first you need to understand that this is no longer actually an AITA au... it definitely started with that idea in mind but unfortunately it has spiraled into something else but kept its title because i haven't thought of a new one yet. the concept of it is this: enjolras says something horrible to grantaire in front of all their friends, grantaire decides to stop coming to meetings, everyone is mad at enjolras and he's mad at himself and he can't figure out why it's bothering him so much that grantaire won't speak to him anymore (three guesses why). originally i was going to have enjolras proceed to post about it on reddit/AITA (is this out of character? yes but idgaf) and there was going to be an entire thing. however, now i have decided to go in a different direction. i do still intend to write an AU where enjolras posts about grantaire on reddit/AITA and promptly gets told that it doesn't matter if he's the asshole because he's definitely in love with the guy he's posting about, but that's not what that document is anymore 😭 here is a snippet from what actually exists in this document, currently:

“It doesn’t matter,” Grantaire says. He’s wearing a sweater and shorts, an outfit combination Enjolras can make neither heads nor tails of. He pulls his sweater sleeves over his hands and wrings them together. “I’m not, like, mad.” Enjolras frowns at him. “You should be.” Grantaire gives a bitter little laugh. “Yeah, I really should be,” he agrees. There is something dark in the twist of his mouth. “But I’m not. So you don’t have to apologize.”
