✦ PAC : ONCE UPON A FAIRYTALE
which romance trope do you and your fs belong to?
like & rb if resonates i'm a beginner in tarot so please take everything with a grain of salt it is a general reading so only take what resonates
WARNING: a bit of nsfw in pile 1, nothing too explicit
🔥 | pile one!
THE TROPE : ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS / RIVALS
if you got this pile, goddamn, i shall say the sexual tension is high af. this trope isn't necessarily how you'll feel about your fs but it is for the small percentage of people out there. as for the others, it is merely small rivalry, not anything major. or maybe you both meet through or during some kind of competition. even a school test, yes.
you both are so bound by your duties/work and have a want to do the best. this is exactly the trait that will bring you both together. there will be ups and downs due to either/both of you being stubborn and sticking to your own plans. communication is definitely necessary and so is understanding. high possibility that you two might also break up because of this huge ego problem that either of you might have in order to rekindle.
as for the bond between you two, let's just say you both are willing to devour each other. i'm not kidding. interpreting the shufflemancy messages really said "i want you, but i can't admit that because i have a huge ego." like they want you so bad, it's not funny (and so do you). even during the small squabbles lies this high need of just riling each other to see if you both end on the bed or not-
SONGS CHANNELLED FOR THE TROPE:
🌟 | pile two!
THE TROPE : SOULMATES
whole. some. that's it. this is something the majority of this pile would be with their fs. for some of you, twin flames too. but this pile is beautiful because you would feel that your fs/ you is/are a shooting star, fulfilling the wish to be loved, genuinely.
it feels like everything was planned from the start and you both wouldn't regret it. either of you might have been going through a whole ass storm in life before an umbrella magically appears. this storm is meant to be a trial to build a strong foundation together in order to face it head on.
as for the bond, it's really sweet and warm. it's like those indie romance movies where just a glance between the leads would send a warm tingle in your body. you both are so supportive of each other and make sure to take care of each other. it feels like spending time near the fire on a cold evening. my favourite pile <333
SONGS CHANNELED FOR THE TROPE :
💓 | pile three!
THE TROPE : BLIND DATE / LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
a new beginning, and a perfect one at that hmm? that's the perfect trope for you and fs, pile 3. getting over an ex probably seems a major theme here, or just getting over something and starting something new and exciting. it screams "right person at the right moment"
the best part is right off the bat, sparks fly high and it feels more than a crush even if you've known the person for a single day/date. not to mention, the majority of your fs's are charming, their personality makes you dive down a deep hole, damn. but being rational is necessary and taking everything slow seems to be the best option, otherwise the hole might suck either of you to darkness.
as for the bond, you both might be a bit secretive but it's honestly better this way. you both are willing to listen to each other's opinion and make sure to encourage each other. can't really pick much up since both of you like to keep your private life a secret. but nonetheless, you both are adorable <3

I watched the live action One Piece because of you and your excitement over it and I really loved it, so thank you! Wondering if you have suggestions of where to go next? Read the manga or watch the anime? It honestly seems a bit overwhelming, so not sure where to start.
That's awesome! I love inspiring people to try One Piece, it's a really fun ride! It's always great seeing new fans coming in to enjoy the series! 🤗
I wanted to be as informative and thorough as I could for anyone wondering about this, so this might be long, but I'll provide a summarized version to start then include the long version under a readmore if you want more info in order to decide. Sorry if it gets a bit rambling lol.
So the answer to the "anime or manga" question is not necessarily complicated, but it is a little more nuanced than some fans will lead you to believe (a lot of manga-only elitists have a hate boner for the anime to a degree that imo isn't warranted) . There are a few major factors.
Summarized version:
1) this one's obvious, but bears saying; if you prefer manga, go with the manga, if you prefer anime, go with the anime. If you like both, go with both, unless you only want to consume one. Some people tend to gravitate towards one over another, and that's fine.
2) if you're interested in consuming both, I recommend starting with the anime, then going to the manga after, to avoid tainting your experience with the anime by comparing it to the manga all the time. If you only want to consume one, stick to the manga, because it is the better version. If you're on the fence or haven't decided yet, start with the manga then decide if you want to also try the anime later.
3) if you want to consume the anime, then determine how much of the original experience you want to be retained. There's not many filler episodes, but they do exist, and there are watch lists that explain which episodes to skip if you don't want to watch them. Otherwise obviously the manga is the true original and is the best version of the story. The anime isn't terrible, I still enjoy it, but it does have its flaws compared to the manga. That said, it does also have some benefits you can't get from the manga such as the top notch voice acting (at least in Japanese) and incredible soundtrack. Also the animation in Wano has been sending One Piece fans to the emergency room with priapism lately so do with that what you will.
4) determine how much time you're willing to invest. The manga is going to be the fastest way to consume the series, but there is a fan edited version of the anime that speeds up the pacing to match the manga, and thus takes a lot less time to catch up on. You can also read the manga then look up your favourite scenes in the anime as a supplement without investing into watching the whole anime, either shorter or longer version. The only thing to keep in mind is don't ever skip any canon arcs, you WILL regret it later. Oda never forgets.
Where to watch/read:
If you want help finding a good place to read or watch the series, for free or otherwise, let me know and I can provide some links! I can also provide recommendations for which movies to watch and when if anyone is interested in those, or even just OP fanfic recs if there's a market for that lol.
