Please share your thoughts 👀👀👀 I'm a starving man 😔 idk what to ask do I ask about your favourite character?? Your thoughts on the stuff that was gonna happen in s3??? Should I ask if you prefer s1 or s2??? Idk please thoughts
cooonnooorrrrrr u know the showwwww!!!!! aaaa!!
mY THOUGHTS ARE: dirk is my child and i will protect him forever.
literally all i can think about. i got so attached to him, i cant believe theres literally nOTHING ELSE OF HIM FOR ME TO WATCH. LIKE. ITS OVER??????? IM GONNA HAVE TO READ THE BOOKS THAT ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM THE SHOW TO FILL THE VOID????????????????????? THIS IS WHY I STOPPED WATCHING TV SHOWS I HATE IT HERE
Tumblr media
anyways. as u can see hes my fave character by far. i fell in love with him so fast :( hes so funny and dumb but also very smart 😔😔😔 and he suffered so much!!!!!!!!!! oh my god i wanted to fight everyone who was mean to him!!!!!!!!!! i only respect hobbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love him too! i also love estevez and zimmerfield andnnnddd dodontnttt eveeennnn!!! getttt meee stARARTETDDDDD ON THEIIRRRRRR ENEDNDNINGGGSSSSS Because it doesnt exist. i dont acknowledge it. pure bullshit. i was truly close to te a r s during zimmerfield [redacted] scene???? did u??? did u see that shit????? THE TENDERNESS? WHAT THE F U CK WAS THAT ABOUT IM. im ok.
ah i love bart too so i fucking hATED HOW S2 ENDED FOR HER. WHY DIDNT SHE STAY WITH PANTO IN THE FAIRYTALE LAANNDDDDD OH MYGOODDDDDDD their dynamic was so good... and speaking of him, of course i love a gay icon, love his boyfriend too, another dumb gay!!! so many dumb gays. so much representation. im sad we didnt get to see a lot of them. i was so fuckign afraid they were also going to fucking die no i would riot!! i was ready to say "sO GLAD THIS GOT CANCELELDLDLD!!! OF COURSE THE GAYS GOT KILLED !!! NOT EVEN FICTIONAL FICTIONAL GAYS ARE SAFE!!" KJljdslklk i really was prepared for the worse after what happened to my other kings...... ill never get over that
and to be honest i was not vibing with the second season at first (probably, for sure..ly bc of what happened to my kings in s1. all these new characters were being introduced, i felt like pure shit just wanted them back. i couldnt properly enjoy it) also the whole.. fantasy thing.... is not my thing... idk... from the start, when i saw the fucking wand i wanted to scream dlkjas i knew it wasnt going to be for me. but i think it got better as it went on, it just didnt captivate me like the plot from s1. i didnt follow it as well? i enjoyed how i could easily pick up the little clues in s1 but tbh i think that just reflects dirk's state cuz we sorta follow his pov... he was v e r y lost during s2 and that rubbed on me!!! i didnt enJOYYYY ONE BITTT SEEING HIMMM SO FUCKING SAD... he was just sad and freaking out and he just needed a friend >:( and todd ugh he pissed me off a lot of the time dlkajskl........... ill never forget him saying dirk deserved to be alone 🚶‍♂️being a dirkette isnt easy.
but anyways its not like s2 was bad and dumb (im editing this and i just remember them trying to make todd/farah a thing. absolutely loathed that. that was bad and dumb. faratina for the win), the weird stuff did make sense in the end. of course thats what a child would imagine, even the scissors as weapons made sense. aND AMBOOLENTS. IDK IF U REMEMBER THAT BUT GOD IT MADE ME LAUGH SO MUCH. also suzie was a good villain and tina and hobbs were amazing 🥰aGAIN I WAS SO READY FOR ONE OR BOTH OF THEM TO DIE.... no this fear really ruined things for me lkdjalsk.... oh mona !!! lOVE HER TOO! shes so pretty, first of all. when i saw her glowing eyes in the first ep i was like heyyyy 💕ANyways her character???? like?? so interesting??? not knowing who shes supposed to be?!?!?! i got hooked right awayyyy when she said that
oh my god i wish s3 existed and it was about heeerrrr. mona and dirk would be great besties 😔 and he would finally have his actual detective agency :(((((( but do u mean what i want to happen or this that might have happened? cuz im only looking at dirk/assistent romance lkdjakls mister sir lieutenant assistent was funny and so brave for putting up with friedkin so hes prepared for dirks intelligent dumbness and i want to see dirk happy its a win win. TODD BEING A ROCKSTAR AGAIN YES! all the other stuff yes too except bart teaming up with ken idek why she would do that after he 1. became a dick and 2. betrayed her (PLUS he shot dirk, im resentful, therefore i hate him forever and i dont want bart near him ever again)
sooooooo unfair that the show only has 2 seasons..... its such a rich universe with good characters.... all of them.. amanda and farah got great character development.. i already miss it im so sad..... im strongly considering making a sideblog to reblog stuff..
but what are your thoughtssss? tell me anything !!! do u have a fave episode? since i just finished s2, i remember loving S2xE6. the concert aftermath was really funny also dirk in pink <3

i compared it to the original and they're pretty close but goddamn the german voice actor went full on petty gay sighing and constant dramatic fussing im just-
i can't process how good this show is holy shit the plot is so interesting and the writing is hilarious i seriously can't stop laughing???? the serious scenes too are so heartfelt and all the character dynamics are so diverse im just in love!!!!!!!!! i'm so sad it was canceled and i'm not even finished yet

some updates...
i finished dirk gently! it was pretty fun, season 1 was definitely better lol. but season 2 had panto and silas which are... just top tier... ugh... yes... the gays. i’m mad at what they did to ken, and farah definitely deserved way more. but otherwise it was a fun and quick watch.
i am trying to get More Into Gaming, and i really wanna save up to start streaming actually... not sure when that’ll happen but plz come watch when i do :)
lastly... i have decided that it isn’t healthy for me to gif on weekdays bc it makes me like not eat until super late, and i end up sleeping late... which isn’t fun! so i’m gonna try to edit on weekends for a couple hours and just queue them for the week. but always feel free to send requests!!! i have a lot of stuff planned namely joan watson outfits for s1-s3, fave char gifsets for a couple characters, and a couple more tv relationships gifsets as well!
anyways i hope u are well <3 if you ever wanna talk don’t hesitate to send me an ask, instant message me using the fucked up IM system on here, ask me for my discord / twitter... i miss talking to u guys so!!!!!!!!!!!!! anyways!!!! have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekly Blog Post #1 -Goodbye 2018 and Welcome 2019
1/11/2019
Dear Future me,
I’m a bit late starting this (which I have no excuse for), but the gist is that I’ve decided that from now on I’m going to make a blog post every week as a way to document and look back on all the good and possibly not good things happening in my life. There's no formula here, it’s mainly be just a free for all to talk about my week and the things I enjoy.
