obligatory disclaimer about not everyone in the south being a bigot, but by god, where else do I get told to my face by near strangers that they don't think women should be in positions of authority?

#“where do you go to church” is a basic introductory question down here #and the guy who came to paint my parent's house (I was watching it for them) told me that he goes to a church with a woman pastor even #though he doesn't beleive that's right because he really likes her brother who is other pastor #and the look on my face must have been something bc he then said that his wife feels the same way #but then went on to talk about how Paul says women shouldn't preach #and boy do I feel sorry for his wife #baptists are really out here testing the last string of my patience #catholics at least wait until youre an hour into a conversation before they say the same thing lol
