Under federal law, plans are required to cover COVID-19 vaccines at no cost to you through providers within your insurer's network. If there are no vaccinators in your network who can offer the shots, insurers are required to cover the service out-of-network without cost sharing.
-----
I spent over an hour on the phone with my insurance company trying to get Walmart's system to accept my insurance for the COVID booster. It ended up being a waste of time since contrary to what the pharmacy tech said when I first asked, they didn't even have Pfizer there. I suggest calling where you want to get the shot, and talking to your insurance company ahead of time.
My insurance said I have to get the shot in a doctor's office which makes no sense since they then have to pay more. That's moot though since doctor's offices don't have the updated booster.
The insurance company said to send the bill in to them after I pay the $199 for the shot, and I'll be reimbursed. I'm afraid they'll just claim it was out of network, regardless of what the law says.
ETA: I'm currently on hold with my insurance trying to hash this out.
ETA: They said the conversations are recorded, so I wrote down her name, the date and time of when she said they would reimburse me. I should have recorded it too, but I never think of that at the time.
The federal government's Bridge Access Program will also cover the cost of shots for the 25 million to 30 million uninsured adults in the U.S., according to KFF Health News. The program will pay for pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS to provide the shots for free, while Pfizer and Moderna will also donate a certain number of doses, according to the CDC.
Visit Vaccines.gov to identify pharmacies with available doses, as well as those participating in the Bridge Access Program.

for the honesty hour, what got u into tma?
okay okay SO. sort of a long story, buckle up. this tale actually technically starts a couple years before i even listened to the podcast; it's not really a necessary part of the story but i think it gives some neat extra context.
so back in 2018, i was getting into horror for the first time, particularly psychological horror (i still can't really deal with slashers or gore or anything, so psychological horror is my spooks of choice lol). and in the art class i was taking, one of my desk neighbors would give me recommendations. they had recommended Doki Doki Literature Club to me, and i'd loved it! so when they recommended me a podcast called The Magnus Archives, i went home and checked it out...by poking around on the wiki for a little bit to suss out the kinds of spooks it entailed. poking it with a long stick to see if it would bite me, as it were. i read through the wiki synopsis for a random episode (which was MAG 034 - Anatomy Class), decided it was too scary for me, didn't listen to it, and subsequently completely forgot about the entire thing.
jump forward to 2021, i once again had a vague awareness of Magnus due to following some artists for fandoms like Hermitcraft and YTTD who also made art for TMA. at this point it was kinda just in my periphery? i hadn't really given listening a second thought yet.
...and then in December i got covid for the first time, totally smacking down all plans of going out to do stuff or visiting friends.
so like, i had absolutely nothing to do for the holidays. i mean, i'd started playing Deltarune chapter 2, so i had that going for me, but that was it. i was bored outta my mind. and then one evening, i was scrolling aimlessly through tumblr at like 12 in the morning when a piece of jmart fanart caught my eye. i wound up searching the TMA tag, and after watching @/faerie--kei's fantastic Home PMV, i was Deeply Intrigued and Very Curious. the next morning i decided to start listening, and the subsequent two weeks absolutely rewired my brain.
and yknow how i mentioned that back in 2018 i had been told about this podcast, but didn't pick it up til three years later? the entire first thirty-three episodes felt strangely familiar, and then i listened to MAG 034 and went "OH HEY WAIT I READ ABOUT THIS ONCE DIDN'T I." and then it became my favorite episode!! so it came full-circle; the episode that initially scared me off became one of the ones i love the most.
i actually think i finished MAG 200 on the evening of Christmas Day? so that was a nice little gift to end my holiday, lol. i remember sitting on my bed after 199 like "wow. this is it. and i know how it ends." (due to aforementioned PMV.) "but maybe it won't actually end that way??? One Can Only Hope :)" and then i listened to 200 and yeah. ouch. i have been insane about this podcast ever since.
so uh the short answer is "the throes of boredom caused by sickness." i'm actually re-listening to it currently, much more slowly, since it's been a couple years. it's just as good as the first time, maybe even moreso because now i don't just have a vague idea of where everything goes, i know exactly when and how things go downhill. fun times :D

Hey guys, i dont know why but like... i guess over the span of which i had covid i lost... iunno, quite a couple of pounds?
Like with my typical attire i think i weighed like... 199 pounds or so? But i think thats only with that attire, regardless, i suppose i lost quite a bit of weight over the weeks with covid without eating a whole lot...
... but then im sorta worried that i could even be potentially losing weight to other means? Huff...
It could be post-/covid related or anxiety related and im honestly really unsure. I apparently weighed 200 pounds when i went to the ER, i guess they also rounded up my weight? Im unsure, but i was only wearing my shirt, pants, and shoes when that happened. I dont think not eating a whole lot over the span of 3 days would cause one who is wearing what would be relatively light clothes to lose that much weight.
Then again, i dont know, it is most likely covid/anxiety related, it could be because I haven't eaten a whole lot.
I truly do not know! I do not know....
Also as to the hospital/ER visit, i am unsure if i even shared it, but i did leave the ER and they did tell me everything with my heart and blood levels is fine and its possible that it is stress related.

this ^report is from 2020. However- much news has since been reported about the staggering increase of wealth 'at the top' since COVID began.
"...Canadian capitalism is exposed in the study as an oligarchic social order.
According to the PBO, the share of wealth held by the top one percent of Canadians is 25.6 percent. This is almost double the estimate of 13.7 percent given by Statistics Canada."
@allthecanadianpolitics good resource article here.

