I found a pair of socks I'd never posted! Top sock is the right way in, bottom is the inside. It's a simple slip-stitch pattern - knit a row; knit 3, slip 1, knit 3, slip one etc around; knit two rows. The sole is knit plain. This yarn was a gift from a friend, and it was beautiful to work with. (I'm making something else with it atm, although the colour pooling is. causing some Problems for that shall we say.)
Close-ups of the stitch pattern and the wedge heel/sole:

And here is a picture showing what the pre-emptive darning I looks like on the inside!

This isn't as thorough of a job as on the slipper socks, because I don't wear ordinary socks around the house so they see the inside of my boots and that's about it. And the inside of my boots will break them, sooner or later; I can't fight it much more than this or they'll become too thick.
...I should make before and after posts of the socks when they've just been knit versus after I've been wearing them for some time. This will also mean exposing my biggest regret, that I used a beautiful skein of unmarked sock yarn alongside a random ball of superwash merino (both charity shop) and they did Not wear the same and the socks look terrible now and I don't think I can reclaim the good stuff if I unravel them bc it wasn't superwash.
#the insides of my boots break everything#commercial cotton or bamboo socks stand up to it more but i like wool lmao#knitblr#knitting#socks#fibre crafts

#oc#haven#rex#monochrome#contents: a little raunchy for tumblr#doodle#really high effort one but it's about the shapes more than anything else lol#meme redraw#comic#i may color this. the original plan was to color it. however i spent all my energy for coloring on drawing an aftermath coda#im fond of this one. there's a lot happening in it#haven and rex are both dressed "up'' to annoy the other's plus-one minor enemy#<- specific au element#rex is wearing a weezer shirt because haven knows that'll piss off taran. haven is dressed up like rex's best attempt at a mid-00s surfer#because he knows felyx cant fucking stand haven and is also into buff masc dudes dressed in jeans with rhinestones and thinks it'll be funn#to put felyx in the Lustful Colander#(he is right)#haven's house is not actually a cool neat influencer home or whatever there's no like open floorplan white walls light bamboo floor bullshi#going on here. it's all like green and red granite tile and shit. the man has been around for a very long time he knows what kind of decor#he's fond of. those ARE fish tanks in the walls though. and a spiral staircase#the man has been around for a very long time. he does not give a shit if what he likes is 'tacky'#also when the one speechbubble he says gets weird it is because he is using a magic power and forcing rex to put his cigarette out. rex is#naturally kind of annoyed about this. it used to make haven wince when he put his cigs out on his hands so he keeps doing it every time thi#happens but he has not yet cottoned on to the fact that haven has fully stopped wincing and now just thinks it's a normal habit he has#and has no idea that it's specifically aimed in his direction#also haven has no issue with giving head but rex isn't aware of that. they don't communicate well#and what Rex is actually aware of mostly consists of 'asking him to bottom turned into a giant argument and then a physical actual fight#and he broke my jaw in like four places over it and it was awesome but i didnt get what i wanted' and kind of gave up on the subject#he couldve been getting his d!ck sucked this whole time and he didnt know it. so sad#lineart

Lichen is a natural way to create various colors for your textile and craft projects depending on the type you forage and how you process it. Beard, wolf & lungwort (usnea, letharia vulpina & lobaria pulmonaria) are great lichen to start with since they are often blown away from their host and more easily collected from the forest floor. This tutorial will show the boiling water method of making dye from each type of lichen, as well as the resulting color swatch samples (wool, silk, bamboo & cotton).

Why cant I find any perfumes that actually smell like roses (or really any other flower) other than Bulgarian rose perfume?
Like roses have a distinct softly sweet flower smell that is light, airy and even abit earthy but every "rose" or "flower" scented perfume I find just smells like sickly sweet candy 😭
#levi speaks#i just wanna smell like the flower fairs we had in elementary school#especially after it rained#its a distinct flower smell mixed with rain smell and very faint soil smell thats just 🥺#whatever that is thsts my gender#all the ones i find are eithe extremely fake smelling or straight up just smell like sugar in some way with no floral scent#like the bottle will literally be the shape of a rose flower and be claled rose but smell like fucking cotton candy#or fruit roll ups or jolly ranchers or even one just smelled like bubblegum#its always a sweet soft floral aroma and its just a strong irritating fake fruit smell#mixed with generic mature woman perfume scent you know the one#the one that smells like a mix of baby powder leather and judgement#i just want a reasonably priced perfume aimed at women that actually smells like roses and isnt expensive tiny bottles#of straight up rose oil that isnt great for the skin#one specific brand of bulgarian rose perfume in a tiny glass bottle with a red applicator has been the closest ive ever gotten#and i got that fucker 10 yrs ago for free at a tiny world fair that was held in the Cincinnati museum center at rhe Bulgaria table#i also bought a poster with some bamboo and a lotus flower and my dead name in chinese so thats cute#im buying the pack of 24 3oz rose oil perfume off amazon im tired of false advertizing#sorry this is INCREDIBLY random lol

So annoyed with my sheets rn.
Brand new (bought in August), several inches long, and it's just one spot! It's not Simon, it's not my feet (where the spot is--toe nails are trimmed and I take care of the skin on my feet) SO LIKE, 🤷🏻♀️ THE FUCK?
I can try and sew them together? but the fabric all around them is thinning as well, so I'd have to patch it or something at least 5 inches in each direction and idk if I'm skilled enough for that

@mayakern OK so I have a PLAN to write a nice and helpful review of your skirts, but I honestly have no idea if I'll actually be able to follow through anytime soon or if it'll just languish in my head for the rest of time, so this is a PLACEHOLDER nice and helpful review that just says HER SKIRTS ARE V. NICE, IF PLUS SIZE AND ON FENCE HIGHLY RECOMMEND DO BUY
#this is in fact me tricking myself into writing a helpful review#by putting the stuff in the tags#these skirts are a+++#i'd been looking at the sunflowers skirt longingly for months#and then it was on sale and i was everything is terrible i want cheerful sunflowers#and i got it#wore it#and immediately ran into the problem of wanting to wear it every day#(side note i now have purchased three additional skirts)#for the texture-sensitive people such as myself! important info:#material feels like bamboo cotton like you can get in sheets#so if you don't know what that feels like and if it's an ok texture you can go to a store that sells bed linens and find a sample#n.b. it's not exactly the same probably but it feels close enough for me#and i am . notoriously picky about textures#the skirts are full enough that even though the material is soft and light#it hangs heavily enough to not show off anything you're wearing underneath#and disguises that you've got stuff in your pockets#even if your pockets are FULL#(and these are BIG POCKETS)#the sizes overlap - I got the larger size of the ones i fit into#and i like the fit but did find that my pockets will start pulling them down a bit#which is less of a problem if both pockets are full#and more of a problem if it's just one pocket#so i have now ordered the size down as well#anyways yes highly recommend#yes expensive but also! not actually THAT expensive!#because this stuff is quality??#like i buy shit from torrid which is somewhat cheaper#but also will start falling apart within six months if not sooner#and i can tell that when it arrives because of the stitching etc

Dyer's polypore (phaeolus schweinitzii) is a wonderful mushroom used to create various natural colors for your textile and craft projects. Known as a fantastic 'starter' dye mushroom, it brings a range of deep yellows and toasty browns on protein fibers like wool & silk. By adding iron, you can invite greens and darker shades to expand your natural dye palette. If you are a fungi fanatic with a love of foraging, the dyer's polypore is ready to be picked! This tutorial will show you a stove top method of making dye from this mushroom, as well as the resulting color swatch samples (wool, cotton, bamboo & silk) with alum and ferrous sulfate mordants.
