law’s foot bounced impatiently as he sat on the cushioned bench in the dressing room. he knew this shopping trip would take forever, given that he was with bepo of all people. it’d been three hours and bepo hadn’t even chosen a pair of shoes. if he stayed for an hour longer, he’d rip his hair out.
soon enough, bepo emerged from the dressing room wearing (cheap and gaudy, in law’s opinion) clothes. the bottom of the shirt was cut into fringe with tiny beads dangling from the stray cloth while the hem of the shorts was trimmed with fur (too similar to a pair worn by that straw hat) and far too many belts.
“what do you think?” bepo asked chipperly, performing a little twirl for law. his stubby tail wiggled in the cut-out hole as he showed off his garish outfit. a storm of words danced within law’s mouth, his clenched teeth acting as the only barrier to prevent any particularly foul words from slipping out.
law straightened his back, preparing to release his carefully articulated opinion.
“it’s loud.”
it was a blunt answer, but law wasn’t one to mince his words. he’d rather be honest than dance around the truth, and he knew his first mate would prefer his honest thoughts. well, maybe not exactly. bepo could be…emotionally bruised, and rather easily at that. and it was quite apparent on bepo’s face as he looked sadly at his tacky outfit.
“you think?” bepo asked dejectedly, fiddling with the fringed hem of his shirt.
standing swiftly, law marched over to one of the clothing racks, spotting a baby pink top with a struck-through heart in the middle— shockingly, one close to bepo’s size. this was one of the many struggles of shopping for a polar bear, as most of his clothes had to be handmade by shachi due to a lack of fitted product. it was a tad short, as were most shirts that bepo wore, but it functioned as a crop top rather than a bib, thankfully.
“something like this,” law spoke, holding up the hanger, “i think would be…more suited to you.”
bepo remained quiet, gingerly taking law’s offer and holding it up to his chest. he stepped into the dressing room, exiting after just a moment dressed in the pink top. it hugged him closely, revealing a tiny sliver of the fuzzy pouch of his stomach, clearly separated by the hem of the shirt.
if law had a mirror, he’d be able to see the exact shade his face was turning. rising, slowly, from a pastel, to bubblegum, all the way up to a rouge. it was, however, quite apparent to bepo, who tucked his hands behind his back shyly.
“you like it, captain?” he questioned, a similar pink creeping up onto his face.
"y-yes,” he sputtered, quickly covering his face with his hand, “you look, ah, nice.”
this— he— bepo, was too cute. law wasn’t sure he’d be able to hold it together for long, the tell-tale tightness in his nose signaling an oncoming nosebleed couldn’t be ignored for long. his first mate remained oblivious to law’s predicament, instead focusing on his compliment, excitedly looking down at his candy pink shirt.
“i'm going to look for some shorts to match. thank you, captain!” bepo hurriedly bowed his head, running off into the pants section of the store. as bepo exited, law quickly wiped up the mess his nose created before it became a real problem, not wanting to cause a scene in front of his first mate. he continued to sit alone on the bench, glancing around the store for anything that caught his attention.
as he searched about, his eyes landed on a sunglasses stand, spotting a gold and pink pair. it was incredibly ostentatious, perhaps more so than the first outfit bepo tried on. and yet, it kept screaming his name, begging to be bought. it would look rather good with the shirt he found for bepo, wouldn’t it? before he knew it, his legs carried him over to the stand. ah, the price! they were cheaper than he thought, an easily justifiable purchase in the grand scheme of things.
all of a sudden, law was in front of the checkout, passing some beri over to the store owner and holding the sunglasses in his hands. did he really just buy them? without asking bepo? what if he didn’t like them? thousands of thoughts raced through law’s head as his stomach began to ache with stress.
“captain?” a voice echoed from behind him. law spun around, seeing bepo standing behind him delicately, a pair of tangerine shorts held between his paws.
law threw the sunglasses behind his back and into his pockets, visible sweat dripping down his forehead. “yes! are you ready to go? i’m ready to go,” he stammered out, clenching his muscles to stop his shaking body.
bepo looked at his captain curiously, gently linking a claw with one of law’s clammy fingers. he bounced over to the checkout and let law shakily pay for his clothing, gleefully taking the large bag on his shoulder. still joining pinkies, bepo exited the building alongside his captain.
silence lingered around the two, and it was becoming hard for bepo to ignore law’s fidgeting. he could see law’s fluttering open-and-shut silently, as if reciting something to himself. he wasn’t making eye contact either, hands stuffed deep into his skinny jeans and staring deeply at his shoes (which was incredibly strange, as the only shoes law ever stared at were the pair bepo gifted to him on his birthday, and law only wore those on special events.)
suddenly law stopped, pulling bepo back and into place beside him. he quickly rummaged through his pockets, continuing to look down at his feet as he pulled out the gift he purchased minutes ago.
