let's start off with the most obvious obvious one; this man would die for you

you could tell him to go up against the government and he would do so without hesitation (he's basically already doing it anyways LMFAO)

absolutely adores cuddling up to you while sleeping. my theory is that this man secretly enjoys being the little spoon because he's never gotten that kind of comfort when he was younger

he likes it when you wrap your arms around him from behind as well. actually, he just likes any type of contact with you.

inwardly guilty he can't spoil you with lavish goods because he's not exactly rich. you deserve the world, in his eyes, and a secret fear of his is that one day you'll leave him

he's either a great cook or a food poisoner, there is no in between. either way, he loves your home-cooked meals the most

very domesticated around you. he radiates black cat energy, and whenever he comes home from work and practically drapes himself all over you, you're always reminded of a grumpy but comfort-seeking cat you once saw on social media.

not a great kisser, because let's be for real, between raising minji and his missions, he doesn't have a lot of time to practice his smooching skills. however, he's a really quick learner and you've noticed a drastic improvement in his bedroom skills ever since he started dating you. but he's great with his hands ( yk, his cqc... fast fingers... ). i'll leave the rest to your imagination

bro would absolutely be the type to be silent about his relationship with you, so people either find out through seeing him with you, or minji happily going around telling everyone she has a mom now.

my headcanon is that this man has horrible alcohol tolerance. one shot with hansu and jincheong is enough to make him red in the face. the first time he came home drunk, you thought he was kind of cute intoxicated and secretly filmed him the entire night tripping over thin air and arguing with the soap

would insist on carrying all your bags. it's rare for you to go on a shopping spree, but even if you're going out for your routinely grocery run, he would insist on carrying all the bags, including your purse, even if you keep insisting he let you carry something.

this gentleman finally relents and lets you carry the bag of chips home LMFAO

now let's talk about his... less than ideal background.

if you were totally oblivious about his past, he would feel a mix of relief and worry, because he's happy that you don't know about his shady history, but also worried that one day you would find out about it, and possibly leave him. let's be real, with the humongous target on his back, someone is bound to find out he has a wife and harm you.

he would never admit it to you, but in the end you'd find out anyways. there's no way the two of you could go your entire lives without finding out every little detail of each other's past, pretty or not.

let's just say you found out through someone ambushing your house when manager kim wasn't home to try and kidnap you. but of course, your husband, having installed silent alarms in every corner of your shared apartment, immediately came racing back to grab you and swoop you into a safe house in the blink of an eye.

he had explained everything to you, saying that if you didn't want to stay with him he would completely understand and accept it.

poor boy was so confused when you burst into tears and hugged him and called him an idiot. he genuinely didn't believe anybody normal would want to be with him even though he basically told them he used to be a ruthless war machine.

after you had calmed down, you had explained that you were disappointed that he thought so little of himself, and you were also really sad because you realized where all the scars littered across his body had come from, and it broke your heart to think that he had gone through so much pain during his time in the military.

after that whole fiasco, you treated his scars more tenderly than ever.

you would trace the bullet scars and lines on his upper body with care and softness as you lay in bed together, and he can't help but think that some good has come out of coming clean to you after all

but let's say that you knew about his past, maybe because you were a part of his squad back in the days.

but seriously, i feel like he would feel more at ease whenever he leaves the house to go on a mission because he knows you can protect yourself and minji if the need arises, even if he would still get anxious and worried for your safety.

tbh i feel like you probably caught his eye because you kicked his ass a couple of times when sparring lol

he would like the fact that he could come home in the dead of the night, covered in blood from head to toe, and not have to fumble for an excuse to tell you

nightmare bonding is real bc the two of you have probably gone through some extremely traumatic things in your early days, and of course it's going to leave a lasting impact on both of you.

some nights, the two of you would wake up sweating and shivering after reliving those moments, or seeing your dead comrades, and can silently comfort each other as you both steady your breathing and calm yourselves down

definitely would bring the two of you closer together than ever

let's talk about what manager kim would be like if he's jealous!

would be the type to subtly swoop in and enter whatever conversation you were having with the poor guy, remaining calm and collected, though he made sure he dropped hints left and right.

"ah yes, my wife owns that dress..." "my wife loves the tteokbokki at that restaurant..." "my wife... my wife..."

and when the dude finally gets the hint and backs off, you're always left feeling amused as you watch your husband stare at the guy as he walks off, a stoic look on his face, though you can always feel the triumph radiating off him.

and let's just say the guy doesn't get the hint, and instead keeps implying that you can do so much better than what you have right now. you smile awkwardly, reassuringly interlacing your fingers with his, but it's not enough for the cold stare to drop from manager kim's face.

spoiler alert: that guy either dies or he leads a very unlucky life afterwards

after you and him part ways with the annoying guy (you have to politely excuse yourselves with a lame excuse), manager kim is always left feeling slightly insecure and ashamed of himself. the guys that hit on you are always younger, always richer, always better looking. why would you want to stay with a broke, single father like him anyways? his secret fear comes back into play as these thoughts eat him alive

it doesn't take much to make him forget his worries - just reassure him and comfort him and pamper him, but if a few days go by without you noticing the shame and insecurities eating him away, it might cause him putting some distance between the two of you because he thinks he's not worthy of your love

besides his self-degradation, this man is one of the best men in manager kim to end up with because you know he's going to do whatever he can to ensure you live comfortably, with little to no fears or worries whatsoever. 10/10.

p.s. bro would defo be the type to get hit on by older women when he goes to parent-teacher meetings. and going back to how he wouldn't outright talk about his marriage, none of the women would ever know he was married, until they saw you come in place of your husband, who was on a 'work trip' (that was not true, he went to another city to murder some gang), and needless to say, the women never bothered manager kim ever again.

Webtoon comics I think are underrated.

Now, I just want to make it clear that when I say “underrated” I don’t mean as if it isn’t heard of or been read, just that it’s underrated in the sense that nobody talks about it, makes posts about it, fanfics, fan arts, etc.

…and if you haven’t read these then I highly recommend you do!!! It’s so worth it, trust! I’ll add in a little review too!

1. DEATH: Rescheduled (Thriller)

The story in short is about a world where you have the Kill Law, a law where you are legally allowed to kill one person a year, no consequences. However the “Penny” Kreyul and his friends disagree with the Kill Law and are going to put an end to it no matter what.

Death: rescheduled had me so captivated that I refused to sleep before I finished reading. I even spent money on this shit because it was so entrancing! My favourite episode was by far 66, it was so funny and it builds up ships and just pure wholesomeness of the group.

The characters all have great personalities, the story is amazing and omg the art is so beautiful. You’ll love it.

2. Sable Curse (Fantasy)

This story follows a young girl named Tarron, a girl who is cursed and will die in 6 months. Her (honestly abusive) parents decide to take her and her sister to a holiday retreat. There she ends up finding new friends, herself, potential love, and maybe even a cure for her curse. But as it turns out, she’s not the only one cursed either.

This story is amazing! The art is wonderful, the characters are perfect, some we hate, some we love. We learn throughout the story more about this curse, and even about this special holiday retreat. There is so much mystery to uncover and it is one of my favourite webcomics.

Now, I’ve heard that most people have actually read it, but I encourage that we make a proper fandom for this series!

3. Marionetta (Fantasy)

Two best friends decide to go out and visit the travelling circus. However after a while Julia’s best friend Kamille disappears. Julia is determined to find her again and hunts down the circus, where her best friend is now living. Julia is still going to bring her home and end up losing something very valuable. Her life. For this circus is for the dead. Now Julia has to uncover the true secrets behind the circus whilst still trying to bring her and Kamille home. Will she manage? Or will she have to kill Anthonn Gremminger to save her life?

