Finally watched season 1 and 2 and the two first episodes of season 3 of Bridgerton with my mom who is 70+ years old.

And here some highlight (in shamble) :

- First she is French so she calls the show "Brigeter-ton" and lady "Dane-berry" and I'm too weak to correct her

- She had a little tear at the last scene of season 1

- She finds the first episode of each season very boring but likes the rest

- She loves Violet. Everytime Mama Bridgeton is on screen she would comment how beautiful her dresses are. She finds her kind and loving.

- On the first Colin's brothel scene she said "Who the hell is this guy?" because she didn't recognize him and I laughed 💀

- She loves Aubrey Halls and Number 5

- She finds Colin "chic"

- She was really impressed by Pen transformation (that's my girl) and in general finds Pen cute

- She hates Cressida but likes Eloise (even tho she finds her a bit egocentric)

- She said season 3 Eloise reminds her of Audrey Hepburn

- During season 2 Kathony sex scene I could hear her saying "hope they won't catch a cold butt naked in the garden" (I was cooking her dinner so I was not there)

- She said Kate is stunning (I mean ofc)

- She likes Portia incisive jokes

- She laughed at "insert himself where" scene

- She talks about Bridgerton to all her friends and it's funny how many of them already watched it 😂

She looked bright in that golden party dress, even tho it was just a detail cause that night in Italy when she was wearing a rock band tee and ripped jeans shorts was proof she looked bright in every way.

She had a glass in her hands, probably not beer and definitely not zero alcohol cause she was gigglier than usual. For the first time since he had that idea, he froze, without being able to move his feet. What if it was a mistake? What if he would ruin her night? Nah. He couldn't think like that, it would be ridiculous and he promised Charlotte no ridiculous things. Also, once back to Woking, the lecturing for leaving at the end of the race would be unpleasantly waiting for him. And somehow she invited him, with those daring words 'if you were there'. He wasn't sure if it was an invitation or a challenge but he was about to do it anyway, no matter which was her real intention. Anyhow, he was there and she wouldn't have sex with the Italian model if he was there, right? Right! Or at least he hoped...

Even so, he didn't want to lose it, lose his time, lose his job, make Charlotte lose hers, had emitted tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere for no reason, he needed to be sure it all wasn't going to be in vain. So he decided to call her and see how things went. Actually, he should have called her before catching a plane to Greece, but it was already done, so fuck it.

He took a deep breath, tapped her name on contacts, and clicked on it, waiting anxiously for her to pick. To be fair, looking at her staring hesitantly at her phone, unsure of what she should do, made him even more anxious. But not as anxious as when she decided to pick up. So anxious he remained in silence for a few seconds "Hello?" he cleaned his throat, his voice sounding a bit different from usual "Hey..." "Is everything alright?" "Yeah! I... hum, just need you to do something for me" she sighed "Hi, Lando, how are you? It's nice to talk with you too" he sighed embarrassed, already blushing "Sorry... Hi, beautiful, how are you?" "Too late Lando, what do you need me to do?" "Don't sleep with the guy" she sniffed putting her drink down "Lando..." His clothes were nice and he tried as much as he could not think about how screwed he would be if it didn't work, but he remained strong, touching her shoulder softly "Don't cry" he demanded, she turned around confused, taking her phone away from her ear, she couldn't believe "Lando…" "Hi!" he smiled "Hold those tears back, miss" he said calmly ending the phone call and rubbing a tear drop from her face, leaving glitter on his thumb "How... What are you doing here?" "I came here to do it" he pulled her for a hug, a strong, full of feelings hug "I am sorry" he whispered against her skin "You came here to hug me?" he pulled his face back just to look at her, still in shock "Yeah" he affirmed, confident. She smiled "And this" he pulled her to a kiss, an intense kiss, that made her relax for the first time since she started to drink thinking about the McLaren's driver; "Take me out of here" she muttered against his lips "Okay" he took her hand and guided the big mess he made her become away from the bar, away from the crowd, and mainly away from the good looking Italian guy, to where they could be only the two of them, to where she didn't have to hide the amazing person she was and fake to be another one, where she could eat pizza and watch k-dramas in comfortable clothes, where he could sleep like a baby, laid on her full-of-pizza belly after 3 months of zero quality sleep and jet lag effect.

