Timor vincit omnia with Clara
Narcissa smoothed her dress before rapping her slightly shaking hand on the front door of the Macmillon’s flat. She had only been once before, but she forgave herself the intrusion in favor of the company she desperately needed. As sad as she felt to think it, she had very few close friends, and Narcissa found herself knowing only Clara to be free at this time.
She had gone home after they had separated, and had emptied her stomach first into the kitchen sink and then in the bathroom. She showered to calm herself down, but could not find any comfort in her empty house. Lucius would not be home for hours, she was certain, and she could not even have a drink to ease her fears, as she had been pregnant for a month now.
So, she awaited her ‘friend’, if Clara could even be dubbed as such, and wrung her hands, visibly nervous.

Rabastan didn’t let himself chart through the tide of emotions often, but every once and a while he found himself falling back into old habits. There were times when he acted completely out of muscle memory. There would be no rhyme or reason, just a reflex to somehow rekindle everything that he lost. But the man wasn’t foolish and the deeper he journeyed into his own head, the more he realized just how irrational he was being. A momentary lapse of judgment and rationality is what brought him here to begin with and he couldn’t help but reflect back on those groundbreaking events that eventually caused his relationship to implode as he stood in front of his ex-fiancee’s arithmancy shop.
Rabastan had lingered outside Clara’s store on more than one occasion since their untimely run-in a few weeks back, but never once worked up enough nerve to go inside and face her. Admittedly he felt a bit childish standing there for so long, unable to make up his mind. He claimed there was hardly anything he feared, but here he was fearing the sheer disappointment of a woman who abandoned him. He always felt like she could see through his mask--recognizing him for the person he was beneath all the carefully orchestrated layers. When the truth finally boiled to the surface and Clara ended their relationship, Rabastan only grew more into the mask.
The wizard inhaled a rugged breath as if it would be his last before slowly swinging the door open and stepping inside. Even though he had admired her storefront numerous times in the past two weeks, it seemed entirely different as he stepped across the threshold for the first time. Immediately Rabastan found himself captivated with a little trinket near the front of the store, but replaced it back on the shelf before meandering further inside. He couldn’t let himself avoid this any longer. “ Clara? Hello? ” He called out to her, quickly clearing his throat in a poor attempt to smooth over his shaky nerves.
