WIP WEDNESDAY WHENEVER

I got tagged by @ghostoffuturespast and @chevvy-yates for WIP Wednesday Whenever. It is Wednesday where I am so that works out!

Firstly, things that are no longer WIP:

I made a mod!

I'm working on creating some tattoo replacers for the Johnny + V tattoo. The first release is Ros + V and So Mi + V, for all the dedicated SongV and Myers x V shippers out there. If you're looking for a fairly innocuous display of your V's OTP, look no further!

I have plans to expand this to the most popular Phantom Liberty characters, including Colonel Hansen, Bennett, Jago, Reed and Alex. Suggestions are welcome.

Now, WIP:

I'm going to be honest, I haven't written shit this week... but that's because I'm working on CyberNoir 1957 and a couple of other photo stories.

CyberNoir 1957

CyberNoir 1957 is Cyberpunk, but with a Noir influence, occuring within the Brother's Shadow timeline. Val, the half-sister of Vincent 'V' Gonzalez, and known to be a member of the Mox, follows Judy's story arc as a 1950s Private Eye. Currently, she's investigating the hive of debauchery known as 'Clouds' in search for Judy Alvarez's 'friend' Evelyn.

Part 3 of CyberNoir will come out by the end of the week.

I Made a Cop AU

Your eyes do not deceive you. I introduce to you Detective Valerie Ocampo-Gonzalez, NCPD.

Testing the NCPD V Equipment mod and I made a theoretical Val, if she decided against joining the Mox and became a Badge instead. Obviously, Judy does not approve and they stop being friends, so Val marries Melanie.

Val also becomes close friends with River Ward and... Harold Han (aka the guy who covered up the assassination of Lucius Rhyne for Weldon Holt). River does not initially trust Val, partly because she had connections to a gang, and partly because Han had warmed up to her so quickly. Eventually, Val works with V (a completely original V, not sure if I want them to be Masc or Fem yet) and River to unveil the truth behind Rhyne's death, and River finally trusts her, resulting in this exchange...

(I genuinely like River, but he's not really Val's type).

The President's Lady

Still plugging away at Chapter 4. I want to develop the relationship between Vega and Myers a little bit before we go back to the Reed POV as he begins his dark descent into treason.

The Presidential AV sat on the White House lawn, the port access door flanked by a pair of Marines in Dress Blues. They saluted as the President approached, having changed into her iconic suit once more. Myers adjusted her Aviators, returning their salute as she boarded the AV. V followed closely behind. Myers held her hand out to V, “Up you get.” V took her hand. One of the Marines flinched slightly, perhaps shocked, perhaps angered. Either way, it was not their place to question the President’s decisions. With all passengers accounted for, one of the Marines boarded, and the other helped seal the hatch, backing away as the green and white Presidential AV lifted off the turf, the wash of its engines blowing grass out of the ground as it lifted up and away.

The President's Lady | Myths and Legends - The V Kidnap Conspiracy Theory

Just how did V fall into the hands of Madame President? Some believe that V went willingly, perhaps under the sway of false pretenses. Others believe that Myers gave V little choice in the matter, forcing her to accept the FIA's offer or suffer some unspecified bad ending at the NUSA's hands.

A small group of conspiracy theorists actually believe that Myers herself took V out of Night City on her back while V was staying at her then-girlfriend's place in Kabuki. There are no reports, official or otherwise, of the President doing this.

However, one grainy picture of two people carrying someone who physically resembles V, leaving a Kabuki apartment complex, has surfaced in recent months. The image, attributed to a man named 'Garry the Prophet' shows a woman resembling President Myers carrying a woman, resembling V, on her back. The armed man resembles a bouncer from Dino's bar in City Centre.

The provenance of this image cannot be verified, and the source has disappeared in recent days.

Vega Hawse | The President's Lady

This all connects to Chorus Timelines, bear with me.

