his waters of mars moment, foreshadowed by a million preceding events, but this time he's not doing it out of hubris or to prove some kind of point, alone and unhinged: he's doing it for love.

*SLAMS DOOR OPEN*
AND ANOTHER THING ABOUT CLIEGG LARS AND SHMI
"Oh the power dynamic, ha, yeah, bad writing George, he PURCHASES her, frees her, and then MARRIES her, oh, that's a healthy dynamic"
Okay I need you all to think about this:
If he buys a woman who has nothing (because she's a SLAVE on the CRIME PLANET)
And then says "You're free"
and follows that up with "ON THE CRIME PLANET"
What happens next?
What happens if you just turn a woman loose with nothing on the CRIME PLANET?
Yeah. Yeah.
"Well he could get her a ride off-planet" with what, the money he used to free her? To send her where? To his friends off-world? Why is he still living on the CRIME PLANET (that has nothing but SAND, where he FARMS WATER) if he has friends on other planets and the money to travel offworld?
Does Cliegg Lars have a spaceship parked out back?
Can he take her a few lightyears to Naboo? Set her loose on Theed? I mean...the fact that Naboo and Tatooine are in the same sector does raise some questions, but also, again, Naboo is the Peace Planet and Tatooine is the CRIME PLANET.
The point is, he said "Hey, you're free. Hey, come live with me. Move in with me. NOW YOU HAVE EQUAL CLAIM TO MY PROPERTY THANKS TO THIS LEGALLY BINDING DOCUMENT, do whatever you want."
Man was rickety and old and in a Space Wheelchair. There was no Unfair Power Dynamic. This dude was not Taking Advantage of Shmi. He said "Girl you deserve better, come live on a farm in the desert. I mean...you still deserve better, but this is the best I can do, hope it's enough."

The whole scar being mercury, earth, or pluto basically
Mercury, the roman god aka hermes in greek symbolizes - Financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages, communication (including divination), travelers, boundaries, luck, trickery, and thieves;
That itself was already fitting, he was a trader, a scam, a swooner. Mercury is also closest to the sun, knowing people wants scar to associate him with grian's symbol ofc theyd pick that reason yes yes
I also saw someone say something about it having no moons, bc scar killed the moon
That being said mercury is also a loner planet, having no one revolving around it
Earth, the life itself, the ground, the land full of existance
I like to associate the people on earth are the watchers who are ruining things for him, the one who created his misery in the first place.
Earth is a place full of life, Scar was associated with flowers this season, alot of flowers. He lived amongst a valley, a place full of life ( sunflower, berries, the enthusiasm around the area ), in here the people on earth is also associated with the other players, they ruined that home of his for their own gain
Earth is the 3rd planet closest to the sun, earth ahs this atmosphere where it makes the area not too hot and not too cold, he was close enough to the sun, the sun gave him the life he needed, he needed the sun to be alive. Associaiting that to the other seasons too
Pluto, the dwarf planet, far from everyone. Alone. Broken. But also still there
The whole season, Scar experienced having no one the whole time, he had temporary allies but it never sticked. He was alone as he can be
In astrology its represented as the seath, destruction, and the underworld
This can explain why he was the villain, he was meant to break things apart, be the evil one, the one on the bad side.
It can also mean of the fact no one expected him to win, neither did he. Because he was the embodiment of death's favourite. He was also meant to die in the end, but he didnt, its the irony.
This is also the farthest celestial body in the solar system, the farther one from the sun
Again, Grian as the sun, was there. The pluto being farthest does not mean its not revolving around the sun. It was there but it was never taken attention. This symbolize the fact, even apart they're somehow still connected