He was so lost in those good memories that he didn't even notice the rushed pace he got, she giggled "Wait, wait, wait" bringing him back to reality "What's wrong?" she took her golden Jimmy Cho high heels off and he noticed how much he liked her small stature, smiling at her "What are you doing?" In the hotel room, where they ripped off each other's clothes, the moonlight was the only flash of light coming from the half-open window. She had her back laid on the mattress, her hips widely open, knees parted at its extreme, with his athletic body between her thighs, filling her cervix with himself. Carlos was sleeping deeply. The snorting denounced him. Nothing could break that majestic oneiric experience. Nothing except his old teammate. Lando entered the room trying not to wake her up. He stood there watching the serenity of her sleep. He would kill for sleeping like that. The door didn't wake her up but his loud thoughts did. She opened her eyes slightly before sitting on the bed. She rubbed her eyes, sleepy "What's up?" "I..." He approached the bed sitting at the side next to hers "I had Carlos on the phone" he pointed to his iPhone "At 3am?" "Yeah" "Is everything okay?" He took a deep breath "No" she tried to touch his hand but he retreated "What's wrong?" "I can't go out with you anymore" Her bright faded away, as she was made of sugar and his words were water.  He was ready for her screaming with him and throwing the whole hotel room in his head, but she just chuckled, sarcastic, bitter "Why it doesn't impress me?" "Look... I just can't" "You just can't" She shook her head, turning her back to him "I should have never slept with you" She walked away from him, and he followed "Wait..." "Why? Why did you come till here and look for trouble if you knew it would hurt me? I let it very clear I couldn't handle this right now" "Because I couldn't let you sleep with the good looking Italian!" she hit him with the pillow softly "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!? That was what the text said. He grabbed his stuff from the bedroom floor, his phone and wallet, wore his white Nike airs, and as fast as he got there, he was out. The text was a coincidence only. He had already made up his mind at the hotel lobby. He promised Charlotte not to do stupid things but unfortunately, he let her down "It's better Charlie doesn't find out" he thought.

thinking about like a post crash no switzerland au where ur vans roommate or something and lottie comes to your apartment to reconnect with van but only you're home so u let her stay until van comes home.. she introduces herself as charlotte cuz idk i feel like she'd start going by that shortly after being rescued..

u pretty much don't know anything about the crash other than that it happened, van barely even acknowledges that it did, just wanting to move on with life and you respect that. of course you're curious about it but you don't want to pry, it's obviously a sensitive topic. as soon as lottie mentions that she was on the soccer team with van it clicks, she was there too. it makes you more curious what she wants to see van about, but you don't ask.

she starts coming over more, like once a week or so, they usually go into vans room and close the door, which makes you wonder what they're doing. after a while they start just hanging out more which means she's around you more. once she's warmed up to you she actually starts talking a lot, before she was much quieter since she didn't know you.

she honestly uses you as a way to just yap sometimes since you love to listen, and she tells you about the plans she has to make a retreat for people with mental health issues to get help in an alternative way, thigh obviously it's just in the plan stage, she knows it won't happen for years and years but you think it's so amazing!! you also notice she seems Really into nature, always talking about certain plants that grow natively to your area that she sees on her walks or her favorite critters.

