Spent a lovely day yesterday exploring the @canerivercreolenps and @caneriver_nha area. The deep and layered stories of the region are plentiful, meaningful, and very much alive.⠀ ⠀ This building is from one of the two plantation sites in the park, Magnolia plantation, Which is considered one of the most intact 19th century plantation sites in the country. Magnolia plantation preserves not only the story and land, but an almost complete array of outbuildings and period technology. It is also a stop on the Louisiana African-American Heritage Trail.⠀ ⠀ 📍: Cane River Creole National Historical Park⠀ 📅 : February 2019⠀ ⠀ #nationalparkgeek #IBrakeForBrownSigns #getolympus⠀#canerivercreole (at Cane River Creole National Historical Park) https://www.instagram.com/nationalparkpatchlady/p/BuYu73bgBy3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=a7yznbhoul91

‘Cane River’ a film lost for 40-years. Based on stories from an area/region in Louisiana. A Romeo and Juliet story, where the two come from different classes judged thru an American Black cast system. The Film Review talks the trailer, and anticipates the re-release of the movie in theaters during Black History Month. BHM because this film was originally funded by an all-Black film funding foundation, in 1982, which included Richard Pryor; it all fell apart when Horace Jenkins, writer and director of the film, passed of a heart attack. #tfrreporting #canerivercreole (at Las Vegas, Nevada) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7quKiwBTyl/?igshid=604jj1zlf1yr