Now, for:
The long version (oh god I'm so sorry this got so long I am incapable of talking about this topic succinctly):
1) what type of media do you prefer and have an easier time consuming? Comic or animation?
I have an anime only friend who struggles with reading comics for some reason (he can read books just fine, but he struggles with comics and he doesn't know why), but he loves the anime, and is even currently rewatching it so we can catch up on watching Wano together since that arc is ending soon and we like to wait and binge entire arcs instead of watching weekly. If you prefer one over another, then whichever that is, is fine fine to go with. If you don't have a preference, then your next factor is:
2) do you want to only consume one, or are you open to consuming both?
I read the manga and watch the anime. I get a slightly different experience from both, I prefer the art and pacing of the manga, but I love the voice acting and music of the anime, and some moments just hit harder for me in the anime. I haven't cried very often reading the manga, but I have cried quite a bit more watching the anime when seeing the same scenes, like full on sobbing at some points ngl. It's not that I think the moments are done better in the anime or that they're not just as sad, but I have an easier time crying when seeing something in motion with sound for some reason. I rarely ever cry when reading books or comics. It happens, but not as easily or as often. Also while the animation throughout most of the series is middling (not bad but not amazing) for most of the series, aside from major fights, the most recent arcs have seen a huge upgrade in regards to the animation, WCI to some extent but especially Wano. The animators have just been going HAM on the animation during Wano. Like, it's all but impossible to find good examples without spoilers because of just, how many spoilers there are at that point in the story, but I'll at least show Luffy being pretty lol:
That said, the anime isn't without its flaws, but I'll get to that in a bit.
If you do want to consume both, then personally I recommend watching the anime first. I find people who read the manga first are more prone to comparing everything in the anime to the manga and wanting things to fit 1:1, which I think puts the anime at a disadvantage and makes people a bit more hypercritical of it. But ultimately this is up to you. Maybe you don't know yet if you'll try both, in which case the manga is probably better because it's the version that, by its nature, is the best version, and will give you the original experience, and you can decide later whether you want to supplement that with the anime as well.
If you only want to consume 1, at least mainly, then the next factor is:
3) How much of the original experience do you want to stick to?
The One Piece anime doesn't have nearly as many filler arcs/episodes as other long running shounens have had in the past, and past Enies Lobby there's almost no filler arcs whatsoever, aside from the rare 2-5 episode arcs, usually ones that advertise the movies that came out not long after they aired. But there are some full filler arcs earlier in the anime, and the general consensus is that most are pretty meh. Not horrid, but nothing special, and many of them ended up accidentally contradicting canon when new information about the world or certain in-world systems came out later. There are watch guides for skipping these widely available, and most OP fans do recommend watching the G8 filler arc because it's viewed as the only one that is on par with, or at least close to, canon content. I enjoy it myself as well personally.
That said, one of my biggest gripes about the anime, especially after sabaody up until Wano, is how it takes Odas more mild level of sexualization in comparison and dials it up to 1000. At its worst it has taken scenes where a female character is introduced with a full body shot and a name/title card in the manga, and turned it into a scene where the camera zooms in on her boobs, thighs, waist, butt, and then slowly pans up her body starting from the feet, including boi-oing noises or weird many sound effects with each zoom in shot. It also increased the boobs sizes and decreased the waist sizes constantly, put a lot more effort and attention into boobs jiggles than was necessary, and at least one point they even blatantly zoomed in on Nami's boobs bouncing isolated on the screen while she was running for absolutely NO reason. Oda doesn't do this in the manga. He doesn't introduce women in bits and pieces focusing on their body parts in an oggling manner, he doesn't put their boobs front and centre unless it's maybe by accident because of necessary framing. Even when he has sexy shots of women, they're usually full body shots that also even manage to serve as establishing shots most of the time. I also often get the feeling that a lot of it is also him being aware of his target audience in Japan, which is teenage boys. You can see a lot of how his approach adjusted when he has a different audience in mind in the Live action, not only regarding stuff like diversity (which WAS present in the original, their real life equivalent ethnicities have been said to be diverse for a long time, but Oda himself, as much as I love him, only has one skin tone marker in his whole house apparently and he uses it for every single character in colourspreads and covers, including the characters that are supposed to be black, and the anime isn't much better on that front, so it's nice to really see the proof of the diversity visually in the live action in a way that doesn't come across as clearly in the anime or manga), but also in regards to adjusting shounen tropes to better fit a live action setting. You can see in a lot of his SBS answers that he takes his target audience and what he wanted to see as a young boy into account a lot even if he might otherwise explore different tropes or depictions or structures in a different medium or genre.
