Obviously no pressure to post this since this is your blog but extra no pressure since it's gonna be political but

I kinda super despise Homelander being a Trump allegory. Like HL to me feels more human than Trump which is probably because HL is fictional and we can project our wants and feelings onto him. And I say this as a queer woman. I just hate how because of the political weirdness it's taken on, I just feel kinda icky talking about The Boys anymore or recommending it especially after the last season. Like HL has done some heinous shit but that fictional distance and backstory and watching his descent into further madness just feels like comparing him to that orange asshole is a disservice to HL lol

don't worry, you're among friends! we all hate the trump allegories. they don't make sense if you look at it even a LITTLE critically. Homelander is a victim and a byproduct of hyper capitalism and the commodification of human life. the abuse he suffered and the crimes he commits are larger than life, but very much fictional.

vs the very real harm and evil perpetuated by trump in the real world. like... what are you even DOING, kripke? are you trying to make trump sympathetic, or are you trying to turn your very successful and nuanced antagonist into a nonsensical joke? what is the endgame here???

it's just such a shame honestly. a fucking waste. at least we have antony begging kripke to knock it off and let homelander stand on his own feet as a complex character.

i feel you on being uncomfortable recommending the boys now, though. it went from being my favorite show to just... something i don't bother to talk about outside the fandom because s4 went so down hill.
