Characters: Park Jinyoung x Reader x Kim Hanbin; Kim Jisoo, and appearances by many more
Warning/s: Slight cussing
Summary: Your friendship with your guy best friend goes awry when you introduce your new boyfriend to him.
A/N: My friend Hannah sent this request (HAHAHAHA) so I’ll tweak it and just use the second person’s point of view, as per usual. Enjoy, you guys!
You guys find out as you read whether who’s the boyfriend or who’s the bff. (I’m evil)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jinyoung was never fond of you having a boyfriend. He met you when you were in your freshman year of college, and he was in his senior year already. Because you are Jaebum’s younger cousin, Jinyoung cannot help but feel protective over you, and even more than Jaebum actually is.
The problem is, you’ve always wanted Jinyoung to be something more.
It killed you (you are overdramatic, no questions) when you found out Jinyoung went with someone during your coming of age party, and to make matters worse, he wasn’t there for you, but he was so focused to the beautiful companion of his, he barely looked at you in your pristine pastel dress.
But you can’t blame him either. She just looked that beautiful, maybe more than you who is supposed to be the center of attention.
“Bin, this is Jaebum oppa,” the guy looks shitless scared about meeting Jaebum, but it actually is going well with your cousin.
“Nice to meet you, dude,” Jaebum shakes his hand.
“And this is Jinyoung oppa,” you point to Jinyoung, who does not hide his displease over the presence of the guy who is holding your hand so tight. “This is Hanbin, my boyfriend.”
You can see the confusion meeting in Jinyoung’s eyes. You do not know how to decipher his disagreement over the guys you date. You had some in the past, and they never lasted long because of Jinyoung’s unnecessary and unwelcome intervention. You have argued with him a lot over it, but then again, none were too serious for you to lash out for.
But Hanbin is different from all the guys you have ever been with.
The first time you met Kim Hanbin was when he bumped into you in the hallways of the university as he was holding stacks of paper that could have almost flew around if it wasn’t for his quick reflex. You, though, hit the ground quite painfully.
“Ouch,” you try to stand up, but your bum is stinging from its impact on the marble-floored ground.
“I’m so sorry!” He rambles his apologies as he places the papers on the side and aids you. “Let me help you up!”
You’ve heard about the Kim Hanbin before, and you did not expect him to lose his cool over accidentally hurting you. Everyone’s impression about him was always about being charismatic and cold. The guy who is helping you up is not any of what was told he was.
“Does it still hurt? I can bring you to the clinic if it does.” He worries and fidgets as he waits for your answer.
“I’m fine, Hanbin-ssi! You do not have to worry about me. You must be late, that’s why you’re in a hurry, right?”
“Yes, Y/N-ssi, but—” Hanbin suddenly stops his words. “How did you know my name?”
“And how did you know mine?” You raise a brow and cross your arms as you question him.
“Touché.” He points. “You’re Jaebum hyung’s cousin, right? He’s proud of your sculpting skills. Said you sculpted his cat perfectly using a bar of Dove.”
“He flatters me too much.” You snort. “And I know you because you’re the talk of the town,” you roll your eyes as you closely remember the squealing of your friends over Hanbin’s performance with his bandmates a week ago in the university’s charity concert.
“No I’m not,” he blushes over the compliment that you lowkey gave.
“Aren’t you late?” You chime, looking back at the papers he was carrying before he helped you out.
“Shoot!” He takes them in his arms in a hurry. “I’ll make it up to you later, Y/N! See you!”
And he did make it up to you over convenience store ice cream and a cup of Shin ramen. You do not complain, because you are both college students who are broke and busy and would opt instant food than cooking and eating at a lavish restaurant.
But slowly, your convenience store trips turn to coffee shop study dates as he writes his music and you do your drawings. Every single time he writes, his eyebrows are always meeting in between, and your hand automatically etches his distinct feature on your sketch pad.
And then it turns to you going to their band practice after classes, with the youngest ones Junhoe and Chanwoo curious about how Hanbin managed to ask you to spend a lot of time with him.
“I like Hanbin,”
And that is your first confession, which you totally never planned, but something you’ve always wanted to say. You watch the other six boys giving Hanbin a mischievous smile, and his lips curl upwards in a boyish grin you’ve drawn maybe once or twice already.
“And I like you too, Y/N.”
So here you are at the present, introducing the man you’re in a relationship with to two of who you consider as your older brothers.
After Jaebum and Jaebum shook Hanbin’s hand, the two of you go on your own way, as the best friends head somewhere else. Bambam’s party is already on full blast, and you can sense that Hanbin is not inclined with it. He only felt comfortable enough moving around after meeting Bobby and finding a topic to talk about.
You find Jaebum craning his neck over the crowd of people, looking for someone else.
