Swifty had thought he’d be into the pastel pink hair for longer, he had to admit. Okay, it was half a year now, but it had been a long thought over decision and now it was only a few months until he looked at the next colours and thought ‘I need that right now’.

And it would have been way more tedious if he didn’t have a boyfriend that was good with dying his hair and that cost a lot less than going to the hairdresser.

“Bum.”, he whined, sitting next to Bumlets on the couch. “Can you dye my hair? I have a vision.”

Bumlets raised an eyebrow, knowing very well what Swifty’s visions could look like. “Depends. Can you show me?”

Oh how he loved that Bumlets at least considered every idea he had, thinking it over if he could do it or not and not instantly saying yes or no, but really thinking about it. Swifty pulled out the reference he’d found, hair similar length to his and hair divided into pastel pink colours evenly, looking beautiful.

Bumlets took his time mulling it over, considering what he could do an couldn’t. “I think I could try. I’m not sure if I’d be able to do it that perfectly, but-“

Swifty didn’t even let him finish the sentence, already hugging him close. “Thank you, Dom.”

“Anything for you, sweetheart.”

So here they were, a few weeks later, all the supplies in nice rows standing on their bathroom cabinet, Bumlets sitting on the closed toilet seat for the moment but ready to move everywhere around Swifty who sat in the middle of the room on a chair, ordered to keep his head straight as Bumlets worked the bleach into the roots showing under the bubble-gum pink hair.

Skittery was in the room too, not wanting to separate from his boyfriends for as long as this took. For the first half hour, he was even well-behaved, letting Bumlets apply all the bleach and talking with them while they were waiting for it to work and then wash it out. It was then, when Bumlets carefully started with the first colours, that he cuddled up to his side, sitting on the floor, playing with his hand whenever he wasn’t using it to fold tinfoil up or hold strands of Swifty’s hair up.

With a sigh, Bumlets stopped and looked down at his second boyfriend, who was obviously very aware he was being a bit of a nuisance with his actions, as evident by the big brown puppy eyes he was attempting to give him. “I need both of my hands, doll, I need to make Swifty pretty.”

“As if I’m not all the time.”, Swifty interjected, moving his head to the side.

“Stay still.”

Skittery didn’t apologize, but he did go to Swifty instead, sitting next to him and leaning his head on one of his legs, prompting him to card his fingers through his hair.

Driven by mischief, Swifty scratched him behind his ears and cooed: “Aren’t you a cuddly kitty today?”

Almost instantly, Skittery distanced himself from both of them, almost at the door. “I’m not a cat-“

“Could have fooled me, angel.”, murmured Bumlets, trying to work in peace.

“There’s a reason Tumbler named your cat after you, all these years ago.”

Skittery crossed his arms and huffed, looking even more like an annoyed cat. “Leave Skittles out of this.”

“I have so many pics of you two looking exactly the same, you can’t deny-“ Swifty turned his head to look at Skittery better, and Bumlets grabbed his chin with a tut.

“I said don’t move your head.”

“It’s Skitt’s-“

“No-“

“I don’t care who’s fault it is, just sit still, please.”

Swifty sat straight again, chin up, and just moved his hands in Skittery’s direction, flexing his fingers. “I can still scratch your head. Come here, kitty kitty.”, he teased, very mindful of keeping his head where Bumlets could properly work with it.

As he knew his boyfriend well, he had expected, that it would only take a few seconds of pretending he didn’t want it until Skittery was leaning against his leg again, closing his eyes and letting his head be pat. This time he didn’t tease him, enjoying the motions too much, and especially enjoying that he got to see Skittery almost melt against him, eyes closed and breathing getting shallower as Bumlets circled around Swifty, applying the dye everywhere he needed to.

It was almost meditating, just petting his one boyfriend’s hair while the other put all his planning into a wish Swifty had asked him for weeks ago, going about it with absolute precision.