“i got you this,” law muttered, passing the sunglasses over to bepo, “if you don’t like them, i can run back and return them.”
bepo held the glasses, carefully looking them over.
“for me?” bepo whispered, eyes twinkling with amazement. he fiddled with them, taking in the tiny details littered on the frames, the pink perfectly matching with his shirt. it was the statement piece he really needed to make this outfit pop. not only that, but the built-up tension in his furry body slowly dissipated, knowing that law’s distress was merely nervousness.
“thank you, captain…” bepo said, a soft smile rising across his face. he adjusted his paw to fully engulf law’s hand, gently squeezing it.
law scrunched his nose, keeping his head downturned as a dark blush spread along his cheeks. gratitude wasn’t his forte, neither giving nor receiving. but coming from bepo— his first dear friend, beloved first mate, and partner for life— it caused the strings of his heart to be strummed to a deafening beat.
“don’t mention it,” he mumbled, returning a squeeze to bepo’s hand, “got anything else you wanted to do today? or are we heading off to that concert?”
the sparkle in bepo’s eyes grew brighter as he smiled ear-to-ear. he nodded excitedly, beginning to bounce a little with each head shake.
with one final sigh, law walked back to the polar tang with bepo, a similar grin growing on his face with each step closer to the submarine.
upon reaching the ship, bepo rushed to his room, stashing away his new clothing for safekeeping until the concert. law headed to the command room to speak with hakugan about the next destination for the ship, pointing to various stops across the map on the wall. once the course was established, law breathed out a tired sigh, falling back onto a nearby couch.
bepo entered the room shortly after, seeing his worn out captain lounging. slowly he crept over, taking a seat next to his partner. immediately, law shifted his position, turning to use bepo as his personal beanbag. the softness of bepo’s fur and tummy brought law bliss as his eyes became increasingly heavy, groggily giving a final order.
“alright, to elegia we go…”

Here’s how sunglasses are often polarized:
Tumblr media
Or maybe it’s horizontal. IDK. Anyway, the point is, this isn’t good. It stands a good chance of blocking out the visibility of your phone/laptop/whatever. Sometimes a coffee shop or the like will have a menu on a big monitor (or series of big monitors), and you won’t be able to see it if your sunglasses are polarized orthogonally to the monitor. Sure, you can take your sunglasses off, or tilt your head, but it’s still a flaw.
There are various workarounds, but I think a simple approach that would would be to change the polarization to this:
Tumblr media
Now the polarizations are orthogonal, so no angle will totally block both eyes completely (although it might be a little weird only being able to see a screen with one eye).
I see no reason that this would increase manufacturing costs at all, other than switching costs if you’re going from one approach to the other.
Plus if sunglasses manufacturers standardized enough on a single common orthogonal angle set, then we could use them as 3D glasses if we wanted!
Do good / new sunglasses already do this, and it’s just the cheap, somewhat old ones I have that don’t? (Some SolarShield wrap-around sunglasses that can fit over glasses.) Are there disadvantages to this that I’m not anticipating?

23. Describe the physical environment in which you write. Be as detailed as possible. Tell me what’s around you as you work. Paint me a picture.
Version 1.
