Artfight day 16! The pictured Scullger is Vark’nis. He walks more like a Subaquatic morph than what a Wyvern is meant to walk like, because of how he was raised.

Astronomy Daily - The Podcast: S03E170 Welcome to Astronomy Daily, your source for the latest space and Astronomy news. I'm Anna, your host, and today we have a packed episode covering exciting developments from NASA's Voyager mission to solar flares and lunar rovers. Let's dive into some fascinating stories from across the cosmos. Highlights: - Voyager 2's Ongoing Journey: NASA has made the tough decision to power down the plasma science instrument aboard Voyager 2, now over 12.8 billion miles from Earth, due to diminishing power supply. Despite this, Voyager 2 continues its groundbreaking exploration with four other active instruments, extending its mission well into the 2030s. - Solar Flares and Geomagnetic Storms: The sun unleashed two powerful flares, including an X 7.1 class flare, the second strongest of the current solar cycle. This eruption caused disruptions to radio communications and is expected to trigger a geomagnetic storm, offering a spectacle for Aurora watchers. - Annular Solar Eclipse: Sky watchers in select locations witnessed a stunning annular solar eclipse, transforming the sun into a "ring of fire." This rare celestial event was visible across parts of the Pacific Ocean, including Hawaii, southern Chile, and Argentina. - NASA's Lunar All Terrain Vehicle: As part of the Artemis missions, NASA is developing the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), an unpressurized rover for future lunar exploration. A prototype, the Ground Test Unit (GTU), is being tested at Johnson Space Center to refine the design and ensure safe lunar operations. - Vulcan Centaur Rocket's Second Flight: United Launch Alliance's Vulcan Centaur rocket is set for its second test flight, a crucial step towards certifying it for the US Space Force. This mission, carrying a mass simulator, aims to assess the rocket's performance for future national security missions. - ESA's New Norcia Antenna: The European Space Agency has installed a massive 122-ton reflector dish for its newest deep space communication antenna in New Norcia, Australia. This will enhance ESA's ability to communicate with distant spacecraft and support international missions. For more space news, visit our website at astronomydaily.io. Uhhh, impulse wrote an interaction between Nash and his brother Lucard. (They're both Centaurs, and Nash is undead (alive by day, dead atain by night).)
Feel free to ignore this! (OC posting again lmao-)
"Nash?"
The voice called from down the hall. It was his brother Lucard. The two of them had agreed to hang out and try to rekindle their friendship. Nash hadn't had time before, he was busy saving the world. Now that he was home, though, he could afford to bond with his siblings again.
Especially his beloved little brother.
And yet, as Lucard came looking for him, he felt sick to his stomach. Or rather, he couldn't even feel if his stomach really was churning at all. It had gone numb.
"Nash, where in the realms did you go?"
Again he called.
Nash's stature wasn't easy to hide. It was only when he noticed his skin was clammy, and his liquor wasn't quite giving him the same kick it usually did, that he'd insisted to Lucard that they call it a night. He'd forgotten an important meeting for tomorrow (Lucard knew his schedule better than he did, there was no meeting) and he was tired (Lucard was convinced his brother no longer needed sleep). He'd rushed off. Now he was practically frozen in place just down the hall.
He didn't want to run away from his brother, he really didn't, but...
He'd heard from both their sisters about how hard Lucard had taken Nash's death. Luci said he'd slip into her workshop on late nights and refused to sleep unless she was in eyesight. Trista had told him how Lucard had spent every day for a week just pacing the graveyard, unwilling to see his casket in the mausoleum.
Maldric had told him Lucard hadn't even shown up to the burial.
There was no way he wanted his brother to see him like this. Not again.
It was like slow motion as Lucard turned the corner, that familiar scowl on his face. Nash had forgotten his brother was a Rogue by trade. Of course he'd snuck closer so easily. His hooves were much more careful than Nash's own giant hooves.
Nash watched in, a sort of detachment, as Lucard registered what was stood before him. How, in a matter of seconds, his eyes darted across Nash's entirety before his face fell slack and pale. His eyes focused in on Nash's flank, right where he knew the wounds of old had begun to open and his decaying flesh was exposing itself. Where the bite from the beast that killed him sat just as raw as the day he'd died.
Lucard reared back, his hooves suddenly making tapping sounds against the stone as he lost concentration. His tail swisher in the quiet air, and he couldn't seem to drag his eyes away from the wound.
Nash's heart wasn't beating anymore, nor was his chest moving with breath, but he still felt like they might drop out of his chest from seeing the look of disgust on his brother's face.
"Luc, I'm..."
Nash paused, his voice sounding so quiet for his imposing frame. His brother's gaze finally dragged away from his wound back to Nash's face, measuring every inch of the man's expression.