BUT the anime does have its flaws. I won't pretend that Oda doesn't draw his female characters sexier as the series goes on, and while he also does with the men (Zoro canonically has the biggest bust size on the crew according to Oda lmao) it's not to the same degree as the women. This is especially concentrated around Nami, possibly because Oda's wife is a Nami cosplayer and iirc he met her while she was cosplaying Nami. It's the most overt in certain later arcs, but not too present in earlier arcs up to, say, Sabaody. But, while he does draw the women sexier, he's not... Idk the right terminology to use but he doesn't employ an oggling pov towards the women very often. Not never, but compared to the manga you relatively rarely get much particular purposeful focus on body parts like boobs or ass, there's also never any panty shots (seriously, not a single one in the entire series). That's not so say that the series is always perfect in this sense, but rather that's to compare it to the anime. And while there are some things One Piece doesn't do perfectly sometimes, there are also a lot of things it definitely gets right about how the women are written as complex multifaceted people with conflicts and motivations just as deep and diverse and complicated as the men. They mostly just look extra seggsy sometimes, at least the main ones do. And YMMV, but personally I'm okay with some sexiness, so long as it doesn't compromise the characters story and personality and doesn't go overboard to the point of being softcore porn, which Oda doesn't do in the manga. And I also don't like how often criticism of sexiness turns into shaming any clothing that shows more skin. There's a difference between disliking fanservice and going full conservative prude.
Now from what I've seen this has gotten significantly better in Wano in the anime, probably because Oda himself purposefully played down even his own horniness during Wano because of the focus on traditional Japanese aesthetics and dress. Idk if it will get bad again after Wano, but a lot has changed regarding the way the anime is animated and directed since the last time it was bad, so hopefully not. But this can be a significant barrier to the anime for some people. If that's the case, then I definitely recommend the manga. It's the original, and in comparison it is practically chaste. It's not prevalent throughout the entire anime, it's mostly bad for the stretch from Fishman Island to the end of WCI, which consists of 3 big arcs and 2 smaller in-between arcs, but improves significantly in Wano, and isn't too bad in arcs before Fishman Island. Still more egregious than the manga, but not to the same degree. So it's possible you can tolerate it for that stretch since there are still lots of good moments in the anime in these arcs too. Though I'll note that there's quite a bit of censorship in the anime compared to the manga, Zeff eating his own leg for example, while included in the live action, was not included in the anime. Instead he lost it when it got caught in some ship debris while he was rescuing Sanji from drowning. Stuff like gore and blood are also tones down a lot. The live action honestly isn't any more gory than the manga is, even at the beginning. There's even less blood in the live action, the wound Zoro got from Mihawk was nastayyyy in the manga. Bro nearly got bisected fr.
Though I will say that I think one thing that helps make the more sexualized aspects of the series feel more balanced and a lot less center stage is that Luffy himself, the main character, is completely and totally 1000% gender blind. He's not blind to stuff like masculinity or femininity, but he's blind to whether masculinity or femininity is something that is only applicable to men or women. He likes plenty of manly things, there's a gag about him not wanting frills on his shirt because he doesn't think they're manly and he doesn't like that, but he doesn't think that it makes a man less of a man if he wears a frilly shirt, and he's not opposed to wearing other clothes that might be more feminine coded like his fuckin cute li'l dress thing in Egghead, or the literal dress he wears proudly for all of 3 seconds in Film Gold lmao. There are plenty of men in the series who wear frilly shirts. There are also men who wear makeup, wear pink, crossdress, etc. Luffy could not give less of a shit what men, or women, wear. He does not discriminate between women and men in how he treats them in any way shape or form, his awareness of gender expression is limited entirely in how he personally expresses *his* idea of *his* gender. If a woman pisses him off he'll beat them up just as easily as he will a dude. If a trans man says they identify as a man, he'll refer to them as a man, even if they have a more feminine appearance, and vice versa. He does not blink an eye at non-binary/genderfluid/queer characters, etc. That's one of my favourite things about his character, in part because I'm aroace and identify with him and his gender blindness a lot (among other things, he is an aroace icon for a reason lmao), but also because it's nice to have a 100% gender blind character as the main pov throughout the series.
Then there's the final factor, which is
4) How much time are you willing to spend?
The anime is undoubtedly the longer time investment. Which can be good or bad depending on your view. I know when I caught up sometime after episode 505, I was devastated at not having any more episodes to watch. I started out thinking "this will take me forever and I probably won't finish it", then shifted to "damn those 100 episodes went by fast, but that's okay, I still have 400 episodes left" to "200 episodes already? Well I'm not even halfway yet, that's fine" to "300... Oh God I'm already more than halfway" to "400!? Where are they all going?? Why aren't there more?!?" to "well I HAVE to read the manga now because I can't stand to wait for the episodes to come out weekly" then I banged out the rest of the series in the manga in a few days like I was a drug addict trying to hide my stash from the police by snorting it all at once. So to some, the length can be a blessing rather than a curse lmao. But if you are worried about length, the manga is a lot easier to go through without taking months and months to catch up, unless you take your time reading it. There is a fan edited version of the anime called One Pace, which takes out all the filler and adjusts the pacing to be closer to the manga, which might also be an option if you want to watch the anime but still want a less exhaustive itinerary to watch. They. Might even edit out a bunch of the excess sexual shots and editing in the anime though I haven't watched it myself to determine that. The main issue is that One Pace hasn't completed every single arc, but it is an option for watching the arcs it does have. I know Dressrosa is one of the longest arcs and might benefit from some trimming. I also recommend, if you choose the anime, to watch episodes in batches rather than weekly. While the pacing of the manga is quite a bit faster, so it lends itself to weekly updates better, the anime does suffer from being watched weekly. I've always binged arcs all together and I find that improves the experience a lot.