In between patrons. The building is more window than wall, all concrete and five stories of south-facing glass. This is all hell on me, a fucker with light and heat sensitivity. The building has won accolades for its Green design and energy efficiency, which means that the HVAC is half-assed at best and always several hours behind the actual current temperature outside, leaving us with eighty-three thousand square feet of microclimates. Summer is my detested. Even so, on a clear day, the view south across the river, to the hills beyond, is breathtaking. When they built the place they didn’t think about all the expanding and contracting the floor panels were going to be doing with temperature changes, and failed to outfit the literal millions of bolts with rubber gaskets. Over a decade later, the floors, hollow to accommodate plumbing and cables, pop, thunk, creak, and squeal with the weight of passerby. Every desk has its quirks, but thankfully most of them have a Taller station; this is important, as I now need to be able to switch between sitting and standing, sometimes several times an hour, so I always place myself where I can more easily manage that. I end up having to turn the vast majority of the computer monitors to portrait position thanks to the polarization of my prescription sunglasses. I open chrome in incognito mode, use a privacy screen, and zoom docs out to 75 or 80 percent, depending on the floor I’m on. Often I do little more than reread, but depending on the day, I might peck away at my WIPs. Passerby inevitably comment on the fact that I wear a mask, brimmed hat, and sunglasses every day this time of year or on my metal water bottle, which holds A Gallon. I like it because I don’t have to tally how many times I refill it, but also because it could kill a man.
Version 2.
Home, nestled in the comfiest chair in the house I grew up in, a brown armchair with detached ottoman. The fabric has a shallow nap like velvet: smoother one way than the other. I have my lumbar pillow tucked into the small of my back and my feet up, a cheap lap desk balanced on my thighs and my guttering fifteen-inch laptop atop it, its fans blazing away, and it perpetually plugged in as though it’s on life support. To my left is a little side table beneath a wall lamp, which I prefer to have off unless it’s full dark, with a drink - tea, coffee, beer, or whiskey on the rocks are all likely candidates. With my back to the southeast corner of the house, I’m inevitably facing the piano I learned to play on and, above it, the sloped, vaulted ceiling that reaches its apex over the stairs. The dining room table, further to my right, is cluttered with projects and things my wife and I have yet to put away, lacking the energy, space, or both to do so, living in a household of four adults and two dogs. Mom’s Corgi, named in honor of a footballer (whose name we nevertheless technically mispronounce, Gods forgive us), barks at everything and nothing, her semi-howling hitting a high enough decibel to cut through my sound-canceling headphones, which play nature sounds that fit what I’m writing—Ishgardian fics almost always get a combination of wind and the snap of a wood fire, for example. “Xabi!” I borderline yell in a desperate bid to get her attention, “Leave it!” Or, if I’m really at the end of my chain, the idle but deeply cathartic threat, “I’m going to put you on the roof!” (My wife coined that one.) Sometimes her little brother, the chihuahua daschund mix Bear, succumbs to his perpetual FOMO and joins in, his higher-pitched, piercing barks enough to rattle my teeth in my skull. I take my headphones off - they’re not doing their job anyway - and go to the tall, narrow window flanking the door to physically shoo them away from it, saying “There’s nothing out there! You know what that means!” I extend my arms, hands open, toward Xabi in a this time very real threat to pick her up, repeating “You know what that means!” as I advance toward her and she scrambles to run away, her claws skittering over hardwood floors and tile. She knows that if I catch her, I’ll hold her in my arms like an infant, belly-up, and (gently!) bounce her, chanting “Act like a baby, get treated like a baby!!” which is a time-honored tradition from a past household. Inevitably she gives me her Most Disapproving Side-eye, possibly even licking my cheek or my nose in a desperate bid to win her freedom - this from a dog who we sometimes have to literally beg to get affection from (I am not above admitting that I have, in fact, fake cried to get her pity). Once I put her down, she may go straight back to barking. Or she may only huff and chuff, more air than sound, and earn praises of “Good girl, that’s a good quiet, thank you.” When she at last settles and I sit back down, Bear jumps up on the ottoman and stares at me until I let him curl up between my knees under my lap desk (and he’ll whine at me, with increasing levels of pitifulness, until I comply - he’s even pawed at my laptop screen). Now that it’s quieter, I can tell what my parents are watching one room over - almost always soccer, though sometimes some tv show or other - and I put my headphones back on, drowning it out.
Thank you so much for the ask! Game here~

Maybe I'm easily amused. But, I am now better prepared for another freaking infusion of endoscopy's special Migraine Potion in the morning!
(Another unfortunate effect of not actually having prescription glasses I can reasonably wear right now: the clip-on shades are sorta useless! 😑)
There is also another dilated eye exam coming up in a couple of weeks, so yeah. I'm already extra photosensitive after the laser treatments and lens replacement, which can be fun when you're already prone to migraines set off by light. (And seizure activity, but thankfully that hasn't been a problem in years. *fingers crossed*)
I am strongly considering trying some kind of rose-tinted lenses for regular wear, whenever I do find out the best option to get my vision corrected again. But, better in general to just go ahead and pick up some cheap interim nonprescription sunglasses!