That being said, This first entry will be a bit different and quite a bit longer than normal, as I reflect back on the recently ended 2018. This year stretched on unusually long as Trumps Politics became a raging dumpster fire threatening a country wide collapse on a weekly basis, and authoritarian began spreading further throughout the rest of the World. For me personally, I
-wrote a 26 page thesis that I will never look at again
-graduated from UC with a Neuroscience degree
-served a term as a research assistant taking care of mice
-worked at then quit my job at Staples
-Got a job at the IRS
-Got suspended from my job at the IRS due to a government shutdown that is still in effect
-started dating for the first time (though no girlfriend as of yet)
-grew even closer to my friends as we typically hung out at least twice a week
-entered a DnD campaign
-Got suspended from playing said DnD campaign
-Discovered I like Sushi
-Went to my first concert since middle school (Panic! at the Disco and Hayley Kiyoko)
-Stayed at a cabin with my friends where we played strip jenga and got lost hiking in the woods for 8 miles in a thunderstorm
-Got a mysterious disease that lasted 2 weeks from said hike
-Grew my hair out then cut 10 inches off and donated it
-My best friend got engaged, My sister went to Sweden, and my brother moved to Toledo
-Watching my puppy Cocoa grow up (though we technically got her late 2017)
And probably a lot more that I can’t remember at the moment. As per usual I spent a lot of 2018 consuming media like the nerd that I am, so I’m going to spend the rest of this far too long entry ranking my favorite things I saw/read in 2018. These will be ranked by pure enjoyment, not overall quality, and aren't meant to be an objective best of list. I just want to talk about things I like. So:
Top 5 Movies
Honorable mention- Hereditary, a fantastic and deeply unsettling film that was one of the most emotionally charged viewing experiences I’ve ever had. It would be high on the list if I had actually watched in 2018, but I only just now watched it and had made the list before hand. Still, one of the best horror movies I’ve ever seen.
5-Venom-Movie was a fucking mess but it was pretty fun. I love the concept of the Symbiotes.
4-A Quiet Place-A movie with almost no sound/verbal dialogue and a great sense of suspense
3-Black Panther-Amazing sense of Style, Amazing Villain, A great Cultural achievement
2-Deadpool 2- Fantastic sense of humor, inventive fights, first big screen lgbt+ superheroes
1-Into the Spiderverse-Best animation I've seen in maybe a decade, Everything about this movie is surprisingly amazing, from the soundtrack to the character designs to the emotional resonance. This Movie can’t come out on DVD fast enough.
Top 5 Cartoons
Honorable Mention -Voltron-Disappointing Finale but 7th season had an amazing Keith/Shiro fight scene and Lotor, arguably one of the best characters in the series.
5-Rick and Morty-Not my favorite season but still smart, rewatchable, and unique episodes.
4-She Ra- Great characters and designs with the Catra/Adora conflict elevating the Series.
3-Bobs Burgers- Consistently good, funny, and relatable, My whole family enjoys it.
2-Steven Universe- Finally getting answers to alien plot, excellent art, plenty of lgbt goodness
1-Hilda-An incredibly inventive new series with a truly unique and empathetic fantasy world, adorable art, a wonderful mother-daughter relationship and some of my new favorite creature designs. The atmosphere this series creates is one I want to live in forever.
Top 5 TV Shows
Honorable Mention- Killing Eve, Like Hereditary I did not watch this until 2019, but I adored Villanelle’s strange psychopathy and the very lesbian tension between her and Eve.
Honorable Mention-The Haunting of the Hill House-Great character building episodes, neat effects, and a great building tension, an underwhelming finale brings it down a bit.
5-Stranger Things-Inferior to the 1st season but still great characters and interesting plot
4-Game of Thrones-Lots of plot contrivances but every episode was still massively entertaining.
3-Good Place-Genuinely great twist with creative ideas and a solid critique of moral philosophy
2-Dirk Gently-Batshit insane, quirky, hilarious, with absolutely amazing characters and writing.
1-Brooklyn 99-One of the best shows on TV, every episode is hilarious and heartfelt, I love every cast member. Ontop of having an amazing sense of humor, B99 is one of the most progressive shows on television, and continually address relevant issues in a tactful and good natured way.
Top 5 Anime
Honorable Mention-Zombieland Saga- a fun show with a creative spin on the idol genre, the heartfelt relations between the characters were a highlight, as was the presence of a trans idol.
5-Aggretsuko-Incredibly relatable with adorable and lovable characters.
4-Mo Dao Zu Shi-Unique setting with a great protagonist and a slow build gay romance
3-Devilman Crybaby-An unforgettable and highly enthralling experience, plus I’m gay for Miko
2-Megalo Box-Probably Deserves to be #1  for its fantastic sense of style, tension, amazingly choreographed fights, lovable protagonist and ‘Antagonist’, and incredible pacing.
1-Reincarnated Slime-This anime is just the ultimate escapist fantasy. Every week I look forward to watching the stupidly op and likable protagonist make friends with everyone he meets, build a peaceful city from scratch, overpower everyone with neat abilities, try his best to avoid conflicts, and comment on how hot everyone around him is. It's the equivalent of playing an RPG and doing every side quest you can to make everyone happy, I love it. It's just very Chill and pretty.
Top 5 Comics
Honorable Mention-Space Battle Lunchtime-Cute lgbt+ characters and fun concept, but short for now
5-Moonstruck-My ideal fantasy world with fun and vibrant fantasy designs and a highly diverse cast of lgbt+ characters, but only just beginning with a lot of room for further character development.
4-Trust-fantastic art and an intriguing setting with a mysterious but interesting plot
3-MotorCity-Stylish protagonist with an adorable girlfriend and an interesting supernatural twist.
2-Saga-Creative and exciting space opera that introduces lots of likable characters and then kills them.
1-The Adventure Zone-My favorite Fantasy Story of all time getting translated into a visual medium. While the first Volume was not quite as good as the Podcast (Though I don’t believe that’s possible anyway), it still had much of the great humor and characters with some lovely art and a condensed story.
Top 5 Web Series
Honorable Mention- Game Grumps-Not sure if I want to count Lets Plays but this channel brings me so much joy. House Party, Doodle Doods, and the 10 Minute Power Hours were highlights.
5-Monster Pop-Great colorful character designs and complex character conflicts with ample lgbt+ content
4-Buzzfeed Unsolved-very interesting and weird events with hilarious commentary, the hosts have a great chemistry and play well off each other.
3-Their Story-My favorite lesbians, stylish, cute, and fun, wish it updated more often.
2-19 Days-Amazing slow build romances with incredibly fun characters and interactions, Grade A Homoerotic tension.
1-Ava's Demon-Some of my favorite art and character designs in any Media, The plot is amazing and fairly unpredictable, I feel incredibly excited every time I see it has updated.