In an alternate timeline, V did not return to Night City as chronicled in 'The Tower.' Instead, President Myers and Solomon Reed arranged to fake V's death and secretly spirit her away to an FIA lab to cure her terminal illness, caused by the prototype Relic chip containing Johnny Silverhand.

To the world, V died in a blaze of glory fighting Arasaka, and life went on.

Two years later, a woman resembling V began to appear more often in proximity to the President. Myers is rarely photographed without this woman, and her characteristic copper hair, present. The White House has refused to make confirm her identity, or her connection to Myers, and has refused to comment on whether or not the woman in question is, in fact, V.

A small group of conspiracy theorists in Night City had begun to put together pieces of info that indicate that a vast FIA conspiracy was executed to fake V's death for unknown purposes. Some of these conspiracy theorists believe that the President may have brainwashed V and made her forget about her past life as a Night City merc, using secret Militech technology long hidden from public eye.

Nationality/Ethnicity: I was born in Seattle, which technically makes me a citizen of the Western Corpo States. Both of my parents were white.

Fave Fruit: Pineapple. Sometimes, even on pizza. I've been told that's bad, but fuck me I didn't realise we were all conformist sheep in 2079.

Fave Season: No season is fun in Night City. It's either dry and cold as fuck, or it's 100% humidity, swimming through the air... oh and the rain is acidic and burns your eyes. Honestly, it's the fall. Nice reminder that everything's in a constant cycle of renewal.

Fave Flower: Japanese Cherry Blossoms. They're so delicate, and while pretty, they're short lived... the best people in Night City are like sakura. They bloom, live short, brilliant lives, then they die as quickly.

Val's more like a peony. Hardy, yet beautiful. Her ex is a fuckin' gonk for letting this one slip through his fingers.

Fave Scent: Val bought a peach-scented spray for the apartment the other week and it's now everything to me. Really masks out the smell of rotting garbage that permeates Japantown.

Coffee, Tea, or HC: Hot Chocolate. They sweeten the shit with scop paste but fuck me if it isn't addictive. Just don't tell 'er I'm drinkin' it. 'kay?

Average Hours of Sleep: More than what Val gets when she's tuning virtus for the Mox, that's for sure. Somewhere between 6-8 hours.

Dog or Cat Person: I'm a dog person, but Val has this ginger cat, she's grown on me though.

Dream Trip: Love to go somewhere tropical. Not sure exactly where, but I just want to relax on a beach with a mojito.

Favourite Fictional Character: John Wick, not just because he's fuckin' brutal in those BDs, but he also kinda looks like Johnny Silverhand.

Number of Blankets They Sleep With: One. I tend to run a little hot, but Val really feels the cold. So sometimes I'm buried under a mountain of blankets. She's lucky I love her.

Random Fact: Promise not to share this with too many people? There's a little secret I've been keeping from Val... I've been tuning some of the raw BDs from Lizzie's she's been working on, help take the workload off her. Doesn't seem right that Susie Q expects her to do that job alone.

Where Has Durian Been?

Firstly, I've been on a bit of a tumblr hiatus. There's something screwy with my feed that means I'm not seeing everyone's new stuff (some people yes, but for others it's weeks, even months old). I stopped posting for a bit in the hopes it was something on my end. Alas, it appears not to be so.

I have elected to therefore charge ahead and just post anyway.

Yet Another Valerie Ocampo-Gonzalez Lore Rewrite/Character Respec

I've recently become very interested in netrunners, and in a move that I feel fits Val's established backstory well, she's becoming one.

Vik is surprised to find that not only has Val had two girlfriends in one year (she has relationship dramas that are often not her fault) but they have the same haircut! Clearly she has a type...

As some may be aware, I recently began writing The President's Lady, a Myers x Vega 'V' Hawse AU fic. I made some changes to Val's speciality and abilities.

Val has moved from being a Solo with a strong techie background to a netrunner. In a lore post coming up soon, Val goes on the net by the handle 's33lynx' (a play on the word 'lynx' and 'c-link', the latter being the official name for the interface plug on the back of netrunners' heads, and the former her favourite type of cat). She loses the Apogee Sandevistan for Class III netrunning hardware.

