As much as I love Astarion's questline, I can't quite join the chorus of people who say they feel real catharsis during the final parts of his story.
Shadowheart on the other hand...
#i finished her questline...AGAIN#I cried...AGAIN#what's funnier I'm always crying during her quest in Act 2 which one could argue has little to cry about#there's something about her story that plucks just the right strings in my heart#also this playthrough I did the craziest thing#Madoc made Wyll save his father and condemn his soul to Mizora#I NEVER DID THIS BEFORE#and now I feel like it's the right/only thing Wyll could do?#it's like something in his story suddenly clicked for me#also now I think him not being given an option to make his own choice about it is not a bug but a feature#because I feel he's truly half/half about this#or at least he's supposed to be#despite his brave words there're truly some difficult feelings he has to comb through#does the game give us enough material to explore that though...not really :/#he still chose to become the blade of Avernus in this playthrough#i'll see how his ending looks like this time around when he's still contracted
