The very moment that Cordelia had suggested going out, Cage had been off the couch, up to their room, changing into nice jeans and a sweater, pulling on his coat, grabbing his wallet, his keys, his phone, filling his pockets and... waiting for her at the door. These days, they didn't exactly have a lot of time alone; the kids needed rides here or there, they had an errand run, groceries to buy, Cage had work, Cordelia had school, most nights by the time that they were both home, they were too tired to do anything other than share a kiss by the sink when dropping off used plates -- and then it was interrupted by the sound of someone calling their name, asking this question or that. But he wouldn't have had it any other way.

And he wasn't going to let her get distracted by worrying about whether or not they should leave the kids at home alone. Shawn and Colton were teenagers -- perfectly capable of taking care of Cienna and Rosalyn, especially if they put on a few episodes of Bluey and laughed along with the little girls as they watched. Once they were in the truck, Cage let out a low laugh, turning to his wife and reaching up to touch her chin, turning her head to face him with a small smile. "Baby… the kids are going to be fine. Colton and Shawn will take good care of the girls. They know the rules, and as much as we need a little time away from them, I think they need a little time away from us, too," they were boys, teenaged boys, having their parents (guardians, in Shawn's case) hovering over them probably got old after a while, good intentions or not.

"Besides," he smirked to himself, pulling out of his usual parking spot and starting down their long driveway, resting his hand against her thigh as the other navigated the wheel. "I already made us reservations at Overlook while you were laying down the law for the boys."

Her bright eyes glancing back towards the house as her feet crunched in the snow in her boots as they made their way towards Cage's truck. "Are you sure we shouldn't call Alice?" The babysitter was doing courses at the local community college now and she knew that she was off of school. "Maybe just to be safe? It's not that I don't trust Shawn and Colton but they're watching two girls who energy exhausts even me?" Really they had said multiple times they could handle it after making them go over the rules again and again. Not answering the door, nothing heated up on the stove or in the oven, and the few other safety rules. "Maybe I could just have her swing by just check on things?" Though she knew that would possibly offend both of the older teens who were attempting to prove they had things under control. They needed to be able to go out for a few hours without worrying, didn't they?

Once inside the truck she tugged her jacket tighter around her. "I just need to pick up a few more things and figured a little dinner wouldn't hurt." Since they had made sure to get pizza and appetizers for the kids, she wanted to be able to enjoy a nice meal together. They hadn't really had proper alone time since their honeymoon and any adults needed that even if it was out finishing up all Christmas related things. "Okay you should really drive before I change my mind and we head back inside." she chuckled softly. If anyone could talk herself into and out of things it was Cordelia and she wanted to do this for not only them, but the boys too.

Week Ten - Review Resources

Guided by the ideas in my critical review plan, I did some research into different written resources I could use to support some ideas.

I looked into articles about New Zealand creative communities and some key creatives that I have been inspired by.

This article discusses the strengths of the New Zealand creative industries and how many talented people are working in these circles. It also touches on the creative and visual culture fostered in NZ. There are some good points I could use to discuss the value of design and the current knowledge in the field.

This interview with Kris Sowersby articulates really well some ideas around his talent and the typefaces he has created. Despite it being published in 2011 and Sowersby creating many typefaces since then, the discussion around his skill and passion is still very relevant. Because he is a key creative for me, this could definitely be used in the review.

Creative Collaborations - Vera John-Steiner

This is a book I accessed through the AUT library. It talks about collaboration between different famous artists, and how collaboration, while defying Western values of individualism, has a focus on emotion, passion, shared experience, and connection. This can create richer creative processes and outcomes, proven through the collaborations between very talented figures like Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz, and Picasso and Georges Braque.

The author discusses how the mind thrives on the discussion and trust that comes from human relationships in collaborative practices.
