#ch: Billy Hargrove

Billy had always hated himself. He didn’t like the way his blood was so quick to boil, how his fists were so fast to tighten up. He was disgusted at the thought that he had inherited his father’s temper, his eyes.

But Billy liked the way he looked, enjoyed the way people reacted to him just by being—or at least, he used to. Before. Before his life had been plagued by darkness, by a faceless puppeteer.

Now—well, he hated himself three-sixty.

He couldn’t stand the sight of him; how his eyes had hollowed out from losing so much weight, how his skin had lost all trace of sunlight, how he was scarred, all over, forever.

Billy had always known nobody would ever love him but he had hoped someone who’d found him attractive would fake it for at least a little while. But now, who would want him like this? With blood-stained hands, drained face, body marked and textured. Rough skin, rough soul. He was destined for loneliness, had always been since he was a child, anyway.

In the darkness of his room in the trailer, he cried himself to sleep every night. Silent sobs muffled against his pillow, for his body hurt but not as much as knowing he was loveless.

Billy attracts attention everywhere he goes, even when not meaning to. People notice him in Hawkins. He sticks out like a sore thumb and uses that to his advantage for as long as he can. What I find interesting is the fact that Billy gets Steve's attention because he wants it. In quite a few scenes, Billy deals with unwanted attention. He's performing for most of his screen time, which is extremely draining.

But on the basketball court, it's the first time he looks like he's having fun. Whatever way you choose to look at it, whether you're a shipper or not, it's kind of sweet. At some point, Billy isn't performing on the court with Steve, the court actually becomes a stage where he lets out a side of himself that he hasn't seen in a while. It's nice to be around people who bring out your playful side, especially when your life has no room for you to act your age.

Some actors say they feel free when they act like there's a part of them that's not really acting, and I think that's where Billy really looks free. The only other time was the memory of his mother, on the beach. His smiles in both scenes are real.

Her mother looks like she had too much love to agree to something so easy, so I say, Neil would take advantage of her condition, that she just had a really difficult birth, and he would take care of everything, forge his wife's signature (which I see quite credible, being him) and give them up for adoption in 1 week.

And his daughter (Alexandra) he would take her to a military reformatory, that for times of conflict with Russia that place is a fucking hell, and as a Vietnam veteran, he would take her to the worst place, forgotten God, on a day when his wife is not there, and Billy, is still small enough, not to remember her.

Maybe?

Edit: Alexandra is the one who starts the search and when she sees this test, she first looks for the address of her siblings, and then in the area she makes it known, so they fall and the children discover that they have siblings.

Eddie ran his tongue over his bottom lip, a slight frown forming on his face. The others had told him what had happened to Billy, how he had stepped up to be a hero when it came to the monster that had attacked the Starcourt Mall. It seemed that the two of them had their own scars to bear now thanks to the creatures from the Upside Down. "You're not alone in this Billy," he replied softly, "I'm here... we'll find a way to move forward, promise."

Eddie let out a laugh at Billy's reaction, holding up his hands slightly. "I don't know man, I'm just saying what I thought. But hey, if you're into metal then that's awesome." His smile widened at the other said that it was catchy. "Well you should come see us play then, I'm sure you'd find our songs catchy too." Nodding at the other's response to the offer of weed, he hummed. "Duly noted. Cigarettes it is."

“I don’t know. Guess I thought you might have been more into the popular kind of stuff. New wave maybe?” Eddie shrugged. Now that he looked at Billy, he could see the slight metal aesthetic the other had. Maybe he had gotten him completely wrong. “Yeah I am…Corroded Coffin,” he grinned, “and you are always welcome to come by. Like you said, we’re neighbours so it’s not like you have to go very far. I also have some pretty good weed if you’re into it.”

Billy wrinkled his nose.  “Seriously man?” He asked.  “What part of me just screams new wave?”  He could have sworn that between pulling into parking lots blaring his music.  Billy had a teasing tone to his voice.  “Not a bad name it’s catchy at least.”  He said.  A chuckle that ended in one small flinch.  “Wasn’t really my thing, but I’ll keep it in mind.”

Aka, whenever Billy and Steve are in a room together, it's like everyone else just ceases to exist, and their coach is the first one to get tired of them.

HC: When Nancy starts visiting the pool, which leads to Heather paying a kid to pretend to drown so she can show off in front of her crush.

"That's the only time I've ever seen you jump in the pool-" "Shut up, Billy."