“I think I’m finished.”, Bumlets whispered to him after a long while, Skittery seeming almost asleep in his lap by now. “Wait a few more minutes and then wash it out, I already got it done a bit ago and checked if it looked right. We can only really see, after you wash it out.”

Swifty nodded. “Thank you. Always fulfilling my every wish like a true Prince Charming.” He meant it, too. Maybe he was very spoiled, getting every need fulfilled after just asking, but he loved knowing that it was treated as more than just empty words but instead carefully considered.

Sitting down in front of him again, Bumlets kissed his cheek and forehead. “Then I hope you’ll be happy by what I did, my Princess.”

More time passed in relaxed silence, but eventually, Swifty had to separate the dozing Skittery from his legs so he could wash out the dye – even if standing up while a cat was sleeping on you was a crime punishable by death, of course.

“Skitts, I need to stand up.”, he whispered, softly lifting his head, Bumlets taking it as he sat next to Skittery instead, calming him as his face scrunched up, head probably slushy from dozing off.

“It’s okay, doll, you can keep sleeping soon, we’ll just finish Swifty’s hair.” He scratched behind Skittery’s ear, taking over the duty of patting their boyfriend while Swifty ran water over his head in the bathtub.

“Don’… feels…”

“Good?”

Skittery hummed as affirmation.

Bumlets could only smile, loving to see it when Skittery was completely relaxed, not worrying about anything, anxiety eating at him, just relaxed and a bit loopy, making him feel happy to be one of the causes for it. Skittery deserved the rest, the rest of his thoughts going everywhere and nowhere, the rest of feeling restless and a slight constant panic at the back of his mind. “We can all cuddle after, hm? That sound good?”

Humming again, Skittery turned his head further into Bumlets’ neck, nuzzling into him. He took that as a yes.

Skittery is shaken awake again with a kiss on the corner of his mouth and Bumlets gently prying his head off his shoulder. “I’m sorry, I just need to help Swifty with washing and drying, I’ll be back soon.”, he promised, and Skittery rested his chin on his knees, watching the two. He didn’t quite feel awake, but everything was slowly coming back in, especially the thoughts of how glad he was to have them.

Swifty’s hair already looked gorgeous, as Bumlets towelled it off for him, then blow-drying it to give it some more volume, but the colours shone even brighter, as the hair was dry.

The only thing he could tell Swifty, when he came over afterwards, was: “You’re beautiful.”

It made his partner giggle and blush a bit, pulling him up by his arm to stand. “Thank you. Now let’s get to the living room, I heard you wanted to cuddle.”

Skittery let himself be pulled, still feeling tired, and knowing how fast he’d probably fall asleep with a blanket, a show, and their couch.

As he cleaned everything up, it took a few minutes for Bumlets to join them, and he kissed both their heads before sitting down next to Skittery, cuddling into the blanket as well. “Love my kitty and my rainbow.”, he gushes, teasing glint in his eyes.

“Love y’ too. Too sweet to me. ‘n Vin’s too pretty.”, slurred Skittery, already half asleep again.

“And I love you too. Though I think it’s Alejandro who’s too handsome.”

“I don’t hear you complaining.”

They cuddled the rest of the afternoon, drifting in and out of sleep as a series played on their TV, taking all the time in the world to be with who they loved and cherished the most.

