Even though it was Megumi who vouched for Yuji's life, their sensei had taken a great liking to the teenager. Satoru always balanced a thin line between being callous and very involved in the lives of children. It wasn't just from the experience of being under his care since he was a little boy. It was from watching him interacting with children and hearing him talk about teaching. He never questioned why his teacher and benefactor chose teaching and supporting two kids but considering he came from a powerful family of sorcerers of which he was not close to, Megumi chalked it up to childhood trauma. Most sorcerers carried heavy burdens. Yuji had not even been born into sorcery yet he was quickly feeling the burdens and the trauma of being a teenager in the jujutsu society.
So what then? Megumi was supposed to trust his life with Satoru but after ten years he didn't earn the man's trust? It was Satoru's selfishness showing again. The end goal to keep Yuji safe from the elders had good intentions but the sorcerer didn't mind who he trampled over getting to that goal. Yuji didn't get it; he hadn't been in the older sorcerer's care for ten years after all. Megumi released a frustrated breath and moved past the pink haired teenager to reach his door. He opened it, entered first, but held it open until his company entered. He quietly shut the door as Kuro spun in excited circles and jumped onto Megumi's small bed. Megumi's bedroom was incredibly tidy and minimal.
The bed was made with sheets and a pillow set of green and black. On the floor was a black rug in the shape of a dog's head. The curtains were blackout but were pushed aside to let the light in. Symmetrical wooden shelves held a handful of animal related knickknacks and a single picture of he and his sister dressed in yukatas for the Tanabata festival. Tsumiki was smiling bright while Megumi was more old school by not smiling for the picture. The room was rather plain with little touched here and there. No posters were hung up but there were real animal skulls atop of his dresser and absurdly cute plushies on his bed. To match his Shikigami, he had plushies of a frog, rabbit, wolf, snake, elephant, and a hawk. A small table was tucked away in the corner with several books and an old gaming system on top of it.
“ Just tell that to sensei or any other older sorcerer. They don't even blink if someone dies. I don't ever want to be that way, but... it might be inevitable. ”
Megumi was impersonable and cold on the outside, but he didn't want to be a person who prioritized missions over people's safety. Jujsutsu sorcery was a mess and more so because Megumi was forced into it for the sake of his sister. If he wanted to make Tsumiki proud and happy, he had to take care of the people around him even if it meant he died.
“ Do you want to sit on the bed or the chair? I don't mind either way. ”
It would probably be weird if they both sat on his bed, huh? So Megumi pulled out the chair that was in front of his desk and set it facing the bed a few meters back. Their bedrooms were tiny but Megumi never gave it much though. Beside Satoru intruding on his space he didn't expect to have people in his room. Kuro lied his head on the plush that resembled a white wolf and darted its eyes between the two teenage boys.
“ So... is everything okay.. with your body and your mind after.... ”

Yuji wasn't sure how Megumi was going to react or what he was going to say but when Megumi pats his shoulder and says he knows Yuji's eyes are suddenly wide. Megumi wasn't upset with him still? So he did know that he didn't keep it a secret because he wanted to. It was a relief but he still felt bad and he knows it doesn't make it any less messed up. He just wants to make sure Megumi was okay and for their friendship to be okay. He blinks at him for a moment then quickly continues on.
"I know sensei meant well too, he just you know..." he chuckles and rubs his nape. After all, Gojo was the only one that Yuji was really able to spend time with he saw Gojo stand up for him and protect him so he knows he had good intentions though his thought process of course is a little questionable and he can totally understand Megumi being upset.
It would have been nice to have Megumi's company when he was locked up in the basement watching all those movies. He actually thought of Megumi often, wondering what kind of movies he liked and which ones he would try to recommend. Although he enjoyed Gojo's company when he had it and training with him, it would have been nice to have Megumi's company as well.
Watching the Divine Dog wagging its tail happily instantly made Yuji smile and feel more at ease. He leans down to give the dog one more squeeze and nuzzle into its fur. "Who's a good boy?! You're such a good boy!"
He coos. Once getting it out of his system he stands straight again and looks at Megumi, smiling gently. "Yeah, I would like that." He nods, biting his lower lip slightly.
"Huh? I don't think death is something you are ever supposed to get used to, Fushiguro. I'm really sorry. Yeah, we should talk about it, inside."
He motions to their door. A little surprised that Megumi was inviting him into his dorm. But he really wanted to talk it out and hear Megumi's side too. He knows it couldn't have been easy and he doesn't like that Megumi is trying to invalidate his own feelings.
