russian mass market paperbacks invented literature i think.
#i own my mom's editions of tom sawyer/huckleberry finn from college and my dad's editions of alien and lem's novels#and they are such gorgeous gorgeous girls#my romanian contemporary paperbacks are dogshit#i see a lot of russian editions of things (because again at home we have an audience for russian language readers)#and they are always so beautiful :((#romanian first editions are always gorgeous gorgeous girls (litera cartier and nemira my beloveds)#but translations for the mass market it's like here have some dogshit#i hate them so much#its like its not worth getting a romanian translation in anything but hardback
