After having read around 1100 pages (total of about 34 audiobook hours) of historical romances in little over a week, I can now tell you that Beverly Jenkins' Night song was decidedly the best (I can also tell you I won't self impose a reading marathon like that ever again)
#it's not perfect but man i laughed cried and just was so into it. also learned history the main couple is great they're sweet and#passionate and very respectful (ok there was a certain twist in the story that had me like nope sir but they do work it out and address it)#for the record all that reading amounted to only three books lol#the other two were lord of scoundrels by loretta chase which i did enjoy but it's a guilty pleasure#i had a laugh and tbh it was just FUN and stuff but oh boy does that book have issues#also the audiobook had my favorite narrator out of the three she made that just so good#and the other book was wild wicked scot (yeah i know) by julia london which was cheesy and not great and had#some issues but was mostly alright and kind of harmless read also it was average enough (not great not appalingly#bad) to serve to set the mood because that's the one i read first. props to the narrator because he actually made that scottich accent#decent like i couldn't actually read that in a page and take it seriously. tour service is appreciated sir#laura reads
