Anyway happy international women's day to everybody except for the guy giving a speech at the symposium I was at today while awarding a price to a researcher for their work highlighting that that prize had gone to men this year and the year before and blamed that on mentors not "submitting their females" for the prize instead of adequately recognizing that this price was for people who finished their PhD between 3 and 8 years ago, and that's more or less the exact stage of a scientific career where the men start to vastly outnumber the women
#i wanna say he got the spirit he's just a little confused but at the same time#i just wanted to run up that stage and yell please don't say females#he didn't fall into the females and men trap tho ill give him that#anyway the day people stop going well sexism is pretty much solved right in science will be a glorious one#but unfortunately i had some pretty frustrating experiences regarding that and I'm barely in science anymore#and ive been closest as a student which is a bit of a different experience#international women's day#posts from a murky galaxy
