We need to start calling them like "corpotubers" instead of the general "vtuber" label because they really are different types of entertainment/entities and I think discussions about vtubing get confused when people don't know which they're talking about.

I feel like a lot of mid-large size corpotubers have gotten really complacent and feel like they can't fail, or that there won't be repercussions for their actions. Given how their respective fandoms act that's probably true, but I wish it wasn't

Daily reminder that physical media is so fucking sexy and hot and enticing and they can't take it away from you. They can't put ads on CDs and they make infinitely more money from ads than artists will via you purchasing a CD.

While you still can (since I assume the new cunt at YouTube wants to ban all fun), download your fave music, there are sites that let you download playlists up to like 25 videos at a time into MP3 or wav formats. Save them to your phone, get a little cheapo MP3 player.

The age of physical media is not over. Support your fave artists. Buy their music. Support them and not CorpoTube.

got fully locked out of youtube for Using Adblocker crimes today (got a pop-up saying I'd be locked out after 3 videos and then the video player locked down) and after some experimentation discovered that switching to my old YouTube profile that wasn't created via a Google account has bypassed it.

Me: Now that Mogughost is back into the indie scene, nothing will get in the way of her finally playing alongside her oshis.

Mint finally reveals her lore. I find it really on-brand that she became a ghost after losing her (fictional) oshi to graduation.

What we thought would be her lore (or, the first half before she pulls the rug under and reveals her true lore) does sound like an allegory of her former company: the prince being the CEO, the princess being the investors, and the maid who would be scorned after the princess found out about the prince's affair? Her while she was in the company. The curse the dying maid utters? Well, if you know, you know.

I like Nimi's design in theory but something about her chibi model unnerves me. Hopefully her more detailed model will look better.

Hang on. Now it makes sense. Lemonleaf rebranding to Nimi Nightmare because she doesn't want the Saplings to "carry over" so to speak. She's leaving them at Hololive and will probably give her saplings a new name

Its because Vtubers with a label are japanese oshii idols in disguise

among many things but yeah favoritism/obsession/idolism is a real core part of the corpotuber experience, very well the number one thing that puts me off of all corpotubers in general. and i haaaate when that leaks over into the independent space, how frequently indie vtubers try so hard to replicate and mimic that style of entertainment/interaction (which is usually futile anyway because they dont have the production behind them to just Be Popular right from the get-go).