Well that’s all for now. Next time will be my favorite ships of 2018, as their were some interesting couples this year.

1: Do you/would you like to write professionally? well, I want to go into directing in theatre, so I’ll probably end up writing plays ‘n’ shit. Not a book though. Maybe. I’m 17, anything could happen.
2: Which author has influenced you the most? Probably Derek Landy? The emotional and yet irreverent shit-talking style is pretty inspirational. Skulduggery Pleasant was one of my favourite series growing up.
3: Any guilty pleasures (books/fics)? mmmm fic in general is my guilty pleasure. I read fic knowing I should be reading classic literature to try and help uni applications xD
4: What’s better (or the least bad): character over plot or plot over character? Character over plot every time. I can’t read anything badly characterised, but I’ll tolerate a shitty plot.
5: Do you think stories can change lives? Is there a story that has changed yours? Absolutely. But I can’t think of one right now.
6: What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to writing? I hate when female characters are demonised or vanished. I think that’s one of the worst things about a lot of fandom. Gimme my strong female characters.
7: Do you listen to music while you write/read? Yeah, I have a weirdly specific habit where I put on a repetitive acoustic song (dodie’s ‘Secret For The Mad’ or ‘6/10′ quite often) and put it on repeat. I get to the point where I’m not actually listening to the music, but it’s just distracting my brain. I think too loudly.
8: Favourite quotes?  Well, I just read Jeanette Winterson’s ‘Sexing the Cherry’ so I’m full of quotes from that. Some of my faves: “Language always betrays us, tells the truth when we want to lie, and dissolves into formlessness when we would most like to be precise.” and “As your lover describes you, so you are.”
9: If you could wish for a new book update from any [fanfic] author, who would it be? Floater1010. They’re writing a Victuuri fic at the moment that I’m loving.
10: What’s your favorite trope? AU? I love a good AU. Specifically, Time Travel (you might have guessed).
11: What’s your (least) favorite overused trope? a/b/o. I wouldn’t completely abolish it, because there are a very small number (like, 2) that I enjoy, but I have really numerous reasons for disliking it.
12: Which trope would you absolutely abolish? mpreg. I’ve never enjoyed an mpreg fic.
13: Are there any tropes you’re embarrassed for enjoying? hmmm. I’m not really embarrassed about anything? I suppose I wouldn’t admit to reading anything smutty to people irl?
14: Do you have a go-to AU? Time Travel, as I said.
15: What kind of character do you wish you saw portrayed more often? Women! Women! Or perhaps bisexual characters who specify that they’re bi rather than identifying as gay once they date someone of the same sex.
16: What’s more frustrating: plotholes or OOC characters? OOC characters all the way.
17: What’s more draining: writing smut, fluff, or angst? Well, I never write smut, so I don’t know about that. I’d say fluff, ‘cause it’s difficult to write happiness without it getting boring, so you have to come up with witty and exciting shit. Angst means you can just cry over a keyboard.
18: Are you a ‘neatly designed outline’ writer or a ‘fuck it i’ll figure it out as i go’ writer? I have a rather detailed bulletpoint list of plot moments, but however I connect those is very improvised, and sometimes key moments get changed, moved or cut. When I actually write, I tend to go with the flow.
19: Do you think major character deaths are ever necessary? Yeah. I mean, I’ve got something coming up that means I’d be a bit hypocritical to say no. I can be merciless sometimes xD
20: If you could ‘unkill’ any character from any story, who would it be? (ORIGINALS SPOILER ALERT)
Klaus Michaelson, now the Originals finale happened. Klaroline will live on.
21: Would you like to write an alternative ending for any of your favorite shows/books/etc? Hmmm. Well, I’d quite like to just write another season for Dirk Gently, so I’d go with that. Tbh, I tend to abandon shows before the end.
Edit: I forgot Hannibal! I want my boys to be happy together <3
22: Are you more likely to be the person who starts reading a 100k slow burn fic at midnight or the person who starts writing a drabble at 4 a.m.? Reading. I don’t ever write drabbles.
pick just one:
23: fluff or angst? Angst, though I always prefer a combination of the two.
24: fantasy or sci-fi? Fantasy
25: fake dating AU or inpromptu babysitting AU? Fake dating. I don’t think I’ve ever read an impromptu babysitting fic?
26: road trip AU or high school AU? Theoretically, high school, though I find they’re rarely well done.
27: coffee shop AU or florist AU? Florist AU ftw. I mean, I’ve written one, lol.
28: stuck in an elevator AU or camping gone bad AU? Stuck in an elevator! Gimme that witty and flirty dialogue.
29: 20s AU or 50s AU? 20s gangsters and prohibition boop.
30: high school AU from a fantasy/sci-fi story or fantasy/sci fi AU from a realistic story? Fantasy/sci fi from a realistic story. There are some great space-based Victuuri fics.
31: mythological creature AU or superhero AU? Mythological creature. Ngl, superheroes bore me.
32: meet cute or meet ugly? Meet cute? What is a meet ugly? Also, the word ‘meet’ no longer looks right.
Everyone I know has been tagged :( I don’t have enough friends for this. How about, if you see this, take it as an invitation.

So i literally just finished all of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and here are some of my thoughts:
Dirk and Todd are the best characters, fight me
THEY ACTUALLY MADE THE AGENCY IM SO PROUD OF MY BBS
I’m gay for Farah
THAT FUCKING PARTY SCENE WITH DIRK AND TODD
brotzly
Amanda was kinda a dick for most of season two
I really liked season 1 Ken and then i watched these last two episodes and i hate him so much
THE PARTY SCENE WITH THE SPELL AND SHIT AND THEN THE HANGOVER SCENE. I know i already put that but: !!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m a sucker for angst so whenever Todd or Dirk or Farah were about to die or were getting shot or something i was sad because my babys but also disappointed that nobody died because angst.
There were a lot of really emotional scenes. Like, let my bbs be happy
Like the Todd and Dirk fight or when Todd confessed about not having the diesease
Also when Todd caught the diesease, i just- ooF. let my son be happy
Im super confused with Todd and Farahs relationship throught the show
ALSO SOOOOOO MANY PLOT TWISTS!!!!!!!
Ok, ill try not to talk about the hangover/party scene again but Todd was wearing Dirk’s necklace
Im not the biggest fan of the whole fantasy element but i still LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the season
tho i prefer season 1
TODD’S ATTACKS             O O   F
Sorry, i just love Todd
Todd saving Dirk and all of their interactions give me life
Like when Todd slid down into the trippy fake house to save Dirk and he pretty much killed the monster, and got them both out.
and then the fucking attack happened and oooooooof
Ill add more later! - 2:29 am Thursday January 4 2018

so I just finished Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.. and it was AMAZING. like, unbelievable. I loved it so much. and it ended on a cliffhanger!! a really important one!! and then, and fucking THEN. I FOUND OUT IT’S BEEN CANCELLED. WHAT THE FUCK.
