#this is a very good explanation #if i may add a further personal wrinkle: in my house we grew up exclusively with drop biscuits #american biscuits but with the dough dropped in large spoonfuls on the baking sheet and NOT deliberately shaped #they're delicious but it took me quite a while to learn that american biscuits are Generally Cylindrical (via incomingalbatross)

#i did not grow up *exclusively* with drop biscuits #but they were probably only less common bc my family's traditional birthday breakfast traditionally involved standard (cylindrical) biscuit #and there are enough birthdays in my family i think it definitely weights the numbers #ironically the last couple years we make it with drop biscuits instead but that's still a recent development #but yeah i'm glad prev tags brought up drop biscuits because they were for sure worth a mention in a breakdown this detailed #biscuits #scones #cookies #baking
