𝗣𝗼𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻 (1991), dir. Mark Herrier e Alan Ormsby.

2022 Horror Challenge: [49/?]
↳"Without memory, there can be no retribution." Popcorn (1991) dir. Mark Herrier (& Alan Ormsby)
Plot: A master of disguise deranged killer begins killing off the college students who are organizing a horror-movie marathon in an abandoned theater.
Starring: Jill Schoelen, Tom Villard, Tony Roberts, Dee Wallace & Derek Rydall
This watch was out of curiosity since this movie is on Shudder and I figured why not. It's... interesting. lol Narratively, it's pretty confusing for me to follow since there are plotholes going on, but I respect that it was going for that meta-humor I usually tend to dig so there's that. It sounds like the production was a bit of a nightmare with the notable firings that went on during the making of this movie but at least the movie itself seems like it's trying to be fun. And you know, the kill themselves feel creative enough and I like the concept of having the movies playing out on screen while intercutting with the characters exploring/working the movie theater. It actually kinda reminded me of when I would watch Phantom of the Megaplex on Disney as a kid except well, this is rated 'R' and people are actually getting killed here so. lol If nothing else, I appreciate it being a homage to the 50's films helmed by people like William Castle, who always promised a gimmick along with his horror/sci-fi movies. That part's cool for sure. This feels like a movie for people who don't take their horror seriously at all and in it just to watch the characters get picked off one by one. Which, hey, sometimes you need those. It's not the worst movie but it does kinda ask you to go along with a backstory that really doesn't make much sense. lol Anyway, it's fine for a watch if you're into that kinda thing I guess.

Night. Repost from @astrozombie1992 • Deranged: Confessions of a Necrophile (1974) Dir. Alan Ormsby Deranged is based on the true crimes of Ed Gein. Released the same year as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre which is loosely inspired by Gein, Deranged has a far more accurate portrayal of the real crimes of Gein. . Although I prefer TCM, if you've ever had any interest at all in the story of Ed Gein you should definitely check this one out! . . #deranged #deadskinmask #edgein #derangedconfessionsofanecrophile https://www.instagram.com/p/B_PEY0bJxh-/?igshid=19dciymtftgjl