PLEASE WATCH THIS SHOW! THE MORE VIEWS IT GETS ON NETFLIX THE MORE LIKELY IT IS FOR ANOTHER NETWORK TO PICK IT UP AGAIN. YOU CAN ALSO SIGN THIS PETITION TO BRING IT BACK WHICH HAS OVER 60,000+ SIGNATURES ALREADY. so here’s a spoiler free synopsis!!
The show is about Dirk, a holistic detective who operates on the notion that everything is connected. The universe has it’s ways of showing him what to do, and he uses his psychic abilities to help whoever he can by solving cases.
It’s quirky comedy makes it very funny and lighthearted, while still having very serious moments and dark storylines, especially as it progresses into season 2 to delve deeper into the origins of Dirk’s power.
IT HAS:
positive and healthy LBGT characters and relationships!
badass POC!
realistic depictions of mental illness
a wonderful canon bisexual character who is open about her struggles with drug abuse
complex and dynamic characters played brilliantly
interesting and completely unpredictable story lines
lovable characters you can get attached to pretty much straight away
unbelievably strange and awesome costumes, very wes anderson-esqe
awesome fight scenes
aesthetically beautiful cinematography
THE MAIN CHARACTERS:
Dirk Gently (played by Samuel Barnett), is an adorable cinnamon roll detective with an incredibly sad past who just wants to save the universe and make friends doing so: (also everyone agrees he’s either gay or asexual and either way I love him more than anything)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Todd Brotzman (played by Elijah Wood) is Dirks best friend/assistant who is reluctantly dragged into dirks escapades. totally relatable, either 1) sick of everything or 2) angry at everything. he tries his best.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amanda Brotzman (played by Hannah Marks) is Todd’s sister. A total punk rock badass who suffers from a terrible disease but it doesn’t! stop! her! also, a bi icon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Farah Black (played by Jade Eshete) is an OCD stickler for the rules who could literally kill me with her bare hands and I’d thank her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall? A top show based off a series of novels by Douglas Adams who also wrote Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and episodes of Doctor Who.
(Also, there’s only two seasons. That’s not so bad to catch up on!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
please don’t let this show die

Let’s talk about Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency Season 2
I just finished watching the second season of the show and I really enjoyed it. To be clear, the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is my favourite book series and even though the movie was flawed I really enjoyed it. I have yet to read the Dirk Gently’s books, but I really like the show. I thought I’d take a few minutes to go over the season and talk about the characters. Obviously spoilers ahead so beware. If I miss anything let me know. Also, please chime in if you want!
The season as a whole was pretty solid I think; it managed to get even weirder than the first one surprisingly and was entertaining and thrilling for the most part. There was a few plot holes that seemed to be more of an error rather than intentional but it was very minor and every show has those. My only issue with this season is that around the 8th episode the mystery is solved, so the last 2 episodes are about them tying up the story and resolving the plot, but there are no big reveals or twist at that point. I mean, the last 2 episodes were good, but it was kind of disappointing to not have that whole “what the hell is going to happen” atmosphere for them. But yeah besides that I think the season was solid, even if I wish the dog would’ve been just a tad more present. As a side-note, I want to say I thought it was really funny that the show legit started with a gay kiss scene, it felt like a huge “fuck you” to all the homophobes that might’ve been watching the show. Now I want to go over each character and talk about them during the season.
Dirk: I think the character was solid this season. He kept his personality while still adding some character development over it. It was nice to see him come to term with the fact that people are getting hurt around him. The actor is great with that role by the way.
Todd: His story arc is pretty good and he’s becoming more of a complete character. I liked how his relationship with his sister is evolving and he wasn’t expecting things to magically get better when he found her, that he let her go her own way and that he just wanted her to know that he wants to become a better person and make up for what he did. I think it’s a nice evolution.
Amanda: She was probably the most interesting character of the season, her place in the story was solid and she’s now a really important part of the cast. I’m excited to see what will happen with her as it’s hinted that she has a big purpose and I want to see how her abilities evolve. She’s also shown some good character development via her brother.
Farah: I was really happy that she was so present in the season, her character is really cool and the actress is doing an incredible job. She has a really good chemistry with Todd and starting to have some too with Dirk, it’ll be nice to see them work together.
Ken: This was one of my disappointment of the season, I was really sad to see him becoming evil, like it didn’t seem like him. I understand that it’s not all black & white, and maybe he’s seen something on the files that will make all of this make sense, but it just feels wrong to have him turn bad like that...
Friedkin: I felt the character was a bit too much “dumb” at some point, but in general it was pretty good. I thought it was interesting to see him turn the character around by realizing “wait, I thought we were the good guys in this”. Also, I hope something comes out from him being stuck in the fabric of the universe rather than just being a funny quip.
Bart: I really wish she would’ve been more present in this season, she kind of just showed up as an ex-machina a couple of times and then stuck around doing nothing. She had some nice moments and it’s good that the character is evolving a bit, questioning her place in all of this. Hopefully she does more in the future.
the Rowdy 3: I really like what they did with the characters, they feel like a big family and not just people trashing stuff. I also like their relationship with Amanda and how they all act with each other. Honestly, solid job as a whole for those characters, even if I felt Vogel was a weak point in the early episodes.
Suzie: Oh god she was the representation of white middle class entitlement it was such a good villain. I like how she plays the victim and says everyone treats her like trash all while she was prom queen, slept with her friends boyfriends, got in a car crash while high with kids in her car. It felt like a good villain to hate.
Tina: I felt like this was the weakest character of the season. In some of the episodes she could’ve just not been there and have another character do what she does and it would’ve worked just fine. It feels like she was filling in Bart’s role as a “wild card” and it was kind of annoying at moments, also her character was a bit too much at times. Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t really feel it.
Hobbs: I really liked his character and the way he participated in the story. It was kind of unexpected to see him get explained all the crazy shit by Dirk and just go along with it like “well this might as well happen” and I feel that’s relatable. His character was really likeable too.
the Mage: I think they did a very solid job for this villain character. He was plain evil and played the part well. Him realizing that he was doomed to fail by the prophecy and just deciding “well I don’t want to die so I’m gonna leave and conquer this other world instead” felt, right? Self-preservation seems to be lacking in a lot of villains in media and it felt good to see it here.
Mr. Priest: I really like Alan Tudyk so I might be biased but I really liked the character. It shows that he’s seen a lot of weird stuff through his career and he adapts on the go with what happens, even if it’s ridiculously weird, he doesn’t even question it and goes with it. He was a likeable villain and a solid character in my opinion.
the Beast: Even if we haven’t seen much of her I liked the character. She wasn’t dismissed outright for being a savage and played somewhat of a role in the story while being treated fairly by other characters. I’m actually excited to see how she evolves with the Rowdy 3 gang, she fits perfectly with them.