Aside from that, you can also always just read the manga then only look up and watch particular scenes you wanna see in the anime to get the experience with the voice acting and music and animation, without having to invest as much extra time into it. I may not be a dedicated anime hater, but I do agree that the manga is undoubtedly superior to it as a whole, so while I don't think there's anything wrong with being anime only, if you are open to both, but only want to choose one to consume, it's the manga all the way. You only have to start at chapter 1 and go from there. Or episode 1 for the anime.
I hope this helped, and wasn't too confusing or overwhelming. I know how daunting the series can be to get into so I wanted to try and be comprehensive and objective, and provide some approachable options for people new to the series by explaining some pros and cons of each approach.

shigegou for the ship game! convert me!
CRACKS KNUCKLES. MY TIME HAS COME
shigegou: ship it!
(side note: i still think i've gotta get serious about using splitdecisionshipping for them until it sticks, lmao)
what made you ship it?
actually this is one of those cases of i shipped them by proxy for ot3 purposes. i liked their dynamic but when i watched jn initially i hadn't yet done my os rewatch and i was actually pretty normal about gary oak (as a kid he wasn't really a big fave or anything and i hadn't actively watched anything but the pokemon movies since middle school so). they definitely gave that same vibe as os pallet though like the "i have a crush on you i can't deal with" so i think i liked that dynamic :p
what are your favourite things about the ship?
ok so now fast forward to the great anipoke rewatch/watch (since i'd never seen the later gens before) of 2023. i got really unwell about gary. DJFGHJFKDDFHJDK but i'd been unwell about goh from when i watched jn the year before so it was...not difficult to begin drawing parallels. i think a lot of people point out how similar the shigegou dynamic is to the early shigesato dynamic and like. that's true and valid! but as individual characters, gary and goh have so much in common. gary's whole schtick is that he travels alone. he doesn't wait around for ash to catch up to him, necessarily. he has his own ideas of what he should be doing and how he should be doing it and mr "i've already got ten badges" here sure as hell isn't a slacker when it comes to proving how Awesome and Capable he is. we never, not once, see gary working as a team with anyone until pokemon chronicles (power play is something else to me. to be clear). by his own admission in jn, he wasn't much of a team player and that's a big part of why he pushed goh so hard about teamwork and collaboration (ok. he doesn't say this so much as goh kinda figures it out and gary doesn't actively deny it. but we the viewers who have known gary oak since 1997 know enough to say yeah he kinda sucked and put people down for his own sake, this tracks). they're both very goal-oriented but in a different way than ash is. i think where ash sees other people are like, a source of insight and inspiration, gary and goh both tend to see them as obstacles (ironically, ash is the first person they each didn't see this way)
also, they both have an interest in like. catching and researching pokemon. gary obviously likes battling too, but in i think showdown at the poke-corral, oak says that gary has caught over 200 pokemon. but he also cares deeply about them all (in jp he often calls his mons some variation of "partner," "honey," "sweetie" and we see him rotate his pokemon a lot - he doesn't have just one team, he switches them out a lot!). goh has a bit of a different approach, yes, but fundamentally i think the interest comes from the same place. and there is no doubt that they both care about their pokemon.
so like. i think those qualities are probably things gary sees, but even more than that, i think he sees a lot of his own worst qualities in goh: arrogant, self-absorbed, putting himself in a position where he is so afraid of people letting him down (though in gary's case, i think this is actually more being of afraid of letting other people down than the reverse) that he doesn't even try to do things that would make him happy or necessarily improve his capabilities as a trainer/research/person in general. but more to the afraid of letting people down point...i think it seems likely that initially gary sees goh as overcompensating for a fear of failure, like he does. but that's not exacty the case with goh, and through more work together it would become a lot more apparent that his issue is actually that he doesn't trust anyone but himself (and ash, by the time they meet - but even then, there are a lot of moments that suggest that trust is tenuous at the best of times). and i think gary would see that as a challenge, too. so idk i'm rambling here but there are just a lot of directions i think you could take with them that are super interesting. gary's position as being, like, an aleady fully-developed character who had to have his big moments of upset, etc. by the time he meets goh make it interesting. lots of opportunity to delve into their parallels and approach them as two people who actually fundamentally make each other better - goh by encouraging gary's own self-awareness and empathy, and gary by pointing out all the flaws in goh's logic because he used to think the same way.
is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
it's like me and 4 other people brain rotting (actually went into the tag the other day out of curiosity and discovered that even though they have over 50 fics on ao3, only 4 aren't a polyamorous or side ship kind of deal so. Yeah) so i don't think there are even any unpopular opinions to be had except maybe that it's a good dynamic and they deserve more love </3
send me a ship!
