#cont'd from the tags of the post under this lol #mostly I just wanted an excuse to post this #it's a great song even though at times she doesn't get it quite right sometimes (i.e. the exact same way my grandma sings it lol)#it's about a lady who waited for her lover by the seaside until one day she 'became a mermaid*' in her despair #(*pretty much implied to be a thinly-veiled euphemism for drowning by the sea)#idk it just really captured my imagination as a kid
