At the question, Adalyn paused before turning to Marpesia. How odd... Why would she ask this to someone she barely knew?

“Funny, you should ask. I would tell you, but—”

She paused for a moment when she looked at her in the eyes. Wait a minute. Why does...

... She look... So damn familiar—

Her vision snapped back to reality almost immediately, the sudden memory of seeing someone close to her related to the girl was a shock to her system.

All she did was murmur,

“... Mon dieu...”

She went silent for a moment, before offering the other a mysterious smile. Almost as if she didn't suddenly saw something so creepy or odd. Or even acted so strange... Like she knew something that others didn't.

“Only the owner of the manor and Miss Nightingale knows why I'm here. I'd tell you, but that's confidential. Perhaps in due time... If we're close, that is.”

She didn't seem reluctant, but she's keeping that sort of information locked. She won't tell anyone what her reason is—
