if nakyung learned anything from the first time this happened is that communication is key. she still stands by that if her and chloe actually talked about what happened with johnny, they’d still be friends or at least better than they are now. but they didn’t, they snapped at each other, fought, yelled, argued, everything but talk and now they’re going on months of no talking unless they’re on camera.

cece isn’t nakyung’s friend. she barely knew the girl. but still, for some reason, it mattered to her a lot of what the other girl thought of her. she wanted to fix their relationship that didn’t exist prior to the whole ‘other woman pt.2′ scandal. 

she’s projecting it’s obvious but she won’t admit that, ever.

“that’s so cool. i didn’t actually meet him until, like, 2017 when yoonah introduced us. he was such a tool–” beside her kora kicks her leg in a last ditch effort to stop whatever nakyung is trying to do, the awkwardness of cece and nakyung’s conversation spilling over onto her and making kora feel like she’s watching a car crash. nakyung looks at kora, slowly shutting her mouth with a tight smile as she looks back at cece, clearing her throat.

“sorry,” the girl whispers, taking a long sip of her orange drink and letting a silence settle at the table. then the thoughts start eating at her again, what if cece told everyone she came onto him? what if she thinks nakyung is the bad person? what jaehyun lied to cece about her? she can’t keep her mouth shut, she just can’t.

“i really didn’t mean to sleep with your boyfriend,” nakyung blurts, causing kora’s eyes to widen and fork to freeze mid-stab as nakyung’s hands do as much talking as her mouth, “like, i really didn’t. i swear. i thought it was just me and yoonah and–and he’d always pick yoonah over me anyways so i thought i was just a back-up not a back-up back-up and he rarely talked to me about anything but se–” kora kicks nakyung’s leg again, this time harder to stop her nearly incoherent rambles about jaehyun and further embarrass herself.

“i know it looks bad but i didn’t mean it. i swear.”

cece wanted to scream at nakyung and tell her to shut the fuck up and just eat her fucking food but she didn’t have it in her. all she could do was ignore her and maybe she’d get the message that she didn’t want to be friends.

she could hear that nakyung was still speaking but as she made her eyes zero in on her spaghetti her voice seemed to fade into the ambiance of the waves crashing behind her.

“i really didn’t mean to sleep with your boyfriend,”

cece’s head shot up at this, her eyes finally locking with the ones across the table.

“what the -“

“i know it looks bad but i didn’t mean it. i swear.”

cece didn’t have words to express the sudden wave of red hot rage and embarrasment that coursed through her. she really couldn’t understand why nakyung was persisting so much, surely she could see that cece was uncomfortable or at least that now was not the time for cece to relive that fact that someone she thought was the love of her life was fucking other girls.

why did she believe that the company holiday was the perfect time to address everything. why would she announce that in front of everyone and embarrass her even more.

“nakyung ...” she mumbled trying to draw as little attention to herself as possible.

“you don’t have to explain yourself to me, you don’t have to lie either. you literally said he’d said so much about me. and you ... you did it to chloe... it’s okay just ... stop talking to me. please.”