These particular roughly $30 Oakley knockoffs were also supposed to come with plain grey polarized lenses to swap in. Which is what I was intending to use for this. But, open up the case and it actually contains a second mirrored set. 🙄 Of course, I only saw that once he had them home from the store this evening, and it was already too late to run back and swap them. They are going back, but not tonight.
So yeah, I guess it's the full-on rainbow Human Fly look tomorrow. 🪰 Infinitely better than no eye protection after I get out.
Not exactly my style to begin with, but wraparound sports shades did seem like a very practical choice if your goal is blocking glare. And they turned out to be surprisingly comfy, no more than they've been on my face so far.

Polarized Vision || Unconventional Senses and Sensory Attributes
❯ ❯ Polarized Vision
Interestingly, animals with polarized vision can control the amount of light entering their eyes (or, attenuate the orientation at which light waves oscillate). Many animal species have developed superior navigational skills by basing their efforts on the sun's various positions. In other words, navigating the sky using time-dependent light patterns. Some animals use polarized vision (or polarized-light sensitivity) for "contrast enhancement, camouflage breaking, object recognition, and signal detection and discrimination," according to a research article published in Integrative and Comparative Biology.
When perceiving scattered or refracted light, environmental factors, atmospheric factors, perturbations in the medium (e.g., waves in water), medium quality, and pollution all affect an already highly sensitive manner of pattern discernment.
Human-world applications abound, from fancy sunglasses that enable one to increase visual clarity in high-glare environments to increasing the precision of advanced military technology. In one fantastic example, engineers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studied the mantis shrimp in extraordinary detail and developed a camera (i.e., a one-inch cube) that mimics the shrimp's use of polarized light as well as the shrimp's capacity to manipulate its detection of light intensity. According to Scientific American, the camera's dynamic emulation of these natural abilities could help cars detect hazards in ambiguous conditions, enable military drones to identify camouflaged or shadowed targets, and help surgeons perform more accurately. It's difficult to state how powerful this new technology is: The engineers' cube camera's light-detection ability was 10,000-times higher than today's commercial cameras (and yes, the tech is already available for cheap, mass production...).

Can I Wear Cheap Sunglasses for Driving?
Tumblr media
When it comes to driving, safety is paramount. While we often think about seat belts, airbags, and anti-lock brakes as crucial for our protection on the road, another key factor that can influence driving safety is eyewear. Sunglasses are not just a fashion accessory; they play an important role in protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays and reducing glare, especially when you're behind the wheel. But what about cheap sunglasses? Can they be worn for driving, or do they compromise safety? This blog explores whether budget-friendly sunglasses are suitable for driving and what you should look out for when choosing them.
1. The Importance of Sunglasses While Driving
Sunglasses are essential for driving, particularly during bright daylight conditions. Here’s why they matter:
Reduce Glare: Glare from the sun, especially when it reflects off surfaces like the road, water, or other vehicles, can temporarily blind you, making it difficult to see. Sunglasses with polarized lenses can help reduce this glare, providing a clearer view and enhancing driving safety.
Protect from UV Rays: Prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause damage to your eyes, leading to conditions such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Sunglasses that offer 100% UV protection shield your eyes from these harmful rays, reducing the risk of long-term damage.
Improve Visual Comfort: Sunglasses reduce eye strain by minimizing the amount of light that enters your eyes, making driving more comfortable and reducing fatigue, especially during long drives.
Enhance Contrast: Certain sunglasses enhance contrast, making it easier to see objects on the road, such as traffic signs, pedestrians, or other vehicles. This can be particularly useful during low-light conditions like dawn or dusk.
2. Are Cheap Sunglasses Safe for Driving?
The price of sunglasses doesn't necessarily determine their effectiveness. However, when it comes to driving, there are certain features that sunglasses must have to ensure they’re safe. Here’s a breakdown of what to consider when evaluating cheap sunglasses for driving:
UV Protection: The most critical feature of any pair of sunglasses, regardless of price, is UV protection. Cheap sunglasses that lack proper UV protection can actually do more harm than good. Tinted lenses without UV protection can cause your pupils to dilate, allowing more UV light to enter your eyes, potentially leading to damage. Always check for a label that indicates 100% UVA and UVB protection.
