Three years since Covid changed the world, and three years of adjusting to new experiences and expectations none of us could have ever imagined… but we’re still here and we’re still working to define what “normal” even looks like now, and how we might yet make the most of it. For @paigewilhog and I, travel still looks and feels different; so much of the world around us moving as if nothing ever happened, but our reality suggesting it can never be the same as it was. So what do we do? It’s a question I continuously grapple with, and the long term couldn’t seem any hazier, but I do still love travel and I still want to experience so much. Diligence with our plan and our strategy through the pandemic has been tough, it’s been straining, but I’m grateful to be making the journey with someone that understands my quirks and my (at times) compulsive attention to risk management that has included our approach to crowded spaces… there aren’t many people that still accept it. - I have so many photos from our trip to Chicago, and while so many of them are buildings and what I thought were moments with good light, I also have a handful of portraits that likely won’t meet the @paigewilhog approval standards, but I’m glad I have them. The coolest thing about these lagoons are they are fed by natural cool fresh water springs making the water warm and cold as you wade through them. This area is protected by a breakwater so you can enjoy the calm water for snorkeling, floating, and swimming. I think my fav part is the rope swing you can drop into the grove. As poet-philosopher @andre3000 once said: "What's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD!" I have to imagine he was talking about Iceland's glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón, and the adjacent, iceberg-covered Diamond Beach. 🤣❄️ Because there's OBVIOUSLY nothing cooler (*or* more legitimately ice cold) than meandering through massive teal blue chunks of millennia-old ice on a black sand beach, or cruising among iceburgs on a boat tour while you admire Vatnajökull Glacier from afar. 😄 🛥️ Boat tour options on Jökulsárlón lagoon include: a fast-moving tour by Zodiac (a.k.a. a rigid inflatable boat) or a slower-moving (and somewhat cheesier) amphibious boat tour that's fun if you've never ridden a boat on water AND land before. 😅 Pro tip: you'll need to do the amphibious boat tour if you've got kids under 10 who are traveling with you (which we did). Either tour is fun, and if you're lucky, you may even get to spot seals chilling (...literally) on the 'bergs. 🦭🧊 Bonus: you'll probably have a chance to taste ice that's straight from the lagoon, leaving you refreshed for the rest of your adventure! 💙 Would you try this ice?!

I waited for @paigewilhog to share her Galaxy’s Edge photo so we didn’t end up with the same #disneybound in each of our feeds, but I’m still loving the look she went with for this trip!!
