BACKSTORY : growing up with an abusive mother who loathed calix for simply existing and despised his younger sister, malari, for completely ruining her chances of being reintegrated into a proper life. abusing calix became a second thought the second malari was born. calix, who loved his little sister more than anything tried his best to keep her safe, to bear the brunt force of what their mother subjected them to. until eventually when their mother threatened to burn him alive if he kept his sister hidden from her, malari snapped and hit their mother over the head with a stone from outside their little abode. she died, leaving the siblings orphaned and with little hope. to afford the minimum amount of food needed to stay alive calix, now the sole provider for his little sister, began to work every job given to him; forced his already malnutritioned body to work even when he physically couldn’t.

constantly mocked for his appearance, calix found comfort in his little sister who would do her best to work as well; small jobs, nothing to strenuous, to support them both as well. calix never opted to say anything but most of the time he went with little to no food to ensure malari was fed well; mostly kept alive by his love for his sister. she was going to have a good life, and he would ensure that. until the day a drunkard, a vile man much older than the two of them, came to their little abode to take malari with him; calix, panicked and desperate to keep her safe fought him off with all he head. except he was weakened and tired and it didn’t take much for the man to finish him off. but rather than dying as he should calix, desperately clinging onto the last of his energy, vowed to always protect his sister - to make the man miserable for the rest of eternity should he harm her. he doesn’t know if it was the fact he just killed someone or the threat and pure hatred in calix’ eyes that caused the man to flee, but in his last breath he tried his best to comfort his little sister. saying she no longer had to carry the name of a disease as their mother intended, that he would always protect her and that she would grow up healthy and strong. and thus, with his last breath, he gave his sister a real name. “valentina”.

he doesn’t know what happened next, has no recollection of what had happened to him but when he awoke his body felt light and yet heavy at the same time. he was laying in their home, valentina huddled up next to him as though to seek comfort. he tried to hug her only to find his once thin, lanky arms had become strong, muscular. that the veins in his arms were prominent as though his skin was near see through. the rest of his body, too, has become much more stronger and had ceased hurting. only later would he find out that his sheer desire to keep his sister safe and her desire to keep him alive had somehow triggered something ancient that had turnt him into a revenant. bound to his sister until her lifespan ran out.

ever since he had been hidden away in a necklace she wore, coming out whenever she required help or needed him. until eventually the necklace was dropped, calix forced to come out. he doesn’t know what happened to valentina, doesn’t know where she is. all he knows is somewhere, in one of the realms, and he can’t even pinpoint which one, she is alive. or at least her energy is. so now he travels, seeking to find his sister while avoiding as many humans as possible. his status as a ghost has made him a popular victim of the church and hunters alike; but he has not harmed humans, yet, because he is too focused on finding his sister.

PERSONALITY : calix is a tired, easily annoyed individual who speaks in a way that draws out most of the syllables. his raspy, almost grating deep voice combined with his dishevelled appearance and ridiculous height have made many people shy away from him. good, as he does not care for most people. all he truly cares about his finding his sister, finding out what happened to her. how he can still sense her energy after several hundred years of separation. he tends to be easily frustrated, not necessarily with people but because every time he seems to come close to finding his sister her energy is suddenly somewhere entirely else; and without knowing which of the realms it is, it enrages him to keep being separated from her.

he has a soft spot for children, particularly those coming from poorer backgrounds or with abusive parents. he may not necessarily do a lot to help them but he will offer to get them out of their old situation should it not keep him off his sisters trail for too long. he tends not to speak to people usually, but has a tendency to talk to dogs or cats given that they usually do not understand him.

he is uncomfortable with his new body as a revenant; knows that he was brought back to be at the age where, under better circumstances, he would be in his physical prime. but it is new, strange and foreign and he is, even now, not used to looking like this. he has heard off - handed comments about almost being handsome were it not for how unkempt he appears and every time it has made him incredibly uncomfortable. he doesn’t know how to handle people being kind, nice to him and it shows in the way he will hesitate to respond, question their intentions.
