Ichigo steps into the long patch of street light, eyes jerking to the side when a creature skitters under a dumpster, spooked by the shadow he cast. It’s too quick for Ichigo to tell what it is, but the glance shows him a pair of scuffed, dirty shoes sticking out from the far side of the alley he can’t see, and Ichigo pushes his hands deeper into his pockets, turning his gaze away before he can determine if they were on the feet of someone living or dead. 

His stride lengthens as he turns onto the side street that runs directly to Renji’s apartment. 

He’s not late— there is no late for a person that sets their own hours— but he has another stop to make, and the other guys would leave the complex and make the straight shot that led down to the waterfront together. Safety in numbers. It didn’t worry Ichigo, but he wanted to be around in case they needed it. Usually, all they had to worry about were the street level thugs roaming the alleys, selling to cars that slowed just long enough to exchange money for product. Ichigo wouldn’t have thought twice about them. Their profession wasn’t a far cry from his. They all did what they needed to eat. But the guys on their own shit or the men collecting pay and offering their own brand of protection— those were the assholes to stay away from. Ichigo was getting good at knowing those guys by face or name, which was saying a whole fucking lot.

He turns down another street, and a few of the women start calling enticements before he pushes back his hood and they see orange hair. Then, it’s more good natured offers or talk about how tall he’s getting, and he ignores those. He scans through the women until he finds Nozomi and crouches down. She’s leaning on the sill of a boarded up brick window, sleeve over her mouth as she coughs. Her eyes are dark, lined and sunk, and she’s too fragile looking, all paper skin over porcelain bone. Like she’d break if she took one good hit, which is a real possibility on this strip. She shouldn't be out.

Ichigo frowns but ferrets a bottle of pills from his pocket, pushing them into her fingers. 

“There’s probably not enough. It’s just what we had left, but have her take them anyway. Twice a day. Crush them up if she can’t swallow it.” She takes them, looking down like she’s having trouble figuring out what they are. She looks feverish herself, and he wonders what good they’ll do her kid if she goes first. But there’s nothing he can do about that. 

He stands and turns before her arm catches his, and he glances back. He doesn’t need or want gratitude and the look he gets makes his insides prickle and squirm. She’s only the friend of a friend. And she’ll probably be dead soon. He swallows and pulls his arm free. “S’fine.” There’s nothing else to say. He doesn’t want those eyes sticking in his brain, so he doesn’t look again. He makes his way from the small throng of women and girls, getting more affectionate pinches and touches than he wants, but doesn’t let it bother him. It’s nice to be wanted somewhere. 

He steps into the path of a slowing car, hearing brakes screech, but he’s already out of the way, darting behind a car headed the opposite way, reaching the other side of the road before he hears the series of curses and sales pitches that follow.

I wanna write if I could get over my burnt out self

Bambi: Alastor loosing his mother as a fawn and wanting to get revenge on the hunter (and later all the other humans who kill his kind). Lucifer being the majestic leader, easily spotted by his albino appearance, but surprisingly hard to find because he hides away very well & doesn´t care much about the hunters. (Also he looks way taller from far away, but once you stand next to him he is so small all of a sudden.) Anyway, as he grows up Al is on a mission to scare all the hunters away permanently (read: kill) until one day of course there appears a large amount of hunters to "hunt down the rabid animals that endanger the hunting territory" or something like that. Well, Lucifer warned him often enough to not engage with humans, because in his long long life he knows this was gonna happen eventually. Now he can come along and try to do some damage control (by getting everyone to safety and buying them time by playing the bait). In the end the woods catch fire, they have to flee through the smoke and burning trees, they barely make it out alive, but they fought together, the threat is gone. (Sidenote: maybe add some magic: Alastor slowly turning into a wendigo after killing & eating more & more humans, kinda like a curse; Lucifer being the "god of the forest", supposedly the last immortal one - no I´m not going to dive into "the last unicorn" theme with this!)

Blue Eye Samurai: title will be "Red Eye Samurai", because Alastor has most of his demon appearance with red eyes of course. What´s special about him? He´s only a half demon, so he can get away as a human most of the time so long no one sees his red eyes behind the tinted glasses, the deer ears that are constantly hidden under his wide hat and the claws under his gloves. He wears a katana (in red of course) & he has no problem using it to cut off parts of the human bodies (& eat it). Yes, he´s out for revenge (again), and of course he will have some assassins sent his way & he has to fight his way through some tough shit. Maybe give him Niffty as travel companion, who he rescued (unintentionally) from her abusive husband at the noodle shop she was working at. Lucifer meanwhile is unhappy because he wanted to get married to Lilith, but his family has "better" plans for him. Lilith gets exiled (for whatever reason), he wants to follow her & bring her back, but looses her track soon after he sneaked away. And of course he gets robbed on the way, but he won´t give up so easily. Can´t be so bad picking up a job at a brothel, can it? Well, the red haired lad surely is not a easy costumer, but Lucifer knows how to tempt humans.. and demons.