Lens Quality: The clarity and quality of the lenses are important for safe driving. Cheap sunglasses may have lenses that are poorly made, leading to visual distortions that can affect your ability to judge distances or see clearly. This is particularly dangerous when driving at high speeds or in busy traffic.
Polarization: Polarized lenses are highly recommended for driving as they reduce glare from reflective surfaces like water, the road, or the hood of your car. While some cheap sunglasses may offer polarized lenses, it's important to ensure they are of good quality. Poorly made polarized lenses can distort your vision and reduce your ability to see clearly.
Tint Color: The color of the lens tint can also impact driving safety. Gray or green tints are generally best for driving as they reduce glare and don’t distort colors. Avoid sunglasses with tints that are too dark, as they can reduce visibility, especially in low-light conditions. Yellow or amber tints can be helpful in hazy or foggy conditions, but may not be suitable for bright sunlight.
Fit and Comfort: Sunglasses that don’t fit well or are uncomfortable can be distracting while driving. Make sure the sunglasses sit comfortably on your nose and ears without slipping. Poorly fitting sunglasses can also let in light from the sides, reducing their effectiveness.
Durability: Cheap sunglasses may be made from lower-quality materials, which can affect their durability. Sunglasses that easily scratch or break won’t provide consistent protection, and a broken pair of sunglasses while driving can be a hazard.
3. The Risks of Wearing Cheap Sunglasses While Driving
Wearing cheap sunglasses that lack proper features can pose several risks when you’re on the road:
Reduced Visibility: Sunglasses with poor lens quality can blur your vision or create optical distortions, making it harder to see the road clearly. This can be particularly dangerous when you need to make quick decisions.
Inadequate UV Protection: As mentioned earlier, sunglasses without adequate UV protection can increase your exposure to harmful rays, leading to long-term eye damage. Over time, this can impact your vision and overall eye health.
Increased Glare: Sunglasses that aren’t polarized or have lenses that are too light can fail to reduce glare effectively, leading to momentary blindness and increased risk of accidents.
Discomfort and Distraction: Uncomfortable sunglasses can be a constant distraction, taking your attention away from the road. If they don’t fit well, you may find yourself adjusting them constantly, which can be dangerous while driving.
4. Tips for Choosing the Right Sunglasses for Driving
To ensure you’re choosing the right sunglasses for driving, here are some tips to keep in mind:
Look for UV Protection: Always choose sunglasses that offer 100% UVA and UVB protection. This should be clearly marked on the label.
Opt for Polarized Lenses: Polarized lenses are ideal for driving as they reduce glare from reflective surfaces. Ensure the lenses are high quality to avoid any visual distortions.
Choose the Right Tint: Gray or green lenses are best for driving as they provide true color perception and reduce glare. Avoid lenses that are too dark or have unconventional tints like blue or pink.
Ensure a Good Fit: Your sunglasses should fit comfortably without slipping. Consider wrap-around styles that provide additional protection by blocking light from the sides.
Check for Quality: Even if you’re buying budget-friendly sunglasses, inspect them for good build quality. The lenses should be free from scratches or imperfections, and the frame should be sturdy.
Consider Anti-Reflective Coating: Some sunglasses come with an anti-reflective coating on the lenses, which can further reduce glare and improve visibility.
5. Conclusion: Are Cheap Sunglasses for Driving a Good Idea?
The bottom line is that not all cheap sunglasses are bad, but you need to be careful when choosing them for driving. The most important factors are UV protection, lens quality, and polarization. If you can find a pair of sunglasses that meet these criteria at a lower price point, they can be perfectly safe and effective for driving. However, if the sunglasses lack proper UV protection, have poor lens quality, or don’t fit well, they could potentially do more harm than good.
When it comes to driving, your safety is worth the investment. If you’re on a budget, look for affordable brands that prioritize UV protection and lens quality. Remember, the right pair of sunglasses can enhance your driving experience by protecting your eyes and improving your visibility, while the wrong pair can put you at risk.
So, yes, you can wear cheap sunglasses for driving—just make sure they’re up to the task.

What color lenses are better for men's sunglasses?
Sunglasses are not only decorations but also good eye protection tools. Men often go out in the wind and sun, and they need to choose a pair of sunglasses that suits them. So what color lenses are better for men's sunglasses? Sunglasses should choose different colors for different occasions, and each color has its own characteristics. We will introduce the characteristics of various sunglasses colors.