Mona: So we’ve seen her in, like, 1 episode I think? But she was pretty cool and I hope we see more of her in the future. She’s a really interesting character that fits nicely with Douglas Adam’s style and it opens up a lot of possibilities with the story and plot. I liked the character!
the Boy: Very brief but pretty cool character. The implications of his powers are incredible and it tied the story nicely. My only issue is that we haven’t seen where the boat initially came from, not sure if that’s to be discovered later or if we’ll just never know, I’m just curious.
Wendimore’s Characters: There’s a lot of them so I just want to say that they did the whole “fantasy world” very well. It really did feel like a child’s imagination, which might have given up the twist a bit earlier than supposed but the whole world was neat and well designed. Most of the characters were solid, except maybe Farson who felt bland and...flat? Most of the characters from that world, even if we didn’t see a lot of them, were likeable (besides the 2 antagonistic leaders, but they were still well-rounded I think) so that was cool.

quick question can u explain that show uve been posting a lot abt with dirk?? not dirk from homestuck im assuming
You are absolutely right, this isn’t Dirk from homestuck!  Dirk Strider doesn’t have a TV show!
*rubs hands together*
Let me tell you about Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
Tumblr media
The current show premiered in 2016. It is loosely based on Douglas Adams’s sadly short lived book series of the same name (short lived because Adams died while writing the third book). You’ve surely heard of Douglas Adams! The science fiction comedy genius behind Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy!
The books are HILARIOUS, AMAZING, PURE GENIUS, and you need to read them POST HASTE (I have the PDF of book 1 if you want it). They were written in the late 80s but holy shit even the jokes about technology and computers are on point!
But essentially it’s about this man named Dirk Gently, he is a holistic detective, he doesn’t look for clues. He solves cases by finding the interconnectedness of all things. He solves very weird cases. Successfully, yet badly, and with “arguable efficiency”.
Cases that involve impossible things. This is science fiction after all! Or rather science fantasy. The show is more fantastical than the books, less humorous, but same amount of craziness. (Also it’s not devoid of humor)
When I say the current show is “loosely based on the books” I mean it. It has very little in common with the books other than certain plot devices (time travel, alternate dimensions,  magic), while the characters are all original, except for Dirk, only 2016!Dirk is completely different from the asshole that is book!dirk (who i still love very very much). Dirk Gently in the show is. Well he can’t. Can’t what? Anything. He’s completely incompetent, but pure joy incarnate.
The other characters are also all amazing. Elijah Wood is in it! My favorite characters are the Rowdy 3, of which there are now 5 of :D
Oh and new characters in season 2, like a pink-haired master swordsman prince who is gay and in love with a man from a family that his family hates and they are both from a magical kingdom (you need to watch this clip)
The does show references the books:
Tumblr media
(people ship Dirk and Thor, whose description in the books matches Chris Hemsworth Thor exactly)
You know about Homestuck clearly, the sense of humor in the books is similar. The wackiness in season 2 is edging into as wacky as homestuck territory.
like, what the fuck is this?
Tumblr media
Plus they both have time travel and aliens and gods (so far gods is a books only thing)
None of this probably made sense. As the Actor who plays Dirk Gently said “it’s pretty difficult to describe Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency to anyone”
Now go watch it

Latest story from https://movietvtechgeeks.com/lee-majdoub-talks-dirk-gently-silas-panto-supernatural-course/
Lee Majdoub talks 'Dirk Gently,' Silas, Panto and 'Supernatural' of course!
I’ve wanted to interview Lee Majdoub ever since he appeared as Hannah on Supernatural, taking over the role from Erica Carroll and making it his own while also nodding to the spark that had developed between Hannah and Castiel. When he was cast on one of my other favorite shows, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (along with a bunch of other Supernatural alums), I absolutely had to chat with him. I caught up with Lee a few weeks ago to talk about both fascinating roles. Lynn: You made a memorable entrance on Dirk Gently in the season 2 premiere as Silas Dengdamor – in part because of that passionate kiss with Panto Trost (Christopher Russell) That scene was important to fans who are often looking for more LGBT representation in the shows they love. Did it feel important in that sense to you also? Lee: That scene was very important to me, and Chris as well. We spoke a lot about the importance of building a relationship between Panto and Silas that was believable. The conversation around the kiss itself was about finding the balance between making it important without making the scene “about” the kiss. I’m really happy the fans liked it and felt represented. That was a huge sigh of relief for me. Lynn: It was important to fans too. The parallels to Romeo and Juliet seem obvious even in that first scene. Was that something mentioned explicitly or if not, does the parallel ring true to you now? Lee: Romeo and Juliet were never mentioned to me personally. However, the Dengdamors and Trosts being at odds like the Montagues and Capulets, two star-crossed lovers from either side being caught in the middle and trying to bring peace. The parallels are definitely there. Lynn: They are, and I think it makes their relationship even more intriguing. I love the character of Silas. How was the character described when you auditioned for the part? Was there anything that really drew you to the part? Lee: If I remember correctly, the description of Silas was that he was a princely character, from an aristocratic family, a lot to prove, and madly in love with Panto. There were multiple elements that drew me to the character. The fact that the show was fully committed to making a same-sex love story a big part of the season attracted me. On top of that, they were from a fantasy/fairy-tale type land, and I’ve never had the opportunity to play a princely figure. And, I was a big fan of the show beforehand. I mean who could turn down the opportunity to play a gay, princely, person of color, from a fantasy land, who gets to wear magnificent clothes, and open the second season to a great show with a kiss? Lynn: Excellent point!! You described your character in a twitter Q&A as an avid bird watcher, exquisite dancer, animal lover and Princess Bride fan (which is quite the powerhouse combo!)  Have you constructed a backstory for your character which includes any or all of these, and if so, what else does it include? Lee: I love that you read that! I had constructed elements to Silas’s backstory that I felt would inform his decisions, point of view, and emotional journey. I don’t know if any of the things I mentioned in the Q&A were deeply part of that. They sort of emerged once I got to know Silas. When I was answering that question, I was like, “Oh! Silas would definitely be an animal lover. Oh and he would absolutely love to spend free time out in the fields and forest, taking in nature. Oh, oh, oh… And if he ever had seen The Princess Bride, it would for sure be his favorite film.” Lyn: The Princess Bride parallels are pretty striking (I’m a big fan). Was that something the show set out to convey explicitly? Lee: It does have some of the same feeling that The Princess Bride had, doesn’t it? Max did mention there were going to be similarities. I remember the first day on set, I was with Aleks (Paunovoch, another Supernatural alum) (Wygar Oak), and we were both in our full-fledged wardrobe and props, and I had this giddy feeling build in my stomach. All I wanted to do was walk around quoting Inigo Montoya. It was a wonderful. I felt like a kid. Lyn: What a great feeling -- I laughed out loud at the scissor swords. Did you? Lee: Oh man! When we first saw those, I was blown away. I got