“Have you seen Jinyoung?” You only realize his absence when you also find his girlfriend, Kim Jisoo, looking everywhere for him. She cannot even focus on her friend Jennie’s stories as she looks way too worried for her boyfriend’s whereabouts. She exchanges a look with you, and you nod at her in assurance.
“I’ll go look for him.” You tell Hanbin, not wanting to worry him as well. You pass through tangling bodies and flirting people, finding your way outside to where you are sure Jinyoung will be. He has always hated the noise and the crowd.
You find Jinyoung on the swing on the backyard of Bambam’s house, staring at his black sneakers.
“What’s up with you?” You sit on the vacant swing next to him.
He only hums, probably debating whether he wants to tell you or to shut up, which he rarely ever does.
“You’re serious about Kim Hanbin?” He lowly mutters, as if he’s disgusted over the words.
“I always was,” you tort, glaring at Jinyoung.
“You were never serious about dating guys, so what makes him so different?” He spats at you, and you can feel the venom lacing his words.
“Because I like him!” You stand up, already over the attitude he is showing you. “What is wrong with you, Park Jinyoung?!”
“I can’t believe you never knew that I liked you, Y/N!” He exclaims in frustration. “While you were going out with other guys, I always wanted to be the one to be with you, but then again, you were blind.”
After that was silence, and only the sound surrounding from inside the house can be heard as you wait for each other to say something.
“I liked you too, oppa,” you murmur. “But none of that matters now. I love Hanbin and you have—”
You halt your words when you find a tear-stricken Kim Jisoo behind the swing, and she probably heard more than what she is supposed to. “Unnie.”
Jinyoung whips his head to where your eyes are looking at in fear and anxiety, and when he finds his girlfriend looking like a kicked puppy.
“Jisoo, wait!” Before he can get to her, she has already ran away like a cheetah, not giving Jinyoung any room for explanation.
But then again, she must have been hurt over Jinyoung’s revelation.
“I love Jisoo now, and I just wanted to tell you,” Jinyoung completes his confession. You purse your lips and nod, acknowledging it.
And he rushes after her, forgetting you, and you are completely alright with it.
“Jisoo, stop running!” Jinyoung almost catches the attention of the entire party’s populace.
“Jisoo unnie, where are you going?” Jennie panics as she watches her friend take her bag and bolt out of the house. Everyone around them are watching, but soon they forget as they drown back to their drinking and the blaring music.
“What is happening?” Hanbin looks lost, and when you come back and wrap your arms around his waist, he is steered clear of his worry.
“Jinyoung oppa just fucked up, don’t worry,” you kiss Hanbin’s cheek and bury your face on the crane of his neck.
Meanwhile, Jinyoung is still trying to catch Jisoo in the quiet street at midnight.
“Jisoo, please listen to me!”
“I’ve heard enough, Jinyoung!” It always breaks his heart to hear her sobs, and even if he promised to never be the cause of it, he had done it.
“No, please listen to me, baby, please,” Jinyoung never lowers his pride down, but Jisoo is one of his weaknesses. It used to be you, but now, she is the one Jinyoung gets up everyday for.
When Jisoo finally stops and turns around to listen, Jinyoung takes this as an opportunity to run to her and envelope her in a tight hug.
He lets her break down in his chest, not minding the streaks his polo will probably have later.
“Please don’t cry, baby,” Jinyoung’s voice breaks, and when Jisoo pulls away and faces him, his heart breaks.
“Do you love Y/N?” She asks, wanting to hear the absolute truth from Jinyoung himself.
“I do, Jisoo, as my younger sister,” Jinyoung clears. “I used to like her before, but when I met you, I suddenly forgot about her. Suddenly, there is only you.”
Jisoo presses her eyes close, but more tears come out.
“You’re making me cry with your cheesiness, Jinyoung,” she cries out, but not because of pain this time. Jinyoung only chuckles and hugs her close to his chest once again.
“I’ll be cringy cheesy if it means you won’t be sad ever again, baby.”
“So, on a scale of one to ten, how much do you like me?” You and Hanbin rarely talk about feelings out of the blue, and it is always in a place where there’s only the two of you. Now, there are the only two of you sober, since Jinyoung had already fled away with Jisoo somewhere else and many have gone home. The others’ sobriety are already taken away by the alcohol they inhaled hours ago.
“Hmm…” Hanbin pretends to think. “Maybe a twelve, because I don’t just like you. I love you.”
And you go redder, even if your cheeks are already crimson from the beer you were given earlier.
“You guys are disgusting,” Jaebum slurs as he plops himself on the floor’s carpet.
“Why am I single?” Your cousin complains before falling into a deep slumber, and you only chuckle because it took you a while as well before you found him.
You couldn’t be more happy.
