it's not exactly comparable absolutely but it's absurd/sad that tommy can sit with arthur down in the cellar and make a whole deeply moving speech in order to get through him and in the next scene he barely knows what to say to his twelve year old son who's clearly asking for help in his grief for the sister he *just* lost, and then you also have that whole gut wrenching confrontation in the office between them where tommy ends up comforting arthur once more, and next scene they team up to bully finn (who later on gets exiled from the family)

#it's devastating but also fun to me #'arthur deserves better than tommy/he did him so dirty' he's babying that 50 year old neurodivergent minor more than his 12 year old son #sure mostly this is about the fact that at the end of the day tommy *can* talk to arthur because they fully know each other #while there's a divide between him and finn and charlie that is not really bridgeable for him #but the optics. he's in a triage situation and the guy he saves first is that terrible brother of his