1. Wear a mask but not just any mask in public spaces. 2. Focus on reducing or stopping transmission in your community. 3. Keep your children out of schools this January unless strict precautions are in place. 4. If you are sick, quarantine yourself for a full 10 days. Do not follow the new CDC isolation rule. 5. Advocate for and use rapid tests. 6. Don’t lower your guard just because many public health officials have characterized symptoms of Omicron as ‘mild.’ 7. Prepare for systems to break down and the vulnerable to bear the brunt.

mid november weight loss thoughts!
No progress on the scale yet this month, but plenty of progress reinforcing the positive habits that will keep me happy and healthy for a long time.
I spent the first week of november at my bfs house with no access to a scale and not much control over what I ate. All i could do was load up on veggies and portion control. In the past i’d usually gain a little weight at his place (munchies, good food, bigger portions, and keeping up w the boys) but this time around I maintained.
Went home for like a day, then went BACK to his house for the veterans day weekend to celebrate our 4 year anni. On saturday, we ate a DELICIOUS meal at an all-you-can-eat brazilian steakhouse. Had desserts. Honestly went pretty hard with the food but didn’t overcorrect the next day. And I’ve settled right back to where I ended october, so perfect maintenance for the past 2 weeks. Fine with me!
So some wins there were…
1) I’m pretty good at intuitively eating at maintenance (at my current weight)!
2) I made a lot of small healthy decisions that I get to continue making forevermore.
3) I didn’t let the disordered thoughts mess up the positive headspace I’ve been able to keep through this all. No overcorrecting, just getting back to where I was.
So on that note, I’m just picking the weight loss up right where I left off. I’m at 199 lbs so far. :-) was originally aiming for 195 in november, but that’s feeling too quick now. So.
as of yesterday, there are 50 days until Jan 1! So i’m spending the next 50 days focused on weighing in at 195 (or lower)! That’ll be a 10+ lb weight loss overall, which I will be so happy to celebrate on NYE.
The small goals stack up.
I think it’s helpful to have a super attainable short term weight loss goal. I don’t want to set a final goal weight, but I can commit to losing a few lbs at a time. That’s how I got below 200, and that’s how I’ll get to 195. I’m taking things one increment at a time and planning to take a break when I’d have to take drastic measures to continue. No clue when that’ll be, but I’m still going strong.
I’m going to prioritize spending weekdays at home where I have more control over my food while still enjoying social dining out.
Also prioritizing waking up early so I can end work before the sun sets and go for my daily walk. My walks are the highlight of my day. I love seeing familiar faces out around my neighborhood. It doesn’t take any discipline at all to go out for an hour every day. I think this is going to be a big pillar of lifelong health. When exercise is just a part of my routine, it’s so easy to prioritize. I actively love it. Plus ive been speed walking bc its fucking CHILLY! Yay cardio!
Ive also been reallyyyy craving running again. I used to run a lot btwn 2016-2020 but stopped after becoming depressed during COVID. Then I gained weight and every time I’ve wanted to return to it, my body doesn’t adjust well and I have a bit of pain. That’s given me more motivation to keep up the weight loss. Physical fitness is so important and I need to be able to run. We are MEANT to run. I’ll try again when I’m closer to 195-190. :-) until then I get to strength train and build up to that goal.
Okay i think thats enough of a brain dump!! Thank u for reading!

Navigating Digital Ministry with Ryan Dunn | Episode 199
https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-6ai9m-16c96b9 The importance of digital ministry was made clear during COVID when churches had to go all digital.  But now that we are all back in the pews, is there still a need for digital ministry?  If so, what does it look like beyond livestreaming Sunday worship? I talk with Ryan Dunn, a minister for online engagement with the United Methodist Church on…

