I'm extremely disappointed in whoever was in charge of putting together the Best TV Storyboard nominee reels for the Annie's last night, because instead of showcasing Aevery Huens boards that were nominated and voted on, they showed a clip of someone else's boards instead.

Aevery's boards were some of my favorite from the show, and even though they didn't win, they deserved their moment in the sun. The actual nominated sequence was from S1 E7 'That Night,' when Mateo tells Kenji and Darius what he thinks happened to Brooklynn. The suspense Aevery built in that sequence was one of the most important moments of the show, and I wish everyone watching the Annie's hadn't seen the wrong work attributed to the wrong person.

Aevery really enjoys spending time with mom. They weren't related by blood, and she was made just to keep him safe and not much else. Truly, they had only known each other for a single day before everything went wrong. But that didn't matter to him. He had known, from the moment he woke up and saw her, that she was his mother. And, maybe, that was the same moment Nancy had accepted the role that was so much more than just caretaker and protector.

Being able to just be here with her and not worry about the future, even if just for a few "months"... Nancy still isn't too happy about the decision. Spending so much time in Zeight like Melia did and messing up mental clocks. But she'd accepted if only because he was using this to rest instead of to work himself even more.

He was able to rest as long as he wanted, was able to nap under the tree terminal with his mom and sometimes his sort of ghost brother Aevis. He could let his mask fall and cry out all his fears and frustrations and everything that had just became too much and overwhelmed him to the point of cracking. He could let himself be held, and told that everything was going to be ok, instead of being the rock that had to reassure everyone else.

Nancy understood because she was his mother. Understood that he was just a child with the weight of a universe thrown on his too small shoulders. Understood that he was just a child that never was given the chance to even ever be one. Understood that her son needed someone who could comfort him.

Aevis understood because they were connected. Understood because he was allowed to feel every emotion and thought that wasn't kept under lock. Understood because even if he couldn't always interact, he could see every dream and nightmare. Understood that it was his own refusal of Variya's offer that led to Aevery being chosen instead. Understood that his little brother needed someone who could hold him up.

Aevery understands that he can't stay in this space forever, that he would need to leave eventually. Understands that he needs to stay brave for just a little longer. Understands that, eventually, he will need to tell his friends how he often feels. Understands that all he needs to do is let go. Understands that everyone will catch him when he falls.

Hello, I'm Faelynn or just Lynn for short. This is my writing sideblog for my writing project that has gotten a little out of hand; I will be posting about my worlds, my world building, and the stories of those in these worlds.

I would describe my works as Fantasy Solarpunk, with interesting magic systems and lovable characters. I'm aiming to publish for a 12+ audience so about 30,000 to 35,000 words per book, but I hope that anyone at any age can enjoy my works.

after seeing everything finally come together, what ended up being your favorite episode of jwct season 1? not to work on, but to watch as a viewer! :O

Favorite overall episode to watch that I did not work on is 9-- boarded by Shelby Peake, Natalie Carmouche and Michelle Xin over on team raptor, with fantastic revisions by @dakooftacos and their director Dan Forgione. I love the heartbeat motif in the music, the way it was edited to build all that suspense and tension, Ben and Bumpy, and that the N5 finally get to reunite in that episode.

My favorite sequences to watch are from episodes 7 and 4, by my incredible board partners Aevery Huens and @riannimation. Aevery did the Mateo flashback sequence in 7 and the DPW convoy sequence at the top of 4, and Rianna did the Kenji panic attack sequence at the beginning of 7 as well as the rock climbing/parasaurolophus sunset/break up sequence in 4. (With really nice revisions by Emma Gilles and our director Mike Mullen. Go team Bumpy)! I just really love how they capture emotions in their sequences.

And finally, my favorite pteam pteranodon episode to watch is 2-- boarded by @tio-trile and Jeffrey Chang, with additional boards and revisions by @kngstr and Ben Holm (Ben joined the team full time doing boards later). There are also some really great sequences and revisions by our supervising producer Zesung Kang who directed this episode (the suspenseful 'we're being followed' sequence), as well as our EP Aaron Hammersley (the boot sequence, the phone out the window scene). Overall, I just really loved watching Ben and Darius interact in this episode. It was always something I wished we had more in Camp Cretaceous.

My name is Aevery, and I'm the Interceptor in my timeline. The Xen raid is in a couple days but I... I'm not ready. I'm scared that something is gonna go wrong and I'm gonna let everyone down... s-so! I'm spending some time alone in Zeight with Mom and Aevis! Time moves different in here so I can stay for a looong time and it won't matter outside as long as I don't do that thing Melia did to talk to anyone. Mom told me I could use this message thing to talk to people in other timelines though! I-if they want... I don't think I need to send it to anyone specific, anyone can find it if they want. And I probably won't use the recording as much as the writing. Talking a lot is still. Different?

A-anyway! Talking is supposed to help me feel better, and. I know I should tell my friends or anyone else I trust but. I can't let them worry, not yet. Th-they might get distracted at the raid o-or they won't be able to focus as much on finding the cure for Melia. I-I'll tell them when everything is ok again. So I'll keep talking here until I feel like I'm ready to keep going!