so excited we were going to get to wield them. Once I saw them in action, I laughed… more out of bewilderment. I’ve never seen anything like it. Lynn: Pretty sure no one has seen anything like it! But back to the kissing… You’ve said that kissing Chris Russell was how you imagine Natalie Portman felt kissing the much taller Chris Hemsworth. Anything else you can share about that kiss? Lee: I’ve never had to kiss anyone while wearing bejeweled gloves before. Let me tell you... not the easiest thing to do. The jewelry on the gloves continually got caught in Chris’s hair. We eventually had to change the placement of my hand. That’s a little nugget of behind the scenes for you. Lynn: (beaming) I appreciate it. So in addition to Silas’ relationship with Panto, he clearly has a bond with Wygar Oak. What is their relationship like and how was it working with fellow Supernatural alum Aleks Paunovich? Lee: Silas and Wygar have this wonderful, complicated, loving relationship. Silas trusts Wygar, and I think that’s made evident even in the first episode when Silas and Panto kiss in front of Wygar. The fear of showing their love isn’t present around Wygar. Aleks was fantastic to work with. He and I have been friends for about 5 years now, and I think it really helped inform the relationship of Silas and Wygar. We both trust each other very much, and there was an added level of comfort and confidence I had working with him. Lynn: You are obviously social media savvy, with a Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, etc. How has that interaction been now that the pilot of Dirk Gently has aired? Are you enjoying the reciprocity of it or does it feel like a potential minefield communicating back and forth with fans? Lee: Thank you! The interaction has been wonderful. I love being able to engage with the audience and fans. I definitely owe a lot to fans. A  show’s success deeply relies on them, and the popularity of characters depends on them. I am enjoying the reciprocity very much. There are times when I feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of people that engage with me, and I wish I could get back to everyone. [caption id="attachment_50711" align="aligncenter" width="696"] Source: Brandon Hart along with main feature image.[/caption] Lynn: You might not get back to everyone, but you’re doing a great job of staying connected, and I think the fans appreciate it. You said on twitter that you’ve read fan theories on Tumblr, Reddit, etc. Any theories about either Hannah on Supernatural or Silas on Dirk Gently that captured your imagination? Lee: I’ve skimmed over them. There were theories of Hannah I really wish had come to fruition. I wish the fans had gotten a little more time with Hannah. To me, that character was so torn between love and duty. It would have been a treat to investigate that more. Heaven was a better place with Hannah around. I’m interested in seeing more theories about Silas. I don’t think anyone has gotten super close to guessing what is going on with him. I could be wrong though. Everyone will have to wait and see. Lynn: The role of Hannah in Supernatural was first played by Erica Carroll, and in fact, most fans thought of the character as female (although technically Hannah was an angel and just inhabiting a vessel). Nevertheless, that gender expectation persisted for most of us. Did you play Hannah purposely with gender ambiguity in mind? Lee: I never really thought of Hannah as any particular gender. Personally, I thought that because Hannah learned a lot about human emotion from the time spent in Caroline’s vessel, that it wasn’t necessarily that Hannah identified as female, but more as to how Caroline identified. The key for me was all about how Hannah felt about Castiel and how Hannah felt about Heaven. Love versus duty. It would have been a great disservice to the character to have lumped them into any one identity.   [caption id="attachment_50709" align="aligncenter" width="768"] Source: @FangasmSN[/caption]   Lynn: I see what you mean. But it seemed like in that first scene when we learn that you are Hannah, there’s a softness and affection between Hannah and Castiel that is reminiscent of the scenes Erica and Misha had that were not so subtly sexualized. Did that sensuality carry over into your portrayal, as many fans read it? Lee: Absolutely. It was so important for me to be able to show the softness and affection from the very moment Hannah enters that vessel. I had put a lot of pressure on myself. I wanted to do right by the character, by the show, and by the fans. I’m happy the performance resonated with the SPN Family. Lynn: I think it did, it definitely resonated with me. I realize quite a few of my questions touch on gender and sexuality – both important topics in fandom and in the broader culture, and to me as a clinical psychologist. Thanks for your willingness to engage in and further that discussion through your work. Lee: Thank you for taking the time with me. I feel quite fortunate to have been able to play Hannah and Silas. I’ve always hoped to work on projects and play characters that would connect with people, further conversations, and represent those that don’t feel represented. It’s been such a privilege to give an additional voice to those who have felt voiceless at one time or another. My youngest sister has struggled with certain societal walls around her and came out a few years ago. I found it extremely courageous, and I'm so proud of her. Her input and point of view is extremely important to me and she was so happy when she saw the clip of Silas and Panto. That meant the world to me. I hope those opportunities (to play these deep characters) continue to come my way. Lynn: I hope so too because you’re clearly up to the challenge! And switching topics for the last few questions… Do you consider yourself a fan of anything? If so, what? Lee: I’m a big fan of Dirk Gently. And earlier this year I got sucked into a show called The Expanse. Absolutely love it. And, selfishly, I hope to get on it. Brooklyn 99 is another show I can’t get enough of. Even though it’s a comedy, the writers have found ways to touch on relevant issues and make the audience think. It’s a great balance. One of the more memorable episodes focused on one of the characters having to deal with a police officer arresting him because he’s black. [caption id="attachment_50707" align="aligncenter" width="696"] Source: @divinepigeon[/caption] Lynn: I’m crossing my fingers for you for both those shows. Oh, and I loved having you and Erica both onstage with Ruth Connell at the Vancouver convention, and it was a pleasure to chat with you there. What was your experience like at the con? Did anything surprise you about the experience? Lee: As you probably know, it was my first convention experience. I loved it. I’m happy Erica and I went together. I was a little worried what the fan response would be, considering it had been some time since I had appeared as Hannah. Everyone was fantastic. They were welcoming, and I was so happy we got the opportunity to take pictures and chat and take our time. I was surprised at how many people spoke to me about the importance of my portrayal of Hannah and what it meant for gender ambiguity, gender fluidity, non-binary gender, etc. I was deeply touched by the honesty and deep conversations I had with a number of people. I walked home that evening a better person, and deeply humbled and grateful that I had played a character that gave us all the ability to have those important conversations. Lynn: And that’s exactly why you were able to touch us all with your portrayal. I’m looking forward to more Silas -- and who knows, one of these days Hannah may return to Supernatural too! Dirk Gently airs on Saturdays on BBC America, or you can catch up on Amazon Prime right here! I had completely forgotten why the frankly embarrassing-sounding goal of "writing gay genre fiction" was what I wanted to do. It's been 14 hours since I found out a show I like is going to have gay characters and it's still all I can think about. It makes me so happy.
I know I'm not the only queer person who strongly prefers sci-fi/fantasy to realistic fiction, and generally has to face the irritating decision of, "Should I watch something I'm interested in, or something I'm represented in?"
