Right. I'mma just dump these ref sheets I made here because I'll be making some drawings with these guys, and I am bad at staying consistent within the design lmao.

Ramble down here, where I try to explain the ""lore"" and my design choices:

So as mentioned above, the majority of the Dark Cacao kingdom is actually composed of kirins, mainly because Cacao was already a kirin in my older designs, and I wanted more of his citizens to match him. Maybe I'll draw the other Cacao NPCs mlp-ified and what I headcanon their species to be.

I ultimately decided to give Cacao a mane and replace his long hair with that. Ngl, I was always on the fence about Cacao and Choco's designs, but yeah, I think the mane works better than just getting rid of it. (Old design below).

Btw, I dunno if I wanna give Cacao an actual crown, or just keep the additional horn things the leader of the kirins kinda have.

Dark Choco hasn't changed much, just in a different art style. I do however wanna say that he shaved off his mane out of shame and guilt for coming across the cursed sword not long after his banishment. Maybe when he and Cacao reconcile, he'll start to grow it out again, or maybe he'll keep it that way as a reminder of the past.

I actually drew (more like edited a screenshot) Caramel Arrow before, and she was originally just a pegasus, but honestly, the concept of hybrids and what they entail really intrigued me. I thought it would be fun if she were a hybrid kirin/pegasus.

Also, her horn doesn't exactly function, mainly because there's this headcanon I once came across a post that says faux alicorns do exist in the mlp canon. If you wanna know my full headcanon for this, feel free to shoot an ask, but to keep it short, for faux alicorns, either their wings are under developed, or their horn can't control the frequencies of magic that well or at all. Such is the case for Caramel Arrow. Though she has fully developed wings, she can't control magic with her horn, and if she tries to, it may cause a headache. But besides that, she's all fine and dandy.

Crunchy Chip, hm, I'd say when he was a little filly, he was found in the woods, either by Cacao, or Choco, and his horn was already broken by the time they came across him. When asked, the little guy said he was protecting the cream wolf pups from a monster, but he can't remember what else happened before he fell unconscious. As he grew older, his broken horn didn't really bother him anymore. He's adapted well, and picked up a thing or two about survival from his cream wolf pack.

Also, sidenote, the kirins' scales are actually very hard to dent, meaning their backs are usually safe from attacks. Crunchy once encountered... something when he was out on patrol, and he was out of commission for a week (to his incredible dismay + annoyance) because of how rare serious injuries to the kirins' backs occur.

Ah, Affogato. Actually, I really do like him as a character, I just tend to focus my attention towards the Celestia and Luna coded father-son duo a bit more. Oops. But anyway, I decided to make him a hybrid just like Carrow too, mainly to add both contrast and similarities between them. They're not too different, but their ideals and beliefs clash and cause conflict with one another, I just thought it was fitting. Also decided to give him a more elegant and curved horn design as a nod to his unicorn heritage. Unicorns in the Cacao kingdom (and maybe the Golden Cheese kingdom) have a curved horn, mainly because the east asian coded unicorns in the mlp canon have curved horns too, and I thought they looked beautiful. Affo is someone so elegant and refined in a land that's chaotic and holds danger everywhere.

And that's my unhinged thoughts for now. I think I'll design Licorice and the others next time, but no promises.

not sure if this is gonna be a yapfest or not. most likely not since im not going too in depth with anything but here's my ramble on the second season 2 trailer.

so she is talking to joel in what seems to be a therapy session and not just an editing trick. i was confused at first on why joel isnt talking to tommy but then i remembered, maria is pregnant and this scene takes place before the 4 year timeskip. or is at least supposed to. and getting to the firefly hospital and then back to jackson probably took a couple months, so tommy is most likely having to pick up both marias work and patrols cause of the baby. that man is just too busy. (note: even if this scene does take place after the timeskip, maria still has a kid to take care of.) i hope the baby is cute like jj⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ‌‬‭⠀

they changed her shirt!!! not a complaint. i actually really like her shirt. i think it looks cute. it looks like we're in joels house and not ellies shed, or they just changed how the shed looks to make it feel more like a home but im going with we're in joels house because of how much it looks like his windowsill.

jackson.. im always astonished how good the scenery of the sets are in this show. hopefully, the seattle set we saw in a sneak peak isn't going to be the final product and the posters we saw are gonna be roughened up. i won't complain too much if they don't but since seattle is a huge chunk of the show im gonna be disappointed if im stuck seeing posters in perfect condition plastered around when we're about 24 years in a apocalypse

tommy, maria, and what appears to be ellie and dina on the creek trail patrol. my guess is they're gonna make the huge infected patrol a lot more prominent in the first episode, most likely to show off the infected in a more efficient way since how they act in the game is very well. gameplay centric. i think it'd also install a lot more fear in hearing that joel and tommy didn't show up since it appears tommy is going on a patrol to clear all those infected out.

dina... oh dina. why do you look like a model while you're in an apocalypse. she's pretty don't get me wrong but damn. sad they took away her girl next door charm that she had in the game. im gonna wait till an actual episode that shows her acting and not just 5 second clips of her to rightfully judge but i dunno. i think judging an actor just for their looks is unfair but at least bella still had the vibe that she's in apocalypse. maybe isabels acting will make up for it, at least i hope so.