When I tell you this webcomic is a roller coaster of emotions. There are plenty of ships to chase, characters to stan, and many theories to explore. I love this webcomic so bloody much and I was actually surprised that there wasn’t a lot posted about it.

This is such a cool and dark story, with lovely and cute art. I could talk about it for hours.

4. After School Activities For Unripe Apples (Drama)

A wholesome slow burn between Mi-ae and an old childhood friend, Cheol. When another year starts and Mi-ae needs to take school more seriously the son of the family friends shows up in her class, but now seen as Lucifer, a hostile boy who ends fights - but is that the boy Mi-ae remembers? Who she know knows and loves?

This is a cute, funny and entertaining webcomic. You would think that things would be so simple, however due to school, parents, and other issues the characters face of themselves and others, it is difficult to understand and accept your own feelings. This is exactly why I love this series so much, it’s relatable and adorable. We especially love Mi-ae.

There are a few fanfics out there, but honestly where is the love it deserves??

5. My universe (Romance)

Apart from the normal college life Hayeon lives, she has this special gift.. she can communicate with the universe. She ends up communicating with an alien, who she gives the name Ujun. They want to be able to actually meet each other, but alas that is nearly impossible. But imagine the surprise when Ujun ends up taking over the body of one of Hayeons classmates, and crush, Hyeonsu. Now they must figure out a way to send him back whilst still spending some time together. However the peacefulness and secrets can’t be kept as the aliens are taking over. What will Hayeon do now? And can she even trust Ujun anymore?

Now this story deserves its own universe fr. The art is super cute as is the story, however things get more complicated as the story progresses. When I was still reading this the first thing I would do in the morning is read the next episode as soon as I got the daily pass because it was so good! Obviously I’m not going to spoil the ending, however the waves of emotions this series brings you is inhuman.

All in all it’s a fantastic webcomic that deserves so much love and attention!

6. Stray Souls (Fantasy)

In a world of magic and string weaving, some are fortunate and some are not. Eylin isn’t particularly good at string weaving, however that doesn’t stop her and her friends from stopping the wicked and doomed Amethyst King. Follow along the difficulty journey with friendship, love, and a whole lot of mystery. But what is it all worth in the end?

Holy moly this story is AMAZING. The plot is genius and the art is fantastic, the characters are so original and all have such amazing personalities!! Although, it’s a bit hard to keep track of them all😭 still love them all.

All in all it’s so amazing and has so much potential to be incredibly popular, yet there is no fandom!? Give it attention!!

7. Spirit Fingers (Drama)

Adorable Amy Song is incredibly self conscious and insecure. She has no support and no confidences, however after stumbling upon an art club drawing each other and their wacky poses - she ends up becoming their model too. After meeting a cute guy and getting his number she enters the group herself! This group accepts her with love and so much care, and she finally starts to feel more confident in herself and her art! She might even get a boyfriend!

This is quite literally the cutest and most heartwarming webcomic I’ve read in a while. And there is no one talking about it!!’ It’s been around for sooooo long too!!! When I tell you I cry, and laugh, and smile so hard at every chapter!! If you love a heartwarming, coming of age, and found family comic - then this is perfect!! And the art is beautiful!! It’s a perfect read for artists!!

Miss Amy is literally so relatable for those who don’t feel very pretty or have any sorts of insecurities regarding looks or academics. It’s a beautiful, long, and mostly free (if you’re fine with ads) comic, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever found.

Now! So far this are all the webcomics that come to mind! I think all of these are great and I just know that so many more will enjoy these if they gave them a chance.

I’d love to talk about these with other people, and I’d even love it if others would like to share some webcomics they believe are underrated too.

It’s spooky season so here are some webtoon recs

apologies in advance for the low quality images some of them are locked behind paywalls now (on the kr app the translated ones should be fine) and I was too lazy to go through all the chapters for the good panels

Ghost Teller- I’m so biased but this is one of my favorite webtoons. Summary in one line: ghosts go to therapy

Real summary: various ghosts (s1 is eastern ghosts, s2 is western ghosts) tell “human stories” (like how we talk abt ghost stories lol). the art is amazing, and all the episodes are all pretty solid. even if some stories are predictable you still feel for the characters (although personally I prefer s1 over s2)

Sweet Home- some of you might have seen it on Netflix but whether you watched it or not I highly recommend the webtoon (I have issues with the adaptation but that’s another story)

basically people suddenly start turning into monsters and the survivors of this apartment try to survive together. except the mc shows signs of becoming one of those monsters which creates unrest amongst the survivors. not going to get too into the monster part bc spoilers but the webtoon explores what people would do for survival so you get to see scummy ppl, kind ppl, all trapped together and try to survive 👍

the art style captures the story’s spooky/horror vibe so well. I didn’t include Bastard on the list (the previous webtoon the same author and artist worked on) bc it’s more of a psychological horror/thriller than creature? horror but if it sounds interesting or you liked sweet home I highly highly recommend Bastard as well.

+) There’s also a prequel called Shotgun Boy that’s more about the creatures’ origins

Surviving Romance- despite the title there’s little to no romance although it can probably be read as sapphic if you’d like. if you read makeup remover it’s by the same author. I’ve also seen some people compare this to orv but I can’t speak for that since I haven’t finished orv… haha

one line summary: mc gets isekai’d into a romance novel except it suddenly turns into a zombie apocalypse

long summary: mc is the mc of a romance novel but on the day she’s supposed to receive a confession from the male lead, there’s a zombie outbreak. she already read the novel so she knows the story and characters, but literally everybody that’s not the love interests don’t like her bc that’s how the mc of the novel was written. she finds out that the day resets when she dies but she doesn’t really care until someone she doesn’t know the face of saves her and she decides to find that person and make sure they make it out alive

even if you don’t like isekais (I personally don’t) it’s worth a try. it plays around the isekai premise well and the fourth wall moments were just *chef’s kiss* the impact of those moments especially when the webtoon was still ongoing was 🤌

the cast is primarily female characters, and despite the cast being on the slightly larger side, each of them are distinct from one another and the characters designs are very cute and colorful. overall it has an unique premise that it delivers pretty well on

Night of Shadows- kinda underrated tbh. mc has prophetic dreams, creatures from her dreams start appearing irl, and she’s the only one that knows how to deal with them.

mc is great. she’s strong, smart, and knows when not to give a fuck. the other three characters of the main cast are also pretty strongly established, and the plot and pacing are pretty good. this is the only one on the list that’s still ongoing (currently on hiatus after s1)

2. dazai osamu - bungo stray dogs

✧⁠*•彡 told you- another smart character :") also i love the contrast between the port-mafia-dazai and agency-dazai. Won't give any spoilers but if you haven't watched bungo stray dogs yet, i guarantee it's amazing !

3. maki zenin - jujutsu kaisen

✧⁠*•彡 i love how jjk has so many strong female characters and maki is surely one of them !