1: Gray: It can completely absorb infrared rays and most ultraviolet rays, and will not change the original color of the scenery. Gentle and natural colors are quite popular lens choices.
2: Brown: Brown is the recognized best lens color in brown sunglasses products. It can absorb almost 100% of ultraviolet rays and infrared rays, and the soft color makes the vision comfortable and prevents eyes from fatigue.
3: Green: Like gray glasses, it can absorb all infrared rays and 99% of ultraviolet rays. The blue and red in the light can also be blocked, but sometimes the color of the scenery will be changed after passing through the green lens. But because green brings a cool and comfortable feeling to people and protects the eyes well.
4: Red: Red sunglasses have better blocking properties for some shorter wavelengths, while other protective effects are lower than the other three colors.
5: Yellow: Yellow lenses can absorb 100% of ultraviolet rays and most of the blue light. After absorbing the blue light, the scenery you see will be clearer, so it is more common to wear yellow lenses as filters when hunting and shooting.
Finally, I would like to remind you that men who drive should choose polarized sunglasses. Polarized lenses are lenses that allow directional light to pass through. If you want to describe it more vividly, you can understand it as a blinds effect. Adjust the blinds to a horizontal state, and you can see the scenery outside the window.
At the same time, you will not be affected by the glare of the sun. Therefore, polarized lenses can filter out the glare caused by various factors such as scattering, refraction, and reflection. The final effect is to say goodbye to the stray light that affects observation, and the light of the overall environment will not be greatly dimmed, and the things that need to be observed can still be seen clearly.

From the Revised Data Bank: "Band of Sizzling Thunder"
Reminder that I'm not a professional editor or proofreader. I cannot read or speak Mandarin. This is a fan revision for readability, not a re-translation. For a lengthy explanation of this pet project and repeated disclaimers, check here.
Without further ado, below is my attempt at revising the Data Bank entry for the relic set "Band of Sizzling Thunder." The real in-game text for that entry can be read here.
(Edits to this post are likely to continue as I find errors in a series about readability. I offer no excuses, except that words are tricky and grammar is trickier. I'm glad that better minds than mine do this work in the real world.)
Band's Polarized Sunglasses
A pair of classic sunglasses worn by Janis, one of the lead singers. The chrome lenses reflect a blue hue.
The star's lifespan was plunging as the red giant drew nearer to its collapse into a white dwarf. Beneath the impending threat of the red star’s supernova, residents of Emerald-III began to flee their home planet.
Faced with this future inevitability, the system elites denied any hope to the rest of the inhabitants. They feigned ignorance even as cries of desperation grew louder.
Janis' parents paid a massive amount of credits for the family to board the escape ship, all the while helplessly praying for some kind of interstellar salvation. With the supernova imminent, escape was the only option. However, Janis, the Doctor of Chaos, chose to face the annihilation of her home planet head-on. She did so in an attempt to prove that Emerald-III, having once existed as a home for so many, would never truly perish.
As the dying sun burned ever brighter, Janis took her mother's sunglasses and returned to her home planet with like-minded youths beside her.
Only cowards flee while shouting the names of saviors. --From "Cheap Salvation," a hit from Sizzling Thunder's first album. Janis reworked her angry words from a dispute with her parents into its lyrics.
Band's Touring Bracelet
Sid the bassist’s bracelet, woven from silk tour wristbands. Lyrics are written on some of the bands.
Enthusiasm for Emerald-III’s Sizzling Thunder caught fire, blazing across the whole planet as the band released hit after hit.
Dazzling sparks flew from Dave’s fingertips as the electrifying thunder of the rhythm guitarist’s opening chords kicked off the concert tour. Hordes of fans worshiped those sparks and that thunder as the only light left in their doomed lives.
At each concert, fans of Sizzling Thunder passed out wristbands to everyone entering the concert grounds. They were volunteers, keeping order and offering welcome to all despite what was to come. Most of these fans could not afford the exorbitant price of escape off-world; before Sizzling Thunder’s return, they were trapped in that awful expectant wait for the electromagnetic death burst of their sun. When they witnessed the doomed homecoming of the rebellious youths of Sizzling Thunder, however, something in their bones ignited. On these freely distributed wristbands, they wrote their lyrics and their showtime passion, all the thunder of the band pouring into an unvoiced scream.