So it seems this reading is looking at memory in collective terms; that is, how one major social and/or political change can result in an alteration of memory for everyone within a nation-state.
When I was initially looking into this topic, I was more so invested in the idea of how our individual experiences can (re)shape our past memories. Almost as if to question if they were real in the first place. In the sense of this reading, memory almost becomes collaborative.
Memory itself also becomes a medium to spark social change, including changes in "human minds, hearts, and habits" (Assmann 199). This is especially important not just when it comes to confronting violent global conflicts of the past, as well as their social and political implications, but to confronting more interrelated conflicts (ie. between two close individuals). There's also this distinction between forgetting and remembering as a means of confronting the past, with the former being known to promote progress, while the latter supposedly impedes it. I think both are inherently flawed, though; forgetting may mean that you disregard the long-standing social and political impacts that certain events have had. Depending on the individual, remembering may lead to a sense of optimism that prevents acknowledgement or exposure to the harsh realities of life. I then believe that both kinds involve disillusionment, with those who forget thinking they are independent from the past, while those who remember thinking they are connected to it.
It seems forgetting is also important because it allows for the ending of "mutual hatred;" that is, an overall discontentment between nation states, even given a significant amount of time after the end of a conflict. This could tie well into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well.
The "pact of silence" or "moment of silence" is almost symbolic of both remembering and forgetting (Assmann 201). On the one hand, it promotes mindfulness, and on the other, it promotes a de-cluttering of the mind.
My choice of cotton is also symbolic of a "bandaging" of the wounds of the past. Cool!
Ah, the reading goes into the duality of forgetting that I am getting at; forgetting as leaving behind vs suppressing (Assmann 201).
Modernism vs. moralism, forgetting vs. remembering.
There's also the role of historical archives that the reading touches upon, which I think is interesting (Assmann 201). Without this reading, which in itself can serve as an archiving of history (albeit in part), I doubt I would be able to gain the insights that I have.
While the example of the Holocaust TV series certainly serves as one that produced empathy for the Jewish victims of WW2, certain media can also inspire discourse, hatred, apathy, etc (Assmann 202). In this sense, memory is truly a double-edged sword.
This idea of intergenerational conflict also relates to what I have said about conflict being interrelated or between two or more people. The differences in values, emotions, mindset, and memories are very different between generations, even if they have experienced the same traumatic events (ie. COVID-19). Even if everyone's memory is coloured the same, the shapes, textures, and messages that are formed are entirely different.
I think these differences are then influenced by the internal discourses and rebellion against memory, which then leads to a questioning of the values of others. This is apparent with the 68-generation example, whereby the young opposed their parents, who had "silent loyalties with the Nazi period" (Assmann 203).
However, with this comes the role of maturation and aging, both physically and mentally, which results in a return to the values of past generations. In this way, they are not just acknowledging the conflicts of the past, but the larger intergenerational system that is involved. It is a kind of broadening of perspective that occurs.
So the act of forgetting serves as a means of giving people an identity and place in the world because it makes them feel distinct?
So nation-building involves a manipulation of memory in such a way that it is seen not in terms of its accuracy, but in terms of a "narrative rendering." A nation-state cannot function if, at the very least, it has a story with a "beginning, middle and end" to refer to and influence collective identity (Assmann 206).
Remembering can also be used as a means of manipulating memory because of the way it can be selective of certain events, particularly those pertaining to the "heroic," as those kinds of stories are the most empowering in regards to individuals and the global image of the nation state (Assmann 206). "When facing negative events in the past, there are only three dignified roles for the national collective to assume: that of the victor who has overcome the evil, that of the resistor who has heroically fought the evil and that of the victim who has passively suffered the evil" (Assmann 206).
This approach to memory is monologic, single-minded even, in that it favours one perspective. On the other hand, dialogic memory favours all perspectives. It seems the memories of the Holocaust made for this kind of change, as in a monologic structure, the Allied powers would likely be viewed as the heroes that defeated the villains. In a dialogic structure, there are the perspectives of the Jewish victims, the experiences of the Germans in the depression following the war, etc. So the power of remembering is in being able to reveal all perspectives involved in a past conflict or traumatic event. In this sense, it is not necessarily disillusioned by optimism, but held responsible for representing everyone equally.
Remembering is especially important in regards to colonialism.
Truth and "reconciliation" is thus ironic because it refers to the phrase "forgive and forget." Since this is tied to colonialism, forgetting is not very effective in accurately portraying the perspectives of the colonized.
So a total solar eclipse could be representative of forgetting, while remembering could be associated with a partial solar eclipse?
When physical reparations no longer become possible as a result of too much time being past since a conflict, mental reparations can be paid in the form of memory, particularly the kind that seeks to acknowledge.
"The important change is, however, that now the victims speak for themselves and claim their memories in a globalized public arena" (Assmann 208). Globalization has been especially important in reinforcing the dialogic framework within recent years.
Tabula rasa, or a clean slate.
Monologic=the hero's story Dialogic=the hero's and villain's stories, as well as the stories of the worlds and people that surround them both.
"Two countries engage in a dialogic memory if they face a shared history of mutual violence by mutually acknowledging their own guilt and empathy with the suffering they have inflicted on others" (Assmann 208).
At times, acknowledging the past may also mean one nation-state having to become accustomed to, in the case of Zachrot, another language. I think this is interesting because while remembering involves a mutual understanding, it may also warrant one side taking the first step.
I think remembering is still flawed, yes, as the nature of what is being remembered, particularly its strength and hold over our minds, can determine whether it inspires connection or division.