4. hange zoe - attack on titan

✧⁠*•彡 another strong female character ! also, we gotta appreciate hange for her eccentricity and comedic relief (however limited they were) XD

5. koro sensei - assassination classroom

✧⁠*•彡 best teacher ever ! i love how he makes sure none of his students feel left out/ignored in class and how he understands each of them individually. as a student myself, i always wished i had a teacher like him :") the entire anime was a roller coaster ride and even though i watched this a long time back, it still brings back memories :")

6. william james moriarty - moriarty the patriot

✧⁠*•彡 okay, i feel like this is such an underrated masterpiece and people should talk about this more ! william takes the crown for being the mastermind that he is, but every single character is so interesting (and attractive) too xD

7. han sooyoung - omniscient reader's viewpoint

✧⁠*•彡 another orv character, sorry ! but i cant help but include her on this list. i love her independent nature and how unbothered she can appear to be ! also, LOVE seeing dokja and her bickering like siblings lmao

8. rengoku kyoujiro - demon slayer

✧⁠*•彡 this guy has no enemies lolol (except maybe the demons). i mean- can anyone dislike him ?? just look at that smile T^T

9. edogawa ranpo - bungo stray dogs

✧⁠*•彡 i seem to love characters with a deeply contrasting personality (e.g. how he can go from eating snacks cutely at the agency to being such a badass solving crimes and saving the agency every time) he really shone in season 4 and with how things are going in the latest season, i can already tell he's gonna slay all the way heheh

10. armin arlert - attack on titan

ooooooh thank you for that reallynice ask! well i haven't watched that many thai dramas lately but i do have a few to recommend, and then some korean ones that are really good as well (i hope you haven't seen them...)

okay so my fav underrated thai bl is definitely manner of death. it stars max nattapol and tul pakorn (the original bl kings!) and is about that doctor who finds himself in a bit of a pickle trying to solve a suicide-but-really-murder case. the show is a bit dark but its pace and writing are really good + maxtul's chemistry is something else.

if you've loved not me i OBVIOUSLY recommend the eclipse if you haven't seen it already. it is a must. it stars first and khaotung (my babies <3) and has layers and layers of political statements about thailand's regime and queer ppl (it's important to say that it is made by golf tanwarin sukkhapisit, a trans activist who was also the first openly trans woman MP of thailand!)

23.5 hasn't aired yet BUT i am waiting for it impatiently 😍 we need some more gl outthere!

talking about gl you also have GAP, which i haven't watched yet but has a lot of nice kissing scenes from what i've seen 👀

i haven't seen moonlight chicken yet but as a general thai bl rule i would recommend all of the earthmix shows, especially tale of a 1000 stars. sometimes the plot is a bit wobbly but earthmix's chemistry is incredible and the show is also really moving (i cried watching it lol).

finally in the thai drama department my last recommendation would be i told sunset about you, which is a classic and a must see 💙

note: all of those can be quite dark and serious at times, so if you looking for something a bit more fun i'd go for cutie pie or secret crush on you which is the batshiest craziest cringiest show you'll ever watch (i love them. so much. all the characters in this are insane. also it is worth pointing out that for once the feminine gays get to be the stars of the show).

moving on to the kdramas!

it won't have escaped your attention if you follow me that i have been completely insane about the eight sense. idk what to tell you. the queer experience is universal and i am in love. WATCH IT.

in that same vein if you haven't already you must watch blueming, aka my favourite bl of all time with the eight sense, and where your eyes linger (generally speaking i would recommend everything hwang daseul has done, she's an incredible director and writer).

i just finished our dating sim and unintentional love story, which i had a nice time watching!

if you still haven't seen it (HOW??) i obviously recommend semantic error, the king of korean bls. the characters are smart but dumb together and i love them (btw the webtoon is really fun to read too if you're into that!)

finally i'll recommend choco milk shake, which deals with grief in a very soft way and has an incredible cast. you can watch it for free on the company's youtube channel so please support them!

i forgot a lot of thai bls and didn't go into the japanese and taiwanese ones but if you're interested send me another ask! :)

Exactly what's in the title. Except that the MC isn't cursed. We think. In any case, Gwen is absolutely adorable and deserves only good things.

Small child fall into hell and is adopted by demons. Criminally underrated.

Suitor Armor

Lucia, the MC, is the lady-in-waiting (really, sister/best friend) of the future queen. Just as they both arrived to the court, they discover that the royal mage managed to create the perfect weapon: an armor that can move in its own. Unbeknownst to said man but not to Lucia, Modeus is best boi.

Lore Olympus

A retelling of Persephone and Hades. One of my favorite webtoons.

Hero Killer

Don't judge me. In a world where heroes and villains exist, heroes are out of control and do whatever they want. The MC disagrees with the statu quo. It's fairly new but I am already loving it.

Purple Hyacinth

Cop lady who knows when people lie teams up with notorious hired killer in order to destroy a criminal organization. Gorgeous art, funny characters, and beautiful fight scenes.

Fluidium

In a world where people are born with two bodies, one male and one female, people can change gender at will until they are 21, where they must choose the body in which they will spend the rest of their lives. Except that MC, Jesse, feels comfortable in both bodies and really doesn't want to choose.

The croaking

Bird people trapped in a dystopia! I would tell you to read it for the worldbuilding but the characters are really good too.

The Red King

Rich (and spoiled) problem child pathologically allergic to people hiding the truth discovers that there is a world of magic (not the fun kind) existing not too far from him. Goes after a girl that can turn into a bird because she stole something and good people were fired because of it. Is aware that he is way over his head but that's apparently no reason to stop. A disaster. Beautiful art.

SubZero

DRAGON PEOPLE! Ahem. Arranged marriage between two royal families in order to stop a war. Members of said royal families can turn into dragons.

In the bleak midwinter

With a dead sister and 25 years to go on her soulmate timer, Anya decides to cryogenically sleep away her problems. Too bad she wakes up to an apocalypse full of them.

Never follow the wispfinch

Also criminally underrated. Son of resistance figure (who abandoned me) is volunteered by the government to become one of their killers. He decides to make it everyone's problems. All the important characters are mages. Beautiful art.

Mage & Demon Queen

You know those stories where the hero fights her way through a tower to affront the demon king? Well, this one is a mage and she wants to marry the demon queen.

Urban Animal

Normal kid discovers he is a chimera, aka someone who can change into animals (yes, plural, hence the chimera name). Starts as the usual "Normal teenage boy having to juggle with school, powers and secrets" then get more interesting.

The devil is a handsome man

I have no idea how to summarize that one. Demons? In Hell? Everyone has secrets. The MC doesn't remember her past, can't see the face of her boss, the devil, and she is trying to get used to her job.

Crumbs

Modern witch world where the MC is a seer. She can't see the future. instead, she can see the present. The story starts with her walking into a bakery that sells pastries that makes you feel things (romance, focus, peace, melancholy, and so on). The worldbuilding is absolutely incredible.

Then, probably my favorite genre : we love a good fight but the scenario is solid.

Unordinary : we love character development and challenging society, also secret organizations

Lookism : good characters, impressive research on how to actually fight, secret organizations, also the character development is bonkers. Starts with one random guy and then others start joining him and create a real good team.

Viral hit : same author, we love a good twink protag, actual skills, being a sl.t for money, but taking no shit. Please, it's worth it.

AND MY ALL TIME FAVORITE : THE BOXER

I don't think I can give an objective opinion on that one because I love it so much. But there's a thing I know : when the author can make one beg for the Antagonist to live, and when it can make a character so despicable it is a consensus in the community that we all hate him... I think it's a pretty high level of well-written here. The characters are so human it's tragic, the writing is exceptional, the plot seems more complex than I thought. Please read it and tell me when you cry. (it's not that sad, really, but there's this one chapter that gets me every time)

This week I am spotlighting one of my favorite writers, @nildespirandum​!  She is the Adam writer that made me both scared and brave enough to write Adam myself.  She is the weaver of worlds, the creator of characters so real you think they are sitting next to you.  Smart, funny, and an amazing writer!

