misc spiderverse thought: as much as i love pavitr prabhakar, the mumbattan sequence, and his whole dynamic with gwen and hobie, that character specifically being pav and that world being earth 50101 is actually totally irrelevant.

like, contrast him with hobie, whose status as the punk spider man directly ties into the themes of the story and justifies his reasonings for giving miles a fair warning and giving gwen the portal watch she'll need to escape the society. if you swap hobie out with someone else, the plot points he participates in don't work.

(... and technically gwen too; a case can be made for peter b being the one to sneak to 1610 because he misses his old student working better than gwen risking it all for a boy she spent one afternoon with a year and a half ago, but being totally at the mercy of the society is far more appropriate for her than him.)

which is all to say part of me wishes it had been like, anya corazon, instead, simply because giving gwen one female friend would've helped alleviate so much of the bad vibe around her being turned into a guys' girl right as she's girlfriendified.
