my car battery died on Tuesday morning, and despite being a member of AAA, it has taken until 4pm Friday to get my battery replaced.
Tuesday: called AAA, they sent a tow truck who could jump my battery, but by the time they got to me, the Honda dealership was closed, so the jump was wasted and so was my time and the tow guy's time.
Wednesday: followed up with AAA, they said "we'll send a tow truck" and i said "could you send a guy with a battery? i don't need a tow; i need a new battery." so AAA said "we'll call around" (the lie detector determined that was a lie.)
Thursday: called AAA again, and they said "there's a tow company that stocks batteries, but they don't get a shipment until 2pm. we'll call you when we confirm they have your battery." reader, they did not call.
Friday morning: AAA sends a different guy to jump my car (which is not what i'm asking for), he does not have the battery. HOWEVER, he has the same model car I have and says "the only people who have this kind of battery are Honda dealers. get the battery and then i can install it." so I called Honda to ask if they have this battery, they say "we've got 4 of them". excellent. my mom drives me to the Honda place (22 miles away), we pay beaucoup dollars and buy a silly little battery and then go home. Call AAA again to say "send the guy who was here earlier" and AAA said, "we have to make a new ticket and you'll get whatever company answers the call first" and i tell them "no you have to send the guy who was here earlier because this is not a new problem, this is the problem i've had since TUESDAY and you have to send the guy who was already here." (look away, dear reader, this is the part where i cried on the phone because it's been a fucking runaround for 3 days and it's getting closer to Quittin' Time On A Friday Afternoon) so after more rigamarole, they agree to send the previous guy. AAA tells me that they don't install batteries though. "Okay", i lie, "can you send that guy back here to jump my car" and AAA says "oh yeah! we can definitely send that guy to jump your car" so the guy comes back and he installs my battery and it takes him less than 3 minutes.
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MY SANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why doesn't AAA contract with car dealerships?? Who else is gonna have the correct battery??? what do you mean "we don't install batteries" ???? i pay AAA for "roadside service" which i thought would include basic things like "replacing car battery" ?????