newsies warrior cats. im insane

i'm bored and tired so i'm going to type up every single bit of world building and concepts i have for the newsies warrior cats au ive been creating so far. why have i talked more about newsies on here than like half of my interests. ive watched this once. anyway The strike is replaced with an apprentices rebellion, which means that all of the newsies are apprentices across all five clans (so they're at the lake territories at this time. This is key to the plot with WindClan) But anyway, around this time, the clans are facing a severe lack of food due to a drought, as well just general difficulties. Because of this, the warrior code is officially amended so that apprentice's eat last- and that anyone who isn't an apprentice gets to eat until full. This means that essentially the apprentices are starving, and so the adult cats have enough, leaders across the clans are being slow to promote apprentices to warriors, and appointing kits to be apprentices earlier than they should. As a result of mass starvation and illness amongst apprentices, a rebellion breaks out, starting in ThunderClan (taking the place of Manhattan newsies). The rebellion initially consists primarily of non-violent actions such as refusing to do any apprentice chores, and taking enough prey to feed the apprentices. In protest for the fact that no apprentices are becoming warriors anyone involved in the rebellion choses their own warrior name to go by. There is some escalation to violent action as more clans get involved, the warriors in the clans try and bring the apprentices back to the clan by force etc etc. The other clan cats begin to use an abandoned twoleg house as a sort of prison for some cats. Just a detail so I have somewhere for Crutchie to go that makes sense. Now, journalists. The journalists are replaced as a concept by medicine cats, a young medicine cat apprentice (taking the role of Katherine) gets a sign from StarClan that the change to the code is wrong, and all of the plot with the medicine cats is focused around her trying to get her sign listened to, and she's somewhat helped in interpreting signs by her mentor (Byran Denton. im merging the versions), but eventually gets her sign from StarClan noticed by the clans on her own merit. WindClan is the Brooklyn newsies, I don't care enough to assign any other borough to specific clans other than WindClan being brooklyn purely because theyre small. and spots small. so spots in WindClan. I considered placing Brooklyn as ShadowClan for the intimidation factor but I really hate the whole ShadowClan is intimidating thing so I'm just pretending that's not real. Also WindClan apprentices are mainly girls bc I'm bringing the brooklyn girls into this Scabbing from the strike is replaced by Jack, ive forgotten his warrior cat name I gave him so i'm just calling him Jack, leaving the clans temporarily to become a kittypet, which is where he gets the bandana I draw on his design. He's told if he ends the rebellion and goes to become a kittypet then he can take Crutchie with him, and the other cat will be able to live a better life than they are having trapped in the abandoned twoleg house or in the horrible situation in the clans. I think that's most of my thoughts. Race is a tortoiseshell cat and hes transgender bc most tortoiseshell cats are female. just making this note bc i like it and i havent been bothered to draw him yet. Crutchie is nonbinary, because of the stuff that ive heard about junior newsies where they don't have a gender specified. The StarClan cats who are communicating with the medicine cats are going to be a range of canon characters who I think are suitable. Thinking Swiftpaw, Badgerfang, and whatever the name of the cat who was involved in creating the rule of apprentices not being trained before 6 moons is (i could move and get the book to check but I can't be bothered).

@chaotic-orphan another blog I can't recommend enough, i'm literally part of the #notifcationsquad I'm obsessed with Intoxicating Fear, Vendetta, Defiant Leader x confident villain, Partners in Crime, and everything else as well, Heroic Betrayal is also my ALL TIME fav and features my one of my fav female whumpee Morgan <3 all the stories are somehow both funny and heart wrenching at the same time and I feel like I'm watching a movie every time I read them

@there-will-always-be-blood I talk about The Crow and The Dove so much but I will forever kai and kyriel are so fascinating and the world building is so good in the story and the WHUMP. UGH truly unparalleled. you know it's good characters, world, plot, and writing when I-ME wants a character to have a break and not get tortured more (well okay I also still want him to get tortured more) only thing I will mention is the story does contain nsfw stuff and pretty dark whump but everything is tagged so avoid if it's not your thing but if you're okay with it (and over 18) then I highly recommend!!!!

@defire also has a TON of writing to read, stories, prompts and general whump musings that include some whump tropes that you don't see that often. Back to The Dregs is FANTASTIC angsty and whumpy and it also maybe kinda reminds me of one of the first whump stories I ever read when I was like 11 that was a newsies modern au fan fiction so I think I'm also partial to it

@holidayinhell literally every single piece of writing is so well written and give me whumperflies (do people still say that? I rarely see it anymore, am I old now im 20 I can't be) anyway Role Reversal is so good but THE CLIFFHANGER (nsfw)

@save-the-villainous-cat has such great stuff, really anything you're in the mood for there's a piece for it particularly I love the hero villain stuff