she starts coming over more often but half the time is isn't even to see van 😭 she shows you her new ideas for the wellness center or just tells you about her week and honestly talking to her is the highlight of your week.. van gets so annoyed with you when lottie leaves tho bc she didn't even speak a single word to van 😑

i've seen so many fans make stupid comments like 'how did he (charles) pull her'..... Do people ever think for a second? 'how did an attractive, wealthy, famous man pull an attractive woman?' and all of those compliments are by women, who are fans of Charles. Its feels so performative, i feel its because they don't want to be seen like those 'jealous' fan-girls, thats why they trip-over themselves pretending that Charles is not the catch in the relationship - he is. The only reason they know of Alexa's existence is because of him, that is why they are her fans. Is Alex better dressed, has she showed more personality, is she more attractive, more charismatic than WAGs like Kika, Flavy, Lily Mhe and so on? Nope, but considering that the bfs of those women are not as famous - they dont get the same attention. I sit at my desk as the ship sways with the sea.

The rest of the crew left for the land to the town near here a few hours ago, and I opted to stay behind, for fear that I’ll be recognized and brought back to the palace.

I sigh and stare, boredom filling me to the brim.

There’s suddenly a more aggressive wave and the ship sways a little harder. I hear something clunk loudly inside a drawer, and I open it curiously.

A beat-up journal with a bright pink cover lays inside and I grin lightly: it’s my diary from when I was little– maybe five or six?

The first page says, in huge, messy cursive letters:

THIS JOURNAL BELONGS TO PRINCESS CHARLOTTE THORNTON

I leaf through the pages, cringing slightly at my obnoxious joy in most of the entries.

One in particular catches my eye.

It’s maybe midway through the journal and is titled JUNE 13. I guess I didn’t think putting the year was important…

The entry reads:

Dearest journal,

Today was a really fun day!! I went dress shopping with Miss Cynthiaッ! I got a really pretty yellow dress that sparkles a lot. But then afterwards Miss Cynthia sent me to the playgrounds while she traded and stuff. But!! While I was there I met this boy…

The bun that Miss Cynthia put my hair in hurts.

A lot.

But I’m not allowed to take it out because it’s rude… I think that’s really stupid.

I sit on a warm wooden bench and kick my legs back and forth.

I have to wait here for Miss Cynthia and it’s really boring because all the parents of the kids are telling their kids that I’m the princess and to leave me alone.

I’m not even wearing my crown!!!!!!

Someone taps on my shoulder.

I turn my head to see a short, messy haired boy with freckles and skin that make him look like an almond chocolate piece.

Chocolate Boy says, “Hiya! D’you wanna play??”

I’m kinda surprised! He’s the only kid here who’s actually talked to me instead of saying something dumb like “Your Highness” and doing a little bow.

“Okay!” I tell him enthusiastically and jump off the bench, chasing after the boy, who ran away almost as soon as I first said yes.

We run around the playground for what feels like forever until Miss Cynthia comes back.

She sees me running with my new friend, Chocolate Boy, and has this look on her face I’ve never seen on her before.

She looks… angry.

But why? I’m finally having fun with a kid my age. Is it so wrong for a princess to be friends with a regular kid?

“Princess Charlotte!” she calls, and everyone in the vicinity turns to look at me and Chocolate Boy. Everyone bows except for the boy and I try to hide behind the blonde strands of hair that fell out of my bun while we were running.

“Hiya, Miss Cynthia!” I say with a smile, hiding my embarrassment as well as I can.

“Oh, dear, there you are! I was wondering where you had gone. Come now, we must be going back to the palace,” Miss Cynthia says as she drags me away from my friend and back to the carriage.

“But…” I trail off when I realize I won’t be able to stop Miss Cynthia. “I want to say bye to my friend!”

“Oh, sweetheart…” Miss Cynthia sounds a bit funny and I don’t know what the emotion in her voice is. “He’s not your friend. A wonderful princess like you has friends that share her status. He’s a commoner, not nearly good enough for a friend of the heir princess.”

“Well, then I don’t want to be the heir princess anymore,” I grumble, crossing my arms as I get in my seat in the carriage.

A soft smile spreads across my face as I realize the “Chocolate Boy” as I had – mildly rudely, might I add – dubbed him is really Matteo.

