i understand you feel protective over offgun but i feel like you kinda live in a bubble, you said it yourself that you dont interact w the bl fandom overall (wise decision). but fluffy shows being seen as less hyped isnt unique to them, even your examples: G4 fans themselves admit kieta hatsukoi th was a flop or fkt fans are in a war about that cat show lol. i think the problem isnt about mature vs fluff, its about the poor writing. its like they lost momentum bc not me was such a masterpiece

that's fair, thanks for bringing that perspective to me! I just never see the same kind of comments under posts for other ships, but you're right, it's not like I interact with those much. I think I was talking more about the broad bl/gmmtv fandom's reactions vs specific fandoms' reactions if that makes sense. however I don't think it's about a loss of momentum for offgun. the thing is, there will never be another show like not me. even burnout syndrome which will probably be equal in terms of acting, writing & cinematography cannot equal not me due to its political topic & frankness that cannot be emulated again. the thing with offgun is that they never went viral, which off said it himself, even for theory of love & not me which were their biggest shows. that means they're less mainstream than almost all the other couples at gmmtv, despite everyone knowing them due to their longevity & having an albeit small but super devoted fanbase that continues to prop them up. tbh if we're talking "losing momentum", I don't know what kind of show they could have starred in to NOT lose it after not me. my text post also aimed to express my disarray at the expectations that offgun only shine in mature shows when, imo, it's extremely far for the truth & they have the range to pull all genres. and talking about poor writing... I will never agree that cooking crush had poor writing, I'm sorry lol it's frankly a comedic masterpiece imo. but I do know it's more so about subjects broached & that many people didn't care about cc or the trainee bc there wasn't a lot of drama or crying scenes or plot twists, and that's what is regarded to making a show interesting for many. and although I wish the fandom had rallied around offgun more for these shows, I've been over it for a long time since I realized that sadly my taste doesn't often aline with the fandom most of the time. I was just annoyed at passive aggressive comments left by offgun "fans" who clearly aren't really fans.