@jumpywhumpywriterlove's Vampire Captures Vampire Hunter to Use as Bloodbag series I def recommend if you like vampires, even if you don't I'd give it a shot, also Drugged Hero Whumpee used as Party Favor at Villain's Party is great. I have to admit I haven't read her whole blog but the few series I've read are amazing and she has SO MUCH WRITING (im not gonna make a Hamilton reference I've already made a newsies reference I've embarrassed my self enough)

Newsiestober Day 18 : Bad Moon Rising

Honestly, he should have seen it coming, but with how good everything had been lately, he just hadn’t thought of it. Maybe he just didn’t want to think of it.

Bumlets slowly sat down next to Swifty on the floor in front of the bed that had become his in the last month, putting a hand on his shoulder, not sure if he’d seen him with how he was hiding his face between his pulled-up knees. “Vince? Are you okay?”

“You know what day it is.”

So not okay then. “It’s not much different from what we practiced. I know you’ll control it, and just in case something happens I can easily defend myself, we talked about this.” Bumlets kept his voice calm and steady, wanting to coax the other boy out of his defensive shell. It was only a matter of time until he had confront what would happen, and they’d trained a lot for this.

“It’s different. It forces me to transform, not just- not just like when you help me. I- last time I attacked you-“

“Last time we didn’t know each other yet. You were scared.” Bumlets slung an arm around Swifty’s shoulders to pull him close. “And you didn’t hurt me at all.”

“Just because you’re a wizard, but I didn’t know that, anyone else I would’ve hurt-“

“But you didn’t.” Finally deciding to forcefully pull his head out of the defensive position, Bumlets grabbed both of Swifty’s cheeks, looking him in the already bloodshot hazel eyes, tears threatening to run down his face. “It was your first time transforming, you were scared, you got new instincts and didn’t want to be hurt yourself. It’s not your fault and nothing happened, Vincent.”

Now exactly one moon cycle ago, Bumlets had been interrupted at his midnight-full-moon-collecting of herbs by a large wolf running through his garden, startling as he saw him and snapping in his direction, clearly confused and scared. Bumlets had tried to calm it and get closer, assuming an injury, almost getting bit if it hadn’t been for his magic shielding his skin. The problem here had been, that the wolf wasn’t just that, but a werewolf, Swifty, to be exact, after he’d turned the first time.

He’d seen it as he got closer, seen the too human eyes, felt the too strong river of thoughts running through the creature, using a weaker, non-specific spell to communicate with him at least enough to make him understand that he’d be safe here, that he could hide here until morning if he needed to.

Bumlets wasn’t sure why Swifty had agreed, he hadn’t asked, but the next morning he’d found Swifty as he was now, curled in on himself and scared, but trusting him enough to not run far away.

It was easier to explain when they could both use words properly, and he’d found that Swifty never knew he was a werewolf until that transformation, having not grown up with his biological parents, so naturally, he’d been panicked. Then he’d also apologized over and over for attacking him, no matter that nothing happened, and of course Bumlets had told him he had nothing to apologize for.

Instead he’d offered him to stay, if he wanted. As a wizard, Bumlets had ressources to help him with transformations – not to mention knowledge on things and spells to protect himself – and in the forest there wouldn’t be anyone else he could potentially injure. “There’s no one around for a few miles and I can protect myself. I can help you try to control it, if you want.”, he’d said.

And had gotten a new roommate since.

It had been nice, too nice, everything going great and them getting along well, so of course it had to go worse again, to where they were now, Swifty terrified of what he might do, even though they had trained, even practiced the transformation without the full moon – which allowed clearer thoughts and control of one’s actions.

But it only made sense Swifty was still afraid.

“Let’s go downstairs into the garden. No matter what happens, it’ll be better outside.”

Bumlets just pulled him up as Swifty nodded, holding onto his arm and wiping at his eyes. “Sorry for being a mess.”

“You have every reason to be one.” He opened the door to the back, the last rays of sunlight already having disappeared, the flowers and herbs already in the dark. “It’s not something you knew of until a month ago and it changes you, completely, you have every reason to be afraid.”