The Rogue looked away then, dragging a hand through his hair and immediately twisting away, then back, then away again. His hooves were clattering on the floor, and Nash stood flabbergasted, worry lacing his features and furrowing his brow.
Lucard pointed at him, then. It was a quick movement, and Nash himself reared slightly in surprise, backing his flank into the wall behind him with a muffled thud.
"This?!" He insisted, "This- how long have you been hiding this?"
Lucard seemed utterly enraged by this, his hands now both gesturing to, well, all of Nash himself.
"You're fuckin'... Your blessing didn't fix you? You're still- you're-" He stopped, before stamping a hoof against the ground in rage. "You're still dead."
Even from where Nash stood, he could see the way his brother turned away from him, his face growing terse. Lucard's chest rose and fell heavily with deeply inhaled breath, and Nash instantly felt worse than he had before.
"Lucard, I know it hurt you to see me like this. I-" He took a moment to breathe, before remembering he couldn't, "I didn't want to hurt you more. By making you see me like this."
The large centaur seemed to almost shrink in on himself as his smaller sibling turned back to him, a fury in his eyes. He seemed like he wanted to kick something as he flailed one of his arms outwards with his next words.
"You," He pointed harshly at Nash, "didn't want to hurt me?" He pointed at himself in question, "That's real rich coming from the one who keeps fucking running away from me. Who abandoned me and Luci to- to what? Join a herd? Join an adventuring party?"
His words were turning into something louder, his furious gaze centered on his older brother.
"You died on me, Nash." He accused, before using his hands to once again card through his own hair. "And yet you're still running from me!"
His voice nearly cracked as he shouted the last word, and he grit his teeth. His chest was rising more frequently now, and Nash couldn't think of any way to help. He was at a loss for words.
And then, for once, he had an idea.
It was a bad one, but his brother was still seething and was starting to paw at the floor, and that shouting probably woke up Luci or Elid, and all of this was eating at him like acid.
So, Nash took only about two steps forward, quick ones that shook the floor a little bit, and he wrapped his strong arms around his younger siblings shoulders, constricting him into a gentle hug.
When Lucard didn't immediately start thrashing, Nash spoke tentatively.
"I've lied before to you. You don't have a reason to forgive me so easily. I don't expect you to." He hurriedly prefaced before he rested his chin atop Lucard's head, "The war is over, though. If you like, just watch. I won't leave you alone again. If I do go, I'll ask you to come with."
Then after a moment.
"I'm sorry, Lucard."
There was no shifting for quite a few moments, before Lucard seemed to sink slightly farther into Nash. One of his arms wrapped one of Nash's. His breathing seemed to calm.
"You're cold. You're heart's not beating. You're definitely not breathing." Lucard whispered after a few minutes, which made Nash lift his head slightly so he brother could look up at him. "But," a slight grin stretched across Lucard's face, "You're still as sappy as ever, you huge asshole."
Lucard tapped at Nash's arm before he slipped away, and when he chuckled, Nash too laughed (though it was a bit more strained).
The younger centaur took a few steps away to look at his older siblings one more time before he sighed.
"You don't get out of our drinking night though. And I'm expecting you to tell me why in the realms you're like this still."
Lucard insisted suddenly, and Nash rubbed at the back of his neck, barely containing a groan beneath a strained smile. This would be a long night.

I can see Idia having advanced technology like those hologram keypads in that one trailer, but for the life of me, I can’t see him knowing what a blender is. Like the concept of one would blow his mind while he types it out on his magic holograms
Tumblr media
Idia is the descendant of The King of The Underworld Hades (Who is still alive in my AU, by the way) and grew up with more technologies than most of Twisted Wonderland has due to Hades keeping a rather large number of Humans on the Isle of Woe. Many of the technologies the Shrouds have access to cannot be found anywhere else because Humans happily gave their ideas and technological abilities to the Shrouds as a way of thanks for the safety Hades provided to them.
Idia and Ortho have their screens and magical holograms because the last population of Humans lived on the Isle of Woe and Idia has been taught quite a bit of his own technological prowess thanks to Hades and the pre-existing things the Shrouds have available to them that they have not yet released to the rest of Twisted Wonderland.
Food oriented creations (blender, mixer, air-fryer, fryer, microwave, ect) were not created yet as Humans were the primary cooks and inventors of Twisted Wonderland, so when they died out, such things were never seen as needed by the other species that make up the general population so they were never invented. Some species and places did carry on the culinary traditions of Humans, but without the need for non-magical tools, they never had to make things to aid in the process of cooking.
Technologies like phones were still in very early development when Humans finally died out, but these things were useful to the masses of Twisted Wonderland and so they were advanced where other technologies were not. Things that could be used with magic were advanced and most non-magic tech was left behind by the monster-men of Twisted Wonderland.
