Darren Criss to Join ‘Emily in Paris’ Star Ashley Park and Jinkx Monsoon at Kamala Harris Fundraiser at The Abbey

Darren Criss has joined the guest list of celebrities expected at a Kamala Harris fundraiser in West Hollywood on Thursday.

The evening, “A Dance Party for Kamala,” will take place at the iconic LGBTQ bar The Abbey from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Previously announced participants include Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family”), Ashley Park (“Emily in Paris”), Jinkx Monsoon (“RuPaul’s Drag Race”), Colton Underwood (“Coming Out Colton”) and musician Betty Who. Influencers include Caleb Marshall (aka, The Fitness Marshall), Dexter Mayfield, Haley Jordan and Allison Florea. Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman is also expected to attend.

Ticket prices range from $25 to attend to $10,000 to become a chair with access to a pre-reception and reserved table seating for six seats.

“A Dance Party” is hosted by Harris national finance committee members Todd Hawkins and Justin Mikita and The Abbey owner Tristan Schukraft.

The fundraiser comes a week after about 20,000 people joined a LGBTQ community call for Harris. Bold-faced names who spoke during the gathering included Sophia Bush and her girlfriend and former soccer star Ashlyn Harris, Wilson Cruz, Ferguson, Don Lemon and ally and “Wonder Woman” legend Linda Carter.

“We need to come together like never before,” said Cruz (via the Advocate). “Kamala Harris is committed to our community in ways that go beyond mere words. She lives and breathes this fight every day, and I’ve seen it up close.”

While Harris herself won’t be at the Abbey this time around, she made a surprise appearance at the bar when she was a Democratic presidential candidate in 2019 ahead of a CNN town hall about LGBTQ issues.

I’ve got to ask: are CC fans ever sick of the lies their leaders spread? Do they ever say “this is enough!”? Go back to the early days of Glee. Abby, flowers, rouged and the rest will rant on about how Chelsea Handler outed Chris Colfer. In fact, The Advocate ran article in October 2009 - two months before the Handler interview - in which they said he was gay. The following month LOGO posted an article in which the author declined to opine on Colfer’s sexuality because he was under 21 and his answer to an Advocate question regarding whether he was out in high school was answered with him saying that no, people could get killed for something like that in the town where he was brought up. My point here is that people were pretty certain of Chris’ sexuality before the Handler interview, and that the interview has been used to bolster an argument that Ryan Murphy is a horrible man who went on to force poor little Darren Criss into the closet. Odd, as Murphy is a very successful, out since his teens, gay man who created the Kurt character just for Chris Colfer. Once Criss was on the show it became a mania to prove he is gay and in love with Chris. Their timing here gets very rough. They will say that he had to sign a contract saying he was straight. But his first contract was for a few appearances. If, as the CCers have written, they moved in together quite soon after meeting then why did Criss sign a full time cast member contract again requiring him to play straight? Would any of you do the same? Never to be seen with your lover? No dates, shows, red carpets? And if RM was so hell bent on passing Criss off as straight then why was he never seen on a date with a woman? No red carpets, no concerts, no candid photos by the paparazzi? Isn’t that how it’s done? Why allow Darren to tell how he was raised in part by the gay theater community in San Francisco? Why do an article in Out magazine featuring “thirst” pictures? Doesn’t that seem counterproductive to you? Now enter Mia. There are photos of Mia and Darren while he still had long hair so he obviously knew her before Glee. Why no pictures of him with boyfriends while in college? When Matt Bomer came out the response by many in the gay community was not surprised; in fact many knew already as pictures of him with boyfriends during his time in college were known. Was Criss hiding his sexuality long before Glee? Did the evil RM know him or even know of him then? But no, they ignore all of that. They often point to a Trevor Project clip of a Darren interview as being the first time he was introduced to Mia. I ask each of you readers to stick you hand out right now as though you were going to shake someone’s hand. Now look at which hand is out. It is most likely your right hand: people shake one another’s hands using their right hand. But Darren put out his left hand - odd. And the “handshake” is not seen. But the evils sisterhood says it is so and you must believe them. One of the former leaders of the CCers, mleigh69 I believe, “knew” that Darren was gay, that while in New York would go with Chris to gay bars. And yet there are no photos from fans of the duo. Why not? If you saw Darren and Chris out together (or even out separately) wouldn’t you likely snap a pic? Everyone has a phone with a camera these days. The sisters will post pics of Darren at Hedwig, looking up towards the balcony while taking bows, and they say that shows he was looking up at Chris. Was anyone who was in the audience attend on a day that he didn’t look up? The same way he looked up to acknowledge fans in the balcony after How to Succeed? Do they believe that Chris attended every performance of both? And that never once was he noticed by an audience full of fans? Really? This is getting a bit long so I’m going to post in two parts.