Otherwise, there's no major change in her character.

(also, if you know how to do tattoos for the VTK texture system and would be interested in a commission or request, hit me up, I have cool ideas for Val's tattoos that I've drawn sketches of, but no real idea of how to make them appear on Val's body because I ain't really a visual artist. I know my strengths, I'm a writer, not a visual artist haha)

Val's Pussy... cat, I mean cat!!!

xBaebsae released a Nibbles replacer mod about a year ago. I mentioned Val is a cat person and owned a ginger cat.

This is Pumpkin, Val's cat. In both appearances of Val (Brother's Shadow and Chorus) she's Val's cat, and both times, she's a gift from Melanie Foster. In Brother's Shadow, Melanie, of course, ghosts Val for unspecified reasons, so Val keeps Pumpkin. Pumpkin (or more appropriately, calabaza) is Judy's pet name for Val, so there's also that, I guess.

Writing Projects Continue

I am continuing to write Chapter 4 of Brother's Shadow. It's gone through the wringer as my perfectionism has once again claimed another victim. Rest assured that if you're interested in that story, it will come out before Christmas.

Chapter 3 of The President's Lady is also coming out by the end of tomorrow. Those who have me on Discord have already seen a preview, but if you're not one of those people, have a look:

Myers grinned as she placed her chin on V’s shoulder, “I can relate to that loneliness. It’s easier to talk about with someone who’s experienced it.” V nodded, “Yeah.” Myers’ hands began to explore beyond Vega’s arms, towards her hips, “If I’m out of line…” Vega felt��� odd. The President… Rosalind was her boss… but at the same time, Rosalind was the only other person who really knew how Vega felt. She didn’t really want her to stop exploring. All Vega could do was smile, and follow Myers’ hands, “Glad to see we’re on the same wavelength.” The door creaked. Vega’s smile faded as Myers’ hands quickly retreated from Vega’s body. Reed stomped into the room. Myers clasped her hands as she turned to face him, “Solomon.” Reed eyed the pair of ladies. He seemed somewhat suspicious as he held up a sealed shard container, “The report, Madame President."

There are now two new projects in the pipeline. The first is The Alpha Bitch of Dogtown, a story about my femV character Vega becoming the leader of BARGHEST and Dogtown after allying with Colonel Hansen in an alternate ending to Phantom Liberty.

After being dumped by Judy (it's Vega's canon event for Judy to leave/move on from her due to various reasons), she falls in love with Bennett, who she then dumps and exiles from Dogtown after he is revealed to betray her, and she falls in love with another BARGHEST soldier who she has grown close to.

It forms part of Chorus Timelines, an AU where basically any time something begins to rot my brain, a new timeline is created where said brainrot occurs. Vega goes through a lot, I feel sorry for her.

The second is an as-yet untitled Rogue x V fic, based on an idea I developed spontaneously on Discord. I thank @merlgeim and @awwwokay for planting the seed of brainrot in my mind. Basically, Rogue falls for V(ega) after Johnny and Rogue go on their movie date, and Johnny is beside himself over it all. Queue funny interactions with Johnny about how V stole his girl.

Virtual Photography

My VP is in a moment where I come up with cool ideas, I snap them, and they either become photo stories or illustrations for future chapters of my fics. I have a few non-specific ideas that will get put through, including another Val x Judy photo story set in 2077.

I've kinda based it around one idea, and that's putting V (Val's half-brother) to rest in the columbarium after he is presumably killed at the Crystal Palace. It's the last act she does before she and Judy leave Night City with the Aldecaldos, and a capstone to the tumultuous relationship she and V have had, with Vince's final epitaph.

"See ya, V. Save a seat for me next to mom at the big bar in the sky."

What I intend to be the last words of Valerie to V in Brother's Shadow. How we get there? We'll have to find out as I develop Brother's Shadow.

I've decided that at some point, Val and Songbird can meet and be very normal about how similar their hair is.