Nancy barely looks up from her book. Billy cheekily reminds Heather that she's short 20 bucks and her hair's been ruined for nothing.

I like Nick's idea, and this other post where Jason is the youngest, which sounds much better.....

What if there are 4 of them? Nick, Jeremy, Billy and Jason?

Where at the moment they are born Neil finds himself angry that there are so many, and gives up for adoption the one he reaches first, who turns out to be Jeremy, which even Alexandra didn't know there were 4, not 3.

And years later Jeremy learns that he is adopted, and begins to look for his biological family, he hears rumors of some pretty interesting brothers, and after investigating, he realizes that his brothers.

And one afternoon Jeremy comes knocking on his door, Alexandra opens it.

Jeremy standing at the door with a "hello" and the others seeing that his sister does not say anything, they look out and see Jeremy and the "hello?" And everyone is left "(゜ロ゜)"

Steve had tried his best to keep the noise to a minimum but it was proving rather difficult when Billy was making him feel so incredible. Feeling the other’s hand come round to rest over his mouth, he let out a half laugh, head turning so he could look at his partner. “I got a better idea,” he whispered, “how about you give me a kiss instead?”

Stranger Things + headlines (10/?)

It’s been a long time since Steve left Hawkins behind, since he left the summer of 1985 tightly locked in a corner of his mind.

He was happy in New York City, loved his apartment with Robin, loved the friends he had made here, breathed and exhaled warmth for this city which had so caringly taken him in. But, he felt hollow some days, especially the days where that lock would loosen and the memories would come back.

They were happy memories, for the most part. He cherished those ones, the ones which still made him smile to himself in the middle of the street. Though, when the bad ones hit, it was still unbearable.

He couldn’t think of Billy, of the way he could still remember the taste of his lips, the shape of his waist underneath his hand. He couldn’t think of how Billy left him one night with only a note to remember him by.

I had to. I’m sorry.

Those five words were still imprinted in Steve’s mind, forever echoing even after being torn apart and thrown into the trash that very morning.

Steve doesn’t really know why today his thoughts have traveled back in time to sunny days and endless love making nights. He needs a distraction, whichever it might be.

That’s why he accepts to join Robin and her coworkers for dinner. They’ve chosen a tiny place which had just recently opened in Greenwich Village. It’s cozy; wooden furniture and fairy lights, black leather chairs and artsy painted walls. Steve likes it, feels calm in it.

All of Robin’s coworkers are nice, they keep up the conversation, always making sure Steve feels included, which he greatly appreciates. Dinner is incredible, probably one of the most tasteful meals he’s had in… years.

As a starter the waiter brings out an assortment of bruchette, each one topped by ingredients from all the parts of the world; Italy, Greece, Mexico, Thailand, Morocco. Steve can���t help but lick his fingers after each bite.

Main course is hearty; a fresh sea urchin pasta. It tastes like the sea, like the infinite summers he’d spend as a child in Positano with his parents.

They get asked if they’d like a second course which everyone at the table is quick to deny since they’re all full and ready to leave some room for dessert. The waiter tells them the last course and liquors will be presented to them by the chef which lifts whispers of curiosity amongst them all.

Steve is enjoying himself, laughing with Robin as she goes into extreme detail about her last failed date night. The thoughts have gone away, he’s free of them again, for a while at least. Until he sees him—white chef jacket, tight around his arms, his hair is tightly pulled back, leaving his face to shine under the warm light of the restaurant.

Steve’s vision goes blurry for a second, disconcerted by the shock, by the confusion of if this is really happening or not.

“Robin,” Billy says, and there’s a long pause. “Steve.”

He can feel Robin’s eyes on him, Billy’s eyes on him, but he can’t look at either of them, instead he buries his face in the glass of wine in front of him. The world seems to be crumbling around him, every person becoming faceless, every light in the room becoming distorted. His heart is pounding incessantly, looking for a way out of his chest.

Steve doesn’t really know how or why he does it but he looks up and meets Billy’s gaze. And, there’s something in his eyes, a mix of sorrow and longing Steve wasn’t prepared to face.

“So, uh.” Billy clears his throat. “Here we have, the Sailing Lovers. Eclair filled with a rose and elderberry crème pat with a glaze of Madagascar vanilla bean, accompanied by an Amaretto liqueur.”

Steve is entranced as Billy explains dessert, too in his own mind to notice the glisten in Billy’s eyes as he makes his way back into the kitchen.