JESSE!!!!! OH MY GOD ITS JESSE!!!! ITS THE MAN HIMSELF!!! IM JUMPING UP AND DOWN ITS HIM!!!!! IDGAF ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE OH MY GOD ITS JESSE!!!!! this looks to be jackson but it certainly doesn't take place at the beginning of the game. maybe we're getting an episode that shows his relationship with ellie and joel more. possibly dina too. i really hope so, it'll make his presence in Seattle feel a little more impactful and really i think he deserved more. hes my 2nd favorite character so ill eat up literally anything with him in it.

abby... the girl herself. im surprised how much she actually looks like abby! look at her, it's a 5 second clip, and she's pulling it off perfectly already. that rage and grief in her face is spectacular. i pray we see ellie like that too and i have no doubts that Bella is more than capable of doing it.

not sure what this scene is.. im guessing it's an ellie scene cause it looks like her pocket knife. it doesn't add up to any scene in the game, hope she's alright.

Isaac... don't have much opinions on him but his actor pulls off exactly what i think a ruthless army leader would look like. at first i thought that scar was lev but he looks a little too old to be lev, lev is very tiny. Itty bitty thing (affectionate). have we actually even have an announcement on who his actor is yet. i thought such an important character would have their actor announced already but i haven't heard anything.

back on isaac, this seems to be the same place we saw him in the first teaser/trailer. is he pointing his gun in the first teaser at the same scar we see here or a particular someone else... hm...

Long story short, we tried to spread the animation studio switch letter Sarah posted. I speedran to Xiaohongshu (LittleRedBook/RedBook/RED); Instagram equal for China cause thought no one else would do it. This was before we found out the rest of the crew would send their regards as well.

Idk Mandarin at all so would appreciate any help. Literally just dumped everything into Google Translate.

Priority is everything in the 1st image. 2nd pic is just explanations I wrote for them in case they don't know, which idk how much they know about Flying Bark besides the fact that they thought their animation was awesome. Sometimes they share the storyboards on Bilibili/Weibo but that's about it.

There's a lot of upset/angry/sad/mad fans on RedBook, Douyin, and Bilibili. Much like how we had the wildfire and death threats on Twitter except I think not as extreme to the point of sending death threats... thankfully. They didn't know about the studio change. Honestly, just trying to give them facts and reminding them they have part of the power to get the show cancelled or not; but also not telling them what to like or not like/stop grieving/etc.

Literally one of the RedBook comments on the S5 trailer LEGO China uploaded contains the picture from my post (cause I added disclaimer that it's not lego official translated). Timed writing from writers group yesterday.

Oh, I'm in the mood to share what I got for our fun thing of 25 minute timed writing to provided prompts at creative writers group yesterday, Saturday.

Prompts can be from websites, lists of words we create, pictures, or other. Where these prompts came from I didn't note.

Did a little minor editing to correct mistakes made in the rush of writing to that 25 minute time limit.

Each morning for 25 years, you and one other person waited at the same bus stop for work. This was the first time they weren't there.

A double agent is assigned by both of the countries they work for to capture their alias.

You're trying to act casual in a very precarious situation.

Write a story about an author who has just started writing again for the first time in a couple of years.

A character wakes up one morning and realizes that their every move and thought is being narrated.

“Oh, hi Randy. You know that saying old habits die hard, decided to bring one up from its coma.”

“Well, the waitresses are changing shifts, anything you need while I'm out and about?”

“Are you sure you're good? We got key lime pies in for the season today, I was going to add them to the menu tonight.”

“Mmmm, that's a bunch of sugar, how does sugar interact with trying to focus?”

“Well, the pie is carbs, carbs are quick energy. Focusing takes energy. Therefore carbs equals better focus.”

I squinted at Randy. “Is that documentable?”

“I dunno, you're the one with the computer open. And then there's the honor that you could have the first slice of the new season. Think of the prestige!”

“Nah, even though key lime is my big weakness, I'm good.”

“Have it on me, then you can honestly claim you didn't spend money on your weakness.”

“Stop it, Randy, stop it!”

“Miracles sometimes drop from the sky, you know,” Randy smiled then headed toward the other side of the restaurant.

Soon enough later that I swear they were tag teaming, I heard Suzanne from the library, “Hey Mac, what's this one going to be?”

Suzanne, Kendra, and the gal whose name I never seem to remember, were known to pop in to Perkins after hours on Thursday nights.

Two of my titles from a decade ago were in the stacks at the library and the gals had been after me for at least the last half a decade to increase that number. Granted, it was a much enjoyed thing that my two books did actually circulate. They had neither the highest rate nor the lowest rate. It was enough that anyone wanted to read them at all.

Suzanne eased in to the booth's opposite seat.

Before she got settled Kendra called from the doorway, “Hey y'all!” and before I could engage the proper mental gears to settle on what words to employ in polite protest slid in next to Suzanne.

“Hey Kendra.” Well, seeing my cause was lost for the moment I decided to be at least somewhat personable, “What grand and glorious news was there in the library world today?”

Kendra laughed then smiled. “The most grand and glorious happening possible.”

Suzanne smiled but said nothing.

“Oh?”

“Yep,” Kendra said still smiling, “the absolutely most glorious happening possible, peaceful normality!”

I'll have to admit, she had a point. In recent weeks there had been a city water main break under the parking lot; a car go out of control and hit the building, breaking a pipe in the bathrooms; squirrels in the attic; the motor failed in the air conditioner thing outside; and who knows what else that didn't make the local paper.