Sid the bassist collected wristbands from every concert. His girlfriend wove them into a bracelet for him, and Sid wore it all the time.
There's no meaning, no direction, Nowhere else to go, And no future for us. --From "Our Way," a single from Sizzling Thunder's second album, and Sid's life credo.
Studded Leather Jacket
David, one of the band's lead singers, drew a white star on the back of this leather jacket and made it the cover of the band's final album.
The rock 'n' roll of Sizzling Thunder resounded through the galaxy, calling involuntarily displaced youngsters home to crumbling Emerald-III.
Lead guitarist Jimmy led the band underground to the shelters. There they sang about the tragedy of planetary destruction, and their rock ballads echoed throughout the entire universe.
On the back of his leather jacket, David printed a white star—or, more accurately, a white dwarf, the future state of their sun after its collapse. This symbol, this music—it would be the resounding proof that their homeworld's sun had existed. Those who fled the doomed system and those who stayed behind all heard that thundering rock 'n' roll, and they all united to brandish that same striking symbol.
Despite the star’s death and the jacket’s ultimate annihilation, their presence is now mixed into music and carved into eternity.
We'll burn with our life, 'Cause the white star needs a spark to ignite. --From "White Star," a single from Sizzling Thunder's final album of the same name. David wrote both lyrics and music.
Band's Ankle Boots With Rivets
Drummer Bonham's ankle boots, their dark leather surfaces studded with rivets that reflect the stage lights.
Sizzling Thunder may have changed people's attitudes toward Emerald-III’s final end, but they could not change that end itself.
Desolation and despair were all that remained on the surface of the doomed planet. In this era of scarce resources, the band's albums were made out of discarded X-ray film.
In the early moments of the long night of Emerald-III, the temperature on the planet's surface plunged. The once unbearably searing air was cooling down quite a bit as people emerged from their underground shelter and set out for the place where the band was playing. At this final concert of their "Thunderclap" tour, the restless air filled with the sizzling threat of electromagnetic storms, and lightning ran wild through the metal scaffolding of the stage. Sparks leaped under Bonham's boots. The entire band became the storm, their silhouettes crackling with lightning and their chords a crescendo of thunder. With the last note of the encore, a huge ball of lightning engulfed the stage and ended Sizzling Thunder's final show.
And so, on the night of their twilight show, Sizzling Thunder came to a permanent end, just as their lyrics declared.
Thunderclaps drown out our voice, Lightning runs through our veins. We'll perish with our music and our star. --From "Song of Sizzling Thunder," a single from Sizzling Thunder's final album. Bonham's masterpiece.

Decoding the Ray Ban Myth: Are All Ray Ban Sunglasses Polarized?
Ray Ban, a renowned name in the eyewear industry, has been creating iconic sunglasses for decades. Known for their timeless designs and superior quality, Ray Ban sunglasses have become a must-have accessory for fashion-forward individuals. Amidst the myriad of options offered by Ray Ban, a common question lingers: Are all Ray Ban sunglasses polarized? Let’s embark on a journey to uncover the truth behind this intriguing myth.
1. The Polarization Enigma:
Polarized sunglasses are designed to reduce glare and enhance visual clarity, making them ideal for outdoor activities and driving. While many Ray Ban models are indeed polarized, it is essential to understand that not all of their sunglasses possess this feature. Ray Ban offers a diverse range of lenses, including both polarized and non-polarized options, catering to various preferences and needs.
2. Identifying Polarized Ray Bans:
To identify whether a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses is polarized, there are a few cues to look out for. One notable feature is the “P” or “Polarized” label typically found on the lens. This handy indicator assures buyers of the polarized nature of the sunglasses, guaranteeing reduced glare and improved visual experience. Additionally, Ray Ban usually provides a certificate of authenticity, ensuring the credibility of their polarized sunglasses.
Tumblr media
3. Styles and Polarization:
Ray Ban offers a plethora of sunglasses styles, including the iconic Aviators and Wayfarers, as well as newer additions such as the Clubmasters and Justin frames. It is important to note that while some models within these collections are polarized, others may not be. So, before indulging in a Ray Ban purchase, it is recommended to check the product description or consult with a knowledgeable retailer to confirm the polarization status.
