Sarkate ka aatank!

Image of Rajkumar Rao lead in the reviewed film Plot: This film is a sequel to Stree (2018). In the first section, there was Stree! But now, how will Sarkate's terror come to an end? This is depicted in Stree 2. While Stree used to abduct men in the first section, on the other hand, Sarkate abducts women in the second. So, how and by whom will Sarkate's reign of fear be stopped? Moreover, how is it all going to conclude? To uncover the answers to these intriguing questions, you must watch the film. Tone and Theme: This movie has a horror comedy tone, which combines humour and terror. The film's theme is terror; it made with the sole intention of entertaining viewers; and it is based on a work of fiction. Characters and Acting: Rajkummar Rao's performance as Vicky is outstanding; his ability to deliver even the most challenging lines with ease is his greatest strength. His comedic timing is also superb, and the entire movie relies on him. Shraddha Kapoor does a good job as Stree; her action sequences are entertaining to watch, and her acting is straightforward and comprehensive. The majority of Bittu's scenes are humorous as a Aparshakti Khurrana does a good job portraying the character. Pankaj Tripathi's performance as Rudra Bhaiya is equally outstanding; his delivery of dialogue is remarkable, his acting is hilarious, and his acting skills are unparalleled. The way Abhishek Banerjee plays Jana is also excellent; you laugh at his lines and every scene he does. Also, good at supporting parts are Tamanna Bhatia, Ananya Singh, Varun Dhawan, Sunita Rajwar, Atul Srivastava, and Akshay Kumar. Direction: Amar Kaushik is the director of this movie. Prior to this, his first directorial effort, Stree (2018), regarded as a success. Following that, his critically acclaimed films Bala (2019) and Bhediya (2022) were released. His Bhediya was a mediocre movie. He also did a great job on this movie. His entire being has gone into creating this film uniquely. In every scene of the movie, his hold is evident. His film is technically exceptional. Story, Screenplay and dialogue: Niren Bhatt wrote All is well (2015), Bala (2019), Bhediya (2022), and Munjya (2024) prior to this movie. The plot of this movie is entirely different from that of the first Stree movie, which was more horror and had a great story. This movie's plot is okay, but the previous Stree movie was more horrific. Screenplay: Excellent, well-written screenplay. Dialogues: Excellently written, we can finally state that the dialogue is the heart and USP of the movie and plays a major role in its success. Cinematography: Jishnu Bhattacharyajee's cinematography is excellent; regardless of the aerial views, the film's camera work, camera frames, lighting, and colouringare all expertly captured. This includes the night scenes, palace scenes, Sarkate's palace, and city scenes. Choreography: All the songs by Vijay Ganguly are really lovely, but Aaj Ki Raat and Jaani Master's Aayi Nai stand out in particular. Music: All of Sachin Jigar's songs are incredibly sweet and melodious, but Aayi Nai, Aaj Ki Raat, Khoobsurat, and Tumhare Hi Rahenge Hum stand out for their calming tunes. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics are well-written and fit the film's plot. Background Score: The background score of Justin Varghese's is incredibly amazing, eerie, It is a perfect fit for the film's tone. Costume design: Sheetal Iqbal Sharma's costumes are in harmony with the story, setting, and  characters of the film. Production Design: Mayur Sharma's production design says it's good. The Kingshuk Moran's Sound design is excellent. Editing: Hemanti Sarkar's editing in the movie has a slow pacing, with the plot developing gradually over the first half hour. There are also pauses in the movie. Action: Darrel McLean, Amrit Singh's action scenes, particularly those starring Shraddha Kapoor, are breathtaking. Visual effects: Fantastic, amazing, and outstanding. Viewpoint: For people who enjoy watching masala