#answered#jaystrifes#if this wasn't successful in converting you i can keep going i can get more serious#i can start pulling out screenshots and clips from the anime. just say the word. ashjdfgjhdkghjk#shigegou#splitdecisionshipping

Grading every Peter Lorre character from a movie I've seen on a scale of 1-10 part 2
•Roderick Roskolnikov-Crime and Punishment(1935)
Naturally, it's nice getting to see Peter play a leading man. It's a shame he didn't get to play such characters more as we really feel for Roderick with his guilt, fear of getting caught, his feelings for Sonya, his protectiveness over her and his family and of course, his lack of faith in humanity. The scene that sticks out to me the most is when he falls to his knees infront of his mother and she tells the story about the kitten he nursed back to health as a child. Partially because it mirrors the scene where he does the same thing to Sonya, but also because I find is striking how the story contrasts with Roderick as we see him in the film. And I'm not even necessarily talking about how he killed someone at that point. He just seems like such a broken man and its both heartbreaking to think of him as once being such an innocent and sensitive child, yet also believable, giving how hard he tries to take care of his loved ones. Not to mention, that scene where he takes care of his sisters creepy, dickhead suitor is nothing short of iconic
6/10 I'm starting to feel guilty for how low I'm rating such complex characters, but the heart wants want it wants
•The Hairless Mexican-The secret agent(1936)
The general is a fun character. Definitely the most enjoyable thing about his movie, although that's nothing you can't say about any Peter Lorre character. Still, THM has some great qualities of his own. His unique fashion, all of the images of him with the dog, him being called a lady killer and replying "not just ladies" and my personal favourite moment, when he makes his lady friend do that shrill squeal and then mimics it. Idk why, but that moment just tickles me. If there's one thing that sours me to this funky guy, it's the fact that images of him and Joel Cairo sometimes get mistakingly used interchangeably. Not saying thats a flaw with the character or his film obviously, just grinds my gears and this seems like as good a place as any to whine about it. 5/10
•Colonel Gimpy/Baron Rudolph Maximilian Taggar-Crack-up(1936)
The thing I love most about Gimpy is that he allows Peter to play both a funny, adorable, seemingly innocent nitwit and a suave, cunning criminal mastermind in one film. Sure, there are other characters Peter plays who have elements of both types of characters-such as Cairo, whos attempts to seem like a capable, respectable businessman are undermined by how others treat him aswell as his frequent temper tantrums or Polo who's a good natured, sensitive dope who's capable enough at tricking people to keep performing the same scam with Tanya and Andre, but even when playing a part is still a sensitive, chipper klutz. However, unlike those two, who's true personalities show through their acts, nothing of Baron Tagger is visible to people who only know Gimpy, the harmless eccentric with the trumpet. His act is so convincing he can admit to shooting a man seconds before that man's death is announced on the radio and because Gimpy is obviously a harmless eccentric, the whole thing will be brushed of as an eerie coincidence
7/10. I'm gonna be saying this a lot, but Peter was too good for this flick
#peter lorre#the secret agent#the hairless mexican#crack-up#yknow i had it in my head that the first one of these would be an exception and most of tgese would be short#but fuck it this is fun#grade#roderick raskolnikov#crime and punishment#how the hell am i only now noticing i never even tagged the first character and film intil now???#i guess while this was still incomplete in my drafts i started putting the tags in#realised i had no clue how to spell rodericks name#thought 'oh ill add that in right before i post it no worries'#and then just forgot to#i did have the first 3 or so entries completed in my drafts before i posted part 1 juat to make sure i didnt have them all too far apart#which i think i eluded to a bit whenever i explained what happened to part 3#Barron Rudolph Maximillian Tagger

🍂 and 🥀 for the oc ask game :D
🍂 Does your OC enjoy hugs? What do they do as a show of affection for: their friends, their family, their significant other(s) or for strangers? Over all what are they like with recieving affection from others?
🥀 How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?
🍂 — I answered this here! Short version? Hugs are one of her favourite things :)
🥀 — Oooh, how fun! She would probably litter it with doodles, whether in the margins, between lines, or on sticky notes she staples to the page. She emphasizes words or sections with boldened lines, different colours, highlights, circles, etc. — whatever she feels fits the particular tone she's aiming for. She'd keep the colours she uses aesthetic, too. For each entry, she would have a certain selection or range of colors she would stick to, so everything looks nice.
The exception would be if she ever recorded something negative or emotionally turbulent. In that case, she'd either use one pen the whole time, or clashing colors to represent how she feels. She's the type of artist who will sometimes doodle nonsense on an entire page to let out emotional energy — sharp, angry lines; loose, mindless scribbles; and so on...
But, from a realistic standpoint, she's not good at consistent journalism. So, she'd probably only ever record significant things in a journal, with some pages of random thoughts sprinkled in for whenever she happened to have the journal nearby and felt like recording the thought.
Squirrel also would definitely have moments of feeling awkward at the start of her entries, before her thoughts roll into motion and things smooth over. Other times, when she's so full of energy, it doesn't even occur to her to feel awkward about writing out her feelings lmao.
Oh, yeah, speaking of writing out her feelings, this could definitely be a place where she could think through things. She does write poetry, but has a specific notebook(s) for that. Sometimes her poetry just turns into talking to the page.
Anyways~
She probably has movie tickets or old receipts from a significant visit to even a place as common as a chain fast-food restaurant — because that was the first time she drove a friend somewhere, or something like that. A lot of seemingly insignificant items that hold sentimental value in her mind. And these particular entries aren't necessarily in chronological order! For the most part, she groups them by event or season, but there's a freedom to not having to stress herself about the particular dates.*
As for an example entry... Well, here's one (off the top of my head :P) from their post-AE vacation :) I imagine she did a lot more journaling (digitally, too, including plenty of photos) than usual during those months!

I saw the DVD commentary ask, and i'd like to ask about this part from the "we’re on a road to nowhere, would you like to come along" fic. Something about it just really hurts (in a good way). How Bo sometimes does stick up for his brother in such a major way. idk. This part in particular had me in all sorts of feels:
"Their parents wouldn’t let him anywhere near their car, wouldn’t let him take drivers ed classes at school, told him it was too dangerous for him to drive when he was half blind. That, of course, was probably true, but it didn’t stop Bo driving them far enough from the house that they could practice unseen.
