#like. aaravos was still stopped violently. the love and pacifism agenda did not work (not like anyone even tried to apply it tbh). the fact #it wasn't the protags changes nothing. the global issues behind aaravos were never addressed.#no answer for peace in xadia was actually found (well #none fitting the message and promises of the show. i suppose #we have a more 'gray' answer of a cold war #considering the nukes of duren). tdp just. legitimately didn't deserve its happy ending. (unless its message isn't #'trying a lot to make the world better to then give up is good and common'#which is. well #definitely the case that started popping up in western children's media more often recently #tdp critical #newt's whining #i guess this ending has smth to do with sarai's 'optimistic realism'#and it's probably about the protags keeping their 'true hearts' and freedom of childhood #but like #it feels so cheap and hypocritical #tdp continues its tendency to make some sense metaphorically but be nonsense on the surface level i guess
