i think looking at the two movies i have seen in theater this year (Madame Web and Furiosa) and noting that I had a blast at both of them is actually a great encapsulation of my tastes and the breadth of art one can like and find fulfilling or that just tickles your brain but also imo is an interesting example of some overlapping aesthetics and themes with pretty different budget and execution

not that they're deeply alike, but like, they're more related to each other than, for example, Pacific Rim and Gravity, which are two other movies I also loved.

anyway it probably comes as no surprise that I also am a staunch defender of Jupiter Ascending lol

#i actually saw pacrim and gravity both twice in theaters but that's because for both the second time was with friends #(also because I loved them ofc)#i also saw itsv twice (thanks bea) when it came out but both alone - i just rlly liked it #nadia rambles #actually noting that there are people criticizing furiosa baselessly makes me think there's a recurring element here...#*clears throat* gee i wonder what that could be #damn just realized i don't have jupiter on dvd... i should add that to my list
