Photoshoot Preparation

Where and when: I knew I needed to use the photo studio at AUT for my photoshoot, so I booked the studio for Friday, the 5th, from 2 to 4 p.m. Due to schedule conflicts and the stress of my other classes, this time would only work for my model and me. From this, I will treat this photoshoot as a trial run from only a few ideas, maybe max 3 concept images. In the future, I would like to book a time at the photography studio for a minimum of 3 hours to experiment and work out the technical aspects of my photoshoot without rushing.

From 2 to 2:30 p.m., I will learn and figure out the requirements for my image ideas, and from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m., I will use my model and begin trialling images.

Equipment list:

Lighting: Based on my mood board, I looked on Loan Central and then went in person to discuss what equipment would best suit my vision. The lady suggested an LC LED RGB -800D-II Video Light Kit, which allows me to manipulate the temperature and brightness of Light within the kit.

The kit Includes 3 x RGB adjustable colour and dual temp range 3200k-5600k, 3 x Light stands, and 3 x power cables.

It will be amazing to try different colour styles, and having three adjustable lights will allow me to test out contrast and brightness within the shoot. I've looked at some colour layouts and am pretty excited to try some.

Cameras: I booked the Studio Canon 5DsR Camera Kit—1, but I will also bring my Nikon camera fully charged to achieve my behind-the-scenes image and an SD card, just in case.

Resources and Asset management

Equipment: Canon C100- This is a cinema camera which takes high quality video which it is purpose built for video and looks better and is more professional than a DSLR canon 800D.

Rode NTG2- This is a shotgun microphone which will be used to capture audio as it is plugged straight into the Canon C100 and records audio straight on the video.

XLR cable- The XLR cable connects the to the camera allowing audio to be recorded.

18-55 mm lens- The lens goes on the camera. This particular lens is good for having a wide range of different shots as it has a high range of capabilities.

Manfrotto small tripod- This allows us to achieve a stable video as well as good panning and tilting capabilities for smooth video.

Video storage: for the most part The video will be stored on my home PC so that I can edit it at home and save myself time as well as it reduces the risk of file corruption over the cloud. I will edit in davinci resolve as it is freeware and high standard similar to premiere pro
