I watch a fun IG reel of a maid getting dressed in 1790 vs. 1890. it's great! both maids are in practical, period-typical outfits with a few simple aesthetic touches because Humans Like Looking Good regardless of social class. you can tell they are maids because they put clearly functional aprons on, and the 1890s one is wearing a uniform-style cap. also the caption says they are. love it

One of the many tragic aspects of Mikuni's character is that if he were to prevent the affair from happening, misono wouldn't be born.
With that being said, the reason why he would want to be misonos' father becomes simple. It's because that's the only way to prevent the affair from happening, and still make sure his little brother is born.
I mean, someone's gotta do it. (Im sorry lmao)
Im thinking he goes back in time, offers Hokaze to marry him to solve the money digging issue, meaning she wouldn't have to go after his father. Preventing the affair, preventing his mothers death & countless others, while also making sure misono still gets born eventually, except it's as his.. and Hokaze's son.
...yeah
And this might be the first time you'll find me not rooting for him.

nothing ruins my immersion more than media that wants me to think ball pythons are scary. you mean the animal who's top defense mechanism is Become Rock? the other common alternative i see are fuckn corn snakes. corn snakes. yk. the snake thats skinnier than a wide belt with the defense mechanism of Become Stinky.
not scary! and this scene is now hilarious to me because of how Not Scary the snakes they chose are.

Someone might have pointed this out already but in the first scene of season 2, when Crowley is creating the universe, he’s using a hand-crank to set it into motion. We get a good glimpse of it as the camera pulls into his character, and another when Aziraphale holds the map for him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he’s done spinning the crank, Aziraphale asks: “Is that it?”
To which Crowley replies: “Oh, no. That’s just priming the engine.”
Priming the engine. It’s an interesting turn of phrase, since cars won’t be invented for another ~6,000 years, but it’s congruous with the humorous anachronisms in the world of Good Omens. I don’t know much about old cars, so I had to do some reading for this, but essentially hand-cranks were used to quite literally wind an engine up by hand. What I find interesting is that the show has chosen to have a character, who we know will later have an emotional connection to his car, equate the universe to a car.
The Bentley is Crowley’s equivalent to a physical home. The show reinforces, time and again, that he is living out of his car in season 2; that the Bentley is to Crowley what the bookshop is to Aziraphale (Adam restoring the Bentley and bookshop to new after Armagedidn’t, “The Bentley is my car.” “Well, yes, technically. Just as that bookshop is technically my shop…”); that he can feel when Aziraphale turned it yellow. In the book, Hastur even uses the Bentley to explain how Crowley has “gone native” to Earth:
Tumblr media
Crowley’s car represents his connection to humanity. He has chosen a home for himself outside of heaven and hell, within the freedom afforded by Earth and, by extension, his car. So it’s only fitting that he uses a car part to crank the universe into existence.
But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Crowley with a hand-crank! Flashback to this scene from the season 1 finale:
Tumblr media
Sure enough, he’s using the Bentley’s hand crank to fight against heaven and hell! As @fuckyeahgoodomens points out in this post, he originally used a tire iron in the book, but it changes to a hand crank in the series.
Major kudos to Neil Gaiman and the directing/props team, because it’s a beautiful parallel to have Crowley defending the Earth with the same technology he used to create it. It’s Crowley saying, “My weapon of choice is the very humanity you’ve tried to squash out of me.” It’s him saying, “Remember, I was there when this infinite, beautiful, messy universe Began.” It’s him saying, “I once used the tools of heaven to create this planet, and I will use the same tools to protect it, whether heaven likes it or not.”

I think a problem with a lot of modern fairy tale retellings and remakes is that the writer(s) will see a shallow romance, and decide that the best way to fix it is to just remove the romance entirely.
The problem is, if you cut out the central relationship arc from a story, you also risk losing the emotional core. It's possible to create a new emotional core by adding or fleshing out a different relationship arc (such as a familial relationship or a friendship) -
But sometimes the best solution is actually to write a better romance.

i'm sorry tiktok needs to die. the entire "become viral" mentality needs to fucking die. immediately. stalking taylor at work and then showing up at her house and waiting outside with phones pointed at her car as she pulls into her garage is beyond disgusting and disrespectful.

I don't know how to say this but if your first thoughts when someone mentions sex especially queer sex are various sex crimes, not healthy consensual sex and/or kink, that is a You issue and you shouldn't share it on the post/in the conversation.

Modern femi-nuhsim stripping fairytales of selfless, romantic moments? Who would have thought. So many so-called feminist executive producers and writers nowadays are so deep in narcissism that they fail to commit to the heart and spirit of love stories, it's concerning. Killing romance altogether in the name of being progressive. 🤦🏾‍♀️

'hoard that shit like gold' is such a silly saying. i can get gold anywhere. i'm going to say 'hoard that shit like pain pills', which are far harder to get and so much more satisfying to have when you need them.

Apart from why you should always put a picture of your face, I feel it's very superficial everything, the important thing in flirting for me is to know the person well, Tinder should leave the option to put icons.... It shouldn't always be a picture of a person's face because the important thing is to connect emotionally idk
I completely get that, and I agree. I mean, I don't think people go on those apps to find deeper connections (that's not my intention, at least) because just like you said, it's superficial. that's why I like tumblr. I mean, tumblr isn't a dating app, obviously, but you can connect with people without ever seeing their faces!

We've had strap ons since at least 400 BC, and people still have the nerve to go on gay hook up apps and ask "how can an FTM be a top?"