O-oh, um. Mom says the recording is almost full so I have to stop for now. Um, bye!"

Okay personal D&D thing for a second. I’m currently in a campaign playing a private investigator aasimar rogue named Blair. She is in a poly relationship, married to an aasimar named Xander and a tiefling named Aeverie. Those two own a shop and I haven’t seen the shop yet (we are 3 sessions in) but Blair has been home twice so far. First time was pretty on brand for her, she got in very late and they were asleep so she very quietly crawled into bed BUT IN LAST NIGHTS SESSION SHE FINALLY GIT TO SPEAK TO THEM. So, she went and bought two flowers and then went home and sneaked into the house (I think I got a 23 on stealth?) and scared the SHIT out of them cos she’s childish when she’s with them and not working. Aeverie then warned her that she did have a knife cos the two were cooking dinner. Blair apologised by giving them the flowers WHICH THEY THEN, XANDER PUT HIS ON AEVERIE’S EAR AND THEN AEVERIE DID THE SAME TO XANDER, I WAS DYING. Blair then explained how she’s been so busy and she’s missed being able to come home and actually see them, and they told her to rest and put her feet up and that dinner will be ready soon. And Blair quickly fell asleep on the couch and woke up a while later where one of them had put a blanket over her 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭 I love them so much 😭😭😭😭

Going off what we now know about the Black Box, and thinking to myself many times "what if an mc with no memories from before the game ends up learning more about the properties of the box and of the Interceptor and ends up stuck with Existential Crisis?"

I ended up writing a super short not even a drabble segment of a possible future sickfic idea that I may expand on when more official Plot happens

So what if everything felt hot and cold at the same time? So what if everything was getting blurry and dark, and he kept getting dizzy and almost tripped over nothing again? So what if he wanted to rest, forget about everything and let someone take care of him and tell him everything would be ok for once? He didn't need it! He saw the file, he wasn't a real person. It didn't matter if he waited until the fever was gone or if he kept training through it, it couldn't kill him, the box would cure him either way. It didn't matter what he wanted because he wasn't real and didn't need to be happy to do his job. He just needed to keep training, he just needed to beat Team Xen, he just needed to keep everyone else safe. 

If he could at least do that, maybe if he did what he was brought here to do... maybe he could pretend he was a real kid again

Magic

Magic is a strange, peculiar force. Not everyone can harness it, and certain races have a stronger affinity for certain magic types, or even magic as a whole.

Magic is generally contained to the 6 elements of the world. Earth, Ocean, Sky, Tectonic, Life and Death. Each of those magic types is used in certain ways, and has it’s own rules.

Earth magic is strong, stubborn and difficult to control. Young Earth magic users are especially prone to injury, as they haven’t yet learnt how to work with the stubbornness. This magic focuses on earthly materials such as dirt, rocks, metals and ores. Earth magic is typically used in herbalism, smelting and mining. Excellent Earth mages can detect precious metals and minerals that would otherwise have gone overlooked. Norfolk are very adept at this magic, and Aevery are the worst.

Ocean magic is flowing. This is the easiest to control, and is often underestimated, considered a beginner’s element. However, masterful Ocean mages could make the strongest of any element quake in their boots. This magic focuses on anything water-related. From puddles and rain to massive icebergs. This magic, when combined with Life magic, is great for healing. Merfolk are the best at this.

Sky magic is graceful and ethereal. This is the magic of the air and wind. Combined with Ocean magic, it can create thunderous tempests and storms. Sky magic requires a lot of concentration to learn, and many give up along the way, but once learnt it can be mastered in months, even weeks. This magic is favoured by performers, who use it to their advantage. Chirichs and Aevery are the best at this, with Dragons coming in close. It is very rare for a Norfolk or Merfolk to learn this magic at all, let alone be much good at it.

Tectonic is the magic of fire and lava and spewing volcanoes. While not difficult to learn, even a seasoned master can have trouble controlling it’s unpredictable nature. This magic is at it’s strongest when combined with Earth magic, and the two complement each other well. Dragons are the masters of this, far above any others.

Life magic is that of the plants, the animals, and all that breathes and lives. This magic is rare but highly revered for it’s healing ability. Life mages are often dragged into wars, healing the injured for little in return. More frequently Life mages help in famine and poverty, helping entire farms return from the brink of death. Unlike the four major elements Life (and Death) magic is not learnt, but one is born with it. And unlike the elemental magic, every race has an equal affinity and chance to be born with it.

Death magic is the rarest, and has a nasty reputation. It is the magic of decay, illness, poison and death. This is the magic most desired by cults and assassins for various nefarious means. However, being born with Death magic is not a sentence to a life of evil. Death magic is just as useful as Life magic in healing. Life mages can only heal what they know is there. Death mages have the unique ability to detect hidden illnesses, cancers and other secret ailments before their symptoms reveal themselves. For many, this is what saves them. Most folk are only likely to ever meet a Death mage a few times in their life, and usually only in hospitals and care centers.