When gay people do show up in fiction, it's overwhelmingly on dramas and sitcoms and soaps. I started watching Riverdale last year partly because I knew a gay character from the Archie comics it's based on would be on the show. That show is fucking terrible. I watched the entire first season, and I'm gonna watch season 2, because two boys kissed in season 1 so now I have brand loyalty.
And a lot of the time, when gay people do show up, they're gay because the creators thought it was shocking or titillating, or because they want to pontificate about how homophobia is bad. And like, I obviously think that homophobia is bad, but it's exhausting to only show up in Very Special Episodes where one's oppression is discussed in a very painful way.
And with Dirk Gently--okay, I started watching because an actor I like is in it, but I kept watching because it's an adaptation of a Douglas Adams piece and shares his off-kilter charm, and it has psychic people and body-swapping and time travel and evil spies and pop stars presumed dead who aren't really dead and kidnappings and underground lightbulb rooms and all the off-the-wall stuff I actually like to have in the fiction I consume. And the thing about Dirk Gently season 1 is that the first season was so naturally diverse with well-rounded characters and the show *wasn't about diversity or social justice issues,* it just said "There are a lot of people of color and women and women of color in the world so it makes sense that people fitting those descriptions would be major players in our story. Got it? Okay, cool, now we're never bringing it back up again because otherwise we won't have enough time to discuss why a group of grungy strangers just smashed Todd's stuff with baseball bats."
And that means I'm pretty confident that this gay couple is going to be treated as perfectly natural by the show and the characters, and that I'm pretty confident that these characters are going to be viewed as just as three-dimensional as all the other characters by the writing staff.
And it doesn't have to be a huge production, and I don't have to go through the process of digging and digging and digging to find something where I'm represented--because while gay fiction *is* out there, it always feels, on some level, degrading to have to hunt for it when you never, ever have to spend extra time hunting for something that has straight people in it.
And it's just a show about a madcap detective who might be magic, and two of the people he's going to meet this season are two men who are in a relationship, and it's not a big deal at all because everyone has much bigger problems to worry about, like running from the FBI.

Its not a lot at all I've watched Supergirl and some of WE (lmao idk if those are considered to be gay shows but yknow) -the gay show anon
They are. Hm...Sense8 is good, Dirk Gently's going to feature multiple openly LGBTQ* characters in season 2 which is supposed to start in the near future, Wentworth is like the less sitcommy OINTB, Pretty Little Liars has a wlw couple in later seasons, Jennifer's Wedding is v cute but focuses more on the family, Blue is the Warmest Color is good but has the fakest sex scene known to man, Below Her Mouth is great if you wanna see Willa Earp fuck a blonde chick, Imagine Me & You is the wlw romance we all need in our lives, CARMILLA IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME TBH AND IS GETTING A MOVIE, the 100 used to be good but shit got fucked up real fast and we all overlooked it until they killed off Heda and then suddenly we all got Woke™ about them killing off POC too, But I'm A Cheerleader is quite frankly amazing....Y'all feel free to add on

Fictional Favorites Tag Game
I was tagged by @yourgoodfriendraichel so here goes  I am going to follow in Raichel’s footsteps and put this under a break, because oooh boy did it get long  1. What is your MBTI? It changes every time I take the test, but  INTP /INTJ are my most common results
2. What is your Hogwarts House? Ravenclaw. I’m quite the academic these days.
3. Are you a book person or a TV person? I love books on principle, but I love tv so much and it’s so much more CONVENIENT.  (this is @yourgoodfriendraichel‘s answer, but it’s so 100% accurate, I’m keeping it)
4. What is your favorite book series? Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart, as will Percy Jackson and Cirque du Freak. I love Dirk Gently (Douglas Adams was an amazing writer through and through) and Sherlock Holmes because I am garbage for a good detective story.  ASOIAF and the entire Tolkienverse (LotR et al) are some of my favorites. Oh! And The Sparrow, there was a sequel so it counts as a series. I haven’t read the sequel yet, but The Sparrow was legitimately one of the greatest books I have ever read and I am super excited to check out the sequel when I have a few days off of work that isn’t dedicated to mowing the lawn (it's been raining sooo much here)
5. What is your favorite TV series? I love so many tv series. Aquabats! Super Show! will always be in my top 10. I am garbage for TURN: Washington’s Spies even though I think it’s kind of terrible, oooh and Dirk Genty’s Holistic Detective Agency, can’t believe I forgot about that one, I was literally just talking about the books. And no matter how angry I get at Doctor Who, I will always return to watch the new season (this last season was really good, thank god) but I think Classic Doctor Who is a thousand times better than the reboot
6. Which fantasy universe would you most like to live in?  I don’t know, because in any universe I won’t be the hero (I’m not even the hero/protagonist in THIS universe, so why would it be any different in a fictional one?) so I would need one that I could live happily and not be incinerated by dragons or forced to fight some nobleman’s war. Yeah, I’ve managed to talk myself out of every fantasy universe I could think of. How about Harry Potter? Yeah, sure Hogwarts has a scarily high student fatality rate for a high school and there’s a massive war every couple of decades that wipes out half the generation, but magic would be fun. I think I would take a short life with magic over a long life without it (assuming that I don’t end up a muggle or a squib, of course)
7. Favorite character ever? Finn from Star Wars, Sansa Stark from ASOIAF (note: ASOIAF and NOT GoT), Prince Charles Edward Stewart from Outlander…. That’s a really weird one, but Outlander was one of the most horrible (and uncomfortable) shows I have sat through but I really loved Bonnie Prince Charlie?? He was just an idealistic ray of sunshine in this bland, bleak wasteland of a tv show. He wouldn’t make the list if my hatred for the show was any lessened, but because I hate the show so much, my love for him is exemplified immensely. Anyway, Theodore “TBag” Bagwell from Prison Break, the entire cast of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Pietro Maximoff (and 99% of all XMen), Sauron, etc. So many.
8. Character you would like to personally slap in the face: Abe Woodhull from TURN: Washington’s Spies. He’s terrible, through and through.
9. Character you would like to personally murder: CHLOE FROM LIFE IS STRANGE. I WOULD HAVE MURDERED HER SO HARD IF MY GAME DIDN’T GLITCH ON THE LAST LEVEL.  *she’s a terrible human whose manipulative and abusive. WLW deserve better options in both general representation and romanceable wlw characters in video games
10. Character you would gladly intern under:  Any of the Xmen (can I be a plucky assistant who has a really lame super power but still tries to help, please???)  OOOOOH and Larten Crepsley from Cirque du Freak (I LOVE HIM, YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW also he is in my top 5 favorite characters of all time, so I can’t believe I left him out in the fave character section)
11. Character you would totally have tea with: I don’t drink tea, but I’d probably go on a late-night coffee run with the entire Star Wars cast or Aquaman. Aquaman probably hates coffee though, so The Riddler? Edward Nygma seems like an “up all night anxiously drinking coffee while finishing up some project (probably a criminal scheme)” kinda guy.