How long have you been writing fic?

I am on this current round for about four years, but I did write before though that was a decade ago.

What fandoms and/or ships do you write?

Tom Hiddleston characters, though not RPF.  Primarily Loki, but I have written for Thomas Sharpe, Adam from Only Lovers Left Alive, and Conrad from Kong: Skull Island.  For all of them I have written OFCs.

How did you get started writing fic?

I had ideas for a fics for a while, but it wasn't until I started commenting and then talking to @caffiend-queen that I decided it was time to do something about it.

Story Recommendations

Which of your stories are your favorite?

I hate this question, but if I had to pick it would be the cycle of stories called Loki and Nora's Infinity Stone Playlist, both because it is my first, and because I think the relationship between the characters - not just Loki and Nora, but the cast that has build up around them - allows me to tell so many tales.

Which story are you most proud of?

Either Perfection - my Crimson Peak AU, or Reigning in Hel - A JotunLoki series.

Which of your stories do you think is the most underrated?

Probably At Hel's Edge, which is a historical mash-up of MCU Loki, with MythLoki.  The people who read it loved, it but it never found much of an audience.  Possibly because of the style I wrote it in, or maybe because the MCULoki character was a bit abstract from his origin.  But I am very, very lucky that it is getting a second life as a Webtoon drawn by @rauko-art, who is incredibly gifted and has worked so hard to make something really beautiful.

Someone is new to reading your stories, which story/stories should they read first?

For Loki, the Infinity Stone Playlist.  Otherwise, maybe Perfection.

Which story did you do the most research for?

Perfection.  I can tell you how much a yard of silk cost in 1910, both in England and the US.  

Which story was the easiest to write?

Probably my Incubus Loki first series.  It was so over the top and goofy that it was effortless.  Rapacity - my vampire Loki story - is also quite easy.  There may be a trend here.

The Writing Process

What is your favorite part of writing?

To quote Dorothy Parker, "I hate writing, but I love having written."  With that said, I love the moment when I am lost in the process, and the characters are narrating and I am taking dictation.  

What is your least favorite part?

Editing, which is probably why I hardly ever do it.  That said, I am fine editing other people's work.  

Describe your style in 1 to 2 sentences.

Breezily conversational when it isn't breaking your heart.

Who are some of your writing idols and/or influences?

I don't have time, and you certainly wouldn't have the patience, for my full list but a few key choices are Jane Austen, Anthony Bourdain, Ian Shoales, Alexander Dumas, the Brothers Grimm, Neil Gaiman, Louisa May Alcott, Balzac, Mary Roach, Bebe Moore Campbell, Douglas Adams.  But all of that said it was probably Howard Pyle, the D'aulaires, Zilpha Keatley Snyder, Winifred Madison, and Ruth Chew whose books I read over and over to the point of them falling apart are probably the writers who made me, not only on the page, but in life.

What programs do you use to write and/or edit?

I do all of my writing and editing in Google docs.   I'm a Luddite at heart.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

A pantser.  I might have some of a story in mind when I start, but usually I start with an image and let fly.  The entirety of my Bottom of the Hourglass story came from my seeing a folded bookcase leaning against a basement door.

Do you write RPF or not?

Years ago I wrote an RPF as a gift for a friend. For the future, I never say never.

Who is your favorite character to write and why?

Loki.  Loki is the gift that keeps on giving.  While I could flippantly say that all of that emotional and mental trauma is fic writer catnip - and I wouldn't be lying - there is so much more.  He is a character of such wit and imagination, powerful, funny, wise, and a complete idiot.  The Trickster is such brilliant architype, playing both sides of the fence, fooling and being fooled, capable of great good and true evil.  He is vastly entertaining, and achingly sympathetic.  I can go on, but I will spare you.

What do you think are your writing strengths?

Dialogue, for one.  I am proud that if you read the dialogue alone from my stories you can tell who each character is, that they all have a distinct voice.

What do you struggle with?

Plot.  I get so very bored with plot.  

Favorite Trope?

That's like being asked to pick a favorite anything, I can't do it.  Ok, fine, enemies to lovers.

Favorite word to use?

Delightful.  Or Really.

What is the best piece of writing advice you have heard?

Make time for your writing.  Even when you think you can't.

What would you say to a new fanfic writer starting out?

Don't be afraid, don't shrink and hide and diminish yourself, you have to be your own first, best audience.  Also, always remember, art doesn't apologize and neither should you, as long as you feel you have given the best you can at any given time - which will not always be the same, EVERYONE has off days - then be proud of having written, of having added to the world.

What is a random bit of research you have not managed to work into a fic yet?

I did so much research on boats and ship to ship combat for my pirate story that I will never use all of it.  Generally I am pretty efficient with my research, mostly because I already have a brainful of useless knowledge that I am still trying to make pay off.

What is your favorite random detail from one of your stories?

I love that in the later Infinity Stone Playlist stories Loki's various lounging robes have magical pockets that always produce cookies.  

Any goals or WIPs you want to share?

I am determined to finish both The Frost Queen and The Tales of the Golden Horn this spring, and I have decided I am going to commit to the sequel to Perfection about Thomas and Alice's grandson that I have had in mind since I finished their story.

Three Vastly Underrated Stories

Excuse me while I passionately advocate for three stories (a comic, tv series, and film) I wish more people were engaging with.

I believe that "Lavender Jack" on Webtoon is massively underrated. Superhero stories from Marvel and DC continue to maintain lasting blockbuster status and period dramas like "Bridgerton" and "The Crown" are breaking viewership records. As a victorian-esque superhero story, Lavender Jack has the potential to explode onto the scene. Even more so with the boon that is Lavender Jack’s majority POC cast and array of LGBTQ characters which sets it apart from most superhero and period pieces. But it’s very difficult to find followers of the series online, even among my Webtoon reading friends. Its absence in the mainstream is made even more odd by its nature as a truly excellent comic. The list of its exceptional elements is lengthy; its action is creative and dynamic, its mysteries are gripping, its humor is biting and smart, its art is a feast for the eyes. And best of all, its heroes are immediately endearing, relatable, and exciting, while its villains are unrelenting in their menace, highly intelligent, and move and speak with the flare of the Phantom of the Opera. If I could select any Webtoon series for adaptation into an animated show, Lavender Jack is my choice.

AMC’s "The Terror" is an incredibly unique and underrated horror series. Its first season saw a large drop off in viewership despite its exceptional story, characters, and setting. The Terror differentiates itself by creating most of its horror via its characters’ losing battle against arctic weather that builds a mounting atmosphere of dread as limited food spoils and hunger spills over into paranoia and desperate violence. As the series goes on, it becomes clear the cast would already be their own ruin, even without the giant man-eating magic bear hunting them. The Terror is horror, but it is deeply invested in exploring the minds of its cast, showing how even when so many become monsters, just as many when facing probable doom become brave, gallant even. It is a horror story with something for everyone, even non-horror fans. I found it to be one of the most engrossing character dramas and survival horror stories I’ve experienced in years and it absolutely deserves to be lauded as a true accomplishment in the genre.

"Wristcutters: A Love Story" is an understandably underrated film, with such an unsettling name, it’s not hard to imagine why. The fact that it only made back half its budget lends further credence to that. But, if more people gave it a chance I know they would find it’s not just an edgy comedy or a fanciful romance. It takes its main conceit of focusing on people in an afterlife solely for people who’ve committed suicide and takes the more meaningful approach of looking at them all with compassion. Wristcutters is set in an almost barren world where people cannot smile and there are no stars at night, but the story it tells is based entirely on pushing its characters, and audience, to think on what it means to be happy and why life is worth living. Personally, this film fills me with hope and reminds me to appreciate the little things and the minor miracles that are all around us. This is all done through lovable characters and irreverent deadpan comedy in a strange world you can’t help but wonder about. Wristcutters is a hidden gem that offers an odd, yet powerfully comforting, road trip through a strange world in search of happiness. I think that experience is something just about anyone living life can relate to.