“A man needs to know how to get around on his own,” Bo insisted, hopping out of the truck when they were far enough away from the house. He walked around to the passengers side and opened the door, shooing Vince across to the drivers seat.
Tentatively, Vincent moved over, keeping his hands away from anything that seemed important.
Bo jumped back in the truck, with Vincent eyeing him warily.
Are you sure about this? Vincent asks. As much as he resented his parents not allowing him to learn like Bo did, there was a deep worry in his chest that perhaps they were right, and they’d be proven right by him totalling Bo’s truck in an irrigation ditch.
“You ain’t backing out of this one, Vince. You gotta learn, can’t have you bein’ the only kid at school who can’t drive, even the goddamn Johnson boy takes driver ed and he’s been in junior year as long as Ah’ve known him,” he says firmly. He doesn’t wait for Vincent’s response before beginning to explain which peddle was which and pointing out the blinker and gear shift and parking brake."
thank you for sending an ask !! gives me the perfect reason to talk about my favourites and i will never turn that down. and this did turn into a long one below the cut.
just for context, i talk about this a lot but i find it so interesting so it's happening again: bo needs vincent more than vincent needs bo.
bo can be an asshole. he can be selfish and mean and controlling. he's like this because i honestly think he's scared to be on his own and he needs vincent to stay with him, no matter what. their conversation in the movie is very much bo on the defensive, he's scared and hurt and he lashes out because he doesn't know what else to do. and tbh, he knows vincent can take it.
in we're on the road to nowhere, they're relaxed. they're still kids, 17 years old and they're probably each others best friend. they grew up in an environment that was hostile at worst, tense at best and despite the competition that was fostered between them by trudy's favouritism, their behaviour in the movie makes me think they were still very much in a " us vs. everyone else" mindset.
bo, i think, doesn't have very good social skills, but he is very good at pretending he does, based on his environment ( @/aggravatetheaxe has talked about bo masking by mirroring the people around him, which i totally agree with). other people know how to drive, bo knows how to drive, so vincent needs to know how to drive. bo wants to be able to do what everyone else does (to an extent, that is how he survives out in the world, by copying) so it only makes sense that vincent be able to do the same. bo has a lot of guilt, he disappoints his parents enough but by 17 i think he's happy to disappoint them a bit more if it means helping vince.
fic commentary:
okay so like i said, bo and vincent very much think of the world as an "us vs. them" situation. they stick together no matter what. breaking the rules to teach vince how to drive is the least of their worries
i dont think bo is super comfortable driving either but he makes do because now he has his permit he's taken over driving him and vincent to school and tbh just keeping them out of the house for as long as possible every day
vincent is pissed at his parents because he's 17 and can't drive but he also doesnt want to go against what they've said necessarily. he survives by being trudy's favourite, he isnt totally up for doing something which could compromise that.
apparently, if someone is born with monocular vision (vision in only one eye) they adapt very well, and their depth perception, although not as good as someone with full vision, isn't too badly compromised because they've never known anything else.
legally, vincent would still be allowed to drive if he passes all the examinations
but i have a feeling the sinclairs wouldnt want anything to happen to him, so deprive him of it in "best interest"
even as adults i genuinely believe bo and vincent see the other as their best friend
i find it very interesting to think about who bo and vincent were before what we see in the movie. at this point in my hc timeline, they're still just kids and they talk and act like 17 year olds.
bo cares for vincent in the best way he can, by trying to provide him with the things you "need" to pass through society without incident. he really does. i think because he sees it as though they are one person who is split in two, he got the looks and vincent got the brains, they had an equal distribution attributes between them
bo feels a sense of responsibility towards vincent, even if he doesnt often manage to fulfil the caretaker role
when he does though, it is with mundane or even trivial things because its easier than doing grand gestures
he has the pretence of not wanting vincent to "look stupid" so he has to learn to drive, but i think it kind of symbolises more to bo than that. if vincent can drive, he's self sufficient (obviously it takes more than that but when you're 17, all you want to do is drive far away) and they can dream about moving far away from ambrose. though bo never brings this up.
by this point they are becoming more independent anyway so i think they both like having time away from the house to just like, be normal
when its just the two of them they dont feel the pressure of living up to other peoples expectations and tbh they're the only people they fully let themselves be natural around
i wish i'd developed this scene a little more just because i am bad at dialogue and i feel i gloss over scenes to quickly because i cant find the right dialogue.
thank you again for sending an ask, i genuinely love talking about their dynamic because their are so many facets to explore and so many angles to come at it from. i do go a bit soft on it usually, but i do in my heart believe that they have an understanding, even if they never talk about it out loud. thanks again for being interested enough in my work, knowing that it hits even a little bit hard ?? i will pass away now (positive) 💖
#ask#bo sinclair#vincent sinclair#house of wax 2005#bo needs vincent more than vincent needs bo#ahh ill take any excuse to talk about the terrible twins#i really liked this fic i'll be honest#i got so weirdly attached to the vincent driving debate that i had to write something#and bo teaching vincent to drive is a hc you'll have to pry from my cold dead hands#bo is an asshole sometimes but i without a doubt think he needs vincent to stay with him#which is why he does act like an asshole sometimes because vincent can take it#tldr; bo sees driving as this symbol of freedom for him and vince and he is determined to do something for vincent#almost as a thanks for staying with him through everything#they could easily be pitted against each other by their mom but vincent hasnt abandoned him yet#now im thinking about it more maybe bo sees it as a test#if vincent gains another skill. a sense of independence. he could leave#but bo knows (hopes) he wont#rereading this i realise i have repeated so much stuff#oh well enjoy my thoughts

Word: Test
Sure!! Okay i'm assuming u mean 'test' as the title lol!