Idia is going to have a field-day when it is his turn to protect the NRC Human. Not only does this Human have knowledge of technologies beyond the world of Twisted Wonderland, they also have their own ideas for things that could really be of great use to the people of Twisted Wonderland.
Hades- who is asking/receiving constant updates from his descendants- will happily use his own resources to help Idia prototype and craft these technological ideas. He will do this both because he wants to befriend this Human- as he deeply misses Humans in general- but so he can also benefit from these ideas. There is little as inventive as a Human looking to make their own lives easier as they can't rely on magic to do things for them or solve their problems. He will ensure there are magic-fueled items- for the general public of Twisted Wonderland- and non-magic items so the little Human can use them as well.
First thing on that Human's list is Heating-pads and heated-blankets. Not only will such things be useful for the Human to have (ie. during the winter months/during their own hormonal cycle) but it would also be incredibly useful for these monster-men to have. Naga and other cold-blooded species who need to sun in the mornings would benefit greatly from a heated blanket that they can use to warm up their snake halves. Species that struggle with heat retention (Centaur/Cervitaur types, Earth Nymphs, and Gnolls) would benefit from an external heat source in winter.

Monster Ark
Tumblr media
The Ark is a ship on a 1000 year voyage to take the survivors of a dying fantasy world to a new home. They live in a massive biosphere without knowing it. The ship is controlled by The Captain. A radiation leak caused massive fertility decline in the specimens so The Captain has been kidnapping humans to be used to encourage copulation among the specimens. The humans have womb tattoos that act as tags to keep track of individual humans. The womb tattoos also send vitals back to The Captain so they can track the progress of the mission. Furthermore, the tattoos have color cycles to indicate fertility on those with wombs, glowing pink when ovulation is occurring.
The humans brought to the Ark and the creatures living in the Ark have no idea this is a ship. Many of the sapient monsters think the gods have given them humans to be able to reproduce. The world is functionally a fantasy world.
Monsters fall into three distinct categories: Sapients, Semi-Sapients, and Non-Sapients. Sapient species have cultures, complex language, and larger society structures with hierarchies. Semi-Sapient species have small family pack units, very limit tool use, rudimentary language use, no formal chosen hierarchies. Non-sapient species have no indication of higher intelligence or formalized socialization and only function on instinct.
Below the cut is a list of the creatures so far and their pregnancy details. Will also be linking them to lore posts for the creatures as I make lore for them! Some of these rankings and classifications will probably change. Had a close friend help me a lot with the world building ^^
You can ask to be added to my taglist in the replies!

@wolfstarmicrofic 8th: Arrow
797 words.
Warning: Injury
James is not going to sit there as Remus wakes up in the Hospital Wing and explain to him why Sirius isn't there. He can't.
Hold On
“No, no, no, no,” James lets himself fall to the ground next to the bundle lying on the muddy forest floor. “Pads? Padfoot, can you hear me?”
There's no response.
James places his arm behind Sirius’ neck and carefully lifts his head. His other hand he places in Sirius’ neck, searching for a pulse, which thank Godric, he finds, but weak, so weak. “Sirius? Sirius!”
Sirius’ eyes open and he seems aware of James’ presence as he tries to say something, but only a pained groan comes out, before his eyes fall shut again.
Panic rises in James’ chest as he scrambles for his wand, muttering what little Healing Spells he knows.
“I heard the younglings talk this morning.” Firenze looks down at James. “How they spotted a dark hound the size of an Erumpent roaming the forest, thinking it to be a dark creature, or even a Grimm, rumored to bring ill tidings. So they fired their arrows at the creature. When I came to investigate this morning, I found him.”
James can barely look at the wound, the gruesome sight of the arrow protruding from Sirius’ stomach. Though the arrow still being lodged in his stomach is probably the only reason Sirius hasn't bled out this night.
Sirius has opened his eyes again and his gaze shifts down, but James quickly places a hand on his cheek. “Just keep looking at me, Siri.” He desperately mutters a few more Healing Spells.
“An injury inflicted by Centaur-forged weapons cannot be healed as if it were a common Muggle arrow,” Firenze says disdainfully.
James looks up at him. “Can you help him?” He begs. “Please?"
“Will you retaliate?” Firenze asks cooly. “Our young ones learn to not harm wizarding children, even the ones foolish enough to wander into our forest, but we couldn't have anticipated one shaped like a Grimm. We know very well how vengeful wizards can be, how little regard you have for beings other than your own. Will your people take their vengeance on our herd, retaliate against our younglings?”
“Retali-” James shakes his head. “No. No, I don't care about blame, or retaliation. I just want him to live.” He looks up at Firenze pleadingly. “I need him to live. Please…”
“Moony…” Sirius manages to say.