movies. Problems: The movie's final ten to fifteen minutes are unimpressive and a waste of time. Due to the fact that two songs were combined back-to-back, The audience is perplexed whether the movie is over or not. There are many double-meaning dialogues in the movie, if viewers can understand them. It was unclear why Varun Dhawan was asked to play the part of a wolf. For thirty minutes at the start of the movie, the plot does not change. Aaj ki raat by Tamanna Bhatia contains profanity and vulgarity, and her costume is extremely inexpensive. Tone and theme: The tone of the film is that of a romantic drama, while its central theme revolves around love and regret. It aims to entertain its audience by addressing both heartfelt emotions and complex societal issues. Acting and Characters: Ayushmann Khurrana’s portrayal of Manu is tolerable but lacks the depth to leave a lasting impression. Although his performance is commendable, it does not stand out as something extraordinary. Similarly, Vaani Kapoor’s role as Maanvi is satisfactory. However, acting goes beyond wearing glamorous outfits or showcasing one’s physical appeal. The Movie balanced by the good performances of the supporting cast. The film directed by Abhishek Kapoor, who has previously helmed notable movies like Aryan (2006), Rock On (2008), Kai Po Che (2013), Fitoor (2016), Rock On 2 (2016), and Kedarnath (2018). While most of his films have been successful, Aryan, Fitoor, and Rock On 2 fell short of expectations. In this film, his direction is good and shows his command over the narrative. However, the weak and unappealing storyline holds the film back from being extraordinary. The story written by Abhishek Kapoor, Supratik Sen, and Tushar Paranjpe, attempts to tackle a unique and sensitive subject. Yet, one question remains: is society ready to accept such narratives? The dialogues by Supratik Sen and Tushar Paranjpe stand out, blending wit with Punjabi humor. These well-crafted lines enhance the overall screenplay. Cinematography: Manoj Lobo’s cinematography beautifully captures the essence of Chandigarh, making the city an integral part of the storytelling. Choreography: Bosco Caesar’s choreography for a few songs adds vibrancy to the film and complements its youthful vibe. Editing: Chandan Arora’s editing ensures a steady pace that keeps the audience engaged. Thankfully, the film avoids unnecessary lulls or boredom. Music and background score: The music composed by Sachin-Jigar is memorable, with tracks like Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Kalle, Mafi, and Attraction standing out. The lyrics by Vayu, IP Singh, and Priya Saraiya effectively incorporate Punjabi influences, adding authenticity to the songs. Action: The action sequences, choreographed by Allan Amin and Vishal Bhargava, are adequate and fit the film's context. Shruti Kapoor and Akshay Tyagi both have good costume designs. Production Design: Bindiya Chhabria's production design is exceptional. Opinion: Time Pass! Young people can see the movie once. Flaws: Two songs were placed back to back, the scene in which the girl's secret is revealed was not particularly good, a whole song contains scenes of physical relations, so you cannot watch the film with your family and children; and a farting scene is shown at the beginning of the film, which makes you laugh. Message: Should a film be made about such a sensitive issue (queer) as a trans girl? Are we permitted to change our sex by defying nature and God in this world in which God has created us? Will showing all of this not promote such things? I do not intend to hurt or offend anyone in the transgender community. Mumbai, Maharashtra, June 12: The next edition of Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, has been officially announced. The ceremony will take place on 20th February 2025 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The grand ceremony shall witness the presence of Celebrities, Government Delegates, Media Personnel and Industry Leaders. 

Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) was founded in 2012 and established in 2016 to carry forward the legacy of Late Shri Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, also lovingly known as Dadasaheb Phalke – The Father of Indian Cinema. The festival celebrates and recognizes the brilliance of the silver screen, India’s vast and magnetic Cinematic heritage and the ever-evolving cultural impact that India continues to make on a global scale, primarily through the medium of cinema.

From Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 to Singham Again: 7 sequels releasing in 2024!

Just as 2023 was inundated with sequels (10 in all, including the Netflix Lust Stories anthology film), 2024, as of now, is set to have eight of them, plus a spin-off. As of now, as per reports, only two—Stree 2 and Raid 2—are likely to be true sequels, just like Gadar 2 and Tiger 3 last year. Last year, these sequels were crowded between June and December, but this year, they will begin from February itself. And this time, T-Series and Jio Studios are involved as producers in three movies each.

Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (earlier film in 2010) The next in the Balaji Telefilms’ bold franchise that introduced Rajkummar Rao and was Nushrratt Bharuccha’s first hit, the film was to release in February itself, but has now been postponed to April 19. Dibakar Banerjee is writer-director and co-producer again. As of now, Nimrit Ahluwalia, Anupam Joardar and the foreign actress Rossana Elsa Scugugia are the only cast known.

Singham Again (earlier films in 2010 and 2014) The iconic Rohit Shetty character of Singham will be back after Singham (that started Rohit’s Cop Universe) and Singham Returns, on Independence Day. Kareena Kapoor Khan also ‘returns’ as his wife from the latter film. Deepika Padukone is the newest (and first female) addition to Rohit’s Cops, while the other members of his Cop Universe—Simmba a.k.a. Ranveer Singh and Sooryavanshi a.k.a. Akshay Kumar will also feature here. Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and (if buzz is true) Tiger’s father Jackie Shroff will come into this patriotic saga!

Jio Studios co-produces this spectacular production. But more importantly, this is a chance for Rohit to redeem himself after Cirkus. A small point: Singham also made a mark in cameos in Simmba and Sooryavanshi, so he will be seen for the fifth time here!

Stree 2 (earlier film in 2018) The new film once again features all the five loved characters in Stree—Shraddha Kapoor in the title role, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee. Stree was the first film in the Dinesh Vijan Horror Universe, and the sequel is again directed by Amar Kaushik. This Jio Studios co-production will also be an August release.

Metro…In Dino (earlier film in 2007) This year’s sequels will be known for their ensemble casts. Anurag Basu repeats only Konkona Sen Sharma from the nine lead players of Life In A…Metro, and adds Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Pritam, his constant music composer, is in again. The first film had an unusual concept and theme and its music too was employed in an unusual way. The same is expected with this T-Series Films co-production.

Badass Ravikumar (earlier film, The Xpose, in 2014) This can be called a spin-off, or a sequel with a different title! Prabhu Dheva actually plays antagonist to Himesh Reshammiya’s lead character of Ravikumar, reprised from the earlier movie. The film is also produced and co-written by Himesh and has music by him, but it also marks the all-rounder’s debut as a director!

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (earlier films in 2007 and 2022) Anees Bazmee, director of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (which netted Rs. 185 crores in India) is helming the third part of the franchise that started with Priyadarshan’s cult horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which was his last Hindi hit, in 2007. He repeats his 2022 lead pair, Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, with Madhuri Dixit Nene, Vidya Balan from the first film in the franchise, Naseeruddin Shah and Elnaaz Nouruzi as co-star. The music for this November release is likely to be scored by the franchise’s composer, Pritam. The film is again produced by T-Series Films.

Raid 2 (earlier film in 2018) Ajay Devgn once again plays an upright Income-Tax official in this sequel to Raid (a Rs. 100 crores grosser), which is helmed again by Raj Kumar Gupta. Vaani Kapoor is the new leading lady, while Riteish Deshmukh is the antagonist. This is yet another T-Series franchise.

Welcome to the Jungle (earlier films in 2007 and 2015) Ahmed Khan directs this multi-star adventure that will try and reprise the whacky mood of its predecessors. Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, child artiste Vrihi Kodvara, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and more are in the cast, including singers Daler Mehndi and Mika Singh. Jio Studios join Firoz Nadiadwala in producing the third part in his franchise of Welcome and Welcome Back, with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal repeated from the earlier movie. What remains to be seen is whether they will be playing the same iconic characters of Rajiv and Dr. Ghunghroo, which they had done earlier, with Paresh featuring in both instalments though Akshay was only there in the first.
