#now i've never experienced love at first sight#however--once when i was fifteen i was in auditions for my community theatre's production of newsies#and this guy who went before me sang the most beautiful rendition of 'on the street where you live' i've ever heard in my life#and by golly was that enchanting#i still think about it any time i hear that song#we both ended up cast and i don't think i had any particularly strong feeling towards him other than a slight inclination#but to paraphrase alcott 'that's the sort of voice that could win a woman's heart straight out of her chest"#anyway the song just came up in my playlist while i was writing gerda and kay at the coffee shop and made me think of it