Eighteen again- IF YOU know the American movie “17 again” this is the korean version of it...this kdrama is so good! Like the first episode I was like UGH are they really going to copy the American version but I was in for a surprise they go in deeper to the story and also hwang in yeop :’)

I don’t believe we had any alternative titles, and if we did, I do not recall them.

Favorite character and how they are introduced:

Tyler. He’s introduced at the beginning of the first chapter, seen before anyone else.

Favorite ship:

Rose/Victor! I haven’t gotten to writing their relationship and build-up, but from our plans and how we’ve designed Victor’s character to be, I’m excited.

MC’s biggest mistake:

Rose is probably more of an MC than the others, despite it being a Tyler/Ethan fanfic.

Her biggest mistake was probably refusing to give up on Carter. While he was her boyfriend, his actions toward her (and later, Jazzy) were unacceptable after she came out to him. She isn’t to blame at all, but it’s definitely the thing she regrets most.

Inspiration:

A webcomic on Webtoon called “Always Human.” The comic explores the events happening to the girls Sunati and Austen throughout the course of their relationship. Beautiful art, realistic problems (despite being set in a futuristic utopian society), representation, and well-written romance. I wanted to incorporate these factors into LaM to make it similar to a story I enjoyed very much that left an influence on me.

Underrated character appreciation:

Jazzy! Rose’s best friend. Even in the separate story where she’s one of the main set of characters, she’s still very overlooked. She’s very upbeat and friendly, with lots of knowledge on wlw pop culture and history!

A few favorite dialogues:

“I’m ready, but we’re not in a rush or anything.” “Of course we’re in a rush, you slut! Probably when she was adopted. It was the most exciting day of her life, and lead down a journey of self-discovery.

In close second is the day she became friends with Jazzy. She was there for her when she needed her most.

“What About Us” by P!nk, probably definitely because it’s the song I used for Tyler and Ethan’s first dance.

“Leave a Message” by gnash, the song I named the book after! This one doesn’t need much of an explanation.

Enjoy torturing the characters?

Not really, but I do it anyway. Good for character development, which there’s a lot of. But I don’t enjoy it, no. I love the characters in this book like my cat and dogs: with all my heart.

MC’s biggest fear:

Being unaccepted. This fear makes itself evident after what happens with Carter. Her mother’s reaction enforces this more.

Goals:

To finish LaM by the end of sophomore year, editing and all.

To be proud of the finished product.

To use this book as a reminder that I can do it. I can write.

Characters’ secret talents:

Ethan, despite not playing for many, many years, still excels at playing the ukulele. This becomes not so much of a secret later on in the book.

Rose is surprisingly good at tic-tac-toe. Not necessarily a talent, but definitely something she’d want you to note.

Turned into a media? Cast?

Seeing as LaM is a piece of fanwork, I don’t believe I would turn it into a media.

If it was to be a media, however, along with Tyler Scheid and Ethan Nestor to play Tyler and Ethan, as well as Mark Fischbach, Amy Nelson, and Kathryn Knutsen to play their friends, a few choices I would make would be to cast Janet Mock as adult Rose Scheid and Elliot Fletcher as adult Adrian Garcia.

MC’s basic morals and general beliefs:

Rose’s number one moral is to never make someone feel shut out. Having been rejected (as well as accepted) many times in her life, she knows that she never wants anyone to feel like that, and makes an effort to be the reason.

How MC found out the tooth fairy doesn’t exist:

She never really believed in it, to begin with.

Least favorite OC:

Carter. Abusive transphobic asshat that left Rose with lots of insecurities and trauma for years to come.

Snippet:

Mark really had gone all out with making the altar just like Tyler had wanted it to look. The arch was made out of ebony wood that had been painted white with golden accents. Flowery vines were twirled all around the wood, the flowers colors of black, grey, purple, and blue. The chairs surrounding the aisle were all made of the same wood as the arch, the cushions blue and grey. Both Ethan and Tyler’s family alike filled those chairs, chattering away with one another. Tyler quickly scanned the side filled with Ethan’s relatives, and wasn’t surprised to see Ethan’s aunt and uncle were not present. He hoped to god that Ethan wouldn’t notice. The guests quieted down and turned their heads to look at Tyler, and he felt put on the spot. Most of the guests smiled at him, others clapped quietly. He could see that two people in particular were both smiling and clapping. Seeing Jack and Kathryn so supportive of him was majorly comforting to Tyler. He exhaled, and glanced at Mark behind him. Mark was already smiling, and nudged his head towards the arch. Tyler walked down the aisle and received praise from just about everyone sat in chairs. He high-fived Jack on his way to his place next to the officiant. The lady smiled at him, and he returned the gesture. She opened her book as Mark took his place next to Tyler, gazing over his friend’s tux and wiping off some dust quickly. Mark gave Tyler a thumbs-up, and Tyler couldn’t stop smiling. Now that he was actually out in front of the guests and standing where he was meant to be, his nerves relaxed. In fact, every thought he’d ever had in doubt of this marriage before that moment vanished, as soon as Ethan walked out.

Standalone. Although I suppose you could call it a spinoff of one of our other works, the reader does not need to read that series to understand this story.

Biggest character development:

Definitely Rose. Seeing as the story follows the changes through most of her life, there’s a big difference in her character comparing the first chapter she is introduced to the closing chapter, where she takes center stage.

People who know of the WIP:

My co-writer, Caroline. Though I’ve done most of the writing, Caroline and I brought the idea for this story to life together, creating a unique cast of characters such as Jazzy, Rose, Adrian, Marcus, their families, Victor, Rose’s mother Aaliyah, and Ethan’s uncle Zane. Without her, the story would not have been written in the first place.

The lovely readers on AO3. I’ve uploaded chapters of the WIP onto there, updating at least once a month. It feels good to be putting some of my work out there for other people instead of just keeping such a joy all to myself. Of course, this is just a personal opinion.

Characters’ annoying habits:

Jazzy’s very short-tempered. Make one wrong move, anyone could get shouted at, lectured, maybe even a blow to the face.

Marcus feels a lot of self-pity and spite. He wishes his parents wouldn’t baby him so much just because he has cancer. This, later on, leads to him participating in multiple illegal activities to antagonize them.

Adrian grows to be more selfish as he gets older, even going out of his way to go into the military and disappear from Rose’s life out of the blue one day without telling her. He later regrets this.

Rose has plenty of autophobia to go around. After her mother gave her up to the orphanage at a young age and Carter’s abuse towards her in her late middle school years, followed by Adrian’s sudden leave after high school, she always fears being alone or abandoned by the people she cares about.

Tyler and Ethan both never seem to recover from the grief of their first child’s loss. This makes them closed off to people who ask about the incident, and could sometimes bring them back to their depressive state.

Very last three lines (with context):

“Unsure was she on how to approach this. She’d felt it since that first night she met him, but it’d grown more and more out of hand since. They’d also became closer as friends, even now sometimes hanging out without the needed assistance of Marcus and Jazzy by their sides to ease the tension.”

Context: Rose had just come to the conclusion she had a crush on Adrian.

Characters: Based off IRL people(through looks, personality, or habits)?