The London Underground in The Empty Hearse: Part 1 - Basics of the Underground

I love the tube almost as much as I love Sherlock Holmes, and so the London Underground plot line in TEH is super interesting for me - especially because it’s full of tube-based plot holes and inaccuracies! I’m really excited to combine these two fields of interest in some analytical posts. This series may help non-Londoners if you’re writing fic about the tube, or you may just find it interesting as there’s lots of cool trivia about the tube and London in it, and if that’s not for you, there’s also a lot of pretty screenshots of John and Sherlock coming up. Something for everyone!

I’m going to go through chronologically in a series of posts, pointing out things that people not familiar with the tube system may have missed, some insight into how they filmed these scenes, and a few bits of meta and headcanons we can get from this information, as well as laugh at a couple of silly plot mistakes. Feel free to message me if there’s anything specific you want to know, I love talking about this topic. Please mind the gap between the train and the platform; this hype train is ready to leave!

This first section pre-games may writing on TEH with some basics of the tube system. If you’re familiar with the tube system, you probably don’t need to read this, but feel free to anyway, I’m not gonna tell you what to do, live your dreams, but here’s you’re warning that this section isn’t really focussed on Sherlock.

Lines

The tube network has 11 official lines, but this is hotly debated amongst the TFL (Transport for London) fandom. Yes, there is such a thing. It’s mostly middle aged men. I’m very out of place there. Without going into deep fandom politics, there are other parts of the transport network which are on the tube map which aren’t underground lines, like the Docklands Light Railway (self-driving overground suburban trains),  the London Overground (like the underground, but…overground) and the Croydon tram network. Don’t get bogged down with those, they aren’t as fun because they aren’t old and in tunnels. 

The actual tube lines all have a line name and colour for identification. Here’s some info and stereotypes about each line:

Bakerloo line - Brown - Harrow and Wealdstone to Elephant and Castle

If your grandpa was a tube line, he’d be the bakerloo. Slow, clunky and old, with lots of war stories. He’s trying his best, but it’s not surprising that he sometimes takes the afternoon off.

Central line - Red - Epping to Ealing Broadway/West Ruislip

In the summer, this line is as hot as satan’s crotch, and just as unpleasant. In winter it can be a pleasant refuge from the cold.

Circle line - Yellow - It’s a circle… almost. More like a spiral since it was extended to Hammersmith.

Tourist line. You can’t get on a circle line train without seeing a London guidebook or someone holding a tube map upside down and looking confused.

District line - Green - Where doesn’t this line go? Upminster to Wimbledon/Richmond/Ealing Broadway/Kensington (Olympia)

Take the district line to go the same places as the circle line but avoid the tourists.

Hammersmith & City line - Pink - Hammersmith to Barking

No one even takes this line, idk. They probably got on it by accident.

Jubilee line - Grey - Stanmore to Stratford

BUSINESS MEN AT BANKS AT CANARY WHARF IN SUITS DOING THEIR SERIOUS BUSINESS COMMUTING TO WORK WHERE THEY DO BUSINESS

Metropolitan line - Purple - Aldgate to Amersham/Chesham/Watford/Uxbridge

This line goes all the way to zone 9, where the fuck. It’s more like a commuter train, not really used to get around London itself.

Northern line - Black - Morden to Edgware/Mill Hill East/High Barnet

Just a line. It’s chill.

Piccadilly line - Dark Blue - Cockfosters (ha) to Uxbridge/Heathrow Terminal 5

If you aren’t a true Londoner you take the tube from Leicester Square to Covent Garden, costing you like £3 for a 5 minute walk. This line is famously unreliable, there was a famous incident a couple of years back where leaves on the track broke all the trains.

Victoria line - Light Blue - Walthamstow Central to Brixton

Fast speedy zoom zoom line!

Waterloo & City line - Turquoise - Waterloo to Bank

This line just shuttles between these two stations. What even is the point.

General Information

Zones are how prices are decided, zone one is central London, the higher the zone number the further into the suburbs.

Station layouts are generally made up of a surface building, a ticket-barrier, and escalators or lifts down to platform level, where there are corridors leading to different platforms and trains. 

Fares are paid through contactless card, Oyster card (pre-payment cards, you load them up with money at stations) or occasionally paper tickets, although (contrary to where you might see either use in TBB) most Londoners would use Oyster or contactless.

If you’re struggling with how to pronounce any station names or just want a good time, this is a song with every tube station in it. It’s super cheesy. Have fun.

Trains are different for each line; generally the lines use all the same trains.

The tube network has more overground track than underground; in central London the tube runs underground, but in the outskirts the lines tend to emerge into the open.

Trains usually run every 2-3 minutes, from about 4am to 1am. Some lines run 24 hours on weekends, the Night Tube. Message me if you want more info on that because it’s complicated and unless you need to know about it for an actual reason, it’s not interesting.

Rush hour/busiest times are approximately 7:30-9:00am and 5:00-6:30pm.

The key etiquette rule of the tube: never make eye contact and never speak to people if it can be avoided at any cost.
