Criminal Case Inkember 2024

Part 1 : Day 1 to 10

After Inktober 2024, let's get to Criminal Case Inkember, held by @inkembercriminalcase on Instagram ! This time, we have the choice between 2 characters for each Prompt, which I find amazing because this could develop your creativity even more ! You can even do it with both characters, or even others !

Here is the Prompt List :

RULES ! (I gave it to myself to add more "punch" and "difficulty", juts like I did with Inktober, but less rules because it is already centralized into one Fandom) :

No duplicates of characters ! If a character is drawn in a Prompt, I cannot draw this character ever again, even if it somehow fitting for the theme (considering the amount of characters in these games, it should not be difficult).

What's your favorite "killer becomes a victim" case in CC?

Pretty self-explanatory. I tend to think those cases are some of the best in all of CC, and several of these cases are quite popular, so I'm curious--out of all of them, which one was your favorite?

Note: I'm only counting cases where someone who was revealed to be the killer of a case who then becomes a victim, so people who masterminded/ordered, but did not personally commit, murders such as Archie Rochester or Natasha Romanova, people who killed someone off-screen but weren't convicted for it during the game, such as Father Donovan or Ruth Wu, or even people who murdered someone on-screen but weren't arrested and convicted, such as Denise Daniels, don't count.

Thanks to Tumblr's poll limits, I couldn't put all 12 cases where the killer is the victim. The cases I decided to leave out were Death without Parole, where Kev O'Connell is killed, and The Third Degree, where Theresa Rosenthal was killed, considering I figured that those were probably the least memorable out of all of these cases. If those were your favorite "killer becomes the victim" cases, uh, sorry about that.

name one of your favorite CC character(because it's impossible to only have one favorite character in this game)and why they are your favorite

One of my favourite CC characters… To probably no one's surprise, I am going to go with Nathan Pandit.

Why Nathan is my favourite character is because he's someone I can relate to. He has a dark sense of humour, is awkward around people, especially children, is introverted, and is more comfortable around the dead than the living. At least, that's how I headcanon him to be!

I've also always been drawn to the less popular characters. Yes, I know Nathan is a lot more popular now than he once was and deserves all the love he is given, but when the fandom was still new, it never seemed like people talked about him. Whenever people talked about the season 1 team, it was always: "Jones is so awesome!" "Alex is so cute!" "Grace is amazing!" "Ramirez is funny!" "I miss Chief King!" meanwhile, I would be there wondering:

What about Nathan? Where is his love?

Back then, he seemed like a forgotten teammate, especially as more seasons and characters were introduced. So I loved him because that was how I felt growing up, a forgotten person among an ever-growing number of great people. So as weird as it might sound, having Nathan made me feel like there was someone who understood me, even if he wasn't real.

I was so happy when the fandom started growing, and we got more members. It was almost as if it had been reborn with a new life and people to care for it. And with this change came more love for characters like Nathan, Karen Knight, Tony Marconi, and so many more! I couldn't be happier to see Criminal Case finally getting the recognition it deserves!

I went a little off track at the end, but I mean it when I say I am happy to see everyone who has joined the fandom. And they have made me love Nathan even more by sharing their thoughts, headcanons, stories and artwork about him! So thank you all for giving my favourite coroner more love and attention!🥰

Who is your favorite CC character?

Oh, this is easy. Karen Knight and Tony Marconi, ofc. But, it isnt just because theyre cool ass characters who serve as good antagonists, but its because of their characterization and how a lot of their actions aren't out of a place of malice, but out of a place to protect their families. (spoilers for the first game, pacific bay and conspiracy under the cut!)

People love demonizing both of their actions, which pisses me off cus its always the same people who act as if characters like jones and frank are perfect people. like, i adore frank and actually have grown to like jones, but you cant sit there and act as if theyre perfect people and then demonize characters who did very similar things. For example, Karen. She did some obviously shitty things, dont get me wrong, but then you learn its because she wanted to get her dead daughters back. She organized a whole heist and held Andrea hostage to get Frank back because she wanted to power the supercomputer and get her family back with Frank. In grief, she decided that she'd rather be a criminal and have her family back then simply move on, as her daughters had been taken from her at such early ages. But, then, when its revealed Tesla n Alden were using her n wanted to destroy the world, she ended up ultimately sacrificing her LIFE to make sure pacific bay doesnt die because of her own personal mourning. THAT is a beautiful, complex character. and yet shes constantly shat on like shes the 'mail villain' of pacific bay when, really, shes far from it. Plus, the characters in the game - other then frank, of course - act like shes pure evil and that shes a demon at heart. which sucks. And then, Jones, when Zoe goes to prison (which i honestly think sucks n think she deserved way better), Jones wants to break her out of it to get her girlfriend back. Understandable. But to do this, he threatens Tony Marconi at gunpoint, and the only time he gives up is when Tony TACKLES HIM in self defence to get the gun away from him. Jones then screams revenge, and BREAKS INTO TONY'S HOUSE, after all is said and done. and yet, when this was discovered, he wasnt deemed as evil, instead he got a slap on the wrist by diane and he isnt shat on by the fandom as much as well. yea no so i get really annoyed at that. when people demonize characters like karen and then act like other characters are saints even though they did similar things. also i'm so sorry this ended up a huge rant UGEFWU