4. Visual Comfort vs. Polarization:
While polarized sunglasses are generally favored for their glare-reducing benefits, it’s crucial to remember that polarization does not necessarily equate to superior visual comfort for everyone. Some individuals might experience visual distortion or difficulty reading certain digital screens when wearing polarized lenses. In such cases, non-polarized options from Ray Ban might be a better choice, providing excellent eye protection without compromising visual clarity.
5. Personal Preference Matters:
Ultimately, the decision between polarized and non-polarized Ray Ban sunglasses boils down to personal preference and specific needs. Polarized lenses are highly recommended for individuals engaging in outdoor activities under bright, reflective conditions, while non-polarized lenses might be more suitable for those seeking a broad range of versatility in different lighting conditions.
Dispelling the myth, it is clear that not all cheap Ray Ban sunglasses are polarized. While Ray Ban offers a wide selection of polarized models, they also provide non-polarized alternatives, ensuring that customers can choose the ideal option based on their preferences and requirements. Whether you opt for polarized lenses to combat glare or non-polarized lenses for versatility, Ray Ban sunglasses guarantee both style and durability. So, the next time you plan to upgrade your sunglasses collection, make an informed decision knowing that Ray Ban has the perfect pair for you, polarized or not!

The Importance of Zero Distortion Sunglasses: Tips for Selecting Sunglasses with Clear and Undistorted Vision
When it comes to selecting sunglasses, most people focus on style and sun protection. However, one crucial aspect that often gets overlooked is the quality of vision provided by the sunglasses.
While wearing sunglasses, clear and undistorted vision is crucial for both comfort and safety. Our team has compiled a quick overview of the tips to buy zero distortion sunglasses.
Understanding Distortion in Sunglasses
Distortion refers to the alteration of the image seen through sunglasses' lenses. It can result in blurred or skewed vision, making it difficult to see objects clearly. Distortion can be caused by various factors, including the lens material, curvature, and manufacturing processes. It can lead to eye strain, headaches, and even compromised depth perception.
Opting for zero distortion sunglasses comes with several benefits. Firstly, they provide improved visual clarity and sharpness, allowing you to see objects in their proper form without any distortions. This enhanced clarity reduces eye strain and fatigue, making it more comfortable to wear sunglasses for extended periods.
Furthermore, zero distortion sunglasses enhance depth perception and object recognition. By eliminating distortions, they enable you to accurately perceive distances and judge the position of objects in your environment. This can be particularly advantageous when engaging in activities such as driving or sports where accurate depth perception is crucial.
Lastly, zero distortion sunglasses contribute to increased safety and comfort. Clear vision allows you to spot potential hazards or obstacles more efficiently, enhancing safety. Moreover, the absence of distortions ensures a more comfortable visual experience, minimizing discomfort or strain on your eyes.
Tumblr media
Factors to Consider When Buying Zero Distortion Sunglasses
To ensure you select sunglasses with zero distortion, consider the following factors:
Opt for sunglasses with high-quality lens materials such as glass or polycarbonate. These materials offer superior optical properties and are less prone to distortion compared to cheap plastic lenses.
Look for sunglasses with minimal curvature, as excessive curvature can introduce distortions. Additionally, flat lenses are a good option for maximum clarity and minimal distortion.
Choose sunglasses with anti-reflective coatings to reduce glare and enhance clarity. Polarized lenses can also be beneficial, as they minimize glare and improve contrast, reducing the chance of distortion.
Select sunglasses with sturdy frames that securely hold the lenses in place. A proper fit is essential, as ill-fitting sunglasses can cause distortions by misaligning the lenses with your eyes. Ensure the sunglasses fit comfortably and securely on your face.
You can find zero distortion sunglasses at local optical stores, specialized sunglass retailers, and reputable online marketplaces. Also, look for brands like ours at Ocean Waves. We are known for producing high-quality sunglasses with excellent optical properties and minimal distortion.
Conclusion
Don't overlook the importance of clear and undistorted vision when choosing sunglasses. Zero distortion sunglasses offer numerous benefits, including improved visual clarity, reduced eye strain, enhanced depth perception, and increased safety and comfort.
By considering factors such as lens materials, curvature, coatings, and fit, you can select sunglasses that provide an optimal visual experience. Make informed choices when buying sunglasses to ensure clear and undistorted vision for your eyes' health and well-being.