12. Character that you feel really needs a hug: The entire freaking cast of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (note: the tv show, not the books)
13. Character you love that you would probably hate irl: Most of them, to be honest. I am drawn to horrible people in fiction. Simcoe, TURN: Washington’s Spies (note: tv show version, not real-life verson); T-Bag, Prison Break; Cesare Borgia, The Borgias;
14. Character you would realistically be friends with irl: Ken, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
5. First character you had a crush on (if any): Jack Sparrow………
16. Favorite ships: ooooOOOh boy where to begin…. DISCLAIMER: when I say I ship things, I just mean I find the dynamic between the 2+ characters interesting and compelling. I don’t necessarily feel that they should be a canonical end-game romance (or even a romance at all), nor do I stan the relationship as healthy for either of the characters, nor do I feel that these relationships (platonic, romantic, or otherwise) should be heralded as a beacon of #goals to aspire to. I literally mean “hey those two have a cool dynamic, I wanna see more of that” -Master/Missy (I’ve been calling it “MASTERbator but I don’t know what the official ship name) (Doctor Who) -Anna Strong/Hewlett (TURN) -Foggy Nelsen /Matt Murdock (Daredevil) -Abe Woodhull/ Robert Townsend (TURN; note: Rob is too good for Abe but Rob’s reactions to Abe are too perfect to not ship) -Sansan (ASOIAF; I ship this 100% platonically) -Jaime and Brienne (ASOIAF; this is 100% not a platonic ship) -Finn/Poe -Han/Lando (we have NEVER heard the details of that card game, is all I’m sayin’) -Edward Nygma/ Oswald Cobblepot (Gotham/ DC; this is legit the ONLY reason I continue to watch Gotham. Everything else is garbage, but these two’s relationship, man. It’s so compelling, they’re so in love and so unwilling to put their differences and murderous tendencies aside to make their relationship work. I have so many feelings about this ship, okay)
-Joker/Batman (LEGO Batman; it was so beautiful, guys)
I have so many more, I don’t even know
17. Series (TV/book) that you feel ended terribly:  Harry Potter’s ending is literally a meme now, so I won’t do overboard explaining that one. BUT, The Hunger Games. Okay, so this fucking series has a female character who is constantly talking and thinking about how she doesn’t want any children, and how she doesn’t feel like she should be a mother, which is pretty progressive right??? Also, 2 and a half fucking books are building up to an end all war/ revolution and It’s gonna be the biggest damn thing ever, right??? WELL how does this book series end??? Katniss, the FUCKING  NARRATOR, gets hit in her head and blacks out, so she (AS WELL AS THE READER) misses the majority of the final battle, and THEN this series reveals that Gail (the less useless of the two potential love interests) may have caused the death of Katniss’ sister, so he leaves and Katniss chooses Peeta for no other reason than “well, I’m 17 so I should settle down with SOMEONE and you’re within proximity, so I guess you’ll do” and they get banished to District 12 where Katniss mothers a bunch of children because what else are you gonna do but fuck, and basically the entire ending is one piece of bullshit after the other (ALSO THE MOVIES FRAME THE ENDING AS “KATNISS IS NOW A MOTHER THEREFOR SHE’S REACHED HER POTENTIAL AS A WOMAN, ISN’T THIS A HAPPY ENDING” and fuck this entire series)
18. Series (TV/book) that had so much potential but was actually an epic disaster: Literally everything I watch. Dr Who, TURN: Washington’s Spies, Gotham, Sherlock, Game of Thrones; But hey, that’s what fanfiction is for
19. Worst book/movie/TV show you’ve ever read/seen: Ooooh I’ve read and watched some TERRIBLE things in my day.  Outlander. Outlander was pitched to me as having 18th Century Scotland and TIME TRAVEL. Some of my favorite things, aaaand it ended up being one of the worst things I have ever seen. 90% of it is just boring, but the other 10% involves, in my opinion, really poorly handled sexual assault. I won’t go into details here, but it was bad.
Also, Borgias was fascinating, but bad. And TURN: Washington’s Spies. Honestly, I watch a lot of period pieces because I think the clothes are pretty or I am interested in the time period and/or historical events in which its set around, but then 99% of them are all really poorly-written soap opera-y dramas with nice sets and costumes.   20. Favorite book from your childhood: Harry Potter
21. 3 Favorite Tropes: Complex Family Dynamics (I think that’s more of a category of tropes than a trope itself, but I love me some fam drama), Happy endings for gays (that’s not really a trope, but it fills me with love and happiness every time it happens –which is rare), oooh I don’t know. I can’t think of any right now, but I do love a lot of tropes, I promise.
22. 3 Most Hated Tropes: Bury your Gays (killing off gay characters for no reason), Rape as empowerment (ie: when the narration treats a sexual assault as a motivator for women that “makes them stronger”); Man Pain (when a woman is assaulted/ threatened by the antagonist, and the main male-protag uses it as “motivation” to fight the antagonist. The story doesn’t allow the female character who experienced the trauma to be the focus of the story/arc, her traumatizing experience is not about her, it is ONLY there to develop the male character she is close to; the story essentially treats the male as the real victim)
23. Scariest thing you’ve ever watched/read: James and the Giant Peach
24. Anything you’d like to recommend? Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (please send me a message if you want to know what it’s about, it’s SO GOOD. It’s fun, quirky, unlike anything else, and it has a diverse cast including characters who are poc (and woc), characters who have disabilities, women who are badass, none of the women are ever sexualized at all, it has corgis, and mysteries, and scifi, and it’s just a big adventure. (I also recommend the books, and the 2011 tv series Dirk Gently)
25. Would you like any recommendations? I’m game for anything. I love period pieces, fantasy, science fiction, TIME TRAVEL, quirky detectives, gory things, child-friendly things, honestly as long as it has interesting characters I am game. I don’t even need a good story, just characters.
Heeey I am terrible at tagging people. If you want to do the thing, please do! And tag me so I can read it :) Also, if you actually read this whole thing, then you deserve all the gold stars, thank you!

Would you ever consider watching black sails? IMO it's a breath of fresh air with its treatment to (several main characters that are) canonly bisexual and gay plus the canon poly couples. It's a pirate drama that is not at all romantized, everyone is morally grey and it's very gritty and action based but at the same time gorgeous and poetic! Fantastically acted and filmed although season 1 is a bit of a drag I promise you it's worth it when you get to season 2.
Hi Nonny,
Thanks for the rec. I’ve seen the gifs on my dash, and it does look pretty great, I have to say. It’s on my “maybe” list at the moment, along with American Gods.
Right now I’m halfway through s1 of Dirk Gently, which ticks all my boxes. Timey Wimey surrealist humour! Totally my jam!
Next up after that, my watching buddy and I are giving Anne of Green Gables a go. Once we’ve finished that, we have no set plans, so maybe Black Sails will get a look-in.