Test:
tbh the first thing that comes to mind is my EM academic rivals AU 😂 but that's no fun since that's already a thing so I feel like it'd probably be some kind of game or like an actual test they're both working towards. Maybe a more serious dystopian survival kinda test, i'm leaning towards something similar to the chunin exams in Naruto or like final selection for demonslayer where you have to prove yourself, or like goldie pond in TPN. UGh EM in like a survival test scenario 😭 If they come out alive, they're doing well, they're probably fighting monsters too, not sure what kind and they just have to survive a few nights or something. Of course they probably hate each other or rather maybe Eren hates Mikasa, Mikasa is too above him to hate him, he's like dirt under her shoe. She's not even concerned with him as competition, and of course this fires up Eren more that his percieved rival doesn't even acknowledge his existence. He always picks fights with her in (demon hunting school?? idk some sort of academy situation, we're combining naruto and demonslayer ideas here) And Mikasa is so fucking unphased, it's all about her, and the competition so they get released into an evil forest of monsters, are expected to survive the night, thrive actually, and Mikasa is doing well, great actually, but then during battle a demon sneaks up on her and her leg is injured. Of course Mikasa is still trying to battle it out to her last breath and is growling and snapping and Eren should of course leave her cuz it's real cut throat and he's probably going to get eaten if he sticks around but he's like DEEP SIGH I can't let my rival die. So he grabs her, the whole time Mikasa is like cursing him that she doesn't need any help and they probably argue as they escape and hide and Mikasa of course goes on to win the competition regardless bc he wakes up and she's gone, off slaying demons again with nothing but a crudely written note that says 'i didn't need your help'. But they develop kind of a soft spot for each other after 🥺🥺🥺
7. This one is really tough because honestly a lot of my favourites are from stuff i've already written 😂 Like I was rereading Yeagerist Miaksa the other day and cackling because Eren was losing his mind about it. But i think some of my fave lines are from MMDS when they're fighting, I wrote this entire fighting scene around Eren's line 😂
“Mikasa why would I cheat on you? Why? Please explain, please give me one good reason I’d cheat when I’ve loved you for not one but TWO FUCKING LIFETIMES.”
and Mikasa's makes me laugh too bc I can just imagine her with crazy eyes thinking about cutting someone's spinal cord bc it's so familiar to her 🤣
“I’ll break her Eren I swear to god, chop her into little bits, I’ve got a clear line of her spinal cord, it’d take one swipe.”
Hard to believe a girl right out of high school could go that dark.
But that's not as fun, so here, this is from Switch! I have a lot of stuff written for that fic that I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to share and when so I'll share it now just in case I switch up how the storyline is going 😉
But its no fun to just give old lines lol so here's something from Switch! It's not necessarily my fave, but I don't know when I'll be able to share this if it'll be next chapter or if i might change things up plotwise so here u go 😉
Since they’ve started this little game, Eren has quickly come to realize how much he loves teasing her, especially sexually. Before, it was just little barbs back and forth with words, but now, he can bring her to the edge of orgasm and make her wait, claiming it’s just in her head.
He fucking loves it. One day, he just can’t resist slipping it in while they’re watching a movie. She’d been bouncing on his lap so excitedly, her rhythm so good, as she chatted about the movie he couldn’t help it.
She’d whined breathlessly, “Ren, we can’t you said—“ He cuts her off with a slam of his dick up into her messy cunt. “Baby I think we should amend the rules."
Mikasa can do nothing but nod against his shoulder, trying to hold back her sweet little whimpers.

ØZI for Tatler
published july 3rd, 2020
[translated by me, proofread by @baobeejun]
Free like water, a born star! From Irene Yeh's son to the new king of popular music, the dazzling star you need to know: ØZI!
Bright red highlighted hair, equally red earpieces hanging around his neck. The boy with eye-catching tattoos is sitting on the make-up chair, skipping his feet while eating breakfast and he exudes a rebellious and free, yet delicate and pure atmosphere. Soon after his debut, he was shortlisted for six Golden Melody Awards last year and won Best New Artist. At the mention of his name, everyone will exclaime admiration and excitement, ØZI seems to have become a synonym of "cool" and "red" among the younger generation.
"I think I'm too rational, 100% rational, I should also be a little sentimental." This cool-looking artist was told by his agent that "his temper is very good, he most likely won't look angry." Isn't it a little unexpected for a rational rapper to be so talkative? Doesn't he also like to drink beverages with either honey or strawberry? Everytime ØZI gives a new answer, people have to reconstruct the imagine they already had in mind of him, contrasting to his appearance there is a vibrant and rich soul ready to stir trouble (in a "catching peoples attention" kinda way). Speaking of his definition of freedom, ØZI jokes "Freedom means that my agent won't call me, no work, blocking my agent's calls!" But in fact, the interpretation of freedom in his heart is somewhat aloof and mature: "Because society has a lot of rules, as far as I can tell, no-one is free; from family, love to friendship, they all have their own rules. But freedom comes from inner stability, it should be "like water", just then you're free. When it is placed in different containers, it becomes it's shape, it can adapt to every environment; to me, this state is freedom, because you can be free from restrictions and confined space."