Tyler, Ethan, Amy, Kathryn, Mark, Jack, Chica, Henry, and all of the parents in the story are based off IRL influencers. The characters have only been switched and changed a bit, as well as the relationships, of course, to fit the story.

Impossible friendship:

Carter and Jazzy. Don’t really need to explain it if you’ve read the work. They hate each other’s guts more than anyone, and they could never kiss and make up. As characters, they aren’t the types to do that at all, especially with each other.

Am I proud?

Yes. Leave a Message has been my most dedicated piece of work so far, and I’d say I’m well on my way to reaching my personally-set deadline next year if I keep it at the rate I’m going. Not to mention the characters and plotlines are exciting and realistic, in my own opinion. There’s still a lot left to be written, but I’ve got everything planned out. I don’t plan on stopping until I’m finished with it.

new journey to the west. cast travels to a country and needs to win gamesfor food/sleeping place/dragon balls. fuckinnnn??? hilarious?? established cast and production team chemistry (from their previous show, 1night2days) so even the pilot doesn’t have new cast awkwardness. stellar editingand ingeniously entertaining yet simple games. they’re not afraid to rip eachother apart (some of the members’ have some…interesting past which is fun tobring up).

i live alone. a clip show of an average day of celebs who live alone. while it does haverotating celeb guests, the major draw of the show is the permanent panelmembers established in 2017, esp park narae (who is a legitimately talentedentertainer and tbh deserves better! you’ll get what i mean when u watch theshow!!).

omniscient interfering interview. clips of daily lives of celebs and their managers (who in the industry arealways in the shadows but now it’s their time to shine). wildly popular thateven most of their managers have shot for commercials. watch for the fooddescriptions from lee youngja which was a career-defining talent for her thatshe won the channel’s top entertainment award. the first woman to have everdone so across all three major channels.

infinite challenge. this show has a LOT of episodes but imo watch these specials: the ballroom dance eps, the summer music festivals, bobsleigh challenge, calender model challenge, extreme part-time job, history x hip-hop, the jack black eps, saturday saturday i am a singer, and the (very incredible, very powerful) express delivery special. iconique.

running man. i’m amazed that this show is still airing. the choi minsoo eps and sherlockeps are one of the show’s stand-out. again, if you’re into the cast chemistry,check this out.

2 days 1 night (s1, skip to s4). where the new journey to the west’s cast chemistry and production team isfortified! season 1 was very popular but it ended because the director wantedto pursue his studies. season 2 and season 3 tried to capture its magic with new casts and directors but it just wasn’t the same. when season 4 came ploddingalong, people thought it’ll be canceled soon enough. the newest director was amentee of the original director though and with great luck in the new cast, season 4was herald as the show’s comeback. the ‘no smoking’ episode was brilliant. edit post chatroom scandal: from the bottom of my heart, don’t watch s4 because of one member who is an honest-to-god piece of shit.

what on earth??. an underrated show! a limited series of four men who embarks in a dangerouscross country trip. the first few eps was set in a Qatar desert, the next inthe wetlands of Scotland. educational, good chemistry btwn the members, sharpediting. also not gonna lie part of the reason i did watch this was for ji jinhee. sue me i was in a jtbc misty withdrawal! shares the same director as 2d1n season 4!

sister’s slam dunk. a rare show with an all-female cast with the premise of fulfilling eachmember’s dream with the help of the other members. honestly just watch seasonone for min hyorin’s dream of debuting as an idol (hence dragging in the othermembers too, much to the chagrin of the older members). if you like thechemistry between members enough, stick around! the cast is funny andcharismatic and it’s just (sniffs) i love women! i still bop to the songs onthe regular too.

doesn’t care about guests, just want to relax (my fave kind):

lee hyori’s bed and breakfast. popstar lee hyori and husband opens up their home as a bread and breakfast. depression? cured! streamit on netflix!

little house in the forest. this show is glacial…in the best waypossible. it’s like an ingmar bergman film. honestly best to watch when you’rein bed ready to sleep

youn’s kitchen. legendary actress youn yeo jung opens a restaurant in a foreigncountry with season one in indonesia, season two in italy. idyllic af.

hodong’s kitchen. a spinoff show with the cast from new journey to thewest (they won a bet that if they win a game, their wish is to shoot a showlike youn’s kitchen since they share the same director). if you like the njttwcast and want to see them run a small restaurant, here’s your show!

blind date cafe. what it says on the can. blind dates are done in a cafe withwaitservice that consist of musician lee juck, actress yoo inna,comedian yang sehyung and sf9 member rowoon. it’s very…cishet lmao buti love yoo inna and will watch her wait for paint to dry. some of the couplesare EXTREMELY valid tho (if anything, watch for the webtoon artist andchildrens horror book author! i STAN their love!)

coffee friends. actors set up a cafe. fulfill your coffee shop au daydreamwith yoo yoon seok here!

may food bless you. a team of close female friends that consist of actress hwayeong and comedian lee youngja, song euni, and kim sook gives advice and suggest food to aid for submitted concerns while having a meal. a great show to watch while having dinner.

note: these shows…aren’t perfect. lemme be upfront that there can be elements of casual -isms in them (the relaxing shows are generally okay tho) and i’m just gonna leave it at that.

oh i’m flattered to hear that! hmm i don’t consume very much media and tend to just get into one thing and hyperfixate on that for months at a time but let’s see...

kaitou joker - a really fun manga turned anime (i haven’t read the manga but i’ve heard people say the anime is better) about flashy bright-colored phantom thieves. wacky, super entertaining concepts, coupled with a surprising amount of depth and emotion. it’s zany and childlike and EVERYONE has a tragic backstory. in any case it’s really fun and engaging, i don’t post about it much here bc it’s not super on my radar but it’s an absolutely underrated gem of a show (and probably less popular than other stuff i’m going to post about)

elsword - i’m only into this one secondhand and mostly just piggyback off my friends’ posts but this one is a korean mmo, i don’t know much about how the actual game goes but the characters are all super compelling from what i hear about them from my friends. the character designs are all really good as well

lobotomy corporation - again, only into this one secondhand. it’s a game inspired by scp stuff where you work for a corporation in a post-apocalyptic world that extracts energy from monsters, and you have to allocate resources, appease the monsters, contain them when they rampage, choose how many of your employees to sacrifice, etc. it sounds really good and fun and i love the characters. i really wanna play it but i don’t have the time ;_;

megaman x - okay so this isn’t exactly unknown but like transformers it’s not, like, in the mainstream fandom spotlight so i guess it counts. really good video game series about robots at war that you can analyze for all sorts of deep themes about morality, pacifism, etc, etc. also x and zero are gay. stan axl

gundam build fighters - the gundam franchise is really famous but this installment less so, it takes place in a world where the rest of the gundam franchise is fictional and people do battles with their little gundam plastic model merch. obviously it’s very, exists to sell toys, but like yugioh it has a really fun uplifting vibe of people just being passionate about their hobbies and having fun with that, it’s really sweet

kamen rider - again mostly secondhand hbfdgj can you tell i’m reeeeally bad at getting around to watching/playing things but i like this one. japanese live-action superhero show that’s been ongoing since like the 60s, every year there’s a new series with a new plot and main character. it seems really fun a lot of people are into it. i like ooo and w because i love ankh and philip. insanely popular in japan so idk if it counts as lesser known but yknow

danball senki - by the same company and director as inazuma eleven and it’s a lot like inazuma eleven except with tiny remote-controlled fighting robots instead of soccer. i’m not very far in but already they’ve used these tiny remote-controlled robots to stop an assassination attempt on the prime minister sfhgldg akihiro hino at it again. i only know like three people who have seen it but everyone says it’s super good so i’d check it out

