Getting out comfortable cushions and nice soothing candles and we all sit in a peaceful circle of friendship while I explain at length that just because nobody in the story has a modern concept of consent, and they all rely on "rights" to sexual ownership and an absence of (extremely subjectively defined) "excessive" cruelty instead, doesn't mean that GRRM isn't writing with a modern day understanding of consent in mind, as well as the traumatic effects of rape even when the characters can't name it as such, and this is an incredibly valuable thing to write about because the approach presented in the books is sadly still all too common in real life

Perhaps shouldn’t discuss before I finish the book BUT I am near the end of Dark Horses, which is about father/daughter incest.

Gonna use a read more here because I know 99% of my followers are into Geppetto/Carlo(/p) and I think the Vibes are immense in this book, if it interests you.

The moment where the rapist father realizes what’s happening (the daughter spooks the horse to get it to kick out at him) is one of the most satisfying moments in fiction that I have read/watched/played/whatever in months

Especially with the immediate hellish escalation right before this scene. Just amazing. Love that horse. Good for that horse. This horse deserves an award

i wish people stopped with rape-apologist portrayals in media!

yesterday I saw something that had:

it’s ok to rape someone if you’re hot!

it’s ok to rape someone if they “grow to like it”/they will like it if you make them

it’s ok to rape someone if you are later nice to them

it’s ok to rape someone if you also have consensual sex sometimes

it’s ok to rape men/men are unrapeable

it’s ok to rape someone if you’re a woman (I also often see this as “women can’t be rapists” which is sadly untrue)

it’s ok to rape someone if their reason for not wanting sex with you is something you don’t care about (like not wanting to cheat/wanting to be monogamous)

it’s ok to rape someone if you are sexually frustrated

it’s ok to rape someone even if the consequence of it could be that that person gets executed (??? wtf)

and, even weirder, it seemed to suggest that rape lead to passion lead to love lead to freedom from ideological dogma???? i mean wtf. that was so weird.

please don’t do stuff like the above... don’t portray rape as ever ok or consent as ever being optional.

i feel so sick of this kind of stuff :S

theres not a lot i want to put out atm, but i can give you a little bit about me that might be of importance to you if youre going to follow me, or if youre planning on being friends with me.

my name is not really amberlyn but until i am comfortable to put out my real name, thats what youll call me. im seventeen years old. im a sophomore in high school. im an artist. my art is just not the best. i like to write a lot. most of my stories are either real or fictional. but for the most part i will be posting real stories here, since my fictional stories are written mostly in notebooks. im not in regular school. im homeschooled now. and i do mean “now”. its been a year since ive been in school. up until two months ago, i was homeless for a year. on what circumstances i will not dicuss. i now live with a very lovely gay couple. i am healthier, and cleaner. so anything between the time i became homeless to now is unnecessary. other than one instance i will discuss only to people who i know well enough ad will believe me. i have never told a lie in my life. i never lie. and when i say im honest, im very serious. 

i like music, obviously, mostly melanie martinez, nicole dollanganger, three days grace, my chemical romance, and slipknot. (yes ive heard about what hapened with melanie, i can share an experience later on why i truly believe she is innocent, and why i choose to believe she is. but im only telling that to the ones who truly need to know, and who i truly feel is allowed to know. and no, the story is not some story like “tiMotHY raPEd mE111!!!1″ no, its a truly deeper story, nothing made up.) // if youre going to try to attack me just because i believe melanie is innocent, please just dont even bother wasting the energy because nothing you cn say or do will change my mind, and your wrds will not effect me even if you think it will. so please just spare whatever energy you try to put into me, and just block me, if you can even do that on tumblr.)  when im not working on my online classes, im watching shane dawson videos. 

i am an eclectic witch. im very new to the witchery community. i only discovered i was a witch a week ago. so im still taking baby steps. im, i guess, in a way, vegan. just not really, because im working towards becoming a full on vegan.