When asked if he's free now, he mutters "Not necessarily, sometimes I get stuck when my inspiration runs out. It's been a little better lately, it wasn't like water in the second half of last year, instead it was more like ice cubes!" Last year was too busy to think, it was described by ØZI "like the mind is drying out". And because of his plans to go to the United States to relax at the beginning of this year - he didn't expect the immediate outbreak to happen - he got more time to produce, "I'm free now, I'm simply water now!", he smiles.
Living in a prominent family of performing artists - his mother Ye Ailing is an all-round entertainer, his father Chen Wenbin is a well-known photographer - ØZI's creative path can be said to be expected. Because his parents are both in the industry, he grew up in a musical environment ever since he was a child. But when it comes to his own creations, in fact, ØZI liked to draw as a kid. In Junior High, he liked to make and arrange music, in High School he began to write melodies, lyrics, from drawings to producing movies, "creations" of change because as a child, he liked to be "original" about this. He had six Music Videos, all on his iPhone. "At first, my dad said that there were a lot of problems with my Music Videos, so I was trying hard to improve, I learned about lighting and so on, just to prove that my Music Videos can look good, I wanted to get his approval!"
The requirement of children of celebrities is a blessing but it's hard to hold a grasp of it, it's difficult to excuse mistakes. The music world describes it as "to be born a Super Saiyan (means something like "Second-Generation-Star" because he's the son of famous parents). ØZI explains: "I was just lucky to be born into a musical family, I have enough space to be understood and supported. My dad knows what it's like to be a creator, my mom knows what it's like to be a performer. So I had the chance to train to become a Super Saiyan." It's a double edged sword, everyone was paying close attention when ØZI was nominated at the Golden Melody Awards. "After the rookie award, in addition to putting myself under a lot of pressure, I didn't change any of my creative motives and I'm very expressive. So if you don't get rewarded, you get mad at yourself." Maybe stress occasionally hinders his creative work, but at the same time, it's also a sign of determination to succeed and break through the golden sunken ship.
ØZI's first well-known Chinese song "Title" is about not being bind by anything, about wanting to have more freedom, more creative freedom for everyone. He's been making music for his "mission to internationalize Chinese Music" from the very beginning. "The internationalisation is something that not everyone can do, we listen to music from Latin America, Hip-Hop, K-Pop, it's all because of their atmosphere. For me, every artist has their own way of interpretating their culture. It's very important to let everyone know "Oh, that's C-Pop!"" And the new plans of ØZI will be followed by the release of some singles, a new album will also be released this year. He also revealed that he's working on three different projects at the same time now, experimental and core concept types. There's even a project that's "looking for the next stage of ØZI" trying to give his music a new image. "There will be a lot of music you have never heard from ØZI before, some experimental music, I can't reveal much!"
He's 100% rational when it comes to his family, but his sentimental tone betrayed him; when he talks about music, he becomes serious. Introducing his new tattoo is as exciting as being a little boy. His soul is free, but "ØZI" still has a lot of unavoidable restrictions.
"ØZI is the character I created, he's the embodiment of self-confidence, he has to be perfect. The self-confidence this character needs will be infused into my spirit, but this is only one part of it", he says slowly. With his high and straight nose bridge and the fine and smooth line of his chin, ØZI looks somewhat like his mother Ye Ailing; but he has taken off the label of being a celebrity's child, that used to stick on him tightly, a long time ago already. He's ØZI, free like water, a born star.
TATLER discusses with ØZI
What do you do to pass the time that make a perfect holiday?
Go to the beach of an uninhabited island alone or with a group of friends, lie on the beach and drink cocktails, read a book, maybe listen to music, sleep.
What do you like to do the most when you don't have to work?
Playing video games, eating, getting a massage, sleeping, watching Netflix.
If you could have one drink with an idol, who would it be?
Canadian Rapper/Singer Drake! So I can understand his logic of running his OVO Empire and see if I can absorb it and apply it on my own label.
Your motto?
The tattoo on my leg, it's a famous quote from "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises": "Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."
Who is your life idol? Why?
Christopher Nolan, the director of "Inception"! Actually, everyone who gives me inspiration for a period of time is my idol.
What would you recommend to watch on Netflix?
I actually watch anything, from serious "13th" to pure entertaining "Too Hot To Handle", I want to absorb different elements.
Please define freedom in one sentence?
Be like Water!
Which abroad city do you want to visit first after the ban gets lifted?
Greece! I went there for the first time when I was shooting the MV to "Paradise Island", and I thought I have to come back when I get the chance to! It has a peaceful charm between the island and the city, it has their own ancient culture and beach parties, everyone is very relaxed and the atmosphere is very cool.
Favourite drink?
Apple Milk or Honey Water, I like the Honey or Strawberry kind.
When your mood is low, what do you do to cheer up?
Playing video games, hanging out with friends, working out.
What games have you been playing lately?