Has anyone talked about how each member of the Genius Society represents the over reliance on the belief of intelligence but not the act of intelligence?
#like they mostly take up resources and are pseudo-celebrities more than they do useful things#They act more as villains over consuming resources that could be put to better use#If anything more people should hate them#In universe not like as characters#but just like in real life - people don't notice how awful they actually are#I think at one point it's stated that Ruan Mei turned a desert planet into a lush jungle or something?#I cannot emphasize enough -- she fucked over that ecosystem. That was fucked up of her. She killed everything.#And people praised her for it! They don't care about science. They care about the prestige. She's famous. Nous chose *her*#Herta doesn't even do her own work. Nothing would get done if it wasn't for all of her assistants.#Screwllum is god-king of his own planet. I mean he also killed a god-king but you can't go around replacing one with yourself#Which is what makes Ratio so fun. He notices and calls them out.#but also in a way where it's hard to tell if there's jealousy involved or not.#And his version of intelligence is helpful. He gives back to his community. He cares about people first even if they annoy him.#The only Society members I respect are Stephen (baby); the one philanthropist (thin ice); the spider (awesome);#and the serial killer who kills other members who I strongly suspect to be Herta but that's another conversation entirely#Anyway I just think it's odd that they're an obvious analogy for how people think there is such as thing as “intelligence”#that can be declared by some all-knowing all-seeing creature and everyone else is “worthless” by comparison#to even be said as much by a character in the game#and the audience still thinks they're supposed to be smart.#Nous was created by an egotistical man who was himself first recognized by his own biased judging algorithm#The Genius Society isn't the epitome of intelligence they are Silicon Valley#like the parody is so fucking on point there are literal jokes in game if you pay attention

I often think about how Wolfwood walks around the desert with his suit only and carrying that heavy ass cross on his back, so far I think that’s the most batshit insane thing he does
Oh and the loafers what the fuck

An incredibly lazy wee doodle of barn swallows since I'm struggling to sleep and going back to my teenage ritual of drawing birds far too late into the night. Where I live, it will soon be time for the swallows to leave and make their bi-annual 8000 mile migration all the way to South Africa. Summer goes with them, and already my late North European nights seem to be turning dark so soon. A couple of months ago the night would just be a muted blue until dawn would crack with a skylark's song at 3am, and from now it will just be a couple of months until the black sets in before the afternoon ends.
It genuinely makes me want to cry thinking about these matchbox sized little beings throwing themselves into that endless blue all in pursuit of airborne insects, those small bodies making their way over the widening, waterless Sahara, that 40 day excursion that, by mid-October, will be over. How long a journey that seems, how short for a being smaller than my hand.
I'll miss them as much as I'll miss the sun until my late-March birthday comes along again and the spring sky is briefly interrupted by their sudden return, their tumbling bodies celebrating the world waking up again, back - somehow, dare I project a sense of sentiment, remembering - to the very same nests they'd left behind just months ago.

Fic idea in my brain - possibly for a one-shot, because, no, fic-idea! I already have a WIP! Although this was inspired by some stuff I put into a chapter of my WIP to fill out some character-building. Canon-divergent AU where Vash and Nai do not discover Tesla (yet) and the rest of the crew wakes up for their shift. Despite Rem's careful guidance and subterfuge, the crew figures out that Vash and Nai are Independent Plants. Rem's negotiations to let her raise them as people fail, the crew, indeed, wishes to continue physical experiments with fresh specimens and Rem gets them to an escape-shuttle that she had prepared (the very same one used in-canon). It is not just some random escape-shuttle. Rem planned for this potential eventuality and packed extra survival supplies. Maybe there's some kind of mini-Plant in there that she's got programmed on a prolonged survival setting. Maybe she even has written or on-ship computer instructions for the boys to make it for the Fifth Moon on their scanners or Plant Ship 1 or some odd area where they can hide safely. She would have come with them if the last they had seen of her was NOT her getting tasered and restrained by the rest of the crew as the doors sealed. The Big Fall does not happen. Nai never gained access to the fleet-computers via Rem's codes. That's not to say that he doesn't want to crash all the human ships after what happened (and especially after they do find computer records and/or the Plants share Tesla's story with them and they learn exactly what Rem was protecting them from). The boys manage to live on a Plant-relay ship until SEEDS makes a chosen planet-landing on some planet that's better suited to life than No Man's Land - perhaps they wind up on the Fifth Moon for extra flavor - a moon that is better suited for Earth life than a planet. They end up on on this planet, too and eventually find out the whereabouts of Rem. She's not dead, although that might be a temporary condition. She's in a hastily-built SEEDS supermax awaiting trial and potential execution regarding "jeopardising the SEEDS mission by hiding the presence of alien life forms with potentially catastrophic capabilities." They break her out. The little family lives on the run, together. And so, there are three outlaws running around Fifth Moon.

trigun (talking original anime not stampede/manga here as I can’t comment on those yet) is actually genuinely really solid in terms of themes and repeating imagery. the way the very setting of a desert with the associated resource scarcity plays into it all. you get monopolies over water where one family holds everything whilst the surrounding areas are left to rot. but then you have small patches of greenery that could have amounted to nothing but due to years of nurturing they’ve grown up into forests. it’s about what you do with what you’re given and what you choose to pass on to others.
