This basic vegan white sauce is quick and easy to make, perfect for those following a dairy-free or vegan diet. It's versatile and can be used as a base for various dishes like pasta, casseroles, or as a creamy topping for vegetables.
Ingredients: 2 tbsp vegan butter. 2 tbsp all-purpose flour. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk. Salt and pepper to taste. Optional: nutritional yeast for added flavor.
Instructions: Take a small saucepan and set it over medium-low heat. As soon as the butter melts, add the all-purpose flour and keep whisking for one to two minutes to cook the flour and make a roux. Slowly add the almond milk while whisking all the time to keep the mixture from getting lumpy. Keep whisking the sauce for another two to three minutes, or until it reaches the consistency you want. Add salt and pepper to taste, and if you want to add more flavor, you can do so by adding nutritional yeast. Take it off the heat and serve right away with pasta, vegetables, or any other dish you like.
