Quietly, I close the wooden door behind me, praying to god, any god, that that disgusting monster wouldn't hear me leave. Now entering the humid hall, I felt the warm air encase my body- a little too hot, but better than that frigid room. I finally look down the hallway after taking a deep breath. It seemed like the left side of the hall was blocked by barbwire and sparatic iron spikes while the right side was clear except for a metal gate that was latched shut. Cautiously, I make my way to the gate whilst glancing around when I think I hear a creak in the floor. Placing my hands on the metal bars, I gently pull.
Locked. Lifting my hands away, I bring one to my pocket and fish out a bobby pin. After looking at the pin in my hand for a few seconds, I raise my eyes back up. Letting out a small gasp, I take a step back. A man stood on the other side of the gate. He looked.. rather unsettling. A pyramid mask weighed his head down, causing him to lean. He wore a white apron stained in blood, some spots as dry as the desert while others were fresh like cold water after a run. He smelled of lavender and wood though, of course with a whiff of blood every once and a while. It confused me a little.
He smelled so calming, but he looked so deadly. Slowly, I reach a hand up and carefully slide my hand through the bars. My hand began to shake as I lightly placed my finger tips to his mask. I felt the small, smooth grooves and dirt against the pads of my fingers. Slipping my hand away, I move to bring it back to my side. One of his gloved hands dart to my own and harshly pull it back into his side, my whole forearm now stuck between the bars. A cry dies in my throat as I make contact with gate, my free hand grasping a metal bar for support.
His grip was firm and only hurt due to how far he pulled my arm in. I watch as he brings his other hand up to the bars, his sent engulfing me. He slips his hand through the bars just as I did and gently reached to cup my cheek, his breaths hitting the insides of his mask. It felt as if I was a deer, watching his every move in case he tried to hurt me. A door behind me slammed open. The sound reverberated in my ears. Pulling myself away from the strange man, I dart to the closest room beside me to hide. I was surprised he let me go, but he could've been paying attention to that damned monster.
Closing the door with a small click, I quickly turn to the things within the room. There's a bed and a closet, but I couldn't hide there. That's where it'd check first. Moving to the window, I notice there's a ledge I could walk on to a new area of this hellish house. I open the window as quietly as I can, hoping that it wasn't too loud. Pulling it midway, I slowly slip through the opening. I gripped onto the windowsill as I placed my feet on to the wet ledge. It was raining. How could I have missed that? Gulping, I stand and grip the window before pushing it down. Taking a step forward, I almost slip from the loud sound of the room's door slamming open. There was a squishing sound but I payed no mind and moved.
I need to keep going. Making it to the next window, I peer in to see of it's safe. Placing my hands on the window, I pull it up. Suddenly though, the window is slammed up and I'm dragged in, causing me to yelp. My back was forced against someone's abdominal and their arms held my torso hostage. Placing my hands on theirs, I wiggle in their grasp. Looking at the hands below mine, I recognize the dirty gloves. That pyramid guy from across the gate. Was he one of those things too? Struggling a little harder, I slip my hands and arms between his and separate his arms from my body, allowing me to slide out of his hold.
I could feel my anxiety begin to boil over. This place was just too much. All these creatures chasing me until they can kill me. I don't even have anything to protect myself with. I ignore the feeling of water slipping down my cheeks and my blurry eyesight as I push myself into a corner. Being drenched in rain water, I started to shiver. Once again, I was pulled up, but this time I was being held up and was encased in his arms and the movements were gentle. I could feel the blood seep from his clothes to my own. The room rumbled as he plopped down on the rug in front of a fireplace. A lit fireplace. I couldn't hear the monster from before. Was it gone? Maybe he.. got rid of it?
"Did...did you.. get rid of it?" My voice was shaky and cracked between words. A grunt echoed in his mask whilst he shifted his hold, moving me so my legs wrapped around him instead of my legs being swept to the side. I curl into myself as I shake, a small cough leaving me. He makes a sound and squeezes me closer to him before sliding me off of him. Watching him, he moves to the bed and grabs a nightgown and a blanket. Coming back to me, he places them in my lap before pointing to a folding screen in the corner near the dresser. "...change?" He nodded his head in response before turning back to the other furniture in the room.
Placing a hand on the ground, I push myself up and grab the garment, leaving the blanket where it is on the floor. I'll grab it after I change. Moving behind the screen, I slowly strip from my wet clothes while shivering. Pulling the gown over my head, I slip it on to my body. It fit quite nicely, which was a surprise. Smoothing out the fabric, I walk out from behind the wall and hold my arms around myself. The air nipped at my skin and I goosebumps made their homes on my arms and legs.
The guy made a deep squealing sound and hurried over with a towel in hand, picking up the blanket on the way with his other. He pulled me to him, lifting me to his lap again. He wrapped the blanket around my shoulders before taking my wet hair away from skin. He pushed my face to his shoulder as he combed through my hair with his fingers and dabbed at the water in my hair. I felt tired. My body was slouching against his and his fingers in my hair and against my scalp was relaxing to me. Slowly, he turned the dabbing of the towel into a sort of petting. A quiet sigh left me as my eyes just about slid shut.
He let out a quiet groan as he shifted, standing with me in his arms. Letting out a gasp, I tightly wrap my legs and arms around him. He made another sound as he walked to the bed on the other side of the room. Leaning over the bed, he lays me down, bringing a hand to unlock my limbs from him. He slides his hand from my thigh to my knee before pulling my leg from his waist and glides his hand down my arm as he slips it from his shoulder. After putting me down, he pulls away completely and moves to the fireplace, adjusting the coals and whatever wood is left.
He sits down on the couch, giving me a glance before dragging a knife from beside the furniture and staring at the door. Wrapping the blankets around me, I turn over and curl my legs up. Pushing my lips into a thin line, I let out a sigh. Letting my eyes seal shut, I think of the man behind me. He helped me, took care of me, and seemingly cares for me. But why? He.. seems like the other monsters, just a little more.. human. Sentient. He's aggressive though and... probably killed the thing chasing me. That's a good thing though, isn't it?