yugioh spinoffs - idk what you followed me for so maybe you know these already but while the original yugioh is super popular the spinoffs are less known, there’s still a huge fanbase but they aren’t really in the collective nerd consciousness as much, anyway they’re all really good. i recommend gx, 5ds and zexal (OH GOD ZEXAL) the most, arc v is universally panned as a disappointment, have heard mixed reviews on vrains but i’m not very big on it. but gx 5ds and ZEXAL!!! are really really good (gx has a loooot of filler in the first half though and zexal also kind of does)

princess tutu - I KEEP FORGETTING PRINCESS TUTU because it’s not really an Interest in that i get the urge to create fanworks for it but it is one of my favorite shows of all time, it’s about fairytale characters who are trapped in a story made by an author who loves tragic endings, and need to escape the tragic ending and forge a new one. it’s also about ballet, and ducks. i admit a lot of me liking it is because it hits on a whole bunch of my personal favorite tropes/aesthetics but it’s also really good in general 

animorphs - OH MY GOD I FORGOT ANIMORPHS. please read animorphs. i know it’s a meme to make fun of the covers but it’s genuinely one of the best ya series of all time it gets soooo deep into exploring and deconstructing all the realistic implications of the whole “plucky teens fight an alien invasion” setup, fair warning it gets BRUTAL and there is an entire genre of tumblr posts that are just people who only know the covers discovering how brutal it is but it’s sooo good. you can read it legally for free online

vsinger - i guess this counts? a line of vocaloids made by shanghai henian that have more lore and background to them than the other vocaloids who are kind of just a design, a name and an age. like for instance tianyi is an alien who can detect peoples emotions using music and can only communicate in song. so you have a bit more character stuff to play around with. i’m mostly just there for longya he’s sexy. gatling is a good song

also i’m really interested in this webtoon called ga dam hang seol it looks so good and interesting but the translation team consists entirely of one friend of mine who is always really busy and so the translation is only 5 chapters and updates very sporadically cries but just in case you’re interested you can read the comic here and the translation is here

well i think that’s about it that’s the accumulation of the past few years’ interests! also in a few years be on the lookout for a very cool and interesting novel whose title i haven’t decided on yet appearing on tapas (poses)

discipline

That one very underrated thing. 

Not everyone’s favourite, but everyone’s need indeed.

I need it the most now, always. Your good habits will continue on saving you from failing. 

Discipline is the key, lemme tell you that. You have all the time, the money, the motivation, and the facilitations ready for you to work on yourself. 

But if you are not discipline enough to work your ass on it every day, you will never achieve your goal.

This new year, 2021, i will be more discipline, i’ll force myself. For my own good. I will make my bed in the morning, do some workout to gain more muscle so that i can be stronger and healthier, i will eat breakfast and take showers daily and get a good night sleep. And also hydrate my body more.

I want to be successful. As a doctor, as a person in general. 

I will be successful. I will get what i work for. I will get what i want. And do what i love and receive love.

My number one priority is ME.

So here are some things i want to be discipline about:

1. Daily routine --> sleep, eat, drink, exercise, hydrate, tidying up

2. Studying medical --> podomoro sections, streaming on youtube live “study with me”

3. Learning Korean Language --> youtube, tiktok, instagram, duolingo, eggbun

4. Readings --> read my books, borrow books from my friend Anggie, listen to audiobook on youtube, download some pdf.

5. Have some fun! --> playing piano, watch some k-drama, read webtoons.

soo.. yes, as simple and as complicated as that. 

As far as my relationship. Discipline is needed as well. Discipline about what kind of words im picking to my s.o. Altho im not really in a relationship with anyone but myself atm. I hope one day if i ever meet my soulmate, whether i have known them or just meet them in the future, i’ll be ready. And they’ll be ready too.

manhwa/webtoon rec #1

Here’s my list of four manhwas/webtoons that I’m enjoying right now. (These are in order with #1 being my top recommended!) (¾ are BL)

1. Weekly Boys’ Dating Agency [read here]

Genres: Romance, Comedy, Shoujo, Mystery, Slice-of-Life

(My) Summary: Five boys have been acquainted since they were children because their parents were all best friends. However, the boys never got along. Then, all of their parents die in the same accident. Now, they must all live together in the same apartment, and the relationship between the five boys remains rocky. In order to stay in the apartment, they must follow the rules of their benefactor. If one breaks the rules, they all will be kicked out. However, it seems none of them care about staying except for one who will do whatever it takes to remain in the apartment because he has nowhere else to go.

Status: Ongoing, 14 chapters out *Currently, this has only been scanlated to the 14th chapter. The scanlator hasn’t updated in around 9 months, and there are 51 chapters out in raw and it’s still ongoing. If someone could pick this up and update it, they’d be an angel. (please please please) 

Review So Far: Okay, I’m literally in love with this story. The art is so nice and detailed and the character designs are perfect. The characters are absolutely amazing as well. The story is one that makes everything very interesting and you want to see what happens next. The character interactions are 10/10. I haven’t been this excited about a webtoon in a very long time! 

*VERY underrated. It is my mission to get this webtoon the recognition it deserves. It has a rating of 9.9 on the Korean Daum Webtoon site. 9.9!!!! 

2. Fools [read here]

Genre: Drama, Romance, Shounen Ai

Summary: Eungi has been in college without being engaged with others. One day by an encounter, he finds the secret of underclassmen Jeongwoo.

Review So Far: The art is very aesthetically pleasing and simple. A light-hearted read with a developing and pure romance! Both characters are so adorable and pure and they need to be protected. Seriously, they’re so cute!  

Status: Ongoing, 15 chapters out

3. Intramuros [read here]

Genre: Drama, Historical (?), not 100% sure if it’s going to be BL but it def seems so

Summary:  At the heart of the Philippines lies the walled district of Intramuros. Inside its thick stone barriers is the country’s center of commerce, trade, religion, politics, and power. Vibrant and exhilarating, it is a place of light and promises. But this story is not about this seemingly perfect city, it is about two boys: one who lived inside and one who lived outside the walls.

Review So Far: One that I see becoming very popular. The art is unique, detailed, and more realistic. The story seems so interesting, and I love how it connects with history. Even though it only has 2 chapters out, I already have a feel for the characters and I’m 1000% sure I’m going to love them and the story!

4. Spring In the Heart [read here]

Genre: GL, BL, Fantasy

Summary:  A barren world where all flowers have disappeared and spring is non-existent. The only way flowers can bloom and eventually bring spring back is through a love virus that enables the human heart to bloom flowers. Can Mahger and Pansey fall in love and revive spring with their love?

Review So Far: The one that’s probably going to be as popular as Killing Stalking but for totally opposite reasons. You might have even heard of it already and for good reason! Stunning art, interesting story. Don’t know much about the characters so far with only 2 chapters out, but I can tell that I’m going to like them. That one fanfiction AU has finally been done in a comic. #bless

2016: ON THE TOP OF MY LIST

Last year, I’ve watched more than 10 Korean dramas and there’s this 4 particular dramas that really catches my heart.

Disclaimer: This blog post might contain spoilers so if you haven’t watched the dramas that I will be mentioning here, I hope you can forgive me :)

W-TWO WORLDS

Synopsis: W-Two worlds is a fantasy-romance about a man and a woman living in different worlds. Yeon Joo is a doctor living in the real world and her father is the author of the most popular webtoon, W. And Kang  Chul is the lead character of that webtoon. Things becomes complicated when Yeon Joo’s father decides to kill Kang Chul and Yeon Joo gets pulled into the comic world and met Kang Chul.