Swifty just nodded and let himself be led near the stone fence, where Bumlets stopped. “Do you want me to stay close? Or- I could hold you. I just want to help when it happens.”

As much as Swifty was still scared of what he could do, of how he could hurt Bumlets in particular, he’d feel even worse if there was only the dark, cold garden here to comfort him. “Please.”

He wasn’t sure how long he still had, how hight the full moon was, but he did his best to ignore it, head lying on Bumlets’ lap while his eyes were closed. He could feel the sensations starting, slowly, much less intense than what had happened a month ago, but not of his own volition like the last few times he’d practiced it here.

“How long?”

“Maybe half an hour at most until the highest point. Don’t resist it, all will be okay.”

He kept trying to stay calm while Bumlets pet his head, soothing words and touches all around him. It was possible that the wizard also helped with spells, but he didn’t care, just trying to not get overwhelmed, limbs twitching now, waiting for what was inevitable.

When it came, it was sudden, almost surprising, making him roll off Bumlets’ lap to the grass, not fighting what was about to change him, that would only worsen the pain and make him slip somewhere into the instincts and far away from control.

“How do you feel?”, he heard, minutes later, the sensations ebbing down, having done what they aimed, leaving him a wolf, with no way to turn back until the sun turned up again. Getting on his four feet, he looked up, seeing Bumlets much clearer now in the dark, the slight blue hinting at his magic being used shining from his eyes, but not keeping his distance from him, as dangerous as he could be.

As he couldn’t answer, he just nudged Bumlets’ hand with his head, relieved to find his head mostly clear, no panic from last month left, though the new instincts and senses overwhelmed him still.

Swifty laid his head back on Bumlets’ lap, just wanting to close his eyes to at least not have to see anything, the new sounds of the surrounding forest and smells of the garden already enough.

“I told you we’d be fine. Just get used to it in your own time, I’ll be here.”

Swifty didn’t move from his spot much the entire night, and even after finally turning back, he just fell asleep in the same position again.

newsies warrior cat. jack kelly if he was a warrior cat. i assume there's about 0 crossover between newsies and warrior cats enjoyers but i think he's silly so

anyway a little bit of info about this not at all thought out crossover - His warrior name would be Strikestorm! He chose this name himself, the name his clan uses for him is Wrenpaw - ThunderClan apprentice! All of the Manhattan newsies are in ThunderClan - The strike is essentially an "apprentice rebellion" across all of the clans. In a time of hardship the warrior code was amended so that apprentices would eat last- after all of the warriors which resulted in a lot of younger cats going unfed most days. The clans also delayed the apprentices becoming warriors so that they wouldn't have to feed more cats more frequently. - Strikestorm left the clans part way through the rebellion to become a kittypet which is where he got his bandana!

Skittles is a regal Queen who will sit upon her thrown (on Skittery's head in his hair after she ambushed him from on top of a closet) and look down upon her loyal subjects

She loves kneading everyone's hair or sitting on shoulders/heads

I realized I never posted about the Bumswiftery pets (modern au time @chaosfairy18)

Bailey is an Australian shepherded dog named Bailey and we stan him so much. Has been there since Bumlets got kicked out and Swifty got him a friend. This also makes Bumlets realize hes fallen for Swifty. Swifty may or may not have gotten Bailey because the dog had similar hair to Bumlets. Bailey is also very therapeutic to Bumlets and Flipper or anyone in general.

Skittles is a fluffy longhair cat who is Skitterys and has been there since he was 12 (his mom got him her after they got away from their horrible dad) and has helped Skittery through way too much. Helps Skittery calm down and is very cuddly. Everyone also loves Skittles and loves to give her pets. She loves to cuddle with Skittery and Tumbler just wants them to feel safe and happy. Swifty and Bumlets almost died of laughter when they saw Skittles because she acts and kinda looks like Skittery (skittery just always frowns at them when they do it, but loves them still)