Devil´s advocate: that´s a bit of a complicated one, because if you know the relationship between devil & advocate, then shipping gets a bit.. difficult. So, let´s throw that out of the window. I just think it would be an interesting setting for a radioapple story with a bit of twisting around. Al as an advocate being ruthless & very successful gets the chance to work at the infamous Magne firm and into arguments with the big boss about morality (& other more or less serious stuff). Funnily enough "the big boss" is quite tired of working with shitty people who left all their morals behind, he wants Al to be successful without loosing that, but it seems (almost) like a lost cause. Why is he even trying to make Alastor a better man? Isn´t everyone he interacts with bound to be corrupted? Al´s mom is very concerned (and frightened) when she meets Mr. Magne for the first time (because she´s a good soul & can immediatly tell he´s the devil). In the end, it turns out Alastor had only caught Lucifer´s interest because of Charlie, who lives with him (& his mother). She´s his daughter and he wants to have her back with him. Too bad she doesn´t wanna go back home until she´s finished her business, so he has to wait & until then he´s not allowed to lay a finger on her friend Alastor. Well, at least he has her near him, he can interact with her again & at least Al and his mom care for her. (If only Alastor would stop calling him short & a bad father, he would be less inclined to throw him over the edge of the roof)

Dirty Dancing: make it dance instructor Alastor x doctor Lucifer (with a side dish of Chaggie, because they´d make a hot dancing couple, too)

Sister Act basically Al can sing, he´s got a nun outfit & it would be fun xD

Titanic (1997): I would sprinkle a bit of onesided radiostatic in it, with Al and Vox being partners at first and boarding the ship together. They both want to start a new career overseas and maybe even team up. By some coincidence Alastor finds himself in the first class as replacement for another singer/entertainer for one evening and gets to meet Lucifer, who he has to fish out of the water, because that dumbass somehow managed to go over board. Lucifer is on board with his little daughter Charlie. After the death of his wife and having no money left, his family decided now would be the perfect time to offer him a chance to come back into their circle. Since his daughter is still too young to marry someone (and because Lucifer would never marry her off to someone she doesn´t love), he agreed to (finally) marry someone of his family´s choosing. Obviously he´s not happy with the choice. He meets Alastor for the first time when Charlie almost falls over board because her plushie slipped out of her hold.

cricket hadn't expected to get so comfortable around mary (or her son, michael, for that matter), she never lets her guard down. not now, while she's wearing calista's skin, assuming her rich, spoiled, and connected identity. and not before, when she was poor little cricket with her sad little life. but here she is, back for drinks at her place after dinner. she'd already had a good selection of wine, but cricket's new man, her husband, brought along a nice collection of his own when he moved into her penthouse apartment. perks of marrying an italian, she supposes. cricket grabs a bottle of red and joins mary in the living room.

she can't help but feel so trusting, there's something about mary, almost like she can see through cricket's disguise, see the evil underneath her mask. but mary doesn't shy away from that evil. no, she encourages it, almost. it's in the way mary looks at her, in the tiffany blue of her eyes. that's how cricket knew mary's was the firm to take her case. because, fuck, is she in trouble. caught red handed, so to speak. her and her husband both. the real reason for their quick wedding. he, a highly connected figure in the crime world, and she, just a girlfriend, and later, a hired gun.

cricket pours them each a glass, and leans back to sip hers. "so what's on the agenda for tomorrow?" she asks. "another grueling day that i'll have to end with an entire bottle of wine? or is it gonna be bad enough that i'll need to end the night with several lines of coke?"

Hi! Not stupid at all! No I haven’t revealed it. I don’t know if I’ll reveal it via social media au because as on lookers, we don’t get to see what happens behind the scenes.

I keep saying this but if I write the actual fic you’ll find out what happened between the two.

Remember though that we only have hints of what happened from y/n. She might not be as reliable as we think.

Genuinely crazy that something as simple as Auston being born a week earlier would have such a ripple effect, that is truly the appeal of the alternate universe. Is there any debate about taking Auston vs Connor first in this universe?

I think there's always going to be a Mark Spector type that entertains it, especially considering that Auston used to (maybe still does, one or two) hold the USNTDP records -- he was a good step over Eichel (THIRTY POINTS!??) and better than Kane in 06 by half that.

McDavid got 100 points in 38 games, though. So I don't think any debaters are serious.

tfw I start thinking about adding Blaine the Mono to the Devil's Advocate AU, since mid-world at some point was earth(?), given there was a Topeka Kansas in there. But at the same time I've never read The Dark Tower, though I should just to know what the fuck is going on. If it is not earth, there could be some weird parallel universe shenanigans where one crosses over just long enough for AM, Ted, and KARR to end up in Lud.

Probably if I was to wedge Blaine in there, he could be in his cradle, still asleep when KARR, Ted, and AM find him. Stuff happens that inevitably leads to him getting an alien tech body. More fun happens, Ted probably is stuck unraveling brain teasers until he grows sick of them, KARR and AM try to make sure Blaine doesn't electrocute Ted out of boredom.

But that said, I feel like KARR would be drawn more towards Blaine in this AU, maybe AM as a close second due to the hatred of humanity. KARR would definitely get that despair and waning mental health that comes from being abandoned and no longer having a purpose Blaine is going through. Ted probably would be keeping his distance from Blaine since he does not have the mysterious draw to him that KARR did, and probably is just outright difficult for him to tolerate.