I wonder if he still remembers this.

He probably does.

He remembers a lot of things about me.

someone had linked me this a few months ago when I was queuing the videos and complaining about how hard it was to find the social media pages for everyone

this turned into a long post. tldr is it's hard to recreate something from 12 years ago even tho it was entirely on the internet

I went thru all of Lydia, Charlotte, and Jane's tumblrs and queued posts that are mostly pics of the characters posted from the blogs rather than reblogs. The people who put together that transcript of all the social media posts clearly had the same idear but only looked thru the tagged posts on each blog because Jane's blog has a few in-character photoshoots that someone didn't tag correctly. Since I'm trying to waste as much time as possible, I actually looked thru the entire blog archive so it was a little easier for me to catch them. Charlotte unfortunately does not have anything worth reblogging, it's mostly movie posters and trailers with a few fan interactions. Jane's blog is a fashion blog so there will be a handful of posts from her, and Lydia does the most fan interactions which includes reblogging gifs and fanart. I was listening to the Wicked soundtrack while working on it so I did add in two posts comparing Lydia to Glinda. She also starts posting her youtube vids on her tumblr, but those are already queued on the main blog so I'm not going to add them to the soc med blog

twitter's UI is not familiar to me and it doesn't seem like they have a good archive function the way tumblr does so instead of pulling from that, I'm copying from the social media transcript, de-formatting it in gsheets, then I'm going to reformat it with a fake tweet generator. If they missed any tweets like they did with the tumblr posts it's going to be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they have some fan-interactions there too but just from skimming it it's only fans who aren't winking at the fourth wall, like asking what kind of camera they use and saying they looked tired in the most recent video and asking if they liked the most recent doctor who episode so I trust their judgement

the different styles of the tweets and tumblr posts are actually really done, shows the team had a very strong sense of character for everyone in the cast. The tweets from the Lees and Darcys are more similar to each other, the tweets from Charlotte and Lizzie are more similar to each other, the tweets from Kitty (a literal cat in this version, her account is run by Lydia) really seems like Lydia tweeting as a cat rather than like someone hired by Hank Green pretending to be a cat

fixing the formatting on the tweets is really boring but I'm getting a much bigger appreciation of the overall ambition and success of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and of the fans who put together the social media transcript, and people who try to do research on internet-based communities. There's sooo many posts spread out over soo many websites, but those are subatomic compared to all the posts on all those sites so they can still be hard to find, and there's always the risk of things being deleted w/no secondary source

i agree that the podcast really is so interesting — and imo it's a lot of plain gossip and tv criticism masked as "professional insight", which i live for lmao — but there are times she is really too much... she often mocks or eye-rolls things in a way that, again, doesn't feel constructive and comes off as very rude. mean girl energy. it also bothers me how she will talk at richard instead of engaging in a back and forth, and sometimes that turns into an episode in which she speaks 80% of the time. then again, as content cycles throughout the year, sometimes what's on/hot atm is just more in her wheelhouse than his, so we just have to wait for new taskmaster, new bbc comedies, new doctor who, whatever interests him, and then hopefully he'll have even more opportunities to shine... i do cherish when he gets a chance to speak lmao

hahaha this is funny... it's a good question 😅 there are a few reasons... he's good bantz! he doesn't take himself too seriously, laughs at himself, can be teased, isn't mean spirited. people really appreciate that. plus, he represents a lot of people who aren't otherwise on tv — not primetime bbc, at least. there starts to be an issue when he just...doesn't try, doesn't contribute. he's fallen asleep on like three different shows? didn't he just...not show up to the second-half of his bakeoff special? often he's got nothing to say? mo really carried the convos on his talk show, his teammates carried him on bfq, and so on. he just doesn't seem to have the interest or perhaps the stamina (orrr perhaps the respect) for long records 😅

anyways, he was being pushed for a little while, but that appears to have stopped. he's hasn't been around too much lately 🤔 (tho ngl idk what he's up to!)