I was able to watch this drama because of a friend who keeps on telling me that there’s a drama that she’s really into. I wasn’t interested at first because I’m still not yet done with Game of Throne’s season 4. But after few weeks of convincing me, I started to watch the drama and the story began.

It wouldn’t be much to say that it was love at first episode for me with W. The first few episodes of the drama were good but a little dy. But after few more episodes I started to like W. It’s a great fantasy story, a lots of twist and turns. You can’t never be comfortable because you just never know what’s going to happen next. I love the whole concept of a character having to learn he’s from a work of fiction. It’s unbelievable and devastating for the person involved.

What I liked about W-Two Worlds?

Aside from the drama’s bold storytelling, the execution of the two worlds is really my favorite. A serious kudos to the whole production team,because they managed the transition of the two worlds so skillfully.

A cute OTP. Yeon Joo and Kang Chul is really cute together. They can turn the serious scenes into romantic one real quick. One of my favorite scene of them is during the time that Yeon Joo confessed her love to Kang Chul. Before, Yeon Joo randomly says those words to him but he’s not affected at all (It’s her way to go back to the real world). This time, it’s different,  he got swayed by Yeon Joos confession.

Overall, W-Two worlds was fun and crazy ride. With action packed fantasy story. It’s highly recommended if you’re a fan of those kind of genres.

MOONLIGHT DRAWN BY CLOUDS (LOVE IN THE MOONLIGHT)

I have to tell you this guys, I really really love this one. Seriously. This drama reminds me all over again why I fell in love with traditional dramas. It wasted no time in grabbing my heart and hold onto it really tight for the entire 18 episodes.

One of the things that comes to my mind when I think of MDBC, aside from Park Bo Gums sweetness, is that this drama is really well made. From the execution of scenes to the delivering of lines, everything.

Yeong (Park Bo Gum’s character) was my favorite among the cast of the show. Yeong’s character is full of charm and you couldn’t resist it I’m telling you. One of my favorite scene of him is during the confession and first kiss on Episode 7. The way Yeong approaches into confession and eventually to his first kiss scene to Ra On got me so kilig. Ugh. This boy makes my heart wobble, seriously. Another one is in Episode 14, when he comes face to face with Ra On in the secret meeting place. I won’t forget his “I will never forgive you” line before walking to Ra On and grabbed her in his arms. I never thought those words could be so romantic. I still haven’t moved on from that.

If there’s a leading man who’s really charming and handsome there should be a better half who has the same characteristics as him which really suits for Kim Yoo Jung. She’s one of the child actresses who’s really grown up so beautiful and talented. I can still remember her, portraying the role of young Yeon-O in Moon embracing the sun (which is my all time favorite drama). I really like Kim Yoo Jung as Ra On, she’s really natural. She’s funny without looking like she’s trying hard. Kim Yoo Jung consistently looks like she’s being herself.

The cast really suits the drama. Aside from the leads, Kwak Dong Yun really catches my attention. His cool but caring friend role is loveable (I’m so kinikilig while typing this one.) Special shout out to the Princess and Master Jung’s loveline. I also enjoyed their love story, even though it’s mostly played for comedy afterall, they are the reason why Ra On and Yeong met.

GOBLIN: THE LONELY & GREAT GOD

Goblin made me speechless and fall in love in less than a few minutes. As someone who watched many dramas and (I can say) can predict almost everything that’ll happen next, this drama made me laugh, cry & cringe when I didn’t expect I would.

Synopsis: Goblin is about a general way back in Goryeo, who got killed out of jealousy by the King. Because of his desperate wish for revenge, God gave him the chance to become goblin, a creature with immortal life and superpowers.

Goblin is really unpredictable. This drama made me cry, laugh out loud, cringe (Paulit ulit ako haha) and so much more. This drama caught me offguard. It’s so fun to watch and that’s not even all. It makes you think about so many things especially God, good and bad, death, your deeds, you past and so on. It’s really a drama for everyone. It has everything you could wish for: Romance, comedy, poetry, drama and so much more. There’s something about this drama that was really addicting.

Why I like Goblin a lot?

Aside from the unique pairing of Goblin and Eun Tak, the bromance between Goblin and Grim Reaper is really enjoyable. The way they annoy each other is such a riot. Lol One of my favorite funny moments of these two is when they are trying to learn how to use cellphone. Deok Hwa, a younger servant of Goblin, told them the basics on using phone. He said, they should go first to the appstore to download apps then suddenly Goblin started to wear his coat. I was laughing so hard during that scene.

Goblin and Eun Tak’s loveteam is a breath of fresh air. It’s an unusual pair because of the age difference but the chemistry of the two is really cute.They’re not the typical clingy couple but there’s something in them that will make you love them.

Grim Reaper and Sunny’s amazing lovestory. I really love the concept of their relationship. Grim reaper being innocent about impressing girls is so adorable. I think fellow KDrama fans will agree on me that they are another example of second lead syndrome. I seriously hoped that they could make another drama together.

 WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY KIM BOK JOO

One word to begin with….. Sweeeeg!

Synopsis: Kim Bok Joo is a weightlifting athlete in a sports university. Her seemingly ordinary life becomes interrupted as she reunited with her elementary schoolmate, Joon Hyung who’s currently an athlete of the swimming team.

WLFKBJ possibly one of the underrated dramas last 2016. I love almost everything about this drama because it really shows the charm and trials of the youths. I seriously wish I could just fill this blog post with only heart emoticons. This drama makes my heart so full and I’m loving it so freaking much. WLFKBJ feels so raw, real and beautiful with more resemblance to life and less of fiction. From the moment I saw the preview online, I felt like this show would really fits my taste.

Here’s the main things that made this show works for me:

The people and stories feels real and relatable. While dramaland is full of shows with fantastical and unusual set-ups, this drama’s charm lies in just how ordinary it’s setting is and how ordinary its characters are.

Lee Sung Kyung as Kim Bok Joo. Oh my God I love her. At first I will admit that I found Bok Joo’s acting a bit exaggerated and her body movements so unnatural but once I accepted that Bok Joo really is a person who walks weird and who really couldn’t help crumpling her face into a pout on a regular basis, I grew to love her. I seriously can relate to Bok Joo, from dealing with self-image, to crushing on boys, to finding meaning in what she does. Maybe because Bok Joo is relatable, I often find myself in her.

Nam Joo Hyuk as Joon Hyung. I Honestly prays to God to have my own Joon Hyung. I just love how he cares so much for Bok Joo even before they become a couple. Which leads to my next favorite thing, Joon Hyung Sweetness. I love it. I love that Bok Joo doesn’t need to be anything or anyone other than herself, to inspire this kind of loyalty, affection and head-over-heels love from him. The two of them shared an amazing amount of chemistry in this show. The skinship feels so natural and easy, I feel like they’ve cuddled a lot before and I’m completely blown away. These two is consistently cute together.

The Friendship of Bok Joo, Seon Ok and Nan Hee.I love that no matter what came between them, they remain as good friends. I seriously can see my friends on them. (Shoutout to my squad. Love you. Ewww Haha) So endearing and yes, full of SWAG!

So far, WLFKBJ is my most loved drama. I don’t know when will I get over because it only sets another standard for me to look at on the coming dramas this year.

The Dramas that I’ve mentioned above is highly recommended I’m assuring you all you won’t regret watching them.Goodnight, Good Morning and SWEEEG!