“Moony is okay,” James says soothingly, brushing Sirius’ hair from his face. “The full moon has passed. He's in the castle, sleeping.”
“You change your appearance to run with the wolf of the lunar cycle,” Firenze states.
“He's our friend,” James simply says without taking his eyes off Sirius.
“Not many wizards would call a halfling between human and beast a friend,” Firenze muses.
“Well, he is,” James says shortly. If the centaur isn't going to help, he wishes he would be quiet, so James can think of something to save Sirius himself. There has to be something. There has to be.
“We have a Healer skilled in treating these kinds of wounds,” Firenze suddenly says. “I will bring him here. Try to keep him awake in the meantime,” he adds, resting his eyes on Sirius’ form. “I fear that if he slips away now, he won't make it back.”
“Padfoot, stay awake! You must stay with me, do you hear?”
As Firenze disappears between the trees, Sirius’ head slowly slides backwards.
“Hurts,” Sirius mumbles.
“I know, Pads, I know. But you have to hold on just a little longer, okay?”
Sirius’ breathing is getting slower.
“Sirius,” James begs. “Please, don't leave.”
Sirius just looks at him with empty eyes.
“Moony’s going to wake up in the Hospital Wing,” a sob escapes James. “Groggy and sore like he always is, and his eyes will immediately search yours. They always do, you know that. You're always the first person he sees, you're always where he finds comfort. You can't let me sit there, have Remus look at me questioningly, confused, and for me to have to tell him…” James’ voice breaks, and he shakely takes a breath in. “To have to tell him that you're… that you didn't… that I couldn't… You can't do that to me, Sirius!” He balls his fist and clutches Sirius’ robe. “And it happened during the full moon.” He squeezes his eyes shut, unable to stop the words spilling out of him. “He's going to blame himself. He's going to fall apart. He's going to fall apart, and I can't put him back together, not without you, Sirius! I need you there, for Moony. For Moony, okay?”
James meets Sirius’ eyes again, and something has changed. There's a determination there that wasn't there before. As they look at each other, something passes between them.
Sirius is going to stay awake.
He will try.
In the distance, James hears the sound of hooves approaching.

Having just read/reread 2/3 of the serieses, the most interesting side character in the assorted Percy Jackson books is definitely Chiron. Explicitly or very clearly implicitly canonical facts about PJO!Chiron:
Obviously, Chiron is the metaphorical heart of Camp Half Blood, and the one actually in charge of it regardless of whoever the gods appoint as Camp Director. He’s the best parent a lot of these kids ever have. If Chiron isn’t at Camp, something is wrong, either at Camp or something is so wrong elsewhere that he’s off dealing with it. If Chiron goes down in a fight, it is quite literally time to Panic.
He was blessed/cursed by the gods with immortal life “so long as there are heroes to train.”
Because demigod lives are the way they are, this has trapped him in an endless grieving cycle of training young people just enough to survive for a little longer before they’re killed. Enough to die heroically at age 15 rather than desperately at age 12, like.
His unhappiness with this mostly comes out in vague allusions to the fact that you will probably die on this quest, which he refuses to elaborate on, instead forcing a smile back into his face and handing you a first aid kit for the road.
Because of this? he never goes to Olympus unless explicitly summoned. This isn’t something that’s been barred to him, it’s a matter of principle.
Because of all this? the gods immediately scapegoat him for tree!Thalia’s poisoning, despite the fact that literally half of them are also Kronos’s children.
Despite all this, there is absolutely no indication that any villain ever attempts to suborn Chiron by offering him, and/or the youths under his care, a better deal. Presumably because they know he’d tell them (politely) to fuck right off.
Grieve though he does, care deeply for every child who comes under his care though he does, he is never (outright) cynical nor does he hesitate to embrace the mythological genre and role he’s in. He trains, guides, and guards where he can…and he encourages them to be heroes, risky though that is. The second it might be safe, he helps Rachel attempt to become the new Oracle, even though the last person to try went mad. He takes a dozen kids who came to Camp Half-Blood for the first time 2 weeks ago into potentially deadly battle to save NYC, as a “field trip.”
Chiron is as good at archery as Apollo at his best (Apollo admits this, privately). I don’t think we ever see him shoot an arrow that’s not a successful kill shot.
In about 36 hours, Chiron can raise a small army of wild centaurs from any or all herds throughout North America. There is no indication that centaurs will regularly listen to anyone else.
He’s an honorary member of the ruling council of satyrs.
Chiron periodically coordinates with hero-trainers from other mythologies to avert truly world-shattering disasters. He does not seem to regard this as the gods’ business.
He likes Dean Martin.
Truly the epitome of that one good teacher who genuinely understands and supports you as best they can while dealing with an unhelpful and often unfriendly school administration, whom you eventually realize is somehow even cooler in their non-school life!
